It's a cool evening for October. A full moon hangs heavy over the Forbidden Forest, and the stars are bright diamonds in the crisp night air. For those students and professors enjoying this term's prefect event, the weather is perfect bonfire weather. Take a break from the other activities and join your friends around the charmed fire. If you stay long enough, you may see the flames change colors.
Plenty of seats are available around the perimeter of the fire pit, including a few felled trees pulled out of the Forbidden Forest, a bench or two, and even a pile of blankets for those intrepid enough to sit on the ground. The fire is well fed and well maintained, so students shouldn't have to throw any logs on to keep it going.
And what would a bonfire be without food? On a table tucked back from the flames, students can find a variety of pajamajestic snacks: marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers for s'mores; hot dogs and buns; popcorn, both popped and unpopped; assorted finger foods like sandwiches, cookies, and pickles; and a seeming endless supply of hot chocolate and warm milk. Sharpened sticks rest against one end of the table, so be sure to grab one before heading back to the bonfire.
"Not eating? There's tons of premium snacks over there." West helpfully pointed out to his mate. His own plate, despite working on demolishing its contents for the past ten minutes, was still half full, stacked high with all sorts of delicious things. All for West, y'know? Yes.
Also, where was Loppy? Why wasn't Scan taking advantage of this whole thing? West would be if it wasn't for the fact that his girlfriend was stuck running one of those event things. Eh she was probably enjoying that more than she'd enjoy his company anyways.
Hmm? Looking over to his left, Ascanius saw that West was sitting round the campfire with a plate over flowing with food. For the briefest of moments he thought about his girlfriend and who would win in an eating competition between his mate and her. S'interesting thought. Though he was almost positive West would win under....circumstances. Ahem.
Tilting his head at the food, he shrugged, "Not really hungry, yeah? You are though. Jeez, man." He was obviously still on the amount of food stacked on his plate.

Well that was pretty normal not having played and all, at least she knew what Quidditch was and all that. "Yeah, I started in my first year, me and Theo Kinsley, we made the team as starting Chasers back then, and we've been playing on the team every year since. Last year Slytherin won the championship." And they'd been a big part of that and all. And it had felt like the culmination of four years hard work. That wasn't an achievement anyone could take away. "Its good that you're trying out."
Marissa smiled,"I figured it couldn't hurt to try so I went for it. Hopefully I make it, if not at least I tried." she said with a shrug. "Hopefully Slytherin can win the championship again this year." she added.

The first stop on Vesper's Perfect Event journey was the bonfire, of course. Not so much because she wanted to take a seat and not participate...but because there was a snack table. She liked snacks. S'mores! That would obviously be one considering the setup. Bonfires weren't real bonfires without s'mores.
Toddling over to the table, she seen she'd been right! Graham crackers, chocolate pieces, and marshmallows were there...as were a million other things. She tried not to get too much at first...because she sometimes did that thing where her eyes would be bigger than her stomach. So, starting small, Ves got s'more things and butterbeer. Keeping it simple for now.
...and she totally seen Ascanius and West. They both got a nod of recognition.
Also...tucked into the pockets of her pikachu onesie, there was a notebook. Her notebook. Just in case anything happened that was of interest...

