Laura looked at the Professor and smiled, she wasn't sure what she could remember from that lesson. "Professor well there is Iron Man, doesn't he use a shield or something, I'm not really sure though." Laura couldn't remember what his special power was.

Anna Banana 10-25-2012 06:38 PM

No, Sierra really didn't remember any of the superheroes they'd discussed in the last lesson. She hadn't even known them in the first place, really. She'd just sat there and followed along the best she could. That was the bad part about being a pureblood in a Muggle Studies class. You came unprepared, very unprepared, most of the time.

...but not this time. Sierra had actually gone to the library and read up a bit on what the lesson was about. The professor had suggested that the last time they'd had class. When the first question was asked, Sierra raised her hand along with the others. She'd suddenly remembered a superhero and yes, she had a good reason why. Thank you, DADA. "I remember Spiderman," she said. "We took a potion and cast a spell in DADA that made us climb the wall like Spiderman."

Expecto-Penguin 10-25-2012 07:47 PM

Belle saw the video and was amazed by it all. She actually like the Villians of the comic books. They were just as important as the hero. They had backgrounds that made them that way. Belle heard the professor's question of what hero they studied last time and what their powers remember. Belle heard Spiderman, Batman, Falcon, the Hulk, Iron Man. Belle remembered she dressed up as Iron Man last class XD.

Belle raised her hand and said, "Professor i remember we learned about the hero Thor. He is the God of Thunder and heir to the throne to Asgard."

Lezleighd 10-25-2012 08:17 PM

Gemma shook her head at each of the students' answers and was even impressed by the SLYTHERIN (=0]) Prefect's answer. She beamed at the young girl, "Sierra, great job at connecting this to DADA. Two points for Slytherin!" yes she loved when students tried to connect MS with something else they had learned.

She continued on, "Great list of superheroes from last time!" she said raising her hands in the air excitedly. "Well, you can't have a superhero without an arch nemesis for them fight against. It's just like in literature where you must have a protagonist and an antagonist in a story..." yes she was relating this lesson with one of her lessons from last term and she hoped some of the students caught the vocabulary and the connection.

The professor walked a little bit closer to one of the posters of the villains and glanced at the evil grin of the Joker, "Just like in fairy tales, our superhero stories also have a villain that they must fight. In some of the stories these villains have superpowers that they use for evil...some have lots of money that they use to corrupt the world and those around them...and some are just plain evil..." she let the last word slither off her tongue with distaste.

"How bout everyone share a villain from your favorite movie or story, fictional or nonfictional....this doesn't have to be a superhero villain...just any villain in general from the Muggle or Wizarding world..." she asked the question and then answered her own question, "One of my most favorite villains is Ursula from Disney's the Little Mermaid." she shared her choice and then glanced out at the students to encourage their answers.

OOC: Okey dokey...it's your turn....remember to raise your hand before you answer and not to repeat others' answers. We'll be back later tonite to continue the lesson. If you need to catch up, remember to put that somewhere in your title. Thanks everyone!

Wow, she really likes to go all out! Eliza admired the enthusiasm. Some witches and wizards weren't interested in muggle studies, so this was definitely a good way to get students involved. She put on her fox mask now, seeing that the professor was in costume and all.

She raised her hand and said, "There's Wonder Woman, Professor. She has an invisible jet and a lasso and is really strong and fast." How cool is that though, invisible plane? At least until you can apparate. She put her hand down and adjusted the mask on her face. It was itching her nose a bit, but she'd survive.

Steelsheen 10-25-2012 08:39 PM

Errrr wha?.... But there are heroes and villains who doesnt wear masks. Reluctantly Vickers dug into the artsy basket and started to draw a face, poke holes where eyes should be, draw a line for the nose and poked a larger hole for the mouth. He was trying to make it look like Lex Luthor, but as he slipped it on it looked more like Dr. Doom's mask.

All he needs to do is to pull his robe's hood up and the costume is complete. That or look like a Deatheater....

