Muggle Studies Lesson #3-Muggle Fairy Tales http://i793.photobucket.com/albums/y...talestitle.jpg ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ On the door entering into the classroom is a copy of the invitation that was posted in each of the Common Rooms. This is posted as a reminder that you need to be in your pajamas for tonite's SPOILER!!: Lesson Invitation When you walk into the Muggle Studies classroom, the smell of a campfire is floating in the air and the soft hum of crickets echoes in the distance. The classroom is still a classroom with four walls, but each wall has been draped with black material to give it an outdoor night time feeling. Every now and then a light breeze blows through the classroom just enough that you will want to sit close to the campfire and have a blanket to cover up with. The only light in the room is from the real campfire crackling in the center of the room and from the ceiling which has been charmed to show the night sky full of stars and the bright moon much like in the Great Hall. Around the campfire are logs laid out in a circular-ish pattern for the students to sit on. They have each been charmed to help make them comfy to sit on. Against the back black wall is a table that is slightly lit by an old miner's lamp. This is a hot chocolate bar for the night's events. On the table are thermoses full of Muggle hot chocolate and mugs in a variety of colors for you to fill up from the thermoses. Feel free to top off your hot chocolate with any of the other items available for topping off your mug of hot chocolate. There is whipped cream in a can, cinnamon sprinkles, big marshmallows, small marshmallows, sugar sprinkles, and peppermints. SPOILER!!: Hot Chocolate Bar, ignore the Christmas Decorations...haha. The professor can be found near the campfire in her favorite leopard pajamas and tiger feet slippers covered up with a warm and fluffy giraffe print blanket sipping out of a zebra mug filled hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. Beside her sits a few books, a picnic basket, and a pile of blankets. Feel free to ask her to borrow a blanket if you forgot yours. O and her favorite stuffed animal, Punchers, is sitting in her lap. Please help yourself to the goodies and drinks and have a seat. Get comfy and feel free to talk among yourself until the class starts. OOC: Please sit down and grab something to drink. If you need a blanket, feel free to ask the Professor to borrow one. The class will officially start later tomorrow morning sometime. O___O THIS WAS AWESOME! If there was one thing Ella liked it was camping. And the setup of the classroom was like camping but better! No wild animals to eat you AND a hot chocolate bar! Yup. That is what Ella had noticed first! The second year walked over to the fire, decked out in her favorite PJs and holding on tightly to her pillow, blanket, and stuffed Elephant Petey. She walked towards an empty log and placed her pillow and blanket to the side, turning her attention to the professor next. "Hi Professor, cool pajamas!" She said cheerfully. And then it was time for hot chocolate right? RIGHT! Still holding Petey, Ella headed to the hot chocolate bar. The second year picked up a green mug and filled it with the steaming hot chocolate. Next she added in the mini marshmallows with a smile. YUM! When she was finished, she returned to the log where her pillow and blanket sat and waited for her friends to arrive. She couldn't help but think about the pillow fight as she stared down at her own. Imagine a class pillow fight?! GRIN. |
Emmanuelle was slightly preoccupied when she walked into the classroom. She couldn't stop herself from wondering who was going to freeze this time. But then again, at least if someone froze in this class, they'd be comfortable, right? Seeing as how they were all wearing their pajamas and all. She was so caught up in that, she didn't even care how people reacted to her pjs, slippers, and blanket combo. Nope, she just wrapped her blanket tighter around herself and made her way to where the hot chocolate bar was set up. Picking up a blue mug, she filled it halfway with hot chocolate and topped it off with whipped cream, small marshmallows, cinnamon sprinkles, and sugar sprinkles. She figured that the large amount of sugar would help jolt her out of the state of worry she had been in since History of Magic the other day. "Hello, professor," she said politely, sitting herself down on a log that was closer to the fire. Mmm, toasty. She took a sip of her hot chocolate and waited for the sugar to kick in. "Love your pajamas!" |
OK, was Nigel dreaming right now. Because he swore that he was suppose to walk into the muggle studies classroom and not a campfire. Well he couldn't complain because he was wearing his awesome Batman PJS and holding his batman blanket He looked around and spotted a HOT CHOCOLATE BAR. this was too awesome for Nigel. He ran over to it and immediately started making himself a cup of hot chocolate. He loaded it with whip cream , cinnamon sprinkles, and big marshmallows. Once he was done he walked back over to the Professor and said "Hello, Professor awesome pajamas!" and he then sat down on a log. This was great, he was at a campfire with hot chocolate and his batman blanket and they were going to learn about fairy tales. This was awesome. |
Ella! *nudgenudge* Quote:
He pushed open the door and was surprised to see that he was one of the first to arrive. This made him a little bit uncomfortable since this was going to be his first time to attend Muggle Studies, and finding himself one of the first made him look like he was the eager beaver. His gaze went from the campire to the professor who was also wearing her PJs... PJs come in those prints? “Wowza.” He said to himself and grinned at their mentor. “Hello, professor.” Mordred acknowledged their teacher and went to the table full of tumblers and hot chocolate. He didn’t want to hangout yet near the campfire, because he’d definitely look like an over-excited child. He stood next to a blond girl, who was helping herself with hot chocolate. Mordred got hold of a green tumbler and started to pour hot chocolate in it as he side-eyed the girl. “You’re part of the girls team back at the Room of Requirements, right?” he asked and eyed the different toppings...what’s that can? |

Text Cut: Ella and Morbid Mordy Sophie was excited about this class! She had never attended a Muggle Studies lesson before, but once she heard what this was going to be about, she had to go! And for um, some other reason too, but anyway, no one would know about that part, heh! She peeked through the door as widened her eyes in awe. Woooooooooooooow! That was an awesome classroom! A wide smile spread acroos her face as she slowly entered the room. Muggle Studies must be the coolest subject EVER! Sophie made a mental note to come back next time. This professor seemed cool! Oh! And there she was! "Hello, professor!" She said cheerfully. After taking a good look at everything around - sooooo brilliant! - Sophie started looking for the people. Not that it would be that hard, since there were only a few people there. She quickly spotted her blonde friend over by the hot chocolate bar talking to Mordreeeed! Beaming, she made her way there. "Hi there, you guys!!" She BEEAMED some more as she looked for an orange mug. |
Quote:
“I’m Mordred.” He took her hand and shook it. Wait. Was that a strand of hair covering his eyes? Hair flip. He swears it’s a contagious disease that Alec’s been spreading. On another note, he needs to have a haircut soon. His hair was starting to look like a mop. “Would you know what this is?” he asked her as he shook the can wildly and read the label. Whip Cream. “Oh. Yeah. Whip Cream...but it doesn’t come in cans...” he told her still looking at the item with confusion. Seriously, muggles were doing it the unpractical way. “How do you make the cream out..” his sentence was cut short as he pushed the tip of the can, which was directly pointed at his face. SPPFFFFT. Soon enough, he figured how it was done to release the whip cream out of the can as his face got smothered by the content. "..of the can..?" Mental note saved. Stay away from Muggle items. |

Alex spotted her new friend Ella talking to a boy she did not know. She mouthed a "hi" and gave a quick wave to Ella as she passed by. Continuing on toward an empty seat Alex said, "Hello Professor". She sat down and was surprised at how cushy her seat was. She couldn't wait for class to begin. This was going to be fun! |
Annabelle walked in the classroom and saw the hot chocolate table. She immediatley went to the table and loaded her hot coco with sprinkles, whip cream and cinnamon. She noticed the campfire. It reminded her of camping with her family back in the muggle world. She wore penguin pajamas with her penguin plushie by her side. Belle also had her penguin slippers to wear with her set. She admired the room and was excited to hear about fairy tales. "Nice Pajamas Professor!" Annabelle said with a smile. After she greeted the professor, she put down her pillow and blankets. She put down her purple pillow down first and then she put down her purple soft blanket As she sat down, she knew this was going to be an awesome lesson. She was already snug as a bug in a rug on her nice soft blanket she put down. |
SPOILER!!: Mordy, Sophie, and Alex "It's nice to meet you Morbi-I mean Modred." O__O WHOOPS! Ella tried to cover up the little slip with a smile as she released his hand and looked at him ag-HUH? A hair flip? REALLY? The second year raised her eyebrows at the boy, a smirk forming on her face. Was he trying to distract her...again? Darn that beautiful head of hair! MUST NOT LOOK AT IT. She had to stay focused on the task at hand...getting to know Mordy for Soph. And she had to look away from those locks long enough to-"Huh? I'm sorry?" Had he asked her something? She eyed the can he was holding…whipped cream. But he already knew that apparently. And what was that confused expression? Did he need help getting it out. "Mordred you really should squeeze that-" O____o Ella looked at the boy, hand cupped over her mouth to stifle the giggles. "I uh-I think you figured it out." GRIN. And the second year handed him a napkin. Soph! Had she been standing there all along?! DID SHE SEE THAT? She eyed her friend with raised eyebrows and a smile. "SOPH! Happy you’re here! Come and get some hot chocolate!" And stand next to your loooove. Tehehehe. And then there was another person Ella knew! Alex! The second year smiled widely as her newest friend passed by and waved at her. She made a mental note to hang out with her again real soon. Looking at Sophie and Mordy again, Ella smiled and motioned towards the logs. "I already put my pillow and blanket down over there. You guys want to go sit?" |
Alyssa felt embarrassed walking around in her PJs but as she entered the Muggle Studies classroom, she grinned because everyone she could see in there were in theirs too. Alyssa grabbed a soda and some snacks and then went over to greet the Professoe "Great job again with the decorations, Professor. This class is going to be soooo cool. I can't wait for it to start." Alyssa grinned at the Professoe before looking around and finding a spot and putting her blanket ands own before plumping her pillow and holding it, she sat down. |
The redhead had been surprised to say the least when she read the invitation on the notice board about the next Muggle Studies lesson. Cerulean had always been the type of Professor that enjoyed making her classes an event, which was always fun for the students, but pajamas? If the Charms Professor walked in the room she would no doubt have a fit at the pajama filled student body being a woman of order. And although Selina was not sure how she felt about the whole pajama aspect of the lesson, it was Muggle Studies which meant food and Selina loved food. So she threw on her favorite pajamas and grabbed her stuffed animal and headed down to Muggle Studies. When she arrived, she stepped inside the classroom and smiled broadly at Professor Cerulean, "Hello Professor!" Then with a slight nod of her head she headed off to the snack table, which was a popular attraction to the young Skylar. |