Taylor came down, dancing and twirling. The air was a bit cool but she would be by the fire [s]next to a very handsome guy[s] so it wouldn’t matter if she was in an outfit that has short sleeves. Tay wasn’t going to deny that she was trying to look cute except to the really cute Nash. She wandered down to where she saw the fire was at, smiling in happiness. Taylor stood by the fire, crossing her arms partially for warmth. Tay stood there watching the fire dance and flicker while waiting for Nash to come. The fire was warm, to her delight, and it was a pleasant night out. A smile came to Taylor’s face as she closed her eyes, soaking in the fire’s warmth and trying to not get too excited at seeing Nash. Tay liked him... but wasn’t too sure if he liked her back or not… The day at the corn maze was still fresh in her mind and even caused her to laugh and smile even more. She loved how he chased after her and caught her. It was a fun time and she was happy to have met him during summer… She started to silently sing a song in Gaelic, letting the words flow up and down, matching her accent perfectly. Taylor swayed from side to side, sort of dance sort of not. Taylor was beaming in happiness as she swayed by the fire.
Brodie walked up and rubbed his arms, he was cold, but he was hoping to see Claudette tonight and get to hang with her for a little bit. He walked up to the fire with a small smile, it reminded him of camp... Well, camp before last year considering he had that bad accident.. But anyways because he was out here alone maybe he'd meet new people or see his few friends that he had made this year, but until then he just sat down and started to write his new song again. He'd have to get started on the request Vincent asked him to write for him to sing to Vincent. So yeah... Here Brodie was... alone by the fire.. He didn't really care for it to be that way either, though the song did need to be finished so he could get back to writing the music parts for everyone else too... Ugh, and assign who'd be doing what, this was the one thing he hated about being the composer and song writer, it took so much time to perfect and he'd have to start all over if something didn't seem right.

Yeah, Penelope was definitely heading for the food first. Food was the best thing about any event, so it deserved to get her attention first. The games and everything else could come later.
At first it seemed like a hard decision on which food she should eat first, but then she realized she could eat it ALL throughout the night, so she'd try everything at some point. So it was easy after realizing that to start with making s'mores. Those things were the best. She grabbed a couple graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate then looked around for a good place to sit and roast her marshmallow. Hmm...
Oh hey, there was Ascanius and West. That was a good place.
She plopped herself into the empty spot next to Ascanius and grinned at them both. "Hey guys." West seemed to have the right idea in getting food too, but Ascanius didn't seem to have gotten any of it. Weird boyfriend. Heh.

Honestly she didn't take complements well and this boy was nothing but one big complement after another. She wasn't sure who taught him how to be so sweet, but it was nice of him to always be polite and make people feel good. She looked at her minnie pj's and smiled again. "Well thank you.. It was a gift actually." Not that he cared, but she was going to say it anyway.
Seeing he didn't have anything to eat she pointed over towards the food, "Make sure to get some food, you can roast marshmallows at the fire. They are great for smores." Just a suggestion, but she always enjoyed that part of camping.

Minerva looked up when she heard someone and smiled as Kitty sat down. Picking up her teddy bear she put it on her lap. "Hey Kitty.. How's your station going? You are at the build a stuffed animal right?" She was glad she wasn't at that station for the couple reasons, but wondered if it was bothering Wade since Indy didn't seem to be here. "How's Indy feeling? She going to be able to make the event?" Minerva wasn't sure last she knew the girl was still sick in her common room.
Looking up at him as he said everyone was having a good time she looked around. "Yeah not many people at our event yet, but it seems everyone is having fun. I think the mattress sliding and the stuffed animals are the busiest. " She chuckled when she saw the pickles. "Honestly Wade.. pickles? I think you should cook us hot dogs.. That would go nicely with your pickles." Then she wouldn't have to go that close to the fire. Score for both things. Caught off guard by her question she shrugged, "I'm fine.." was her answer to everyone anymore. She wished a certain person was at the event with her, but she couldn't change it so she was trying to make the best of it. "I'm just glad I haven't run into too many couples, ya know?" She figured Wade would understand..
Well wasn't really his sort of thing, making a toy. 'sides, his girlfriend already had that one weird pig thing. One weird toy was enough.
"No, I mean, I'm smart, y'know?" West said easily and gave a little shrug. It wasn't like it was going to be a struggle for him. It was literally a matter of deciding which OWLs he'd bother to sit. Maybe it was a waste of brains given he didn't want to put them to any specific use, but it did mean that he did well enough in school to be allowed to do the things he DID want to do, namely Quidditch and music.
"I'll help you." He added. No big deal.
"well i sure hope you were smart." she knew he was smart. He was just a smart kinda guy really, she could tell he just screamed smart you know. Plus he said he didnt need his scores for what he wanted to do which was crazy. In year five west Odessa already had some sort of idea as to what he wanted to do in life, Ariana was mere months from graduation and had not a single clue as to what she wanted to do.. so she needed all the newts she can cause she just didnt know..
And he offered to help her.. he was two years under her and was offering to help.. this meant one thing in the girls brain.. she was dumb, thats for sure..."sure" she didnt elaborate any furter as the place was getting crowded as more snakes showed up.. Sonea and Ascanius., and others too.. meh.. whatever
Adelaide made a beeline for the bonfire once she was outside. Not because she was cold but because bonfires meant smores and nothing sounded better than a smore right now. It was quite obvious that was what the fifth year was here for.
Adelaide smiled at everyone already seated around the campfire, even the Groundskeeper who'd decided to join them. She went straight for the marshmallows, placing one on a stick before holding it over the fire. Yep. This was the best part of the whole thing and no one could tell her otherwise.

