Gryffindor Common Room

The official home of the Lions, the Gryffindor common room, is found on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The entrance to the common room is the portrait of the delightful Fat Lady, and in order to gain entrance to their home away from home, Lions must know the password and speak it to her.

This terms password is ‘Flibbertigibbet’.

Be sure to remember those words...and keep it a close secret, for it's the current password you'll need to speak in order for the Fat Lady to swing away from the hole and allow you to enter Gryffindor Tower. Once you're lucky enough to scramble through, you'll find that the common room is a circular area full of squashy armchairs and tables. To the side of the common room you will find the study tables and bookshelves which are equipped with the resources and materials required to complete any homework assignments. Fixed to the wall by the windows you will find the noticeboard for classes and other school announcements.

A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace takes up one side of the wall. It's the perfect place to relax and hang out after a long day of classes. If however you are in need of a nap a good night's rest then there are two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. Boys dormitories are upstairs and to the right, while girls dormitories are upstairs and to the left. Be sure you don’t go breaking any of the rules by attempting to go up the wrong staircases. Boys don’t stand a chance of beating the enchanted staircase, and frankly girls should know better.

For whatever reason you're here, make sure you take good care of your home away from home. There's bound to be a perfect or your Head of House lurking in the shadows.

She. Was. Home. Jezzabelle collapsed on one of the squishy chairs in the common room and stared at the fire. This was home. She stared at the portrait door. The stairs that lead up to the dormitories. The fire. The everythingness of the place that she was in. She was tired, but she was also more content just sitting here than she would be crawling into a bed.

Anyone? ^_^

First night away from his family. Let's all just let him sink that into to his big brain because he sure didn't know it was going to this difficult to be away from the Lone star state.

Making his way down the common room he pulled out a chocolate bar he had in his pocket, opened the wrapper and began munching away!

*cricket noise*

was it was this lonely here?

Jezzabelle looked up from the fire at the sound of approaching footsteps. With a bright smiled she greeted the boy she had met at the feast. "Hello Malcolm." She turned back to the fire. "How have you been?"

Phew. Now was the time to rest. Making his way through the Gryffindor entrance Tag glanced around at the red decorated common room and looked directly onto the couch. Seeing as no one else was sitting there the boy smiled to himself and sat down on the couch. Bouncing lightly on the material he found a comfortable spot and rested his head against the backside of the couch. "Ahhhhh, yes. No need for cleaning up this term. This is the... life." Tag spoke in a slow, satisfied voice as he slowly began to close his eyes.

Gryffindors keep it quiet. The unicorn leprechaun boy was a threat, according to the ministry of magic and their classification of creatures.

He smirked at that thought.

A young lady caught his attention.

Ooooh heyyy it's the nice girl from the feast!

"Hi Jezze!" Malcolm beamed and waved. "I've been okay I guess, kinda missing my folks. And how are you?" he replied.

He figured it was impolite to eat in front of someone without offering a piece "d-do you want a piece of chocolate?" Malcolm asked her.

He loved snacks as everyone could clearly tell. :3

As she made her way through the entrance to the common room Blair repeated the password over in her head flibbertigibbet, flibbertigibbet, flibbertigibbet. Now please try and remember it! she told herself.

It had been such a long day she had planned to head straight up to the dormitories and into bed. However now she was in the common room she changed her mind. Blair looked around taking in her surroundings, it looked so cosy and homely. As she made her way over to one of the chairs by the fire she recognised a few of her fellow Gryffindors from the start of term feast. She sat down and let out a sigh "ahhh, time to relax before heading up to bed I think."

Penelope, admittedly, was still a TINY bit uncomfortable being in the common room, though she'd never admit that out loud to anyone. She was fine overall anyway, it was just a minor discomfort when she remembered the dementor incident last term. There were a lot of those all over the castle, of course, but the common room one bothered her the most. It seemed okay so far this term though, and she was pleased to see the turnstiles weren't in the common room anymore. So she was okay and managed to hide that thought just fine.

Deciding to take one of the empty seats, she sat down before noticing Tag in the chair next to it. And he was...taking a nap? Hm. Yeah, not on her watch. Heh.

"'Sup Tag," she said loudly, hoping it'd wake him up.

Sleep, sleep, sleep. That would be pleasant, wouldn't it be? Although, he didn't get to have much, if any at all sleep. Hey, he wanted rest and to dream about stuff. Couldn't he just get a simple thing like that for once? Nope. Haha.

Slowly opening his eyes again he turned his head to his side and saw Penelope there. Hey, they hadn't spoken in forever, good thing was, they weren't fighting or anything.

"Oh, hey, Penelope. I was gonna try to sleep some..." He said smiling at her, "but that's out of the question now. How are you on this fine day?"

Jezz smiled and nodded in understanding, "I missed my parents a lot too. It was always great to see them on holidays though." She still missed them but the distance from them was something she adjusted to. She missed being at Hogwarts more anyway.

She looked at the chocolate and shook her head and gave him a small smile. "I'm good. I ate about a hundred chocolate frogs earlier." She looked at the fire again. "So what are you looking forward to the most?"

