Cozy Nook Outside Professor Romanos' Office

http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...anosOffice.jpg

Around the corner from the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom is a cozy little nook that could almost be easily missed, in which sits a quaint little waiting area for all those who wish to visit Professor Romanos. There are a variety of dark reddish-brown leather chairs for those to sit comfortably on, surrounding a low, rich colored mahogany table that has been conveniently stacked with a few magazines for enjoyment while waiting. Underneath sits a soft carpet that matches the rest of the décor, giving the area a rustic and inviting place to be in. Right next to the door sits a little perch where a working little metal made snidget sits; most of the time. It does truly love to have the spotlight on him and will bug you if it isn't. If one wishes to visit the professor, all they have to do is knock. Keep in mind though, there may be others already in the office and if that's the case, feel free to make yourself comfortable. Fall asleep if you must. The Professor doesn't mind; just as long as you aren't missing any lessons.

OOC: Please post here first by having your character knocking on the door.

It took a while for West to decide which professor to go to, but once he'd decided he was confident that it was the right choice. Professor Romanos would definitely listen and help his brain work through things and probably explain things without getting all up in arms too. He knocked and then waited.

Yup.

Just waiting, eyeing the metal snigdet.

... actually it was pretty comfy. Maybe he'd nap.

She'd been expecting a knock. Or was she? Did she even hear one? Glancing up from looking under one of her chairs to catch Erma, Medea frowned momentarily as she stared at the door. Yes, it was decided, she definitely heard a knock. Adjusting her vest, the Professor stood up and opened the door, glancing out. Oh!

"Hello, Mister Odessa." Her smiled and tone were as warm and inviting as ever. No sleepy eyes already, right?

Oh that didn't take long.

"Hi professor." West was inclined to be calm and comfortable given Professor Romanos was, as he had expected, welcoming enough. "I was just thinking about... things. And I wanted to ask some... stuff. If that's okay?"

Mhmmm. As clear as that could've sounded, it was probably best hold off on conclusions for a little while longer. "Of course. Sure. Come on in." Moving out of the way and opening the door a bit more, a wild Erma with an extremely fat tail ran by behind her, causing Medea to quietly clear her throat and give another option. "Or ve can stay out here if you vish. Votever you are comfortable vith."

will post him there in a bit

"Inside is good." West said, sounding cautious. He got up and, not particularly bothered by sharing the space with a pet, went into the office.

Ethan walked up to the Professor's door and knocked. Deciding to sit and wait he sat down comfortably and decided that this wasn't going to be so bad after all. Then he saw the snidget. That sort've put him on edge. He was excited about this long-term project but couldn't help feeling a bit nervous about it. The assignment was worth 20% of their grade. There was nothing to do but sit and wait.

After setting up the notes for their next lesson, Medea glanced over her desk to her door. Unlike the last time, she was certain someone had knocked. After fidgeting with her desk drawers and a pile of papers, only to just leave them on the ground, the defense professor hopped over them and opened the door a moment later. "Mister Fallows." she smiled, keeping the door half closed so no curious kitties could get out. "Is there something I can help you vith?

masterofelves 05-28-2013 11:50 AM

Ethan was startled by the sudden appearance of the professor. "Oh, yes. I just had a few questions about the long-term assignment.", he replied.

OOC: Sorry, about no quotes. I don't know how to do them.

Did he? Quite frankly, she was happy that he'd come with questions instead of sitting confused with no answers for the rest of the term. "Oh, of course. Vould you like to come in or vould you feel more comfortable sitting out here?"

masterofelves 05-28-2013 04:49 PM

Oh. She was asking his opinion on where he wanted to talk? "Um, I guess out here is good." he nervously replied.

Alrighty then.

Closing the door behind her, she moved to one of the chairs around the mahogany table and sat down, crossing one leg over the other. Oh yes, do ignore that fluffy paw appearing and disappearing from under the door. "Alright." she smiled, settling herself in.

"Vot vere your questions?"