She had just made a stuffed hippogriff and had hot chocolate with Blue so she was feeling way better than when she came her dragged by Cat. She was totally going to thank Cat later. It was so better than staying in the dorms and under the covers alone. The alone thing was not good at all. The fifth-year wondered where to go. It got cold and she had forgotten to bring a light jacket with her. Probably because she wasn't planning on going?
With her stuffed hippogriff, the fifth-year ventured to the bonfire. Because warmth!! As she approached the fire she saw so many familiar faces. Hai friends! Mostly Slytherins, too, huh? Almost felt like the common room but out in the open....and with fire..and people from other houses.
She nodded at them and attempted a smile. Such a crowd and she didn't feel like crowds much for now.
Spotting red hair, Cassia wondered if it was Derry but she saw that it was Adelaide. She got closer to the girl and sat next to her. You know, they share a dorm might as well get to know the girl more. Though she already knew a couple of things. Like they both liked make-up and that was very important.
"Hey, Adelaide ," She cracked a small smile at her. "Mind if I join?" Maybe she was waiting for someone. Though Cassia already joined.

Oh looky! Foooooood! Adi was hungry! And wasn't it perfect with the huge bonfire and all? As he closed in towards the table, he could see the food better. Hot chocolate was the first thing to catch his eye. The boy LOVED the thing! He grabbed himself a cup and selected a few sandwiches and pickles. Okaaay, now to find himself a spot to nom on his food.
And that wasn't a problem! There were many chairs all around plus some fallen trees and blankets. Adi opted for the blankets.
There he went with the gorgeous thing again. Minerva was glad it was dark maybe he couldn't tell she was blushing again. Yeah, see the thing about a fire meant that Ascanius could see Minerva's face lit up very well in the flames. That meant that he totally saw her blush and it made him smirk inwardly. An almost victory type of smirk that would have been brilliant and attractive if it were better lit. Then again, he had that attractive thing down no matter what the expression.
Leaning back a little and crossing his arms with a smile, he went on, "Lovely. Just lovely." Whatever it was that she was wearing. Not to be a totally ignorant guy he glanced down to check what she was wearing. Oh wow. Yeah, that had a lot going on. Skirts liked their flare. Or was it Hufflepuffs? Pfft. Whatever.
"I'll be sure to do that, beautiful," he winked. 'Sides the lighting marshmallows on fire bit seemed entertaining as opposed to, well, the rest.

Aside from the fact that Cassia had already been sitting down, that didn't change the fact that Adelaide never had people wanting to sit with her anywhere. Hogwarts had been a nice change from that so far. She turned her eye back to her marshmallow as it shot up in flames.
Adelaide grinned pulling it back from the fire and blowing it out, leaving a very burnt marshmallow. She grabbed a graham cracker with some chocolate and squished it on. "Want a smore?" Might as well offer before she began to stuff her face with food.

