Default Round Two, Task Two

As you step into the arena, the gates close behind you and you find yourself facing rows and rows of bookshelves. A flickering light down one of the aisles draws your attention , inviting you to glance at the titles on the shelves . . .

Sarah was out of breath by the time she arrived back at the arena. Yet she was cured now, see, Lafay had some good in her. Sarah looked at her partner and gave a smile. She hardly knew this Slytherin, yet they were in this together. Sarah was nervous, yet as the doors of the arena closed behind her, she felt herself calming down. There was no way out now, all she had to do was her best, as there was no turning back. She had to face it like a lion. She fingered her wand, she could do it. She would show Hogwarts how amazing Sarah Edwards was, she would make her parents proud. This was her key to popularity... She was going to show the others that Hogwarts had a future. And its future lay in its students.

She looked ahead and her eyes lit up. Books... If this was not a task, she would have chosen a book and began flipping though it. Sarah loved books, she allowed herself to peak at the titles. It was so hard to fight the urge to finger the pages, run her hand down the spine...

"Don't you love books? They are the gateway to knowledge. Everything you need to know is there, and all you need to do is open a book" Sarah mused out loud. Wait, could the people in the stands here her? She hoped not, after her performance earlier she knew it would not take much to land up in St. Mungos.

She held her wand out, being prepared and she made her way towards the flickering light. "lets explore" she said to her partner. What could be hiding here? What danger awaits? Is there a book of monsters here? Or another dark object? She began to scan the shelves, methodically going horizontally across each shelf.

She wished there was background music that could cue tham to what was coming next.

follow me; everything is all right.

Once you enter the library, the door closes shut behind you, locking you in. Just as your eyes start to wander around the large amounts of books, a piece of parchment flutters to the ground in front of your path, which reads:

Young witches and wizards, do not despair,
with a little luck and some wits, you won't lose your hair.
Pick me up, one of the pink books in sight,
and you will see, i'm quite the tongue-twister if not picked right.

Your task has begun and the clock is ticking. For which book you select shall determine your fate.

The falling parchment made Sarah jump. She needs to calm down now, as jumping will not help. She picked up the parchment from the floor and began to read it out. "Young witches and wizards, do not despair, with a little luck and some wits, you won't lose your hair. Pick me up, one of the pink books in sight, and you will see, i'm quite the tongue-twister if not picked right.

She paused for a moment, thinking back to all the pink books she has read. She never really looked at the covers of book, after all she was sure not to judge a book by its cover. She had read so many books in her life... It had to be a book, so it would not be the booklet she found on muggle relations career... "I remember seeing a pink version of Dark Arts Defense: Basics for Beginners... and also Dumbledore's biography is also pink..." she reread it again and then put her hand to to mouth as she looked at the books again.

"I think I got it!" she said... recognizing a book. She pointed to a book "That book, Curses and Counter-Curses, is it pink or red? It contains things on loosing hair and tongue tying.. so maybe...." Unless those words were just to throw her off.

Maybe they should just summon it? Or would that be too dangerous, in case she got the wrong book. Was she colour blind or something?

The book the young Lioness pointed at with her wand-hand started to glow subtly in anticipation for what might come next.

Perhaps there's another way to get the book?

Sarah waited for a reply from her companion. This was all about team work, so even though she could easily do it on her own, she had to try outsource. Even if by outsourcing it meant using people who were as good as here #egoYet that book seemed to gleam to her, beckoning her to do something... maybe it was pink? She had to get on with it, as it was she had a time limit. Although cautious by nature, sometimes she had to take chances and be the lioness that she was within.

"Accio Curses and Counter-Curses spellbook" Sarah casted doing the dome shaped motion with her wand, concentrating on the book. She hoped that was the right thing, she could have been more ambigious and summoned a pink book, yet she was too cautious for that. The Curses and Counter-Curses book did not have a known dark spell on it, like other books had.

It seemed as though the book was unresponsive to the summoning spell... though it bobbed slightly in its place.

Perhaps there was another way to get the book off the shelf for you to work with it?

And nothing. It was not often that this happened, yet Sarah should have guessed that for the Triwizard it was not going to be that simple. Her braid had moved onto her shoulder and Sarah flicked it behind her back... thinking. She could use that spell that they recently revised in class. Carpe Retractum.

How far back should she lean? The book is not that heavy, yet it was not featherlight either. She took reegripped her wand and did the whip like wand movement, "Carpe Retractum" she said, thinking about pulling that Curses and Counter-Curses book towards her. She loved that whip like moving, made her think that she was cowgirl. She hoped it was okay to use that kind of spell on a book

If she were not allowed to use magic she would have climbed up the shelves. Climbing bookshelves was miles more exhilarating than even doing the whip like movement of the Seize and Pull charm.

Seizing and pulling did nothing either.

Except that the bookshelves started to shake, as if an earthquake was about to happen all the books would tumble off the shelves. Hurry. Time doesn't standstill.

But a spell that moves an object should prove to be effective.....

Neither worked... yet those shelves started to shake... This would be scary if those things fell on her. It was exciting too.. Sarah had never been in an earthquake, yet it was pretty exciting to her.

What would happen if the books would fall on her? She ought not to think about that, although she placed her left hand on her head, as a sort of protective measure. Not that it would help that much.

What other spells could she use... locomotor... the disarming spell would be by a long shot... WAIT! How about Wingardium Leviosa! Why did she not think of it before! That is so obvious.

She held out her wand again, and aimed it at the book (she hoped it was the right book by now) "Wingardium Leviosa" she said doing the wand movement of what looked like a curvy capital N. This had to work.. or else she would have to use a more complicated spell. Wingardium Leviosa, the levitation spell, is the what she learned from a book before coming to Hogwarts.

The book responded to that spell, as it levitated off the shelf and hovered in front of the girl, waiting expectantly for what might come next.... as if holding the answer to the next step...

Sarah levitated the book onto the floor before releasing it from the spell. She than picked up the book and looked at the cover. Was it pink? Or red? It was too late now... She had seen this book before, in fact she had studied from it for OWLs. She held it at arms length anyways and began to page through the book. What would come next? Would there be another riddle?

When would she use Arithmancy? She had learnt so hard for that part...

The book is locked shut. If you would like to know what curse is on it, a certain spell will reveal as such....

ooc: less than 24 hours still task closes =(

Darn... closed book. Should she cast the spell that opens it... Wait, this was Triwizard of Wits after all, it would not be an easy spell like that. What kind of spell could it be? Oh... this is where Arithmancy came into play. She remembered doing this in her second year on with Professor Hadley.

She held the book in her left hand and steadied her wand in her right hand."Arithmos Revealo" she said, casting the spell on the book. She better take out her parchment next, that way she can start breaking up the number to identify what the spell was and all the information that she needed to know about it

A stream of numbers appear when the spell is cast: ????????????

The numbers fade away quickly, the spell seems not quite correct.

EEEK! She now had to put her Arithmancy thinking cap on. She took out her peice of partchment and sitting down on the floor began to write:
SPOILER!!: partchment
9290972549
TRY one= 92 909 725 4 9
Basis - 92 ( spell affect teaching humans (affects spell books))
Kernel- 909 (short-lived decay of power)
Range- 725 ( Spell is activiated when investigative, humans/human magic, physical touch)
Cline- 49 (this spell immediately affects organisation, yet it is not long lasting

Sarah stared at her parchment. She was not getting it. She wish Hadley was here to help her through this one