Okay. "I was wondering if I am supposed to use the charts you presented for the assignment or if we were supposed to find an alternative. And also, since the assignment requires so much dueling, do you have any spell suggestions? And is Incarcerus legal for dueling?", he rattled off.

She couldn't help but widen her smile a little, seeing as how eager was about the assignment. Or perhaps not for the assignment itself, but to understand it a bit better. "Yes, I vould like for you to use the charts given. If you end up losing them however, I haff extras that you can pick up. Though, do try not to lose them." Medea chuckled softly and winked at the young Ravenclaw. She had extras, though she didn't have many.

"The assignment doesn't call for so much dueling as it does actually practicing the spells. Dueling is an option though, if you prefer, and incarcerous is allowed, yes. Though, I vould suggest practicing your basic spellvork, such as the disarming and shield charms, and stances before jumping into a duel vith someone. And even then, I vouldn't go vith any fancy spellvork, but vould... try and become comfortable vith it, I should say? Find your rhythm and footvork first, before experimenting vith different approaches."

He was still a youngster after all. There was so much to learn.

Wow. "Okay. Thank you so very much!", he replied gratefully. He picked up his things and headed for the dueling hall.

Mission accepted, obviously. If Alice could take out Bellaire with just her jaw, she was sure handling a couple of the Defense professor's felines wouldn't be an issue. She'd levitated Aireyhead's vacuum down to the first floor, and once she reached her destination, it was carefully set down outside of Romanos' office. And then she knocked. First once, twice. Then thrice. A couple of more times, and she stepped back, waiting for the woman to come out and let her in. Also, did she have to think of an explanation for why she was taking a vacuum into the office?

She would work on that while she waited. Winging it seemed to work just fine.

Lowering the charcoal piece she held, Medea glanced over to her office door at the first few knocks, raising an eyebrow as they continued, having been used to only two or three at a time. Grabbing the small cloth next to her, she wiped her hands before opening the door, gaze landing on the Gryffindor quidditch captain. "Oh, hello Miss Fischer. Did you need help vith something?" she asked, eyeing the vacuum warily.

Excuses. Okay! She had one now.

"Hi, prof. You know how some of our Astronomy homework was cleaning?" 'Course she did, Romanos did talk to Airey loads, didn't she? "Well, I was.. um, a bad student and didn't actually clean anything, so Professor Flamsteed got cross and is making me vacuum all the other professors' offices as punishment." Was that believable? Alice considered it for a moment, and then decided that it was. "So I was wondering if I could start with yours. I'll be extra careful, promise, and it'll look real spiffy afterwards."

Spiffy. Yeah. The professor got a couple of serious nods and earnest looks while she waited for a response.

Yeees, she was aware of that particular Astronomy homework, though she also knew it had been due awhile ago. And...oh? Eyebrows raised at the confession, though it didn't make her open her door any wider for Alice to go through. In fact, she may have leaned against the door frame and closed it a bit more behind her. Her cats didn't like loud noises. "I don't know, Miss Fischer..." she trailed off, biting the inside of her lip. "You haff my permission to skip my office if you'd like. I von't tell Professor Flamsteed."

What a silly assignment anyways.

But.. but.. "Professor Flamsteed will know if I don't, though. He has eyes all around the school. And I really don't want to get in more trouble than I'm already in, professor." Alice gave the defense lady her best innocent looks and pleading eyes. "Please? I'll be really quick. Really. You won't even know I was in there." Really, she wouldn't. The cats wouldn't hiss too loudly, she hoped. So there was nothing to worry about.

Pleaaase, professor? More pleading eyes for her.

Medea smiled some, more in defeat than anything as Alice's concerns were reason enough to let her do her job. She, as well, didn't want the Gryffindor to be in more trouble. "I suppose." The thought still weighed in the professor's mind for a moment until she shifted out of the way, opening the door wider to allow Alice in. "Come on in. Oh, though...a vord of caution. My cats do not like loud noises."

Expect wild and hissy animals.

