sorry if someone said this in between me posting and me choosing an answer lol. West decided to ignore Sarah today. It wasn't that he didn't like her or whatever it was just sometimes she said things that made him wonder... like... he thought she was smart most of the time, but every now and then she made these huge generalizations and spouted them as fact and he thought she was better than that really. Oh well, class starting. West eyed the picture and then put his hand up. "He was a pureblood. His family was one of the The Sacred Twenty-Eight that Nott claimed as truly pure in 1930s Britain. He had a son but no grandchildren, and I think the family died out after that, at least as purebloods?" Nod. He'd read that recently. The Pureblood directory. For the lulz. |

Cutty didn't feel like venturing a guess, although given all the this man supposedly did in his life - most of which, Cutty found terribly impressive, especially that part about almost being Prime Minister and putting away his kid in Azzie!-it was entirely possible that any guess Cutty might offer could've actually occurred within the life of this Barty Crouch wizard. Cutty's hand went up anyway. "Professor? Might I be able to get a large copy of the photo for myself after class?" Cause it was going STRAIGHT over the headboard of his bed in the Slythie boy's dorm. "For study purposes." It seems he'd found himself a new heroe. |
Wow...that man had really greased over hair... ...but Sophie imagined that wasn't really what the professor meant when he asked who the man was and what he was known for. She listened to her classmates until she just couldn't keep up with the different answers anymore, and then she tried to come up with something of her own. She raised her hand. "So like they said, that's Barty Crouch, Sr," she said. She didn't know his loooong name. Just Barty. "He was a department head in the Ministry of Magic." ...and he did other stuff, but her classmates had already said most of them. |
Text Cut: Professor Can't Git Wrong! AS IF it wasn't enough that he had a permanent seat without his back to anyone, got to smell people's dirty feet, and had already met a man he could truly idolize, PROFESSOR DURSLEY WAS SMITING CUTTY'S ARCH-FOE NUMERO UNO, THAT WATER-RETAINING TEBO, TORA GALLAWAY IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE CLASS!!!! Cutty leaned forward over his book, his breath becoming laboured and intense. He was very neared to tears and couldn't remember the last time he'd been this happy. He LOVED History of Magic! |
Caleb couldn't remember a whole lot about that Crouch guy and the stuff he did - it was easier to remember the son for some reason - so he raised his hand and rattled off the first thing he could remember. "Um, he was killed during the Triwizard Tournament in the 90's, I believe," he said. And his son had killed him too, right? He couldn't remember. |
SPOILER!!: Not Quite, but fun SPOILER!!: Alexa's Harsh Grandfather? SPOILER!!: Bad Blood SPOILER!!: HE DEAD...and a few other things to keep in mind SPOILER!!: MoM stuff Quote:
SPOILER!!: Cutty Wait...was the boy okay? he moved over to his desk, and looked over him. His breathing was heavy...OH MERLIN WAS HE HAVING AN ASTHMA ATTACK! Quick someone call the Healer!! ...no, he was smiling... ...This Kid was confusing. "Do keep you're head up. Mr. Mordaunt, I'll consider giving out pictures of Crouch after I'm finished." He's gonna keep an extra eye on this one. Tiberius shuffled back to the front of the class, and to the Blackboard where he proceeded to write BARTEMIUS CROUCH SR. down in bold white-chalky letters. He then flicked his wand the image of Crouch, the pull-down screen went up then moments later pulled itself back down with a new image on it. "Next up! What creature is this?" Simple enough, he wasn't looking for CoMC imformation, just what it was. Then they can move on to the next one. |
Apparently a proper lesson had been taking place, but Ascanius was far too busy doing pretty much anything but pay attention to notice, yeah? This new guy was a spazz and just kind of a bore. Anyway, he was lifting a picture now and asking what stuff was. Oh, that was a cockatrice. Kind of a nasty animal. He had a run in with one at the petting zoo this summer. The fifth year didn't wanna talk about it. Also, he didn't wanna waste his breath answering the Professor either. So he kept his RIGHT and amazing answer...to himself. But he knew it was a cockatrice, yeah? He did. |