Now as for the hero question. Up goes the hand "Professor there is Captain Marvel, he has similar powers to Superman in that he can fly and has super strength and invulnerability and has the power to call down magical lightning"

And then there was the villain part. Well the benefit of being somewhat force to make a mask for it, but which one now.... Up goes the hand again "Professor there's Lex Luthor, who is the arch nemesis of Superman. He doesnt have any powers like the Man of Steel but he is incredibly cunning and tenacious"

MudInMyBlood 10-25-2012 08:46 PM

Catching Up! :D

Muggle Studies...she still didn't know why she was even here because this is the one class that her parents would understand about if she didn't attend. She noticed all the muggle super heroes posters on the wall. They were still on this? Sigh. She pretty much exhausted all of her knowledge on the subject during the first lesson. She plopped down on a green bean bag chair and eyed the basket beside it. Masks! Did the professor really want her to do this? Ughh! Was it too late to leave? She sucked it up and took the mask out of the basket and colored the whole thing green... Slytherin green. There you go... that was all she was going to do.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great she was asking if they remembered any of the super heroes that they had talked about before. Surely she could remember at least one of them. Most of the other students had already said the main ones. There's gotta be another one. She just had to think. Oh yes, of course... "There's Aquaman and he was most powerful with things that involved water." she said with a raised hand. That sounded like a horrible explanation but she got her point across.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Her favorite? She didn't know about anything muggle related being her favorite, but she would tell her the first thing that came to her mind. "There's Joker...he fought against Batman." she said while having her hand raised.

TakemetotheBurrow 10-25-2012 09:34 PM

Ella listened to Professor Cerulean, a small smile on her face. When the woman said something about some villains being just plain evil, she couldn't help but think of a certain Professor who she'd dubbed an evil genius. He could definitely be someone's arch nemesis.

As for Ella's favorite villain from a book or movie, it was also Ursula. But seeing as Professor Cerulean had already said that one, she decided to go with her second favorite. "Professor, The Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a villain." And she was quite a crazy one too. "She's always angry and constantly ordering for people's heads to be cut off." Yeah...Ella would never want to live in that kind of kingdom.

Expecto-Penguin 10-25-2012 10:12 PM

Belle was loving the Professor's lecture. She was really into the whole super villain aspect. Belle had a huge smile on her face. Then the professor asked for a super villain from a story fiction or non fictional from a book or a movie. Belle thought back to a Disney Movie she loved....Belle then decided which villain stuck out in her memory.

"Professor...there is a movie called the Great Mouse Detective...the villain was the evil Professor Ratigan. He even denied about being a rat come to think of it. It was my favorite movie when i was little."

DecemberMoon 10-25-2012 10:37 PM

Eliza knew a lot of the references would probably still be from super hero movies, but she had always liked one from a muggle movie, so she decided to talk about that.

She raised her hand and said, "There is a character named Victor from a muggle movie called Underworld. He's an elder vampire and...well I don't want to give it all away, but he is conflicted by what he thinks he has to do and what he actually wants to do...sort of. Anyway he's really powerful and strong and old." She wondered if anyone else had seen those movies as she sat and listened to the other students.

Louisa was still working on the mask of her she-hero of choice when the professor announced the beginning of class. Ugh, her brothers would be happily thrilled in this class, she missed them. Maybe she could take the mask they were making home with her? She'll ask professor Cerulean when class was over.

Superhero. Okay, hand in the air and try not to repeat a name. "There is Rogue from the X-Men movie. A young girl who can absorb the strength of someone by touching them." Louisa wasn't sure if the girl was considered a superhero or not but she DID fight against evil with the other mutants so.

Hmmm. Villains were more interesting to her, not because she liked the dark side or anything but because they usually were more realistic to the superheroes who were too righteous. Like Vashti. Anyways, hand in the air again. "Poison Ivy is one, professor. From the Batman fandom. She used an overdose of plant and animal based toxins on her blood stream which made her touch deadly. She can also control minds, although strong minded people are able to resist." Louisa thought this villain interesting the most because she was so united with nature you'd think she was cool, but noooo she used Mother Earth as a weapon.

To be honest, Vivi still wasn't sure she got this class. Sure, she'd read all the books in the library and had pumped poor Vickers for information, but she was just missing the fascination. Which was a shame, because most subjects did fascinate her.

But she'd try, and maybe the professor would know she was trying and would appreciate it. She gave Vick a confident nod before raising her hand. "Martian... Manhunter who is green and has big pectoral muscles and came from Mars. And sometimes is called by J'onn J'onzz, but I do not believe anyone is fooled. Oh, and also, he's in the Justice League, which I think sounds pretty legit. I'd like to be in a Justice League."

Oh, villain from anywhere? That was hard, because she had stories she loved with villains, and then there was her superhero research, that she really ought to use. Vivi squirmed a bit in her beanbag chair before raising her hand again.

"Erm... Callisto, Professor. She sort of went back and forth from being a villain to being part of the good guys because she was just trying to find a place where she fit and people who accepted her for who she was. Plus her name is from Greek mythology, which is cool." FYI. Vivi could respect a villain who hadn't figured it all out yet, AND who didn't have a superpower that consisted of wearing tight clothes.