Maybe it was because she'd never had a need to speak to the Professor before but Lex didn't notice just how comfy this little waiting area was. Huh. How curious. You think she would have at least noticed this place in passing by but noooope. She plopped down in one of the the comfy chairs and watched her kneazle get nice and comfy on her lap. Even he could appreciate this place.

She pulled out a chocolate frog and started on it while she waited. Oh hold on!...real smart Lex, sit before knocking the door.

Ehhhhh...

"Hey bud, take care of that for me, will you?" Alexa dismissed the look the kneazle gave her and shoved him off her lap. "Great, just scratch at the door for a bit." She watched the reluctant feline walk to the door and scratch at it several times, she beamed at him but he ignored that, crawling back into her lap and curling up again. Noooooow she would wait.

Quite frankly, she thought it was Alfonso scratching on things again, though after finding him asleep on his favorite chair, Medea frowned and headed to her office door. Erm. She did hear something, right? Hesitant, she opened the door a little and peaked out from behind it, gaze landing on the young Gryffindor. Oh! Okay. "Miss Cambridge." she greeted with some surprise, opening the door wider for a proper greeting. "Is everything alright?"

Lex was about to shove Felix off her lap to go scratch the door again when the it swung open and a somewhat surprized(?) professor appeared. She beamed up at her. "Hello Professor!!" Was everything alright? YUUUUUP! How could they not be now that she'd found that room?!?!?

Brilliance, that's what it was. Oh but to answer her question. "Everything's wonderful! I actually stopped by because I had a few questions to ask and you're the only one that can answer them." Her being the DADA Professor and all, it was only legit that she be the one asked. It would be rather disappointing if she couldn't answer and Lex's stupidity curiosity would get the better of her regardless so the best she could do was ask.

"Are you busy right now?" Shehe could always go gawk at that room again while she waited.

...

With a greeting such as that, Medea couldn't help but automatically smile. A perky student would naturally set off those inner professor alarms but, goodness, she brought her cat and it was ADORABLE and Medea was distracted. Certainly Alexa's questions weren't about felines though. She'd rather be known as the vampire lady, not the cat lady. "Of coouuuurse! I'm not busy at all. Vould you like to come in?"

Or...sit out here...?

Minerva was on a mission.. Mission was an understatement. She had to see Professor Romanos and only Professor Romanos would do. Yes.. yes.. it was very very important to see her and the sooner the better.

Min bounced towards the door laughing to herself. She was in the best mood and really wasn't sure why. She had recently been scared to death, threatened detention by the healer, accused of fake id's, suggested to be expelled, and then finally actually getting detention. No the seventeen year old should be very upset over all of this. The usual goody goody was not use to any of those words being placed close to her, so why was she so excited at the moment.

Even giggling she knocked on the door. Hoping that the professor was in. This couldn't wait.. not in her mind at least it had to be discussed, plans were needed.. many many plans.

One would think closer to the holidays, the students would want to get away from the professors. She kept half expecting there to be an emergency every time someone knocked on her door. Either that or a counter attack from Airey. Which...now was a thought running through her mind. Taking a step back from her door, she pulled out her wand and tapped the doorknob, letting it open by itself while she slowly peaked out from behind it.

"Oh! Miss Wheatborn!" she smiled with a sigh of relief, coming into full view. "Hello."

"Oh either works for me so long as I get to talk to you because I have an epic idea and I don't think most people would approve but if you approve it'd be good because you're the expert on this stuff in the first place and you kinda have the final word plus the other thing actually legit calls for your final word so you see it doesn't matter where we are as long as we talk!!!" She BEAMed, finally pausing to catch her breath after that long bit of rambling just now. That was a lot to get out when she thought about it. Hopefully the Professor heard it all.

She could repeat.

"Although...you have cats don't you? I think Felix will be happier out here--you can sit in the other comfy seat and we can talk!!" There was always that option and in fact it was kinda decided on so she got even more comfy and went on to a VERY careful question to start. "So first of all...what are the sculptures in that room made of? You know the creature sculptures?"

The REALLY cool looking ones that had nice teeth.