This... was... so... COOL! Although she felt a bit awkward to walk around the castle in her PJs, Nora finally made it to the Muggle Studies classroom, and her eyes instantly widened. It looked amazing, but it was no surprise there. She knew how much professor Cerulean liked to decorate her classroom, and she surely had a rich imagination. "Hello, professor," she grinned, making her way to one of the logs to... oh? To find that they were more comfortable than they looked like. As for the girl... her PJs were all dotted with different shades of purple and pink, and she also wore a pair of super fluffy slippers, which were actually monkeys. Her blanket had no interesting print, which was stuffed in her bag, and she carried a BIG teddy bear in her arms, since she wouldn't risk stuffing THAT into any bag, no matter if it had charms to be larger on the inside |
Asher wasn't sure what to expect from this class. By the invitation. It seems like a very odd thing to wear Pjs to class. and Bring a pillow and blanket to class. Did the professor want them all to fall asleep in class? But he couldn't lie his pjs would be a nice change to his usual school inform. His frog slippers would be more comfortable than those long socks. And there was no way that he'd forget his pillow and Spiderman blank He walked into the classroom. He smelled a campfire, and a small breeze. Wait... wait it was a REAL campfire, it was like they were really camping. with the night sky with stars and anything there were log brenches. Asher walked by the professor and waved. "Good night.. er nice night for camping Hey Professor C." and headed over the HOT CHOCOLATE. He grabbed a thermos filled it with hot coco and a TON of marshmallows, whipped cream and sprinkles, a cinnamon stick and topped it off with a cherry. He walked back over and plopped down on a bench, and sipped his hot coco. |

The prefect took in the decorated setting and spotting Selina already there and hanging around the food. He himself moved to set down his belongings to save a spot or two. "Good evening Professor," he greeted with a polite nod at the woman as she sat at the camp fire. Gideon then moved to get himself a cup of cocoa. "Fancy meeting you here..." he mused with a smile at the redhead as he fixed his mug, sticking a peppermint stick in after he had poured the hot liquid. |

So here she was in her pajamas and as soon as she had entered the room she got a full whiff of the burning campfire that lit the dark room. As she began walking more into the classroom Violet noticed the professor waiting for all of the students to arrive. To which Violet smiled politely and gave her a gentle wave saying lightly,"Hello Professor.." Then Violet turned her attention towards the face who had arrived there, and some she knew, some she didn't. Until her violet eyes had rested on the snack table where she saw a very familiar pair of heads, one of them being red while the other filled with curls. Violet gasped a little bit and smiled eagerly and she scurried in her slipper boots towards them. Violet then wrapped her arms around the redhead saying excitedly,"Hi Sely!" She gave her best friend a tight quick squeeze before she turned her attention towards Gideon and almost squealed when she said,"GIDDY-eon!" And as she had done before, she hugged Gideon tightly and then let go looking at the two smiling. Violet then wrapped her blanket around herself again before saying,"So don't you two look adorable in your jammies!" She giggled a little bit. |
As per instructions, the Ravenclaw made his way from the Eagle tower towards the Muggle Studies classroom, a borrowed pillow from the Common Room couches and his own fleece blanket tucked under his arm, and of course his usual book bag which was slung across the other shoulder. Vickers himself however, wasnt exactly wearing things as per instructions, opting to wear his sweatpants instead of his actual PJs. It was a personal thing, PJs, and so he opted for the next best alternative. As he entered the classroom icy blues scanned the set-up for tonight's class. He had to smile-- it looked like a summer campfire in here when it was the dead of winter outside the castle walls. Spotting people milling at the back of the class for what is obviously the refreshments bar, he passed by the Professor and gave her a polite nod "Good evening Professor Cerulean." he greeted her. Spotting her own drink he added "Thats a good combination..." and promptly made his way at the back of the classroom to whip himself up a similar drink, hot chocolate with whip cream and cinnamon sprinkles, bu he added some small marshmallows too. He finally made his way to one of the logs, laid his still folded blanket across it and took a seat. |
Maxwell walked into the classroom to see it transformed into a campfire, He was wearing grey sweatpants and a gryffindor t-shirt. He was shocked to see he'd beat Min to a class. "Hello, professor. You're classroom looks awesome!" He said with a smile. He loved how this terms lessons were surrounding muggle stories. He grabbed a red mug and filled it with some hot chocolate and thought about getting one for Min but figured it best to wait so hers didn't get cold, he took a seat and wondered if he'd see anyone else in this class. |
Upon seeing the invitation in the Ravenclaw Common Room, Lana wasn't completely sure about it. There was not way that she wanted people outside her family or her own house seeing her in her favourite pajamas. It was only think for her pseudo family in her house to see her in what she thought were boring pajamas and it was another for the whole of the student body to see it. Plus did she really want everyone to see what stuffed animal she had brought with her this year? It was bound to get her teased for sure. No, she had serious doubts about it all and it had taken a lot for her to finally push aside her concerns and headed down to lesson. |
Leobald knew that at Hogwarts you had to expect the unexpected; so he wasn't totally taken aback when the invitation to join the muggle studies lesson arrived with required attire. Getting dressed in his rooms behind his office in pjs with the house crest beasts of all the four houses presented in the print on it he was ready. Picking up a zebra striped blanket on the way out, Leobald headed down the stairs to the first floor. Entering the muggle studies classroom he greeted Professor Cerulean with a cheery smile. "Good evening Professor Cerulean. Nice tiger slippers." Dropping his blanket on one of the logs Leobald sat down amongst the students. |
Was this a lesson? Or storytime? Daisy couldn't exactly tell as she wandered to the classroom, already sleepy in her pyjamas, but not embarrassed as everyone else seemed to be wearing them too. Muggle Studies was always a bit... different, but maybe this was a Muggle kind of thing, having lessons in pyjamas. Shrugging it off, she entered the cosy classroom, grinning at the hot chocolate and grabbing a mug, hoping they'd be allowed as much as they wanted. One hot chocolate was never satisfying. Snuggling in her dressing gown which was so big it might have well have been a blanket, she grabbed a couple of marshmallows and flopped into a seat. This would be one interesting lesson... |
BEST IDEA EVAAAA. Blue bounced into the classroom, carrying her pillow, teddy (IT WAS WEARING IT'S PJS TOO!!!) and her blanket. Her jaw dropped and her mouth made an almost perfect 'O' in surprise!shock at the awesome sight that beheld her. Cue BEAM at the awesome Professor who thought of this. :x3: "Hello Professor! I love your pajamas." Another BEAM before she put her stuff down and practically ran to the hot chocolate. She poured herself a mug (even though she wasn't really supposed to handle hot things - she spilled a little and now there was a patch of red on her hand from burning herself >_<) and dropped She blew a little on her hot drink and sipped it. PAAAAAH. It was too hot. :whaa: But delicous. |

He walked through the door stopping as he walked in.He looked around. This Place was awesome!Derrick thought to himself. He walked in more looking around. There was a spot next to a Boy his age.He walked over and looked down.''Mind if I Sit here?''He asked smiling. |
This was so cool. SO COOL. Theodore really applauded the professor's efforts to make each lesson as cool as possible. It totally stimulated his brain for learning, completely unlike what his old muggle school used to. The boy skipped into the classroom, and his eyes travelled to the sweets immediately. YUMMMMMMMM. He made himself a hot chocolate, and swirled an epic amount of whipped cream on top. Sipping it, he proudly FLAUNTED his cream mustache. OHYEA.. Equipped with his pillow, stuffed animal, slippers and SPIDERMAN pyjamas, Theo joined his bestie, Blue, and offered her a big BEAM. He would shout hello, if this weren't a class. Theo hated chatting in classes, it scared him. |
THE COOLEST CLASS EVER! Like seriously wearing your favorite PJs to class? That's SO AWESOME! Messer entered the classroom wearing his favorite PJs and his dragon fluffy slippers that his sister sent him for Christmas. He need to give his lil sis another present because he adored this slippers. "Hello, Professor." he greeted their Muggle Studies Professor with a curt nod. "How are you this lovely evening?" the Hufflepuff asked before sat on one of the logs. |
plus Mr Kitridge Quote:
He turnedd when there was a guy grown up voice that joined them. The Ravenclaw smiled, it was the Librarian. At least now he had a bit more to show for since the last time the man saw him when they were talking about Fairytales, specially of the Muggle variety. He's done his homework mmhmmm. |
Sarah walked in, her blanket folded neatly in her arms. Her robe was pink with a tiara embroided on in hot pink. It was so nice and warm! Underneath you could see slivers of her pyjamas - a winter nighy with flowers and a matching pair of pyjama pants. Her blanket also had a feminine theme to it, hearts were printed on it. Sarah greeted the professor and went and got a mug of steaming hot chocolate. She sat down on a log and began to sip her hot chocolate. The hot chocolate warmed her inside and with the fire burning Sarah began to feel quite hot. |
SPOILER!!: Gideon and Violet The redhead was overwhelmed with the food on the table that her eyes were seemingly swimming through a chocolate ocean. It was hard for her to choose just one treat to take with her back to the seats around the campfire. And she only wanted to take one treat because she was starting to get the idea that she was frightening the first years with her never ending stomach. To be honest, it was kind of weird how much she could ingest. Then she heard a Scottish timbre wittily remark and she turned around to smile at him. Before she could retort she took in his pajamas and mused that they were very him. They looked so comfortable, "Yeah, fancy meeting you here in class." Before she could make another comment she heard a bubbly, bright, loud voice scream the familiar nickname that Gideon hated. Violet. "Hey Vi." |
Jory walked into the classroom wearing his favourite Star Wars pajamas. He couldn't think of anything cooler than wearing PJ's to a lesson. "Good evening, Professor,'' he said smiling. He went to get some hot chocolate before finding a seat. Looking around the room, he saw many different colours and patterned PJs. "Looks like a PJ party,'' he thought, sipping the hot chocolate. |
