Sarah di dnot thik that Erik guy should be seen. He made Sarah feel uneasy.

Sarah was all for the swimming pool and ice rink.Hogwarts shold so have an amusement park. She liked roller coasters and Hogwarts needed one. Sarah liked adrenaline rushes and all. Lat year wa cool especially when the stair cases went crazy...

Sarah knew Hogwart's history by heart. She raised her hand. "There was an epic battle for Hogwarts. It was going badly for the Hogwarts and then Harry Potter was thought dead... and it then finally Hogwarts won against Voldemort and he got killed. Even the awesome house elves got involved. I think that was the most epic part."

What they all said? Yeah. But West figured why not try a different approach. They all knew it was the Battle of Hogwarts and that Voldemort was defeated. He stuck his hand up. "The Second Wizarding War ended, with lots of death."

It was kinda weird that a war ended at a school right?

Edita stomped lightly on Ezra as congratulations on a semi-job well done. Although she was pretty sure his answer was incorrect the Professor deemed it of interest. This spoke volumes about her Professor and maybe Carver, but Ed was willing to overlook this in the name of camaraderie. Scabior asked another question and Edita's brows knotted together. How was she supposed to know? That was almost one hundred years ago!

The answers coming out her fellow classmates startled her and she let out a laugh, rubbing her foot on the top of Carver's hip this time. "Voldermot Who?" she whispered-yelled at him. "Is that a real name?"

May 2nd 1998? Alyssa had remembered that date, so she raised her hand despite the fact that the others had already given the answer.

"Professor like the others have said that date was the day the Battle of Hogwarts ended. It also was the day that Fred Weasley, Professor Remus Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks and Professor Severus Snape died along with a bunch of Death Eaters."

Alyssa didn't think she needed to name who those were.

"and oh yeah, the day Harry used his ownership of the Elder Wand to defeat Voldemort...even though he wasn't holding it at the time. In fact, that was the day that all 3 Deathly Hallows were used." Alyssa added.

Did that cover almost everything?

Jory raised his hand. "The Battle of Hogwarts ended on that day,'' he said. He knew that date was familiar as he had read it numerous times not to mention having heard narrations of it.

Taking a cue from his classmates, he stretched out his left arm and made a sweeping motion in front of him, with it. Like a sword. Then he pretended to stab Edita’s foot with his non-existent sword, as answer to her question. ”Lots of people died, too.” Typically, that’s what happened in battles. ”Like Voldemort.” Whoever that was. It sounded vaguely familiar, though. ”And people cried, but they were also happy.” Happy crying.

He shot a side-long glance at November, and wondered if she did that.

Something about the date rang familiar inside November - the way the name of someone you once met but didn't really hit it off with sometimes did. It was something she knew, but didn't know. There was a difference.

Caught between her teeth, she worried her lower lip. Darnit! Why couldn't she remember?

It didn't matter, though; there were people calling out all sorts of answers about the end of some war. Blah blah blah. War was terrifically boring. Lots of angry people being violent and angry. Daddy liked to talk about wars like that sometimes, when her parents' friends came over. The name Voldemort sounded familiar, again in that terribly distant way, and she wrinkled her nose. She looked over at Eddie, who'd directed her question to Carver, and shrugged either way.

"Awfully funny name, that. I'd change my name if it was mine, I'd think."

Everyone was babbling about stuff. Deathly Hallows, Elder wand, a weasel, a Lupine, a Nymphawhatsitwho, Severing Snap or something or other. She filled up her cheeks and released a puff of air.

"Carver's answer sounds about right," she mumbled, wondering where exactly these people were pulling all these answer.

Not a place to hide either...interesting....

Lex continued looking around the room, curiously waiting for something to happen. This place had to have something about it or they wouldn't be here in the first place. Right? Right. Any minute now, something epic would happen.

The thing is, nothing did...he just asked a question that she was [i]positive she didn't know the answer too.

This meant she'd be going off of what others said. Either that or read but well...everyone knew the girl didn't read! It just didn't happen okay??? "Well Professor...I uh...I agree with Cassia!" Because Cassia was smart so she obviously had the answer. "Everything that she says about this room is true." Nod nod nod.

Wait...... why she getting eyed? She hadn't done anything yet.

But anyway, the next question was pretty much a duh. Though it did bring up lots of interesting questions, ones she wasn't going to voice. Not that she was scared of the answer, no. Okay, it was exactly that. "Voldemort was defeated for the last time in here." Please say they removed the body and buried it far away from here.....?

Dylan looked at all his classmates...and smirked. Well, yes. He supposed that did happen...but there was more, wasn't there? The Slytherin wasn't a fan of Hogwarts, A History...but everyone always talked about the day Voldemort had been taken down.