Minerva was rocking.. back and forth ... back and forth on her feet. Toes to heels.. toes to heel when suddenly the door opened, but where was Professor Romanos.. Oh wait there she was "Are you playing hide n seek professor?" Minerva wasn't sure why she even asked that but she laughed at her own little comment. Stopping mid laugh she straightened up and looked a bit shocked, what had come over her to be that vocal...

Shaking her head her eagerness jumping forward. "Professor I was hoping for a moment of your time. I have some very important thoughts and well a favor to ask of you." Favor was probably not the best word that she wanted, but at the moment it was all her brain would think of. A huge smile across her face she was gitty for some reason just thinking about it.

Not one to ever cross any of her professor, Minerva wondered if her own thoughts were starting to make her jumpy or if she was just ready to be a little daring after so many terms of being so good.

Medea somehow hung on to every word the young Gryffindor said. Somehow. She got the general idea that whatever this idea was happaned to be in her field so, the professor nodded. "Alright." At least the topic would be one she wouldn't have to stumble through?

Oh yes, indeed true about the cats. Closing the door behind her, she took her seat on the other comfortable chair, hands clasped together upon her knees. Oh, and there was the first questions...Oh. She had an idea about her sculptures?

"Umm, metal. A variety of metal, actually. Why?" WHAT WERE HER PLANS?

Shaking her head her eagerness jumping forward. "Professor I was hoping for a moment of your time. I have some very important thoughts and well a favor to ask of you." Favor was probably not the best word that she wanted, but at the moment it was all her brain would think of. A huge smile across her face she was gitty for some reason just thinking about it.

Not one to ever cross any of her professor, Minerva wondered if her own thoughts were starting to make her jumpy or if she was just ready to be a little daring after so many terms of being so good.

Was she...

"Oh, no. No, I...no." she chuckled along somewhat. Ahem.

Leaving it at that, since she honestly didn't want to explain in case word got to Airey, her eyebrows raised at Minerva's reasoning in being here. Important thoughts and a favor. She was either going to regret this or be pleasantly surprised. "Alright." Medea nodded slowly, grin appearing on her face. "Vould you like to come inside or stay out here?"

It was good to know she had the Professor's attention, it was needed for this, you know? Felix lifted his head only long enough to see the Professor take the next seat to them before he got nicely curled up again and went to sleep. This conversation wasn't of much interest to him, they hardly ever were.

Metal?

...

Whoops...she should really mention this to Aidan sometime--not that it changed anything because she was still having that idea and still figured it could work. If anything, this just added to the epic-ness of it all. SHE WOULD NOT BE DETERRED BY METAL! "I see...all kinds too...interesting..." Lex mused. VERY interesting. "I was just curious. At first we thought they might be made of wax but then we guessed other things because you know, it's important to know just how much damage the teeth on that werewolf can cause and that would be somewhat dependent on the material they're made of." There was a brief nod, just making sure the Professor was keeping up.

"I was also wondering...what would happen if you animated one of those sculptures?" Not like she planned to, what? Noooope. What gave anyone that accurate idea?? Pffft.

well she was somewhat laughing at Min's comment that was a plus, right.. right. Minerva gave her an extra smile, but she bit her lip trying to hold back the excitement that was trying to burst out.

Why was she so excited, this was dangerous... very dangerous, she didn't want to land herself another detention, but it wasn't against Lafay even though it should no. .no her thoughts, ideas, plans even had nothing to do with her, so this should be alright.

Thinking for a second she eyed around the corridor, "Your office professor, I don't really want anyone to over hear what I need to say." She wasn't sure if she was freaking the professor out or not, but she had to be very careful what she said in a corridor...

Alexa's interest in the fact that her sculptures were made of metal was making her somewhat suspicious, and now that she brought up the werewolf had her eyebrows shooting up faster than a rocket. Really, just what was the Gryffindor's plan here? And how could talking about animating the sculptures when she knew this could very well end badly make her so excited?