Smiling back, how was the Build-A-Stuffed Animal station going? "It's quite a hit, actually. Alec and Nash also came over to make their stuff for their girls and all." Blinking back at her, he wondered if she was going to check it out soon. "How's yours going?" Oh.. Indy. His smile lessened, just slightly, since it was a bittersweet reason. "She's doing much better, no throwing up anymore.. but still not well enough to make it here." He could feel what Min must have been feeling not having to be around Ethan.
He nodded with her, as she talked about the busiest. "Oh yeah, I was thinking of checking out the mattress sliding pretty soon." But of course, hunger called, which reminded him. He then popped off the cap of the jar of pickles. Mmm.. the smell of it was fantastic to Wade. The daze of the pickles was blow away as he heard Min's voice again, making him laugh. "Hmm.. you know you're right, I think I will." He scooted closer to get some of the sticks provided beforehand. "Do you think they would also go well with s'mores too?" He thought of that, maybe having a pickle, s'more and hot dog combination.
Yes.. that could work. The juicy green tangy taste of pickles beneath the sweet chocolatey and fluffy marshmallow goodness.. Oh, he was doing it again wasn't he? He looked back at Min, as she talked about the couples. Yes, he knew that feeling, "I get you.. well, at least we got each other for company." That's right, the Kitty and Mouse duo. He slung his arm around hers for a quick side-squeeze before letting go. "Let's make some s'mores while we're at it."
Brodie walked up and rubbed his arms, he was cold, but he was hoping to see Claudette tonight and get to hang with her for a little bit. Claudette was having a ton of fun with all the activities the student leaders had planned for them, but she was starting to get a little hungry. She figured she'd take a break from all the fun and sit by the big bonfire for a bit and see what they had to eat. S'mores and hot dogs, she'd expect, but she figured she'd go over that way and just see.
Carrying her rolled up blanket in her Hello Kitty tote bag, she made her way over to the bonfire. It was pretty dark out by now and she saw plenty of shadowy figures, but she squinted in the fire light to try to see faces. She smiled at the first familiar one she came across. "Hi Brodie," she said as she stopped near him and pulled out her blanket before laying it out on the ground. She sat down on the blanket, leaning back as she rested her hands on the blanket behind her. Looking up at the boy, she added, "So.. having a good time..?" She knew he said he didn't know many people or have many friends, so it was nice to see him out.. she hoped he was getting on well.
Now.. there must be food around here somewhere, right?

She dragged her feet until she came to the bonfire, not paying attention to the faces or the voices that came with them--until she heard Cassia's somewhere...sitting and talking to someone that wasn't her. Ditched for a stranger, this night just kept getting better didn't it?
Lex plopped down and helped herself to a chocolate bar, her only source of candy seeing as Cassia made her come before she could grab her candy bag. She nibbled at the tip and watched the crackling fire. what else was there to do until she was allowed back up to her Common Room?
She should have brought her kneazle.

Alright. He wasn't frustrated anymore. Or angry. Or hurt. He just missed his bestfriend a whole lot. Hogwarts was incredibly boring without her. There was nothing to do. No one to talk to. No one to partner up with in classes (when she wasn't with Cassia and Lottie). And he knew she was going through her chocolate frog stash like crazy and he had plenty to offer her and it was so hard not to. He wanted to be able to do that again. And just hang out with her.
She'd be here, right? She wouldn't miss out on a party? And where else would she be but where there was food? Where there was chocolate, rather.
Aidan, dressed in flannel, red, plaid pajama pants and a Hogwarts sweatshirt, slowly weaved through the students already near the bonfire. He was walking on his toes a bit, to see over the heads of those taller than him, because he had to find HER.
He did. And he was quite glad she was alone, because Lottie would probably be incredibly mean to him right now, and he'd have to excuse them from her, and it would be awkward. And then he'd have to apologize to Lottie TOO. After Lex, though. Lex was most important.
He walked straight over to her, hands in his sweatshirt pocket, and came up behind her. Clearing his throat first, so as not to completely startle her in the dark, he said, "Can...can I talk to you?" COULD he? Would she reject him? Oh, Merlin, he hoped not. These thoughts made him nervous, though.