The lights going down didn't really bother Emmanuelle, after all, she had never really been afraid of the dark. The booming evil laughter however.... well that made her jump about ten feet in the air. She quickly pulled out her wand and looked around, alarmed, before realizing that it had just been a recording and nothing was about to get her. Her fear had knocked all memory of superheroes out her mind though, so she just sat there listening while other answered the question.

The next question left her a bit baffled as well. Em didn't really have a habit of liking villains in movies or television. Well except one, but he wasn't really a villain anymore. So, she tried to come up with another. Which was harder than it seemed. Most of the ones she kept coming up with were from scary movies, which she didn't think would go over very well. Finally, one did come to mind and she raised her hand to answer. "I like Cruella de Ville from 101 Dalmatians, the live action one."

Minerva was eating her candy when she heard the music. Professor knew how to make an entrance didn't she. Smiling she watched as class started and that was when she realized she ate to much candy and forgot to make her mask. Hurrying she started making her mask wanting it to be awesome. If she was going to be an evil character well then she had to have an awesome mask. She listened as the first question was asked, raising her hand, "Professor, last time I had mentioned the Power rangers and their power really wasn't a power but a skill. They had ninja training so they used that." She then listened to the other answers..

Minerva finished up on her mask, was she suppose to put it on she wasn't to sure. Taking a bit more candy she listened as the professor talked again. She wanted to Roll her eyes when the Slytherin got two extra points, but she forced herself not to.Then the next question about villains came.. hmm could she even think of a villain. She was lucky to know the little she did about super heroes. Raising her hand, "Professor there is the Shredder from Ninja Turtles. He was a very mean villain that was the leader of the foot clan." She put her hand down and listened to everyone else answer.

Oakey couldn't pass up this question. Name a villain? Please he was the most villainy villain of anyone else in this room even more so than he Professor.

adjusting his masksome because it was slightly uncomfertable to wear Oakey spoke up. 'Prfferer, Bnnn ifa vllln fm Bamn." Oakey paused for a moment and listened to himself. The Bane mask seemed like an awesome idea at the time until he just tried speaking through it. Yanking the top piece off and over his head the rest of the mask followed and he set it down beside him. "What I meant to say was. Bane is a Batman Villain that has actually managed to defeat him in combat. " He looked down at the mask beside him now, Oakey just looked like he was wearing a simple Pilot's Jacket now with Cargo pants. His costume didn't mae any sense without the mask. So as soon as as finished answering the question he quickly slipped the mask bak on over his face.

Daydreamer11 10-26-2012 12:11 AM

Alex thought about a good villain. Instead of going with the subject of her mask, Cat Woman, she had another answer in mind. She raised her hand and said, "Professor, I have a villain to share. In the story of Cinderella, the evil stepmother is the villain. The two stepsisters are like the co-villains, because they are all very mean to Cinderella."

Mask still resting on her lap, Kurumi slipped off her shoes so she could cross her legs and sit a little more relaxed like in her beanbag - and just in time it seemed as the lights went off, there was another video montage, and the professor made another grand appearance. All to which Kurumi simply took out her parchment and quill and set it half hazardously on her lap.

Library? Kurumi had been there...but her research had been on other things - creature related and pertaining to the jewels in the hourglasses. Maybe next time she would go check out some superhero book or comic.

And for review...Kurumi waited a moment, listening to what the others ha to say and trying to avoid repeating the same answer she had last time. Only the moment she thought about sharing someone else, they were crossed off her parchment of notes. So...repeat it was once her hand was raised. "There is Sailormars, a famous superhero from Japan, and she has the power to control fire and is the reincarnation of the Princess of Mars."

All said in a small voice because Kurumi felt overtly shy about not being able to venture outside of her box on the subject.

Cue another small eyebrow raise from the Gryffindor as she waved her quill over her parchment and kind-of-sort-of took notes. Really? Still trying to make up to Sierra for mistaking her house by buying her off with points? Well, actually...that WOULD work with Sierra and was Kurumi allowed to have negative thoughts about the Slytherin now that they were kind-of-sort-of friends? If Kurumi had connected the fire reading to Divination she was pretty sure she would not have been rewarded with points...so what was the Muggle Studies professor up to?

Kurumi smelled conspiracy. Yep.

Wait...favorite nonfictional villain? Kurumi sort of found that a subjective option and returned her thoughts to the comics she had managed to sneak peeks at growing up. Okay, so she needed to move away from the magical girl area a little or else her cheeks were going to glow an even deeper shade of pink. So, hand up it was. "Sesshomaru from Inu Yasha. He is a extremely powerful full-blooded demon and his name translates roughly to 'Killing Perfection.'" Although...he sort of had some redeaming qualities in the end. All the villains she had grown up with did really...it was what made their stories so complicated and interesting. It wasn't just black and white.