"That war happened...and many parts of the school were destroyed..." He thought about it some more...picking his own brain for information. "The Room of Requirement had been set on fire....Fiendfyre...."

Jake frowned slightly, looking around the room as everyone answered. Jake had read plenty of books and had plenty of lessons on the last wizarding war. His dad was a wizard, Durmstrang had taught it... it had never dawned on Jake, though, that the Great Hall was the very place that the war had ended.

"It's when Harry Potter defeated Voldemort. Basically saved the whole world." He was sort of talking to himself. It was weird to think about. How many times a day did he sit at the Gryffindor table, where Harry Potter himself had sat, in the room where the world had been saved?

...He was being dramatic. This is why he shouldn't be allowed to go to classes. His brain was really good at over-thinking unnecessary things.

So they were on a first name basis now? *BEAM*

Even still, ...he didn't have time for trick questions? Hmph. he sure had time to send them on a wild goose chase around the castle before having them end up here for class. Sierra still thought a simple common room announcement would have done the trick. So, yeah, right, Scabbers! We're not buying that!

She raised her hand. "That was the end of the Second Wizarding War," she said, much like everybody else. "So I'm guessing this room had some significance then? Like they hid certain items in here, or...maybe they brought in the injured?" She didn't know.

Ella agreed with what everyone was saying about the war, and death, and those who had fought and such. She didn't want to repeat any answers so she merely nodded her head in agreement. Yup, what they said. Kind of a somber subject, yeah? Couldn't they talk about...ice cream?

Nuria was pleased to be able to get out and stretch her wings and get away from all the little owls for a bit. It was nice. It was a fairly long journey too, all the way from Diagon to this giant castle place, but that was perfectly fine with her. She was more than capable of making the journey.

Now, she'd reached her destination and she just had to find the girl person she was bringing this too. That didn't take long either since she was on the ground floor. Ignoring the other girl and boy persons that were also present, Nuria swooped over to a redheaded one and set the package and letter she had down at the girl person's feet.

Then, without a moment's hesitation or a sound, she turned and flew away, heading back for home.

First years were never too good at whispering, no matter how much they believed that they excelled at it. Scabior held out his hand and silently summoned a copy of 'A History of Magic'. Once found its way into his hand, he walked right over and dropped the book directly in front of her. It almost landed on Ezra too. Oops? "The answer to your question is in there."

"Such a creative answer." Dash noted dryly.

Dylan had given a sound answer, but Scabior couldn't get past the first two words. "That war." He repeated, shaking his head. "It's nice to know Mister Montmorency that by your six year here you've learned about that war. Maybe in two years time you'll actually know the name." He would say that it would be a shame to see him stay behind....but it wouldn't be if he called it 'that war' again.

Ah. "No. But it has a significance now."

Everyone who had said something about the battle of Hogwarts happening was correct obviously.

"After the Battle of Hogwarts the great hall was pretty much ruined. As was this room. Upon the rebuilding process it was decided that they would put a little security measure within it this very room, in case of the possibility of another battle or intrusion of some sort." Since it was close to the great hall and that was usually the most populated area.

With that said, Scabior drew his wand, turned around and pointed to the empty canvas in a portrait frame, at the back wall. Sure there were portraits all around the room, but this one was the only one with no person or scenery painted inside. Just a blank canvas.

"That portrait-that one there is the security measure, and it works almost like your common rooms. Not exactly. But almost. Ten points to the first person who can guess the correct way of opening it." It mimicked something exactly from another part of the wizarding world.

And why was there an owl in his class?"Skylar this is not Care of Magical Creatures. You do not receive mail in my class." If the girl even THOUGHT about opening it...

Ella stroked her imaginary beard and eyed the portrait. Hmmmm. How would one open this? Well if it was at all like the other secret passages than, "Dissendium, Professor?"

Maybe?

Ohh, ten points?! Now he was talking! He'd be even louder and clearer if it was fifty points on the line, but Sierra would make do with ten.

She raised her hand. "Maybe it's something like what they have at Number 12 Grimmauld Place," she said. Scabior was a History professor. He'd know which building that was. "It was protected by a Fidelius Charm. The charm works by implanting secret information into the soul of a Secret Keeper. The charm makes a place invisible and unplottable. At that point, the only way in is for the Secret Keeper to assist you."

Dylan looked at Professor Scabior a bit sheepishly. Yea, he knew what the name of the war was...but had figured since everyone had already supplied that information, that he wouldn't need to be a broken record. Ahem. "Of course, sir. I do apologize."

Moving on...

He listened raptly as the lesson continued on. Ella and Sierra had given some rather interesting answers...Sierra, more so...Dylan simply eyed the Professor holding up his wand and then looked to the blank canvas. Hmmmmmm.