"That vould depend on the spell you use, Miss Cambridge." she started, shifting on her seat to cross one leg over the other. "Vot I use in general causes them to move much like their design. For example..." She smiled and pointed to the little snitch sitting on it's perch by the door. It tilted it's head and hopped sideways, seemingly trying to get a better look at them. "Not particularly dangerous, though it can be."

Again though... Why?

Oh, it certainly was important than. "Of course. Come on in." Medea opened the door wider and moved out of the way to let the Minerva inside, nudging Erma out of the way with her boot.

Ohai rising eyebrows that belong to the Professor, good to know we've sparked more interest! Lex disregarded the sudden look of surprize because she wasn't done finding out everything she wanted to know. It was interesting that the Professor would react that way at the mention of the werewolf. It wasn't that bad. Nothing happened when she shoved her hand down it's metal throat...yet.

Lex payed extra close attention to the spell being cast and the effect it had.

...

Uh-huh....

Eyes on the Professor again, this time soaked in curiosity and holding more than a tinged of mischief and excitement. "Sooooooooooooooooooooo..." Pause for dramatic effect and there was some kneazle stroking going on. "If you were to use that spell--or hey, a crazy idea, you teach me that spell and I happened to cast it on say...you know, let's say I cast it on the Kappa in the room, it'd start acting just like a Kappa would were it real???"

And the werewolf would act like a werewolf toooooooo????????

She was starting to get the general idea of where this conversation was going, if she wasn't mistaken. Taking a deep breath, Medea sat up a little straighter, eyeing her little mechanical bird for a moment longer before slowly nodding her head, turning her gaze back to Alexa and her very adorable cat. The smile had yet to disappear despite the turn in the conversation. "In general, yes. It's movements at least, considering the vay it is shaped."

And now Lex was positively beaming. It was just as she''d thought and in fact she already had her eyes on a few of the sculptures but she'd keep that to herself for now.

"Cool!!" GRIN. "Er...do you think you'd let me give that a try?? It'd be really epic and you can watch if you wanna that way I don't end up dying or something!!" That would have been a problem...she didn't think her father would have appreciated her being dead and she didn't think she'd like it much either. There was hardly anything one could do when they were dead.

Without waiting on a response she went right into pleading. "Pleeeeease? I'd be super careful! I might be questionable at other subjects but I'm good at this one and wouldn't end up seriously hurt!"

Besides, could no one else see how epic animating those things and watching them work would be??? No? Just her???

And there it was...

Her smile widened as her gaze turned downwards to her fiddling fingers momentarily, listening to Alexa try and talk her into teaching her the spell. She might've been more willing if the girl hadn't asked about the werewolf and the damage it could cause first. "Charms and transfiguration you mean?" She asked, glancing back up to the third year. "The spells used to animate the sculptures. They are not studied in defense against the dark arts."

Sooo, if she wanted to think about that first.

"Vhy, may I ask, are you interested in learning how to animate one?"

A smile? Did that mean it was a yes?? Lex got set to start bouncing but first she had to listen to the woman's response.

"I know." She informed her with a few enthusiastic nods. "The real purpose of asking isn't to learn those spell but rather to know how plausible the idea is. Like is it something that can work and what the results might look like. It falls into DADA because of the creatures involved that have a possibility of taking on their life like characteristics."

See? She didn't want to learn a spell, she wanted to play with the werewolf see the creatures in action. It was clear the Professor wouldn't take a real werewolf to class but that didn't mean she didn't want to see one in action. This is what happened when she was allowed to read a DADA related textbook. First was the Kappa then Vampires then the werewolves and she'd probably be interested in something else next week. THIS IS WHY SHE SHOULDN'T READ!!!

Oh but she supposed she would answer her question. "Well..." She began slowly, stroking the sleeping kneazle a few times. "can you imagine just how epic it would be to see something like--let's say the werewolf running around in action, learning spells to use against it and such without actually being up against a real werewolf??? Same goes for everything else. It'd be so...so COOOOOL." Nodnodnodnod.

Mmhmmm.