Malcolm nodded "Yeah that's very true, I mean I guess I'll feel this way for a while the only time I was away from them was when my middle school class went camping for five days." He giggled. But it was true, he's never been far away however there was always a first for everything.

"Okay." Malcolm nodded and smiled taking a bite of the chocolate bar. "Hmmm mostly to fit in and make lots of friends and learn a lot about my wizard side." He beamed! "How long have you been here at Hogwarts?" Malcolm nicely asked.

Jezz smiled, "I've been here three of my six years. I came my first two but then I ended up going to Bauxbatons until last year and now I'm back. I was so glad I didn't have to resort." She tugged on her red hair and smiled even more. "Making friends is easy. The hardest part for me was knowing they had to go on."

She missed her older friends, but they were out in the real world now, and she wouldn't be too far behind. "Is this your first year here?" She wouldn't know...she had been gone for three years after all.

Malcolm nodded and smiled, he understood how that felt since he to moved schools quite often back in Texas. "That's great! How did you like Beauxbatons?" he was always curious about wizarding schools, to see how much different they were from muggle ones.

"Yes." He nodded taking a bite from his chocolate bar. "It feels strange to be a newbie when I'm in the fourth year classification. I would have really liked to started out since I was eleven, but my mom didn't want me too." Malcolm was quite disappointed in this, but that was then and this is now he's finally in Hogwarts and that's what matters. No complaining Malcolm!

Jezz chewed on her lip and tugged a little more on her hair. Did she really want to tell him the truth about how much she honestly disliked the school? She hadn't really been open with anyone but Hannah about anything. Going with her gut she smiled, "It was okay. Not as amazing as Hogwarts and definitely not as home feeling."

She gave the boy a megawatt smile. "Parents usually know whats best though. However, you did make it here in the end right?" She wondered what it would be like to officially come to Hogwarts at the age fourteen. "You'll love it here if you don't already. Everything is just like a big and sometimes dysfunctional family." It was perfect though. "What classes are you looking forward to? Personally I can't wait to get elbow deep in some dirt." Sigh, Herbology, her one true love.

She'd half-hoped that he might jump out of his seat in surprise or something, but nah, that didn't happen. That was okay though, she hadn't done anything REALLY scary or anything. Maybe the next time she caught him sleeping in the common room she'd do something scary. She wasn't sure what, but it'd be funny. Probably.

And no, Penelope wasn't gonna warn him about it either. Wouldn't be as scary/funny if he expected it, now would it?

She smiled. "I'm pretty good, I guess. What about you? Besides not getting to sleep."

Ahhh, a smile. That was nice to see. She was doing good. Tag always liked hearing positive answers from his friends. Even better because he hadn't talked to her in a while, but Penelope was tough enough to hold her own fort. "Pretty good or pretty awesome?" He asked her back, sitting up more straight, and pointing at her in a cheesy manner. Besides, Penelope had always been awesome.

Expressing a slightly annoyed look in her way, not take it seriously, Tag went on to answering, "Excellent. Really excellent. Biter gave me a bat, last year for my birthday, and well, I'm deciding to put it to temporary use and try out for Quidditch. I'm assuming you're trying out as well?" This was something they could both talk about. Perhaps Penelope could recount one of her favorite matches. "As well, if you try to sneak up on me I may just have the bat at handy." he continued with a smirk. But he wouldn't actually use it on Penelope.

"I suppose. He nodded "My brother and dad had to really compromise with my mom to let me be here. My brother wanted to come here too but he wasn't allowed and missed his magical opportunity." Sad but true, Mac's (Malcolm's nickname) older brother will never live the Hogwarts experience.

Malcolm thought for a second "I'm really excited for History of Magic! I want to know as much as I possibly can!" he beamed "you like plants?" He smile all cheesy.

Finally! After all the fiasco Abbi was able to enter the tunnel room to her common room for the first time. The strawberry blonde finnished her walk through the tunnel and scanned the big room before her. It was red. Full of red, but it looked really good and almost like a king's palace, except in this case Queen cause Abbi wasn't a boy with cooties. EWW no.

Thumbs up for the sofas though, as well as the fire place too. She couldn't wait to shnuggle up with Whiskers along their whilst thinking about some fairy stories. And OH! Would you look at that view! With her little feet, Abbi rushed towards the window and peeked out at the grounds. So pretty! Surely only special fairies got to live in a place like this. Luuucky Fairy Abbi Campi.

BEAM! She was totally okay with this to be her home for the year, but you know what the best part was?

CANDY ALL THE TIME WITHOUT MOMMY KNOWING! Giiiiiiigggle. Abbi grabbed some muggle red vines from her pocket, plonked on a sofa and began chewing away. This was totally the Fairy Witch Lion life! Best life EVER!

Blair noticed one of the boys she had met earlier waving at her. She waved back "hello again Malcolm." Wow her memory was better than she thought, Blair thought she wouldn't have remembered any the new names she'd learned.

Blair could see that Malcolm was already mid conversation with one of the other girls and did not want to interrupt by just walking over and joining in.

Well, when he put those options up... "Both, I guess," Penelope replied with a grin. They both fit, in her opinion. She was good and awesome. It was a great combination, yeah?