Minerva smiled as he mentioned her answer always taking to professors that gave positive feed back it made her want to pay attention more. So she took a few notes and waited for the lesson to move on. When he finally started to get... worried.. She looked at the boy he seemed to have concern over, but then again the boy didn't seem bad to her so she turned back in her seat and just waited, or maybe glanced a few times to see what exactly was going on. Who wouldn't though it was in the same class. Finally moving on and see the next picture Minerva put her hand up, "Professor the roster dragon looking creature is called a cockatrice." She had seen it in her book studying for OWLs a few terms ago. The seventh year scribbled a few more notes making sure to add that to her list of things to look up for NEWTs as well. |
Adelaide wrote down little notes about what everyone was saying about Barty Crouch, Sr. It was sad how lacking her knowledge was in the History of Magic. Well. Guess that just meant she was going to have to find some more books to read later. She looked back up at the picture...and just stared. What in the world was that thing? She raised her hand. "A dragon-chicken hybrid?" That is what it looked like. |
Ascanius will always be Ascanius. Just saying. Demotion. Trust Lottie to bring out the bad happenings in people's lives. HA! No, but really, it hadn't been an interesting life. The Bartemius Crouch Sr one, that is. Surely his son would've been more interesting to study. Which simply made her wonder why on Earth were they discussing this particular character? Everyone has the same question, yeah? Ahhhh. But that creature. Hand up again. "That's a cockatrice, of course." OF COURSE. Yes, Ascanius, you were right. Now, Dursley, explain to Ms. Wisteria of Hogwarts how was this relevant? "Are we going to study the Triwizard Tournaments of the past, by any chance? Because I believe Duncan Fletcher and the other two champions...," we don't really care about them, "...had to deal with a cockatrice back in 2073." When the Hufflepuff won, FYI. And then there was the cockatrice that got away in the 1792 Triwizard Tourney too. Is this connected somehow? Bartemius Crouch, cockatrice...Triwizard Tournaments gone wrong? Didn't they all go wrong somehow? |
Oh. Wrong Barty Crouch. Well, Adrienne had been close, and hey, they had the same name, so how could she be expected to keep them straight? She was only human, after all. The next picture shown she was a lot more sure about, although she couldn't help but laugh a bit at the expression on the creature's face. It looked like it was either about to stab someone or just so done with life, and she couldn't decide which it was. "It's a cockatrice, sir," she piped up, along with someone else, and then went back to looking at its dumb, dumb face. Giggle. |
Demotion? So.... International Transportation wasn't as high up as Magical Law Enforcement? That was interesting. West considered people what he knew who were in important Ministry positions, or had been at one time or another. Definitely interesting. And that was a cockatrice, they were cool. West leaned forward in his seat, interested to see where this was going. |
Seemed like the cat, or should he say...weird chicken-lizard was out of the bag now on more than one account. He nodded to everyone who was saying Cockatrice,, but his attention SHOT directly at Ms. Wisteria of Hogwarts. and he jabbed a finger at her while his other hand wrote Cockatrice on the blackboard Quote:
OOC: Same as before, I'm looking for at least one bit of information from each of you. |
Yep, the professor got GLARES from Sky for that whole 'demotion' comment. Because it seemed like he was saying that other departments weren't was important. But before she could call him on it, he'd moved on. And then on again. Was it just her or did Professor Dursley need to chill on the coffee? Or whatever it was that made him hyperactive. Anyway, due to the hints, she was able to guess who it was in the picture. "Duncan Fletcher? Doesn't he own that tattoo parlor in Diagon Alley now?" |
Laura raised her hand and smiled. "It's Duncan Fletcher, who compete and might have won the Twi-Wizard cup." Laura wasn't so sure, could she phone a friend or asked the audience or wasn't that allowed in these sort of quizzes anymore. |
I have determined that HOM is too stimulating for Cutty. Steadying his breath and calming once again Cutty gave his History of Magic Professor a compliant nod and went back to note taking. He imagined what Mr. Crouch had to endure to get to the various positions he'd held throughout his life and admired the mans obvious charisma and what Cutty had assumed was a flawless strategy. He thought about his picture and how it was going to look on his wall of 'Do Like'. His attention piqued again at the next part of the lesson. Duncan Fletcher. Must have been as he couldn't have been Barty Crouch Jr., who was the other bloke mentioned and this man looked nothing like the Snr. Were they all going to get tatoos?????!!!!!! Calm down, Cutty. Calm down. |