Awarlesta Black 10-26-2012 02:21 AM

Awar raised her hand, "One of my favorite villians is Harley Quinn" She pointed to the mask on her face. "She started off a sidekick to the Joker in Batman and then joined forces with Poison Ivy."

Super villians! Talk about A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

Kat tried to remember who those super villians in the video were. She knew some because she did go have a sleepover at a Muggle friend's house before attending Hogwarts. They watched different movies there and Kat was fond of some of those movies. Especially all the action movies and the occasional humor that accompanied them as well. Kat raised her hand as she remember one of them. "I remember Captain Hook from the video you showed us, Professor," Kat said with a smile. "He really likes to foil Peter Pan and he wants him to..." Scared of the word, Kat? "...die."

So she had been sitting quietly. Because she has poor knowledge of the muggle world. But she was here for that reason too. Her father urged her to take this subject in order to know about the muggles. And actually knowing about their life is interesting actually.

And so far she had no answer to the questions until this one. A villian? She only knows one muggle story. Liam her nextdoor neighbor had told her about it. The second-year raised her hand and spoke. "There's Captain Hook from Peter Pan." She didn't know much about him but she knew that he was evil!

Peeking it to see if everyone was seated and safe, Gemma took a quick breath in and flicked her wand. Instantly all of the lights in the room went out, leaving the classroom completely dark.

From all around the students came an evil laugh that echoed through the classroom and then disappeared. Then at the front of the room a video started playing on the Screen hanging from the ceiling.

When the video ends, the lights slowly come back up in the classroom and Professor Cerulean is standing at the front of the room. She is dressed as one of her favorite Comic Superhero, the Dark Phoenix. It was hard for her decide between Poison Ivy and Dark Phoenix but the Phoenix won out in the end.

SPOILER!!: Dark Phoenix Costume...sorry it was the best I could find

Standing in a very powerful stance, she smiles at the class and says, "Welcome everyone to our second Muggle Studies class!" she glances around the room and takes note of the different masks and of those not wearing one. "Thank you for coming and to those that followed the first directions on the board." she said the last in a passive aggressive voice trying to get her point across that she didn't appreciate those not willing to participate....it was just for fun and she always tried to make things a little bit different than usual lessons...you know the boring ones in the castle.

"Last time we did a brief introduction to Muggle Superheroes...I hope some of ya'll had a chance to sneak to the library and check out some of the books and comics dealing with those Superheroes we discussed." she said finally sinking into her usual positive attitude and demeanor.

"Can anyone remember the name of a superhero and their power that we discussed last time?" she asked glancing around the classroom at all of the faces.

While still eating candies, she was surprised when the lights went out then heard an evil-ish laugh from the background. Hmm... I reckon it's another trick of Professor Cerulean for the start of her class. Then a video started from somewhere. After the video had finished, lights are turning on slowly and a superhero nor villain in a fierce costume appeared in front. It was Professor Ceraleun.

And now, to discuss the last lesson. Befelda raised her hand and answered, "Professor, there's Captain America, he was once a very thin man who wants to be part of the army who in time became a super soldier after administering an experiment on him.", she answered.

SPOILER!!: Favorite Villain

"How bout everyone share a villain from your favorite movie or story, fictional or nonfictional....this doesn't have to be a superhero villain...just any villain in general from the Muggle or Wizarding world..." she asked the question and then answered her own question, "One of my most favorite villains is Ursula from Disney's the Little Mermaid." she shared her choice and then glanced out at the students to encourage their answers

Ahh! Favorite villain. She raised her hand at once and answered, "Professor, my favorite is Megamind. He is somewhat villain and evil at first, but became good and and realized his mistakes in the end. I love his personality and character."

A small smirk slowly made its way across Sierra's face. Two points! Sure, it was a sort of small amount, but hey, two points were two points. She gave rhe professor a nod of appreciation.

...and then she raised her hand.

"You know, Professor, I'll admit to knowing next to nothing about the Muggle ways of living, but last lesson you gave us some advice. You told us we'd be learning about villains in the next lesson, and that the library had some books on villains," she said. Yes, she'd done her homework. All of it. "So I actually visited the library and made an effort to come to class with a little more knowledge about these Muggle villains. I read about Cruella De Vil. She's this woman with skunk-colored hair who kidnaps these dalmatians, so she can make clothes from their fur."

Surprise, Professor! We finally know a Muggle-related answer!