For Mordy Ella and Sophie Oakey came into the class in a very interesting pajamas. they were a black plaid footie pajamas that he wore under a Maroon untied bathrobe. He was prode of it and strutt the rest of the way into class. He neared professor Cerulean and gave her an odd look with all the animal prints she was wearing. Those aren't real, are they? he thought. She doesn't seem like the real furs type of person. No, that was Lafay and she'd come into class wearing Williamson's dragon if she could get her hands on the baby. Good day professor, could I borrow a blacket? Oakey said as he walked to the refreshments and made himself a hot cup of cocoa. He looked around to find a place to sit, maybe Mordy was nearby? Just as his BFF's name crossed his mind he heard a loud. PPPPPFFFFFFFSSST He turned his attention in that direction and saw that Mordy just sprayed whipped cream all over his face! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA Oakey began laughing histarically at the Slytherin friend as he came closer to the him. Looks like you don't need me around to feel unlucky yourself. He slapped his hand hard on Mordy's back. Calming himself from laughing any further. Mordy wasn't alone though, surrounding him were two of his fellow housemates. Ella and Sophie. He gave them a smile...OH WAIT, not to Ella she could have spilled his secret to Laura. He gave an attemped scowl that looked more like he just ate a whole lemon towards her. |
Laura didn't like this idea one bit, who's idea was it to have them in PJ's, people could be mean to them and say their Pj's were stupid and basically make fun of them, hadn't the Professor thought about that when she had made this lesson Laura slowly peeked around the classroom door, she was glad when she saw that Oakey and Lana was there, but would Oakey laugh at her PJ's well there was only one way to find out. Laura walked into the classroom slowly, she was wearing her favorate PJ's, they were pink but on the top there was a picture of SCOOBY-DOO, she loved that programme and her parents had got the PJ's she was wearing last christmas for her. |
Quickly rushing down the stairs, Lily hoped she wouldn't be late for the class. It had taken a little while to find her blanket and dig it out from the bottom of her trunk. Why she didn't already have it on her bed, she didn't know. But all that mattered now was getting to class on time. Slipping through the doorway in her baby blue fleece pj's, the ravenclaw smiled at the professor before grabbing a seat on a log. Hot chocolate could wait for now... |
Oh, please. A class in pyjamas. João had rolled his eyes at the idea when he had seen it. He even considered not attending the class, because really, what about pyjamas? He was not wearing them out of his bedroom. No. But points were points, and he decided at last to attend with a simple white shirt with turtle neck and black, comfortable trousers. This was his pyjamas, if they bought it. Entering the classroom, he smiled at the professor(s) politely and found himself somewhere away from the others to sit. He, of course, had only brought his pillow and blanket. What was he, a 3 year old kid to still carry around stuffed animals? He even ignored hot chocolate and simply waited for the class to start. |
Minerva hurried into class. She couldn't believe that so many students had already arrived, she was use to being one of the first. Feeling a bit flustered she stopped when she saw the room and smiled the smell of a fireplace filled her senses and she smiled. "Hello Professor, this is so wonderful. I am so excited for class. A pajama's class was brilliant." She then saw Maxwell and walked over to him, "You made it here before me? Man the flu really must have gotten to me." she grinned at him. Then went over for hot chocolate, "Did you get hot chocolate yet?" |
Introduction and Question #1 Gemma was loving seeing the students in their pajamas. Some of them were really cute and she needed to ask where they had gotten them. As each walked in, she smiled at them between sips. Quote:

She stood up from her spot with her mug in her hand and held out her right hand for a shake, “It’s great to see you Leobald….and thanks…they let out the animal inside of me…” she said excitedly. She took a little sip of her chocolate and got a little bit of whip cream on her nose. She quickly whipped it off with a little giggle. “I’m glad that you were able to make it…what do I need to call you in front of the students…Leobald…Librarian Leobald…” she asked with a little wink…she wanted to make sure she was speaking properly with his wishes. Once everyone was settled in spots, she looked around the room and took a little breath to get herself ready for the lesson and then she stood up in her spot with the picnic basket hanging on her right arm. “Welcome everyone to the second Muggle Studies Lesson! This time we are going to be focusing on Muggle Fairy Tales.” she said excitedly and then opened up the picnic basket and pulled out three huge bags. One bag had big marshmallows in it, the next had little chocolate bars, and the last had graham crackers in it. “In true campfire spirit, we are going to make smores tonite. Don’t worry if you haven’t made one before, we’ll do it together once everyone has all of their supplies. ” she said holding up the three bags. ”I’m going to pass around the picnic basket. If you will grab one marshmallow, two graham crackers, and one chocolate bar. Don’t worry about the chocolate melting, I’ve charmed it to not do that.” as she said each ingredient she held up that bag in case not everyone was familiar with each and then she started passing around the picnic basket. “Okay, now onto the lesson….” she said with a little pause as the picnic basket started being passed around the circle. “ Fairy tales are stories either created or strongly influenced by oral traditions. Their plots feature stark conflicts between good and evil, with magic and luck determining the usually happy endings. While each culture and geographic region of the world has its own body of folk tales and fairy tales that it considers its own, certain themes and motifs tend to be repeated across many cultures and time periods. Many human emotions such as love, hate, courage, kindness, and cruelty appear in bold, broad strokes on the canvas of fairy tales.” she said almost like she was a storyteller sharing a story already. ”Because of the worldwide connection of fairy tales, their imagery and lessons have had a vast impact on many different forms of literature. The elements and echoes of fairy tales are alive in plays, movies, and books for all ages.” she said with a little nod up and down. “[b]Now there are fairy tales in both Muggle and Wizarding Worlds. Some are very similar in nature and teach the same ultimate lesson in the end. But, before we get started, I’m anxious to know what everyone’s favorite fairy tale is.” She said holding her arms out. “Please raise your hand and share what your favorite fairy tale is, whether it’s muggle or wizard.” OOC: Okay, the lesson has started so all conversations should be squashed. Do not announce your charrie coming in late or points will be deducted from your house. Feel free to catch up with the lesson at any point by putting Catching Up in the title of your post. Please remember to raise your hand and try not to repeat others’ answers. Remember that Gemma is watching. |

Favorite fairy tale... While the second year waited for the smores supplies to make their way around to her, she got comfortable in her blanket and thought of a good fairy tale that she liked. The only magical ones she knew of were from The Tales of Beedle the Bard, but she knew hundreds... well maybe not hundreds, of muggle fairy tales. Which one was the best though? She did like Winnie the Pooh... but that wasn't her favorite. She didn't really like any of the princess ones like Cinderella...simply because they were a little too girly. In the end, she decided on which one she liked, so she raised her hand to answer. "I like The Tale of the Three Brothers the most." It was a popular wizarding story, and Lily really liked it the first time she read it. |
Quote:
"I think my favourite fairy tale is the Wizard of Oz. It's been made several prequels and sequels and threequels and a musical, Wicked. I just love it." |
Minerva settled into her seat and gave Maxwell a smile as the professor began to talk about fairy tales. Minerva loved fairy tales and anything with chocolate so this lesson was going to be AWESOME. She put up her hand, "Professor I love muggle fairy tales with princesses, but I think my favorite as to be The Little Mermaid. I love when Arial changes from mermaid to human." She smiled thinking of the book and the movie that she had tucked away in her room. |
Oakey's glare hadn't gone unnoticed but Ella didn't have time to ask him what that was all about as class was now starting. She frowned at the boy before making a mental note to find him after class and figure out what the heck was going on. He wouldn't be like...glaring at her all class, would he?! Once she was seated again, Ella turned her attention to Professor Cerulean. They were making s'mores?! YUM! Ella grinned, bouncing excitedly on her log. She chanced a glance over at As the basket was passed to Ella, she removed two graham crackers, a marshmallow, and a piece of chocolate cheerfully, before passing it on. And then it was time to share her favorite fairy tale, yeah? "Professor, my favorite is Peter Pan! It's a muggle tale written by J.M. Barrie!" And just like Peter Pan, Ella wasn't sure she ever wanted to grow up. |

Messer listened when Professor Cerulean explained to them about fairy tales. His favorite fairy tale? That's an easy question. The Hufflepuff raised his hand up in the air to get the Professor attention "My favorite fairy tale is The Ugly Ducking, Professor. Its a muggle fairy tale penned by Hans Christian Andersen." he said. |
AS the basket went around, Alyssa took out two graham crackers, a marshmallow and a piece of chocolate wondering why the Professor was so specific with how many they should take, because Alyssa would have loved to take more than one piece of chocolate. She LOVED chocolates. But for now she'd just settle with what she was supposed to take. Alyssa waited while the others gave their favorite story and when it was her turn, she raised her hand and said. "Professor my favorite story is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It's a muggle story although there is a wicked queen/witch and a poisoned apple involved and I believe that it was written by Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm otherwise known as the Brothers Grimm." |
Catching up. O.o Chelle pulled up her legs and crossed them, making herself even more comfortable. She rubbed her eyes, trying hard to keep them open, because she hadn't expected to be falling asleep. But she was. Even before the lesson began officially. Wait... There are fairytales in the Wizarding World?! Chelle's eyebrows shot up. She found it somewhat strange that Wizards should have fairytales. What with their knowledge of magic, they were expected to be living in a fairytale. In fact, her life had started to feel like a fairytale itself, after those few months she spent at Hogwarts. But she loved fairytales. Muggle ones, of course, as those were the only ones she'd ever heard. She raised her hand. "Cinderella, Professor," she said, smiling. "The story of Cinderella, the beautiful princess who was treated as a maid in her own house by her evil stepmother, is my favourite fairytale. I especially like the idea that even after she comes back from the ball, feeling like her little fantasy is over, the Prince comes back to look for her with the help of her glass slipper." Yes, she loved that about the story. It could have been just another fairytale. She liked them all, especially the ones about the 'kiss of true love'. Yet, she was a little partial to Cinderella. It gave her a different kind of hope. Maybe someday, someone would come back to look for her, the same way. |