Hand-raising. "Perhaps instead of a spoken password...you need to draw certain things...Shapes or particular objects....for it to be activated...? And maybe with the different things you draw...they'd have different outcomes and effects..." It sounded pretty smart to him, anyway. If that wasn't what was going on here...then he'd like to invent something similar.

Alexa grinned up at the Professor when he told her her answer was creative. No she didn't understand sarcasm or anything like it. Problem? No? Okay! As far as she knew he was telling her that she'd been quite clever just now! Woot!

Her eyes fell on the blank portrait when it was made known. How had she missed it before? This was just like the man hiding somewhere in this room, which meant she wouldn't see him either until he was ready to be seen.

No use worry about it then.

She raised her hand to answer the question. "The way I see it. The portrait's a really rude one. It ignores everything and everyone until you tell it what it wants to hear. So like I could go up to it but if I don't know the password it would just stay all blank and uninterested but then if someone comes along with the answer there might be a kindly old man who appears in the frame and gives you what you want, whether that's to enter or get the answer to something." But that was just how she saw it.

What on Earth was Grimmauld Place? If Ezra had a dime for every time he heard someone in class sprout out something that sounded nonsensical and probably totally made up, he'd be rich enough to buy that Quidditch store in Diagon Alley.

Speaking of which. "Maybe it works like Diagon Alley." He moved a little bit away from Edita, because he was embarrassed on her behalf, though thankful because it'd been her instead of him. It made him feel bad, though, because maybe that meant he was a terrible friend.

He scooted closer to her again. "Y'know how you've got to tap your wand in just the right spot of that wall behind the Leaky to get in? Well, maybe you've got to the same with the canvas, too. Just poke it in the right place with your wand, and taa-daa!"

Ezra Carver was an expert at poking thing with his wand, really, considering it was what he mostly did with his. No one had ever warned him that spell-casting would be so difficult.

Almost like their common rooms? Their common rooms were all different though. West thought about it. Slytherin had a wall and a password, Gryffindor a portrait and a password, Ravenclaw had a doorknocker that spouted riddles, and Hufflepuff had some.... barrels. And you had to tap them in the right order or something right? West was eyeing the portrait, noting it was empty, thinking about what he knew about empty portraits. Its occupant was probably somewhere else then? There was, therefore, nobody to hear a spoken password. So did that mean there was a spell on the frame instead of the occupant accepting a word or phrase that would have it open? Maybe it also depended what was behind it? Was it another room or was it maybe some kind of passageway? And also passwords could be changed, it probably wasn't a password because then it wouldn't be the same.

What other things did he know about for opening stuff? Parseltongue or some other language? Spells? He looked up as Ella and Sierra suggested a couple that had crossed his mind. Finally he had a thought that could maybe work. He stuck his hand up.

"What about tapping your wand in a pattern against the frame? Like the Hufflepuff Common Room and the entrance way between the Muggle world and the Leaky Cauldron?" That could work?

'Hmmm...what secret way is there for opening what is hidden behind this portrait. The Professor said that it worked almost like the entrance way to our common rooms.' Alyssa thought to herself. She listened as the other students gave their answers before she raised her own hand.

"Professor we see it as a blank portrait but maybe it isn't blank after all. We just can't see what is painted on it...like it is painted with invisible paint. So maybe it works like Tom Riddle's diary. You can't see what is written on it until you start writing on it and asking it questions." Alyssa paused hoping that she was making sense.

"So in this case, in order to get the portrait to reveal its secret opening, one needs to write a question on it, like say ask it how one can open it and the answer will be revealed." Alyssa hoped she made sense.

She guessed that hers wasn't the right answer but it was worth a try.

Security? Jake looked around again, his eyes falling on the portrait Scabior was talking about now. It opened like common rooms? Well, Jake had no idea how the other common rooms worked. And there was nothing in the frame to accept a password like the Fat Lady. So...?

Eh. He'd just go for it. "Is there just a passage in the back? Like, you pull on the frame and it opens to a tunnel or something." Sure, that would be extremely easy. But maybe it was so extremely easy that nobody would ever think of it unless they were desperate for an escape. ... It made sense in Jake's head. He really wasn't an idiot.

Like the common rooms, but not exactly. Could Professor Scabior BE any more cryptic? The only thing Sky could think of was tapping, like the Hufflepuff common room. "Tapping your wand on it in a certain pattern." Well, at least she hadn't suggested writing on it. That was a dumb guess. Who goes around writing on portraits? Besides, the professor had said 'like the common rooms'.

Jory raised his hand. "Perhaps it needs a contribution,'' he said. "I once read that Albus Dumbledore gave a tribute of blood to an entrance to a cave, I believe it was, so he could enter. Something like that could work?''