A bonfire!
Dylan had always wanted to go to one, but never had. They seemed real fun and the fact that there was one going on at Hogwarts tonight was just awesome! Looking up at the clear, starry sky, the first year smiled. It was a perfect night for one too. The cool air felt nice; it wasn't too cold out which was just right. And the stars seemed to have an extra shine tonight it felt like.
He looked around the bonfire and decided to take a seat upon one of the blankets, since they looked so cozy. The eleven year old hugged his newly made dragon stuffed animal close to his chest as he watched the flames of the bonfire dance.

So far, whenever Cassia joined people to sit with them they seemed not to be bothered, good sign, yeah? She must have chosen the right people to join. Well, except once actually but that didn't end that badly. Or maybe it did? Well, that was probably a lesson and an example. For now, she was glad that Adelaide didn't mind her sitting with her.
Cassia watched the fellow snake heating the marshmallow. It looked yummy but she was full and didn't feel like eating. She's come here to seek warmth. And because she had lost both Lex and Blue. "Thank you, but I ate before," Because she wasn't intending on coming in the first place but she was dragged her by the Cat. "It's getting chilly, yeah?" She commented, spreading her palms and reaching out for the fire. Not getting too close thought. She kept her stuffed Hippogriff in her lap. She still had to come up with a name for him. He deserved a name.
"Like this pajama party?" Cassia asked the red-headed conversationally. Did the other girl get a look at the other sections? Or did she come here first. "I made this just now," she held out inclined her head towards the stuffed toy. Did Adelaide think it was silly? Hopefully no. And just as she was chatting she spotted someone, Lex, she found her after all. But before she got to call over to her to join she spotted another someone. The someone Lex didn't want to come here in the first place. The snake pondered whether to get up and pull Lex away from him. Shoo, Ravenclaw! But then she thought it was Lex's decision, though she'd still keep an eye out. There was fire here by the way. Juuust saying.
Turning back to her companion while readjusting her sitting position so that the two fourth-years were on her field of vision. "How're you liking Hogwarts so far?" She asked which might have sounded like a very repeated question especially for the new ones but Cassia did really care to know the answer.

Before she knew it the bar of chocolate was gone and she found herself with nothing to snack on...until she reached over and picked up another bar. These were meant for the smores but she didn't feel for those. Just chocolate, those would do.
Lex rested her elbow on her leg and placed her chin in her palm, fixing her gaze on the fire once more. A month. A whole month. He hated her didn't he? Never wanted to talk to her again? Nothing? She sighed heavily, wishing she'd brought at least one chocolate frog. These bars weren't the same and wouldn't be the same no matter how many she ate.
Just as she was about to reach for what might have been her third bar of chocolate she heard...someone clearing their throat behind her? How. Very. Rude. She was trying to sulk in silence over here. Lex twisted, trying to get a better look at the idiot she was about to tell off but after seeing who it was her eyes widened and her mouth remained shut. He'd probably walked up to her by accident, right? Or maybe she was blocking the food?
...No? He wanted to talk to her? Talk? Not knowing what to say she simply shrugged. "Sure." What else WAS there to say? He'd already yelled it all. Rubbish friends like her did better saying as little as possible.

Ascanius was back to looking at West's plate and trying to do the numbers on how his friend could consume the amount of food he did everyday, but then someone pretty and kissable sat next to him. Hey, Pen. She got a huge smile and an arm wrapped around her shoulder. Yeah, she could stay right about here. That was cool with him.
Vesper also got a wink and a nod in her direction. If she wanted to come and sit with them he would be chill with that. 'Sides he had music questions to ask her and West was here.
Ahem.
There is was again.. How did every word come out of this young snakes mouth make her uncomfortable, but not like annoyed uncomfortable. Just not in her element uncomfortable. Her cheeks blazed yet again. "Where is Penelope? She's coming right?" She hadn't seen the girl around since the beard incidents.
Again he started with the beautiful thing. Minerva couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Well I'm glad. We made sure to have plenty of fun things tonight and I would hate to know that some people didn't at least try the food." She looked back at the fire trying to stop the blushing. "Going out for quidditch again?" There that was a topic that he couldn't take and make her blush, right?