Fairytales! That's what Erin was talking about with Blair Taylor earlier at the Great Hall. That girl needed some spark in her life. That was fairy tale. Those fairytales her mother recited her every night, they were classic. It was like, she grew up with them. Feeling rather interested since they were tackling this one in a deeper sense, Erin couldn't pick one, there were just so many. But she needed to pick only one so that her other wizard classmates wouldn't run out of fairytales to say. Since, she grew up in a Muggle community, these kind of stuffs were a lot easier for her. Her hands shot up in the air and before she knew it she was already reciting, "I like the story of Hansel and Gretel Professor." She offered a grin before continuing, "...they were siblings." And hearing her other wizard classmates answers, almost all of them knew who wrote their fairytales. Weird 'cause Erin didn't know who did hers. Grin. |
Laura looked at the Professor and did what the Professor said before handing the basket onto the next person, she then raised her hand up in the air before smiling. "Is the Muppets a fairytale, because that is one awesome film." Laura giggled she wasn't sure about that. "But book wise my favorate fairytale has to be, Goldilocks and the three bears." |
Oh fairytales! Selina smiled broadly as she thought about all of her favorite fairytales from her youth. Her Aunt Jennette would always read the famous wizarding stories to her and her cousins whenever she would visit for the weekend, which was often in her youth. As she listened to all of the weird muggle story names bring thrown around she rose her own hand, "My favorite story was The Fountain of Fair Fortune!. It's from the tales of the beedle the bard, I don't know who wrote them... I don't think that's even recorded. But it's about three witches." And it was awesome! |
Annabelle was glad the professor loved her pajamas. Then she heard her question was thinking of what her favorite fairytale was. This was a hard one because she had heard so many from when her grandmother back home read fairytale before she went to bed. "Professor i think my favorite fairytale would be Beauty and the Beast. I love it because it shows you can love someone not just based off of what they look on the inside but see who they truly are on the inside. I also love the movie that went with it." Belle said with a smile. She was still hugging her penguin plushie. |

With a big grin on her face, the girl raised her hand to answer professor Cerulean's question. "I like any fairy tale that involves a Prince Charming in it, professor!" Something she noticed was that fairy tale writers, or at least the muggle ones, were not that creative when it came to the prince part. Princesses had pretty names, and the guys were always called 'Prince Charming'. ... maybe it was one and the same in each fairy tale? |
Alec shuffled on his pillow slightly as he looked at the picnic basket the professor was holding. Having had no idea what smores were, he wasn't sure whether he wanted to try them or not. What if they were something weird that only people like Theo would taste? But then the Professor brought out the bags in the picnic basket and... they looked pretty awesome! Marshmallows and chocolate and graham crackers. Almost as great as ice cream. Almost When the basket was passed to him, he took out two graham crackers, a chocolate bar and a marshmallow before passing the basket on. His tummy groaned slightly but he ignored this and looked back up at the Professor. She had said that they were going to make smores and he didn't want to eat this without trying this smore-thing first. Blink. Someone said Peter Pan! Alec looked around and grinned at the sight of the blonde second year. He always knew Ells had good taste in these things. He turned back around to face the Professor and raised his hand. "I like Peter Pan too!" It was mainly because Peter Pan always reminded him of a certain best friend of his... who wasn't here right now... very sad. "And... Aladdin. It's a Middle Eastern Folk Tale." Apart from the actual story, that's all he knew about it. |
Quote:
"My favorite is Beauty and the Beast, professor," Louisa had held her hand high before answering that, "It's a muggle fairy tale about a strong and educated girl named Belle." Were they supposed to say the whole story? Probably not. The Ravenclaw fell silent then and looked around for the next person that wanted to share. |
"I rather like the little Mermaid. Well the movie, not the book, it's creepy. But the movie, is so sweet and is just the right amount of darkness bit still has a happy ending.", Ouichi responded ending on a smile. |
Sarah took the two greahm crackers, chocolate and marshmellow from the picnic basket and passed the basket on. Favourite fairy tale, she was going to opt for a muggle one as it was muggle studies after all -"The story about the Ugly Duckling. How everyone is special each in it's own way. Like Albert Einstein said "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” This is what happened with the story SPOILER!!: the ugly duckling |
Oh! She had to supress a laughter when Mordred got his face and When professor... well, the professor started the class, Sophie went to sit on a log by her friend Ella. Oooooooooooo! Smores! Yum! As the picnic basket - a really cute one, in Sophie's opinion. She loved those kind of things! - passed around, Sophie listened as her classmates spoke, thinking about what her favourite fairy tale was... she really didn't know. She liked fairy tales, of course, but she never had a favourite one. After taking two graham crackers, a marshmallow and a piece of chocolate for herself, Sophie passed the basket along and looked at Mordred. Shame his lovely hair is full of whipped cream... OH! She quickly raised her hand. "Professor, I really like Rapunzel!" GRIN. |
Making SMORES? Coooool. Theo had actually never done that before, but that was primarily because he didn't feel comfortable around fires. And he certainly didn't trust himself with handling/cooking any types of food. Nope, he was invented to eat, not cook. As the basket made his way to the first year, he picked out everything he needed and sat it very tidily in front of him. So, the lesson was about fairy tales. That could be... fun. Meh. His favourite, though? Well, Theo was more of a comic person as opposed to fairy tales. But seeing as Spiderman wouldn't be an option, Theo raised his hand and mentioned another from WAY back in his childhood, "The Gingerbread Man." Oh yeah... he liked that mischievous gingerbread man. It reminded him of himself. That's right. Theo WAS the gingerbread man. His head popped up as some people mentioned Peter Pan, too. Why didn't HE say that one? Yes, Peter Pan was definitely his real favourite. |
Well of course, the Professor would like his pjs, they were awesome. But he did like the spider-man pjs some other people were wearing. He took a couple sips of his hot chocolate just to see if it cooled down enough of him to drink. It appears it did so Nigel took a good long drink of his delicious hot chocolate. He then took a minute to think about what is favorite fairy tale was. He did like Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White, Cinderella, and Rapunzel. But he did know his favorite. He raised his hand. "Professor, My favorite is Jack and the Beanstalk" |
SPOILER!!: Violet and Selina Gideon smiled as Selina responded in kind to his comment. "Aye...of course. Where else would I be?" It was rhetoric and it wasn't as if an answer was needed, just a way to bolster the conversation. However the conversation was interrupted by another familiar voice..Violet had appeared by their side. He watched absently as the blonde hugged her best friend and then was surprised by his own hug, the prefect thankfully able to keep his mug from spilling in the process. "Hey Violet," he greated simply with a friendly smile. Before much more could be said, Professor Cerulean brought the attention of the class to her begining the lesson. Gideon moved obediantly from the table, leading the duo if they so chose back to the spot where he had set down his blanket. SPOILER!!: Cerulean Gideon briefly noticed as he took his seat that the librarian had arrived as well, apparently to join the lesson. It certainly made sense given the topic of fairy tales and his position within the school.Turning his attention back to the muggle studies professor, he listened to the explaination of fairy tales before the first question of the day was given. The sixth year thought for a bit as others suggested their own, including Selina's selection, Gideon finally raised his hand to answer. "There is the Scottish tale of 'The Laird o' Co'" Gideon suggested, a tale he remembered himself from years past, another popping to mind and a more likely favorite."And 'The Sword in the Loch'." That was a Scottish version of the King Arthur tales, a story that brought forth a connection to his own middle name. |
SPOILER!!: Prof Gemma He was about to blurt out the Muggle Fairytales he's researched and the ones that left an imprint on him when he caught the last part -- 'whether Muggle or Wizard'? Well if she asked for his favorite he had this to say "Professor, one of the first bedtime stories that was read to me was The Wizard and the Hopping Pot, its one of the stories in Tales of Beedle the Bard." he replied after raising his hand. |
She's been here all along. *whistles* With her hot chocolate mug cupped in her hands, the red head sat quietly and soundly on one of the logs by the campfire. She had her purple blanky wrapped around her with Winky her teddy sitting on her lap. On her shoulder, her pygmy puff, Puffles was snoring in he's sleep. The red head listened carefully as the Professor began the lesson and the picnic baskets started being handed around. It would be somewhat interesting to her, as when she had been a little girl fairytales had always facinated her even the muggle ones her nanny had told her at times. As Nessie collected her marshmallow, her two graham crackers, and her chocolate bar she listened even more intently to the professor and now some of the students too. Most of the fairytales being mentioned Ness had heard of before. She remembered being a small little girl, when her mother actually tucked her in bed and used to read to her The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Though she remembered too, the nights her nanny used to tuck her in bed and instead of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, her nanny ended up reading Thumbelina and all sorts of other muggle fairytales to her. So all these fairytales were not new to her at all. With a tiny red blush forming on her cheeks, the fourth year raised her hand politely, making sure to hold her hotchocolate in the other. "Professor my favorite fairytale was Thumbelina, when I was a child." She said and then went a little redder. Everyone was admiting their favorite fairytales surely nobody would laugh at hers right? |