Well, if that was all the Gryffindor wanted to know, than that could be easily worked out. "I can imagine." she nodded, smile not at all faultering. She did create those sculptures partly to study the creature's actions, even if they weren't exactly like the creature they portrayed. Plus they were just fun to work with.

"I'll tell you vot, Miss Cambridge. If you'd like to use one of the sculptures for learning and spell vork purposes, than you may do so. Under my supervision." She wouldn't be teaching how to animate them however and she'd knooooow if the third year went to talk to Bellaire or Ivy about it. "Just as long as you don't blow them up."

Please and thank you.

Wait, was that a yes??? An official go ahead, you can play with Mr. Werewolf??

YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

Of course she heard the part about her needing to supervise. She was listening to the whole thing, that's how she heard the yes in the first place. "You have my word, I won't cast a single explosive spell on them!" Nodnodnod. SHE GOT TO PLAY WITH THE SCULPTURES!!! "And all I have to do is find a way to animate them or will you be doing that for me?" Either worked for her. She could ask another Professor...or...read. Cringe.

"Also, about the next thing I came about. Can I use the cool dummy in the dueling arena? The one that shoots spells back at you?????"

PLEEEEASE???

Professor Romanos's Office was one Jory had never visited either. Ah well. He was visiting now. He was mighty impressed by the furniture and everything else just outside of the office. But what caught his attention was the bird like creature sitting on its perch. The thing was staring at him intently.

"Hallo, hallo,'' the badger said. It made a little chirpy sound. Jory grinned. He liked this thing. He'd stop by it on his way out again. He raised a hand \nd knocked on the Professor's door.

Kace managed to find the DADA's office on the first floor. OH thank god! He was running and didn't wanna leave Tobias all alone with the dementors. He pounded on the door and hoped the professor heard his knocking. He didn't have TOO much time.

He kept knocking and then he stopped waiting for an answer. Once he didn't get his answer in time he ran off and went to get another professor.

HE WAS GETTING ATTENTION???

HALLO HALLO HUMAN!! Hop hop hop! Couldn't flyyyy but hop hop hop!

Thank whoever invented knocking on someone's door before entering right? Merlin knew, no student wanted to see their professor dancing with their cat. Even though...they probably already had at a certain campout a few months back. Letting Barnabus go back to sleep on the couch, she lowered the volume on the music and skipped over to open her door.

"Hellooooo Mister Stonewall!" What a surpriiiiiiise!

The little bird amused Jory. Apparently it could not fly so it hop, hop, hopped! His attention however, was drawn towards the Professor's door as it opened. "Good day, Professor!'' Right. So how was he going to say this? These sentimental stuff he was no good at.

"I've got something for you,'' the badger added, diving into his pocket and retrieving a small bag which contained a doll doing yoga. "It's just a thank you gift,'' he went on. "For being a great teacher.'' He was going to miss her and her classes. Admittedly, he had not been fond of the yoga at first but Jory had grown to like it.

SOMETHING FOR HER?? The professor GASPED, hand over her heart, and all around surprised. First the visit, now a gift! "Oh, THANK yooouuuuuu! You shouldn't haff!" He really shouldn't have. It was going to make her all teary eyed and STUFF because seventh years were graduating SO SOON. If she was even able to produce tears. Taking the doll out of the bag, the 'awwwwwwwwww' that came from the professor lasted as long as she was able to exhale without taking another breath.

"MISTER STONEWALL!" The Hufflepuff was suddenly enveloped in a HAPPY!CLINGY hug. "I LOOOOOVE IT! Thank yoouuu! OH, thank YOU for being such an excellent student and all around AMAZING person!"

SHE WAS NEVER LETTING GO OF THIS HUG!

She loved it! Awesome! Jory was pleased. And all of a sudden he was enveloped in a warm hug. Admittedly, he was surprised but couldn't help feeling more pleased. It was nice to know he would be missed.

"Thanks, Professor!''
Jory said, returning the hug. "Keep up the wonderful job and the amazing lessons.'' Getting all the kids ready to take on the real world. He sniffed. No. No. He was not an emotional person. Probably just something in his eyes.