Blinking back at her, he wondered if she was going to check it out soon.
A frown crossed her lips as he said about Alec and Nash. Not that she didn't love her badgers it was the boyfriend thing. That was why she liked the idea of the build a stuffed animal. She knew the boyfriends would get so many brownie points for making animals for their girlfriends, but she wanted nothing to do with helping, because she didn't have enough Reese Cups and Diet Coke to get her through seeing the cute couples making animals. "Yeah.. I bet Ella and.." wait he said Nash.. "Who is Nash dating?" She knew he had been talking to Taylor, but were they dating now? Hmm that would be interesting. "Did you make an animal for Indy? I bet she will love that." Absentmindedly she started fidgeting with her own teddy bear on her lap. "Oh ours is going well. There has been some people there, but I don't think it's been as busy as other places." She shrugged she didn't mind that it wasn't. She was having fun over there.
When he talked about Indy she couldn't help but put a hand on his arm. She knew how it felt to be places and have to watch everyone else being cute. "She will be well again soon and then you two can hangout all over the castle." That was the plus of her still being at school she would be better and then she could be at other functions. Min on the other hand wasn't that lucky this term. Minerva laughed as he talked about the mattress sliding, she could so picture Wade surfing on those mattress and she laughed harder. "Kitty don't be showing anyone up. You know you have surfing experience so mattress sliding will probably come easy to you."
She clapped as he agreed to make the hot dogs.. "Thanks.. I.. I've come along way with everything, but.. well you know.." He knew everything from last term, so he probably already knew why she didn't want that close to the fire. Thankfully she was able to just sit back and enjoy it from her summers treatment. Cringing though, "Wade don't even think I'm sitting here if you put pickles on the smores. I tried your chili, but not on smores." That just sounded gross. Now Pickles on hot dogs wouldn't be bad. She felt his arm go around her and she smiled. He was such a great friend. "Thanks Wade" not even using the nickname she hoped he knew how much she appreciated him and all he had done for her.
Nothing? ...No? He wanted to talk to her? Talk? Not knowing what to say she simply shrugged. "Sure." What else WAS there to say? He'd already yelled it all. Rubbish friends like her did better saying as little as possible.
Yes? That was a yes! He made it past the initial hurtle. Now...onto the hard, heavy stuff. That she might not accept at all. And...he'll have to accept that. Because he wasn't going to...have another...scene with her. He...wasn't going to do that to her. That would embarrass them both and hurt...maybe the both of them, but definitely her. Probably.
Aidan walked around the bench and sat down beside her. Close. He took a deep breath before beginning, careful to look her in the eye. "Lex..." It felt good to finally say her name. To talk to her. "...I'm sorry...for everything. I...was a real idiot," he hung his head at this, eyes turning to the fire.
He...didn't have words beyond that to say, really. He was sorry. He was an idiot. He didn't know what he was thinking. He no longer understood why he was thinking it. And he understood where she had been coming from a lot better now.
He also realized that he was the one messing up their friendship, not her. And that her feelings toward him...it was more of a shame that he didn't return them, than that she let him know about them. Aidan still wasn't sure that he wanted to know, but it was done already, and he knew and...he didn't care as long as they were still friends.

Sky's first stop once she reached the Prefect Event was the bonfire. Because that's where the food was and Quidditch tryouts were definitely a hunger inducing activity. And maybe once she had some food in her, the other things might be more appealing.
So, of course, she grabbed a hot dog, bun and a stick before plunking herself down on one of the logs. They were the only place to sit when at a bonfire. Naturally. She stuck the hot dog on the stick, then held it slightly above the flames, close enough that it would cook but far enough away that it wouldn't burn. Since that would take a bit, she started people watching. She saw West over talking to some girl who looked familiar. Someone who was also trying out for the team, perhaps? And the groundskeeper sitting by himself, wearing a rather amusing looking shirt. Actually, she kind of wanted to go over there and do what the shirt seemed to be suggesting. Give him a big ol' bear hug. Hmmm.... that was interesting.