Question 2 Gemma stood up as the students were calling out their answers and walked to one of the walls and pulled on a string from the ceiling pulling down a screen. As the students said their favorite fairy tales, she would write with her finger and their answers appeared on the screen. She had them divided up by Muggle and Wizard stories. "These are all great stories...I have to admit that one of my favorite stories is Beauty and the Beast." SPOILER!!: List of Fairy Tales When they were done calling out their favorites she glanced at the board with an approving nod and then turned back to the group. She watched the picnic basket go around the room and with a smile said, "Please make sure you're still passing the basket with the smore supplies for us to use in a few minutes." She walked back to the screen when she felt everyone had read the answers and list and then she tapped lightly on the screen and it cleared. "Now one of the most important parts of a fairy tale is for there to be the good and bad guys." she paused and then turned back towards the students, "These two types of characters are called the antagonists and the protagonists. Now each story can have more than one of each but it is a requirement for each story to have both involved in the story line." She held up her right hand. "The protagonist is usually the main character in the story. It is usually the character or characters in the story that you are routing to win...so the good guys." she said glancing at her hand and then dropping it. Then she held up left hand, "The antagonist is usually the character or characters that are going against the protagonist of the story. They are usually the bad guy or bad guys. These characters are who we want to fall on their faces and learn a lesson from their actions." she said with a nod left and right slightly. "All fairy tales have a protagonist and an antagonist no matter if they are Muggle or Wizard. These characters can be beings, thoughts, animals, beliefs, etc. But in most stories they are actual human beings." she said turning back to the screen and clicking on it three times. This made the screen go black. "Here is a video from an old Muggle movie that shows a good representation of an antagonist vs a protagonist." she tapped on the screen and the video started playing. ~*Link to video: Luke Skywalker vs Darth Vader *~ "That video is from a Muggle Classic series called Star Wars. If you have never seen the movies, I encourage to watch them. They are pretty amazing especially when you consider what years they were made. But back to the lesson..." she said excitedly...Star Wars was a classic and she would love to share it with the students..."In this clip, Luke Skywalker, the one in white is the protagonist because we are pro him and he is the good guy...and Darth Vader, the guy in the black, is the antagonist." she clicked on the board and the pictures of each appeared on the screen. "It is kind of ironic that our protagonist is in white and our antagonist is in black." She reached down and grabbed another basket with sticks in it and walked towards the students, "As we answer the next question, please pass this basket around and everyone grab a stick." "So onto the next question, think about the movies, books, stories, historical stores, etc that you have been exposed to wether they were Muggle or Wizard based and share the name or brief summary of it and who the protagonist and antagonist of the story would be..." she said walking back to the screen and tapping it to clear it and set up a new list for the students. OOC: Okay, the lesson has started so all conversations should be squashed. Do not announce your charrie coming in late or points will be deducted from your house. Feel free to catch up with the lesson at any point by putting Catching Up in the title of your post. Please remember to raise your hand and try not to repeat others’ answers. Remember that Gemma is watching. |
Ella smiled as she read the list of fairy tales. She was very familiar with the Muggle ones but hadn't heard many of the wizarding ones. Perhaps one of her friends who knew more could fill her in on those stories some time. It might be a nice after party to the next pillow fight...that's if the boys weren't too upset with losing and everything. *Shrug* Protagonist and Antagonist. Right. Good vs. Evil was a reoccurring theme in all kinds of books, movies, and even in real life. Like vegetables vs. ice cream. Veggies were clearly the evil party in that match-up and ice cream would kick veggies' butt every time. As for the Star Wars clip, Ella was excited. Her dad was a big Star Wars fan and loved to say Luke, I am your fatherrr in front of the fan in the summer. He said it gave him a better Vader voice...whatever that meant. But anyway...it was a cool clip to choose. You go, Cerulean. Since Ella had already mentioned Peter Pan, she thought she'd just stick with that for her example. "Professor, Peter Pan is about a boy who never grows up and can fly...which is awesome...and he has a group of lost boys who he's friends with and they all go on adventures in Neverland. Peter is the protagonist and the antagonist is Captain Hook, his arch nemesis! Peter cut off Hook's hand in a duel!" Which was flippin awesome. Ella hoped she'd be a good dueler...only she'd use her wand instead of a sword. |
WHEEEEEEEEEE. Star Wars. Theodore loved that, he did. He mouthed the words 'I am your father', then grinned to himself. He was so cool. Good guys... bad guys... Easy peasy. Theodore knew all about this cos he was an epic comic reader. Maybe he should mention that? But he did kinda feel a bit lame about it. Nobody really read comics these days. Apart from his friend, Alec, which was one of the few reasons that made him COOL, might I add. So... comics orrrrr movie? Nah, he'd stick with a movie. "Like... Batman and the Joker?" Good guy and bad guy. Done. "Batman is this big guy with a silly costume and a silly car, who is a really lame superhero." He wouldn't know much cos he hadn't ACTUALLY seen the movie. Because it was stupid. But he had read a few Batman comics. And was not impressed. "But the Joker is coooooool, even though he's a bad guy. I dunno if he wears make up, though. Or if that's just his natural face...." He trailed off. Huh? What was the question? He picked up a stick from the basket as soon as it reached him. |
Oh this sounded like fun and he could pick any book or movie he wanted. Well Nigel did like his comic books and since Batman was already said he might was well use another one. Nigel raised his hand and said "Professor, there is Superman and Lex Luthor. Superman is an alien who loves Earth. He gets super powers like flying, super strength and heat vision from the Sun." But Nigel did like Batman better than Superman. But he was cool expect that he could die from Kryptonite. "And Lex Luthor is a billionaire genius who hates Superman because he is an alien and is jealous of him." Nigel liked Lex Luthor because he was kind of like a evil Batman. Nigel looks down and sees the basket being passed to him. He takes a stick and passes it to the next person. |
Laura was about to say something when she suddenly stopped, if she said that film the Professor would probably put her in detention because it had death in the storyline so well she would have to think of another film, thinking hard she smiled as she raised her hands. "Well there's valkyrie but that complicated as the bad guys are the good guys who want to kill a bad guy who in this film is seen as a good guy but well he's not because he was evil." Laura was confused and stopped there for the Professor to speak |
omg Sal shdv been in this lesson LOL!! SPOILER!!: Prof Gemma Wait that was not a Wizarding photo... this was one of them Muggle movie type things... And what a movie it is! Vickers sat silently, mouth agape at the video that played before them. They had sword type wand things that glowed! Blue eyes barely blinked as they followed the glowing swords as they swung helter skeleter and clashed mightily. And he gasped. "He lost his hand! Their Healers can grow that back right?" he mumbled under his breath. It took him a while to focus back on the lesson but finally was brought back to the present when that basket with the sticks came across him. The Professor was asking another question. Gah focus! Should he go with Wizarding or Muggle stories? Might as well put those research to good use... Up goes the hand again "Professor, there is this Muggle book called The Lord of the Rings, the story is about this Hobbit-- a halfling-- named Frodo, who is the Protagonist of the story, Frodo was was on a mission to destroy this all-powerful Ring which was created by this great evil demigod named Sauron. Sauron is the antogonist, but he wasnt the only one, he had a lot of followers that did his bidding and Frodo had to face them all. He didnt face them alone though, he also had a lot of people that helped him, other supporting characters who are also protagonists of the story." His eyes darted back to the screen. He wanted to see those glowing sword-wands again! |
*squeals at LotR* X3 Louisa fell silent as she watched the clip on the screen. This was something about space, and they were fighting with shiny swords... HECUTHISHAND! She couldn't help but gasp and clasped her hands over her mouth as the antagonist turned out to be the protagonist's father. Snort, wasn't that just convenient. Lastly, the hero threw himself off the pole. D: When the professor started explaining, the Ravenclaw removed her hands from her mouth and nodded along the teacher. Just as she was about to raise her hand the basket of sticks reached her. She fished out one, dropped it in her lap and then raised her hand, "There's Edward Scissorhands, professor, a muggle movie I've read about once, it's fantasy and romance." Shifting in her place so that she could give them the summary about the movie, Louisa started, "The movie starts with an elderly woman describes to her granddaughter where snow comes from, by telling her the story of a young man named Edward, who has scissors for hands, the creation of an inventor. The inventor's final result was a humanlike young boy who had everything except for hands, but the inventor had a heart attack and died while in the act of giving a pair of real hands to Edward, leaving him "unfinished" forever." "The rest of the movie focuses on Edward, who left all his life alone up in the tower, getting involved with the rest of the people from the nearby town. How he interacts with the new environment around him, get to know how people think and act. I'd say the protagonist in the movie is Edward, his pureness even. And the antagonist is the people of the town who eventually refuses the pale young man and banish him back to his tower when he no longer serves their purposes and needs." Louisa swallowed and concluded, "He stayed in his tower for the rest of his life, making ice sculptures of his experience in town, especially the girl he fell in love with. And that is the place where the snow comes from each year, that's what the elderly woman tells her grandchild in the end of the movie." Breeeeeeath. The Prefect fell back on her butt and put on a smile. That was probably the longest answer she'd ever had in her life. And it wasn't even quoted from a book! |
Boring stuff. João knew about those already. So, he half listened to it and half stared somewhere absent-mindedly, and that somewhere happened to be Louisa. He hadn't really noticed he was dreaming while he looked at her pink top. He hadn't really paid attention to who she was, even. But of course, no one would take it so. He had right stared at her for about 30 seconds when she moved and he realised what he had been doing. Flushed a little, he shook his head to himself and changed his sitting position. Luckily the professor asked another question that he could jump on. Raising his hand, he said without even thinking "Green Street, or commonly known as Green Street Hooligans, is a football classic movie," he said somewhat hotly. The movie was... it had changed his mind. Literally. "It's main subject is hooliganism in football, but its message is more about hooliganism in general. The story starts with the American protagonist Matt Buckner being expelled from Harvard because his room-mate and the antagonist Jeremy van Holden hides his cocaine inside his cupboard. Then, Matt decides to escape to London where his big sister is living. She's married to the big brother of my hero in the movie--Pete Dunham. Pete is the head of the West Ham United football team's firm, meaning, the fan group. After every match, they fight. Though their biggest rival is Millwall and--." He halted talking abruptly, looking around to see if anyone had cared to listen to him for so long. It was football, the game Britain had invented and the best game in the world. They should listen to it, because it was in their blood, right? Yeah. "I should stop there or I'll be telling the end." He chuckled. "It's the best movie in its category." So, people, watch it. |
Pay no heed to my prediction at the end...:} Quote:
Batman is NOT lame! Oakey blurted out! Batman is AMAZING, and he has tons more COOLER antagonists than the Joker! Like, BANE, or or Ra's Al Ghul, or Killer Croc, oooor Mr. Freeze and TWO-FACE, oh there was also Deadshot, Clayface, and Poison Ivy! Even Scarecrow and The Riddler! These were all villains ten times as cool as The Joker. Seeing as he now had to go along with his reply to Professor Cerulean's question, and since the Lame-O Batman hater didn't give a proper summery of Batman aka Detective Comics, Oakey would do so... Taking a breather and taking a stick form the basket as it passed it by Oakey rephrased his response. What I mean is that Batman was character in a comic book called Detective Comics, written by Bob Kane in 1939. The Caped Crusader first came to be when his parents were killed by a mugger late one night. He witnessed their deaths and vowed revenge on the criminals of Gotham City his home town Was that a good enough summery. Batman deserved a better response than what wimpy Theodore gave. He has had thousands of antagonist's since his creation as I mentioned before. He glared at Theodore for the gruesome insult he payed to the Dark Knight. |
Quote:
He needed serious locking away. "He is lame. He has a lame costume, a lame car. A LAME NAME." HE WAS JUST LAME. And now he was listing off other villains in the Batman franchise. Theodore stuck his fingers in his ears, and pretended that he wasn't listening. "LALALAaaaaaa, boring." He wasn't an avid reader of Batman, and never would be. So give him a BREAK if he didn't know each villain's full name and address and postcode and, ugh. The first year fake-yawned throughout Oakey's long and boring response to the question. "Marvel comics are better." OHYEA. Spiderman was a real hero. Or Thor. Or Black Widow. Hehehe, Theodore liaaaaaaked her. |
Sorry she couldn't resist...*huggles you both* SPOILER!!: My Superhero Experts Gemma wasn't sure what to do with the superhero and villain battle going on in her classroom. On one hand, she was trying to keep herself from laughing at their passion for their opinions. It reminded her of her little brother. His favorite superhero was Iron Man, but that was before he disappeared so many years ago. She put a little smile on her face remembering him playing with his toy Iron Man and then she focused back in on the two fighting. She decided to just try to squash it nicely. She stepped forward with a smile and held up her hands, "Now boys, we are all allowed to have our own opinions and that means that no one's is wrong....However, since I am the professor in here, that means that whatever I say goes..." she said with a little giggle and a wink at the two boys, "So, that means whichever superhero protagonist and villain antagonist that I choose wins... she said playfully. "And my vote goes for Iron Man and Doomsday..." she said waiting for them to even try to respond but then she figured she'd throw in one more little tid bit, "And yes I realize that one is Marvel and the other is DC, but remember I say which is the best so this should end this argument..." she said the last with a smile but with a little bit harsher tone...not mean but firm...yep she could be feisty and she didn't see a problem with showing her nerdy comic book side. She glanced back at the class with a smile, "So back to our question...Anyone else want to give more examples of an Antagonist and Protagonist from a movie, book, or story?" OOC: Okay, the lesson has started so all conversations should be squashed. Do not announce your charrie coming in late or points will be deducted from your house. Feel free to catch up with the lesson at any point by putting Catching Up in the title of your post. Please remember to raise your hand and try not to repeat others’ answers. Remember that Gemma is watching. |
catch up in here as well & If my sister wasnt frozen she would loved the LOTR in here Sarassi was still pretty down and wasnt in her usual cherry self. But she had managed to pull herself from the Common Room and come to the class. It was a good thing they could wear pajamas cause thats what she was in and what she wanted to be in. Sadly though her sister wasnt there to be in the superman pajamas, she was in her batman pajamas. In almost every photo when they were together in their pajamas, Nerida was in the superman pjs and Sarassi was in her batman pjs. Rasing her hand she said My favorite fairy tale is Cinderella. Sarassi grabbed some materials from the basket just as the Professor sent a reminder out. She passed it on and looked back up at the Professor as she began speaking. As another basket was passed around she grabbed a stick and sent that basket on as well. Wow, wow, did someone just say batman was a lame superhero. Grr whoever that was. Raising her hand she answered In a muggle tv show called Avatar the Last Airbender there is an airbender who is also the avatar-which is a person that can control all four elements- air, water, earth, and fire- he is the main protagonist in the story. And the antagonist is Fire Lord Ozai who has taken over the world basically. There are several protagonist and antagonist in the story but those two are the main ones. She loved that show when she visited her muggle friends they were always watching it. After finishing speaking she pulled her batman blanket over herself some more and looked down at her batman slippers, yeap she was batmaned out. The only thing that was not batman was the pillow she grabbed she had grabbed her sister's and not hers. |

OOOoooooooh if this kid wasn't Mordy's wingman Oakey would hang him upside down the nearest Gargoyle and intimidate him until he said Batman was awesome! Oakey's face grew red as the wimpy Slytherin LaLa'd his proper response to Batman. Pffffffffft! Oakey waved his hand in the direction of Theodore dismissing his ridiculous claim. Any avid comic book reader knew DC Comics were far Superior to Marvel Comics. Green Arrow could out shoot Hawkeye any day. That's right Wimpy just because DC was better didn't mean he didn't know his Marvel heroes. TAKE THAT! Wha...Whaa...What? Professor Cerulean know of The Ultimate? The Creature that killed Superman? NO WAY! This certainly shut Oakey up. At the end of class he would bring up that she forgot to mention how Doomsday would crush Iron Man into tiny pieces in a fight. But it seemed she wanted them to focus on class now. |
Minerva put her hand up. "Professor, A movie that comes to mind is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The turtles were mutated into Ninjas and they ware fighting crime to save earth. The bad guy is Shredder and his gang and the good guys are the turtles and their rat master splinter." She smiled knowing it was an older movie, but it was still a movie. "There has actually been four movies and a tv show with these characters. They also have April who is a new reporter and a good person as well. I like watching all the fighting parts." She put her hand back down and listened to the other students. |
Slight catch up :) Emmanuelle stayed silent during the naming of fairy tales. Not because she didn't like the question, but because she wasn't sure that the story that kept popping into her mind would be considered a fairy tale or not. Aladdin had always seemed like so much more than a fairy tale to her. It had action, adventure, romance... When the basket of s'mores stuffs got to her, she gladly took one of each: graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate. She started assembling it, trying so hard not to just go ahead and eat the whole thing. She had a bad habit of doing that, every since she was a child. And now here was a question she could answer! Using the aforementioned story, Emmanuelle's hand shot into the air and she answered the question. "Well, there's Aladdin. It's about this 'street urchin' here she used air quotes "who is suckered into retrieving a genie's lamp from a cave by an evil dude named Jafar. But he gets the last laugh when genie awakens and grants all of his wishes." Or that was the basics of it, anyway. It had been awhile since she'd seen that movie, so some of the details were fuzzy in her mind. "In this case, Aladdin would be the protagonist and Jafar would be the antagonist." She took a stick once the basket got to her and put on the log beside her. She didn't know how to put the stick in her already assembled s'more since everytime she'd had one, they'd been cooked in the microwave. |
Major Catching up here Alyssa listened as the Professor talked about the books and then she asked for an example about who she would consider an antagonist and a protagonist. Alyssa thought for a moment before raising her hand. "Professor, there's the movie called the Transformers, where the Protagonists is Sam Witwickey and his friends, the Autobots led by Optimus Prime. The Antagonists were the mean and cruel Decepticons led by Megatron." "The Autobots and Decepticons end up on earth and John accidentally gets caught between the two of them. The Autobots want to protect Earth and the Decepticons want to take over it." "The Autobots are soooo cool because they can change into real neat trucks, and motorbikes and there's even a car that's called Bumble Bee." "While the Decepticons like to cheat by changing into things that fly and machines that eat everything in their path. Mean nasty machines they are." Alyssa frowned punching her pillow every time she remembered how they took destroyed Optimus Prime. 'One against 10 of them. That wasn't a fair fight at all'Alyssa thought to herself. |
Catching Up Alex waited for the basket to be passed her way and took a marshmallow, chocolate bar and graham crackers. The other basket soon followed and she reached for a stick. After passing the basket on, Alex raised her hand. "My favorite fairy tale is Little Red Riding Hood", she said. "It is about a little girl who gets tricked by a wolf while she is delivering a basket of goodies to her grandma. She gets the best of the wolf in the end. In that story, Little Red Riding Hood is the protagonist and The Big Bad Wolf is the antagonist." |
Annabelle was happy to see a Star Wars clip. As the basket was being passed around, she took a stick, a marshmallow and all the other necessary ingredients to make a smore. She remembered watching them back at home. Her brother was a huge fan back in the muggle world. Annabelle thought to a book or movie she loved when she was little. Belle raised her hand to answer the question. "Professor for the movie which is based on a book, i used to love and still do is called The Great Mouse Detective. The story is about a little girl named Olivia and her father, who is a toymaker is taken hostage by the most evil criminal mind. It is almost similar to Sherlock Holmes tale. The Protagonist is Basil who was the detective of the story and he is trying to find Olivia's father. The Antagonist is Professor Ratigan. He wants to take over and have all the power. He will not stop at nothing for Basil to get in his way." she smiled and was starting to put her marshmallow on her stick ready to roast it to perfection. |
Caatching uuuup! >.< Wiping the remaining whipped cream on his face, he looked up and listened to his bros, Theo and Oakey. He was confuzzled. What has gotten into Theo and Oakey...and they were “fighting” about which “animal” was better. Batman? What? He forced his attention instead to the professor who was asking about a movie or book which has a protagonist and antagonist. Somehow he didn’t want to cite a wizarding book this time. His thoughts brought him back to the time where he and his friend Chloe watched this movie in a cinema, which by the way scared the hell out of the young pureblood boy, about a demi-god called Percy Jackson. It was a good movie and a thrilling one too. Although, he thought it to be pathetic since he was the real deal compared to those blokes who were on the huge screen. He had real magic flowing in his veins, and that Percy boy was just an actor...acting to have powers of a god. “Professor, how about the movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians? It was about a boy named Percy who was a son of a greek god called Poseidon. He was accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt and if he did not return it the world will be in chaos. At first he was like the antagonist in the movie because he “stole” Zeus’ weapon.” Mordred seriously thought that it would have been easier if those gods had wands instead of lightning bolts. “But then, another boy named Luke came to the picture and in the end it turns out that he was the one who stole the lightning bolt.” Morded put his hand down and sat back and finished his hot chocolate. He was thankful that Chloe forced him to see a muggle movie—at least he doesn’t look like a total idiot in Cerulean’s class. |