Oh, Alice had given him a bat? That actually kinda made sense and was the sort of gift Alice would give someone. And he was trying out for Quidditch with it! Even better. "Awesome. I signed up too, of course. It'll be fun having you back on the pitch again." He hadn't joined since their second year and that...hadn't been the best of years in the beginning. But a lot had changed since then, and the team was even better now, so it would be good. She couldn't help but laugh when he 'threatened' to use his bat on her. "Yeah, well, I'm not scared of you or your bat." At least not off the Quidditch pitch. On the pitch, it didn't matter because it was part of the game - though they WOULD be on the same team, so hopefully they'd avoid taking teammates out - but off the pitch, if he used it, he'd have a lot of people to answer to. Including her. Heh.

See, she was awesome and cool. And her agreeing with it off the bat, that of course made her more awesome and cool. Penelope knew where she stood. So, Tag merely nodded at her comment. She was a smart girl.

When Alice had given Tag the bat he had no clue what to do with it. Alice had even got him a pillow, for him to practice with by using the bat. So every now and then he carried the pillow and bat with him, but rarely ever used it. Most random present he'd ever gotten. "Seeker of course." Tag said, smiling knowingly. No one could take that spot from Penelope. "Yeah, I'm really ready for try outs. And you'll crush it hard, for sure, I know that." Cause Penelope was the best.

Tag laughed when Penelope said she wasn't scared of him or his bat. He figured. The boy wasn't scary in any way. Now that he thought of it, when he first knew Penelope she sorta scared him. "Yeah, you shouldn't be scared of me or my bat. That's a smart thing. Innocent as a kitten."

By the way, where was Spot?

"A lot," was all she said. She didn't want to be rude but Jezz didn't really like talking about it. Those few years had been the worst. "I'm just glad to be back at home." Here in the squishy arm chair surrounded by a warm fire and the colors of her Lion family.

She smiled, "Enjoy your magical opportunity and write him about it." She wish she had siblings but she was an only child and she kinda liked it that way but at the same time it bothered her

Jezz cringed. History of Magic was one of her worst subjects. "Like would be an understatement. I love plants. I even have my own greenhouse at home." And she had her two most important plants stored here at Hogwarts in the student gardens. Safe and sound.

She thought this moment would never come but it finally did. No more feast, no more forcing herself to look everywhere but the Ravenclaw table, no more having to talk to people to keep herself heavily distracted. Now that the feast was over she felt drained and had what was left of an earlier, self-induced headache. Note to self, in future when trying to stay distracted choose one distraction instead of several.

Alexa dragged her feet as she made her way across the Common Room. There would be no wasting of time, her bed was calling her and she wanted to spend as much time with it as possible. It was the easiest way to forget today afterall.

Speaking of beds, there was a certain kneazle that clearly wasn't in hers. Lex scowled down at the feline who'd taken an obvious interest in watching one of the first years she'd seen at the table. With a heavy sigh she walked over and scooped him up. Bed for them both. The firstie in the couch got a nod and a casual sentence. "Interesting choice in candy."

Yeah, she was over today.

“Oh my word” that was the first thought that popped into the head of the 11-year-old wizard. Jayden was finally at the place of his dreams. Everything was as his mom said it would be, the red stuff everywhere and the huge sofas.

He walked into the big room and looked around, absorbing everything there is to see. His tabby kitten, Charlie, pushed his head out of his coat. Jayden managed to sneak his kitten all the way from platform 9 & ¾. He did looked like he had a dislocated hip because of the kitten but people would probably never remember that.

Skipping over to the sofa, he said hi to a girl eating red vine candy. “Hi, I’m Jayden, first year. What’s your name?” giving a small smile.

Then hearing another girl’s voice, he looked up to locate the source. Oh it was Lex from the Gryffindor table during dinner. “Hi Lex!” he said, whilst smiling at her.

You two! <3

Nommy nommy nom nom.

With her small teeth Abbi chewed on her sweet, delicious tasting red vines. She was perfectly happy just the way everything was. So happy in fact that it was barely on her mind where her Whiskers had gone. He was probably sleeping though, he did that often. She'd find him later cause now she was having her candy moment.

Om nom nom nom. Om nom--

She paused her biting to look up as one of the taller people from the feast came by to pick up a different kind of looking cat that Abbi had never seen before. A comment was made, one the strawberry blonde was slightly confused about. Did she mean interesting in a good or bad way? Pshht. Had to be good. "Thank you!" She gave the girl a beam. To share the candy or not? Cause you know she could totally finish it all on her own.

Manners though. Oh well. Some sharing wouldn't hurt ....too much. "Do you want one?" ONE. Did you hear that? Not more than that.

Would you look at that? Someone HER age and not so tall. He got extra beams, till he kept on coming closer and closer. COOTIES. He was going to give her ---Phew. He hadn't touched her...yet.

"You're a firstie like me!" Her beam came back on. "I'm Abbi...and please don't give me cooties." Next thing he'd be hugging her or something and she'd freak. NOOOT HAPPENING NOPE NOPE.