Also, shoes were being confiscated. Okay. They were yet to find out about the shoe's deal. There definitely was a historic significance, or a past event that had such an impact on Professor Dursley. She made a mental note to search history for shoes-related matters, in her spare time. Here was another picture. She could have not known the face had she not done some research with Dora at some point on the champions for reasons. So she did recognize the face. But Sky already said his name.. "He was a Hufflepuff." She contributed. "Is he dead?" She casually asked. Because they usually talk about deceased people. History. Duh. Did Fletcher become history? Were they going to pause momentarily in his memory, take hats off? Or shoes seeing no one had any hats on. And was Cutty ok? Cassia gave the younger boy a curious look. |
Catch up. :) Quote:

Didn't this professor know the mustache made the man and not the other way around. That was an evil mustache. Nigel was amused when he took what he wrote as his middle name literally. He did 'wait for it'. This guy and Flamsteed were indeed similar. The second picture was obviously a cockatrice. So now need to say what was already said. But wow Lottie with the correct assumption on what they were learning. The next picture looked like the guy who gave tattoos or did in Diagon Alley. All the other information was new to Nigel. This man did seem awesome. |

As for the picture, Kat could only stare. Well... he looked pretty cute. Staring was allowed because the boy looked nice, but she then blinked a bit. Right, this was History of Magic class. She needed to listen and answer the question because she totally didn't answer the two previous ones. Screw how fast the lesson was going. "Duncan Fletcher. Wasn't he a Hogwarts champion in the last Triwizard Tournament about nine terms ago?" Yeah, she knew her things even if she was probably eight by that time. |
Five points. Five points? FIVE POINTS?! Tora was outraged. She was just trying to show a scholarly interest in Animagi! And he wanted her [/i]shoe?[/i]. This was ridiculous. She ripped off the gray converse and was about to chuck it angrily at the Professor's HEAD when she stopped herself just in time. No point in losing more House points with anger. So instead of chucking it at the Professor, she went up and docilely placed it by his feet. "Of course, Professor. I'm sorry for not paying attention." she said sweetly. Her voice showed no sarcasm, nor any disrespect, but inside she was rolling mad. And then that SNAKE kid had to go and smirk at her. She shot daggers with her eyes at the kid before turning back to the board. As she had never been in a tattoo shop in her life, she did not have any idea who the person on the board was, but she was going to take a gander and say that "Is this guy the winner of the last Triwizard Tournament?" she asked, still grating over losing all those precious points. |
Forrest blushed when Professor warned him to write his name down. He quickly wrote 'Forrest Charlton, Second year, Hufflepuff' and leaned back in his seat. He eyed the Zahra girl some, then the class started. He looked at the picture, but he didn't know the man and he was too shy to venture a guess, so... Barty Crouch. He wrote the name down. Then an animal... cock--something. He wasn't taking CoMC, so he couldn't know that either... then a man's picture came up, and again he didn't know him. He was zoning out, not into sleepland but into I-don't-know-any-of-this land. He looked outside the window. How cold was it outside? |
Sarah can't see the pic as OOC photobucket images don't show themselved to me Sarah did see the picture of Mr. Crouch. She had read about him before and things, the moral of his story.. that a person should balance career and family well, and when a person is too much career, they lose sight of the big picture -their family. The family line died out.. terribly frightening. She wrote down some notes, not that it was anything new just because. Then the next picture was shown, yet Sarah did not see that as the child in front of her sat up and Sarah could not see. She wrote down what the professor replied as well. Sarah was going to let the ptrofessor know that she could not see the picture, when a new picture came on. The only pther person that stood out was Duncan Fletcher, so it was probably him. |
Kace was impressed with the picture of the dragon looking bird. He chuckled at that and he copied it down in his notebook that it was a cockatrice. That is a cool name. Then his ears perked up when one of his classmates said they would learn something about the Triwizard Tournament. He liked learning about that event in history. His parents told him about it and he wished he could have watched it. Then he heard the professor move on. He showed a picture of a cool man. He did admire his suit. Kace remembered some of his cousins showing him this picture. Then it clicked! "Professor that dude Duncan Fletcher he won the triwizard tournament!" |