Erin listened at the Professor's discussion about Muggle fairytales' protagonists and antagonists. And she caught that confusion of Professor Cerulean about the black and white costumes of the bad guy and good guy respectively on the video she just showed them. In Muggle beliefs, white usually represents the good one and black is the white one. As Erin grew accustomed to the wizarding practice, she had also observed that blacks were the usual colors in this world. Why was it taking the picnic basket so long to reach her place? She wanted one. ...and the question. Erin raised her hand and shared her answer, "There is the famous Muggle movie, Toy Story. It's a series but my favorite is Toy Story 3. The protagonists are Woody, Buzz Light Year and all their other toy friends while the antagonist is Lotso. They are donated by accident to the Sunnyside Daycare. The toys are welcomed by Lotso but sooner they discover that the children mistreat them. Further, they are imprisoned in the daycare by Lotso and his gang." |
Antagonist and Protagonist? Well, that wasn't always a clearly defined line. Growing up, Selina had been told by her parents and aunts and uncles that bad people were not always bad. There was a ray of hope in everyone- no one was born evil, they just had wickedness thrust upon them. And no one could really argue with that fact because, well, then that would mean that evil was innate and that was an awful thought. So the redhead had a hard time really dealing with the question at hand, life wasn't black and white. Why were they being asked to subject characters, even fictional ones, to such hard stereotypes? But the last thing she wanted to deal with was a philosophical debate at the moment. Especially with people who didn't want to listen to the tangent. "Ma'am I suppose my favorite protagonist is Aeneas from Vergil's Aeneid. It's an epic poem written during the height of Augustus' reign of the Roman Empire. It's about the fall of Troy and the survivors founding the eventual Rome. The antagonist is Turnus who believes that he has been slighted by Aeneas coming to Latium and inadvertently stealing his bride. Although, one could argue the real antagonist is Juno who causes all of the trouble for Aeneas and his men." That was shortening it a lot... It was twelve books long. |
Sort of catching up >_< Antagonists and protagonists... hmmm... As soon as she remembered a muggle movie that she happened to watch and love instantly, Nora raised her hand. "The Little Mermaid. About one of the daughters of king Triton, Ariel, who doesn't want to live underwater anymore, and goes to this ugly sea hag, Ursula. In exchange for her feet, Ursula takes Ariel's voice, and makes it almost impossible for her to get a true love's kiss from prince Eric to not turn back into a mermaid. But they live happily ever after, in the end." Which was why she loved it. "The protagonist here would be Ariel, and the antagonist... Ursula." The ugly one who didn't want a happy ending. Hmph. |
Catching Up :) Jory raised his hand to answer the first question. "Professor, my favourite fairy tale is the Wizard of Oz.'' Yup, it definitely was. He had read the book tons of times as well as watched the movie. __________________________________________________ ________________________ Jory stared at the kid who said batman was lame. Was something wrong with him? Batman was definitely not lame. "There's the Marvel movies based on X-Men. There are five movies in the series and protagonists include Wolverine, Professor Xavier and Storm. The antagonists include Magneto, Phoenix and Mystique,'' the badger said. "In all the movies, the superheroes set off to save the world from the douche bags.'' Jory loved all five of the movies but the second and fifth were his favourites. |
catch up >.< In all honesty, Blue had been dozing off. Her tummy was warm with hot chocolate and she was in her pajamas and cuddling her teddy and the fire was making her even warmer. She jumped awake as if someone had dumped a bucket of water on her and rubbed her eyes. What were they talking about...? Oh riiiiight. Good guys and bad guys. And their favourite fairytales. Blue nodded along with Sophie. "My favourite's Repunzal toooooo!" Blue twirled a lock of her around her finger, imagining it fifty times longer and how one day Prince Charming would tug at it to save her. She'd probably tell them to stop PULLING HER HAAAAAIR and to use the stairs and that they were out of luck anyway, she was never gonna marry or fall in love with anyone. "Weeeeeell," the eleven-year-old went thoughtful. "In the story the good guy- uuuh, girl, is Repunzal 'cause she wants to get away and not be locked up and all and the bad person is the woman who stole her away from the king and queen for her selfish reasons!" Yup. Blue wriggled back into a comfy position and took a stick for the basket. Uh...what were they? For eating? The child yawned a huge yawn and blinked slowly, gazing into the fire... |
Pro is good, anta is bad. Simple. Janice took the stick and gave the basket to the next person. She had to resist the urge to stuck her half nibbled marshmallow to the stick and roast it over the fire and eat it since it's so good. Then, she raised her hand to answer the next question. "Well, in the story Wizard of Oz, the protagonists are Dorothy, Dodo the dog, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Glinda the Good. The antagonists are the Wicked Witches of the West and East. Basically, Dorothy, Dodo, Tin man, Scarecrow, and the Lion is going to the Emerald City to ask the Wizard to grant their wishes. They faced some difficulties along the Yellow Brick Road, but in the end everybody got what they wanted." |

The basket of smore making stuff came to him, and Spike wrinkled his nose. Those kind of crackers? Bleh. He favoured biscuits when he made smores. "Er, Professor, do you mind if I just have the marshmallow-y bit?" he asked, biting his lip. "Or the chocolate-y bit? Unless you've got some digestive biscuits?" |
He smiled and thought about his next answer. It was simple. Two words: CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!! He raised his hand and grinned.''Professor, In the movie Captain America.''He smiled.''The Protagonist is Captain America.''So obvious.''And the.''What was the word for the bad guy.''And the bad guy is Red Skull.'' |
Sarah raised her hand "One of my favorite books is a muggle book called 'A little Princess', written by Frances Hodgeson Burnett. In this story, a little girl named Sarah (the protagonist) remains happy in a seminary where another girl named Lavinia (one antagonist) tells on her out of envy to Miss Minchin (another antagonist). Although she was raised as a princess would, and now, after her fathers death being treated as a servant, Sarah always believes she is a princess, seeing the silver lining in every situation." Sarah said, her eyes glittering from excitement. It was such a nice book! |
Catching up Maxwell sat there slightly in awe of star wars being shown in a class. This was officially his favorite class. He frowned a little as it was over and focused on the question at hand. He raised his hand. "Well, honestly professor i would have to use star wars but maybe instead of Luke, Obi-Wan would be my protagonist and Anakin Skywalker my antagonist. Without Ob-Wan things would have fallen apart many times, and because of Anakin they eventually did. But in the end i think Anakin was a little bit of both, the antagonist and protagonist." |
Antagonists and protagonists? Antagonists is the bad guy and protagonists is the good guy, right? When the basket was passed to him, Messer grabbed a stick while thinking about the second question Professor was asking. He put the stick in his left hand and raised his right hand up in the air. "Professor, there's this Muggle movie called Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Sherlock Holmes, a detective who also the protagonists in this movie, accompany by his sidekick Dr. Watsonjoin forces to outwit and bring down their opponent, Professor Moriarty, who is the antagonists character in this movie." he said before lowering his hand. |
*kinda catches up* This was ridiculous. If Milton had have known that he would be surrounded by a bunch of five year olds in animal print pajamas with fluffy blankets and giant teddy bears, he wouldn't have signed up for this class. There was no way these students could possibly be over the age of ten. They were ten year olds in teenage bodies. In fact, he was fairly certain that Professor Cerulean wasn't even human. She was probably a living, breathing teddy bear inside of a human body. When the basket of smorey stuff came his way, Milton just passed it along without taking anything from it. No. Just no. He wasn't even wearing his pajamas. But he did take the opportunity to wear jeans and a simple tshirt. That was comfortable enough for him. Milton just sat back and watched the little film excerpt. Star Wars? Sounded... weird. And the more Milton watched, the more weird it got. They were fighting with neon sticks and the guy in black was breathing funny and--oh dear. The guy lost his hand. He could probably get a healer to fix that. As the scene went on, it just got even more ridiculous. The acting was terrible! "My dead grandmum can act better than that..." I am your father. No... NO... DATS NOT TWUE. DATS IMPOSSABUL. Search your feelings, you KNOW it to be twue. NOOOOOOOoooo! NOOOOooo...! "HA-HA!" Milton laughed suddenly, overcome by a bout of absolute amusement at how horrible that acting was. He snorted and shook his head. "Ah, man," he mumbled with a quiet chuckle. That was good stuff right there. Good as in completely ridiculous, by the way. Ahem. Anyway. Milton listened to the professor continue without laughing anymore. It was hard to control his amused smile, however. He didn't dare speak up though, in fear that he might just giggle. |
Protagonist v. Antagonist. Good v. Evil. Not too hard...depending on which story you pick. Lily decided to pick her favorite fairy tale, even though it wasn't always very easy to choose who was the protagonist and who was the antagonist. "In the Tale of The Three Brothers, The protagonist could be the three brothers and the antagonist, Death... or the protagonist could just be the youngest brother and the antagonist the other two brothers and Death....based on whether you are looking more at the antagonist learning a lesson or just being the bad guy." Yep... Just then, the basket came around and she got her smores supplies... Could they make smores yet? |
ooh. Good versus Evil. Indy knew this. She thought about a book or film to say, one that really showed good vs evil well. Ooh she knew one. With a big smile on her face she lifted her hand. "Well. I heard of this book called the hunger games." It was old, and a muggle movie. "And like they have to go fight to the er...death" nice book it seemed. "In an arena. And anyway. Katniss is the good guy...er girl. Because she wants to stop the games, and let everyone be happy and awesome. And Presidemt Snow is like the bad guy, because he does the game. And tries to kill Katniss, and turn everyone against her. And theres lots of other bad guys too! But Katniss is cool and a very good good guy....er girl?" And then she was done. If that had made any sense at all. |

Gemma glanced around the room as the board filled up with the student's answers. She looked them over and smiled. "These are all great examples!" she said excitedly as she stepped away for everyone to glance over. SPOILER!!: Examples of Protagonists vs. Antagonists "Now that everyone has all of the supplies, go ahead and put your marshmallow on your stick and let it hover over the fire until it gets a golden brown." she said showing them what to do. "Everyone take turns using the fire and then have a seat once your marshmallow is toasted...if you need another marshmallow there are extras in the basket." She turned back to the screen and tapped it three times. It cleared and then went blank. "Now many of you are familiar with fairy tales as they have been told in mainstream. Here is a quick video of all of the fairy tales that we recreated through a Muggle Movie company called Disney." she flicked the screen and short movie played. ~*Click HERE to watch a cool montage of all of the Disney Princesses, that I found on YouTube*~ After the short clip finished playing, she continued, "All of the movies created by Disney and other movie companies put a very whimsical and cheerful spin to fairy tales. All fairy tales had a beginning and not all of them were all goodness and light." she flicked the board and two pictures appeared. "These men are known as the Brothers Grimm. Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm were German brothers who compiled a collection of ancient folk tales known as Grimm's Fairytales in the late 1700s and early 1800s. They were librarians, professors, scholars who studied classical literature, and folklorists. In 1805 Jacob traveled to Paris, France, to conduct research on Roman law and found a German manuscript of old stories." She paused to make sure everyone was sinking in what she was saying, "Jacob vowed to keep the stories alive and decided to embark with his brother on a trip through Germany to collect other folk tales before the tales died out. The Grimms were especially interested in children's stories, which culminated in a book called Kinderhund Hausmarchen, which means Children's Household Tales or Grimm's Fairy Tales. This first publication, in 1812, was so well received that the brothers published several more volumes in 1815. Some of the more famous stories from these collections include "The History of Tom Thumb," "Little Red Riding Hood," "Puss in Boots," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Cinderella," and "The Princess and the Pea." she said reaching over to her shelf and pulling out a copy of the book. It was a huge heavy old book. "Their versions were more lifelike and not so sugar coated as many of the stories we have heard over the years." she paused and watched the student toasting their marshmallows. "So my next question, let's imagine we lived inside a fairy tale and in this fairy tale you met a fish that granted wishes and he gave you two wishes...what would your two wishes be?" she asked...yes this didn't have anything completely to with the Brother's Grimm but she couldn't really ask them a question about the Brothers when many had just be introduced to them. OOC: Feel free to catch up with the lesson at any point by putting Catching Up in the title of your post. Please remember to raise your hand and try not to repeat others’ answers. Remember that Gemma is watching. |
When Cerulean gave the okay, Ella happily placed her marshmallow on her stick and headed towards the fire, motioning for When she returned to her seat, Ella held the stick with the marshmallow between her knees while she placed the chocolate on one of the graham cracker pieces. Then she picked up the stick and rested the marshmallow on top of the chocolate. The second year then sandwiched the marshmallow and chocolate between the two graham crackers until the ooey gooey marshmallow oozed out the sides. YUM! The clip of all the Disney remakes made Ella grin. Her childhood had been filled with these films and stories so she was very familiar with how the stories changed from their originals. Honestly, the second year quite preferred the scarier more realistic tales...even if they did freak her out a bit. There was something quite fun about being scared or freaked out. Hmmm. Two wishes. That was tough. Ella had one in mind, a selfish wish that she desperately wanted to come true. She wanted very badly for her mom to come home from where ever she had gone to. Unfortunately for Ella, that's not what her mother wanted. And besides, she wasn't comfortable sharing that wish with the rest of the class...which meant more thinking about what kind of wishes she would ask the fish to grant. Finally, after lots of thinking and brow furrowing, the second year had come up with her wishes. She raised her hand before sharing her choices. "First, I would wish for an endless supply of gummy worms..." Because of all things she could wish for, gummy worms were the ones that seemed to cheer her up the most when she was down. And maybe when she was older and feeling bummed about growing up, gummy worms would remind her of how it felt to be a kid. "My second wish would be for my family and friends to always be happy." And if her family and friends were happy, that would make Ella incredibly happy too. |
The Ravenclaw sat staring as the second Muggle video started to play. It wasnt quite as awesome as the first one he saw, but those are the Muggle fairy tales he's researched on that someone made He took the stick and pierced then marshmallow, hovering it over the fire just as he heard the Professor launch into the next question. Which got him to blink. Fishes that granted wishes-- he's read about that too, but now they were placed in the position of the Fisherman. There were exactly two things he would wish for, neither of which he wanted to say aloud in front of the entire class. Very personal they were see. He pressed his lips together thoughtfully, what other wishes could he say out loud? A tentative hand goes up "Professor... I woud wish that all the sick--frozen-- people in Hogwarts gets cured..." yes he still thinks its some kind of disease, and a cure means a vaccine or an antidote to keep healthy people like himself from getting down with it "... and I wish Ravenclaw could win the House Cup." he added mumbling. Yeah he said it. Thats his wishes that he's willing to say out loud. |
What!? They weren't supposed to assemble their s'more yet? Whoops! Emmanuelle took her's apart before placing the marshmallow on the end of the stick. Holding the stick over the fire, she watched the film with interest. She had grown up with these movies, so she smiled as she was taken back to her childhood slightly. When the video was over, she checked on her marshmallow. Ooo, she'd left it so long that it was slightly burnt in places! Figuring that it would probably still be okay, she slipped the treat off the stick, placed the chocolate back on the bottom half of graham cracker, put the marshmallow on top of that and finished it off with the top half of cracker before lightly squeezing the sandwich between her fingers until the marshmallow oozed. Deciding that she'd better let it cool a little before taking a bite (even though she really wanted to just bite it already). Blowing on her s'more a little to help cool it, Emmanuelle considered the question. Well, she knew what one of her wishes would be, but there was no way she was going to say it out loud. It was too embarrassing! So, a second, safer wish. One that wouldn't make her sound completely childish or like a overly concerned classmate. Or shallow. "I'd wish for no more homework!" she chirped, managing to achieve what she had been trying so hard not to do and sounding completely childish. *facepalm* |
Alyssa thought for awhile. 'Hmmm....Now if I had 2 wishes what would it be? I don't need money. I could say world peace but then I would end up sounding like that Beauty Queen Ms. Universe. I could ask for more friends but that would sound pathetic. 'Alyssa thought to herself as she yawned. She listened as the others gave their answers trying to stay awake as much as possible. Alyssa yawned again as she raised her hand to answer. "Professor I guess if I had 2 wishes, I would wish that all classes were like Muggle Studies. Fun with lots and lots of candy and soda and popcorn. Professor Lafay could teach us how to make a Cotton Candy potion." Alyssa grinned. "And then my second wish would be for another 10 more wishes for me and everybody in this room." Alyssa giggled. The sugar was definitely getting to her. She knew that she was acting silly but didn't care. |
Penelope just kind of listened and didn't participate much as the lesson began. Her attention was focused a little more on the baskets being passed around, especially the food ones. So when it was her turn to go up and toast the marshmallow, she got up quickly, shoving the marshmallow on the end of her stick, then held it over the fire until it was all nice and toasty. As she went back to her seat, she heard the professor's next question and decided it was something she could answer. And she answered with the first thing that came to mind. "I'd wish my mum and dad were alive so I could live with them instead of my stupid grandparents." ...Hm. That probably wasn't something she would've shared if she thought about it. Bit personal, it was. Did it count as two wishes? Maybe no one heard her. So she added, "And I'd wish all the frozen people to be unfrozen." |
Annabelle was making her first smore. Her first marshmallow was already golden brown. She got the first graham cracker ready with the little piece of chocolate set. Then she squeezed the warm and soft and mushy marshmallow between the two crackers. It smelt so good, she couldn't wait to eat it. When the chocolate melted, she ate it and enjoyed it, YUMMY! Then as she was putting her second marshmallow on her stick , she saw the Disney princess clip. It was adorable to see all the princesses sing their songs and be all innocent. Then she heard about the Brother's Grimm Tale and knew those were the bloody and gruesome type of fairy tales. She knew about the Red Riding Hood tale and how it ended. It was nice to know where the fairy tales originated from. She also would love to see another clip. Then she heard the Professor's question about two wishes. Belle kept thinking what her two wishes should be. She knew her family needed a little bit more money, "Professor i think my two wishes would be to have more money since my family is in need of it, and my second wish i could travel back in time and reflect back on my childhood." She really wanted to flash back to her first year and see what it was like for a while. She also wanted to relive all the good memories with her family and all the cool muggle trips she went on. |
Alex was soooo ready to make her s'more. She was just waiting for the Professor to say the word. When she did, Alex put her marshmallow onto her stick and headed for the fire. She roasted her marshmallow not until it was golden, but until it was crispy and black. For some reason, she loved them burned. Returning to her seat, Alex readied her graham crackers and chocolate. Then she put her crunchy marshmallow between them. Yummmmm! While enjoying her treat, Alex watched the Disney video. It reminded her of home and all the muggle movies she had watched when she was younger. She loved "Mulan" and "The Princess and the Frog" best of all. Then Alex was snapped out of her s'more and Disney daze when the Professor asked a question. Two wishes, that was a hard one. Alex thought about what she would really want....something that she wasn't too embarrassed to share with the class. Raising her hand she said, "I would wish for all my family to be witches and wizards like me aaaaand to have all the books I could ever want". She hoped that didn't sound too selfish or too silly. |
