The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.

"Thanks!" Avery beamed taking the cookies.
"I would love to hand out this year! Oh, and i like to go up to the Astronomy tower and stargaze. I'm an awful cook and I am super clumsy." She frowned remembering all the times she tripped on the stairs here.
"What's your sister like?" She inquired.

"Yes, he is my uncle!" Avery told her happily.
"Thanks for the cookies again too!" Avery said through a mouthful of yummy food.
"We must have alot to do this summer!" She said.
He couldn't be serious. She wasn't CUTE! Not at all. The blond frowned, eyeing him. "I'm. Not. Cute. Charlie Quinten, you cut that out RIGHT NOW." Glare. She slapped him lightly on the shoulder. Though, she didn't so much mind the dorky part. At least that was accurate. "Good. Do I get a ribbon or a trophy or something for that?" She grinned. Just.. another trophy to add to her collections. She'd like that.
Brooke popped the last pit of bread into her mouth before shrugging. Her eyes drifted from Charlie to his rather large plate of food before turning back on him. "Seems like something they'd say to you." she commented with a smirk. "Though, i guess you're right. You might as well take my share. It.. Shouldn't go to waste."
Charlie laughed, and rubbed the spot where she hit him, pretending it hurt even though it didn't. "Fine, fine, whatever you say." He said, then holding up his hands in surrender. Just because she doesn't think she is cute, doesn't mean she isn't. "No, the trophy is your face. Everyone can already see how dorky it is, so there isn't a need for a ribbon or any of that." He stuck his tongue out at her.
"Why aren't you eating?" He asked casually, finishing up what was on his plate. He was actually beginning to get full.
Emmaline sat alone at a spot at the Gryffindor Table, reading quietly. She'd only eaten a bit of food but she wasn't hungry anymore. She wanted to learn more on the subjects they'd be learning this year. After all, O.W.L.s were just around the corner and she didn't want to be caught unprepared.

It turned out to be a good thing Gideon was paying atttention to the scene slightly down the table. Tate might not have mentioned his name after talking with Kurumi and Paulie but the look directed his way as well made him certain the words after were meant for him as well. Force of habit he stood in case there was something immediate that needed to be done, his hand slipping from Selina's but then simply listened. "Aye Headmaster," he replied, adding a nod of his head to show affirmation of his understanding. The sixth year would do his part to make sure the house-elf returned to the kitchens.
SPOILER!!: Kurumi

When the Headmaster left for the staff table, Kurumi took that as a cue to alert the rest of the table that they ought to start settling down.
"E-E-Everyone! If you could please return to your seats and your respective tables as soon as possible, please," she called out. "The Headmaster will be giving his speech soon." And everyone ought to be paying attention to this. Yep.

Although...her mother had always told her that her hands were too harsh when it came to fan dances. Something Kurumi never managed to get right...
But thoughts about her mother were almost forgotten when the little elf was HUGGING her! If Kurumi had been capable of doing so, there would have been sparkly starts and hearts floating around her head right now. Toddles was hugging her! BEST.FEAST.EVER!
Well, that wasn't entirely true. There were a few things that could make this feast better. August still being at Hogwarts being one. The confusion about Lewis and Jonathan not being there was another. Yes, there were a few things, but it was still AMAZING that the little house elf was hugging her.
"I'll be seeing you soon, Toddles," Kurumi smiled as the little guy dance off and poofed.
"It really is," Kurumi nodded. "He was only named recently." Or, she thought it was recently at least. She was a little fuzzy on the timing of it all to be honest.
Kurumi was about to ask Jezz something else, probably about the strawberry cookie dough ice cream, when she heard the Headmaster begin his speech. All the Gryffindors had heard her announcement, right? They were ALL paying attention?
Blink blink.
Wait...that was it? What about telling them not to die? And constant vigilance? Had the Headmaster forgotten to include those in his speech? He had last term, right? Kurumi really couldn't recall at the moment, but she had nearly been eaten twice by two different magical creatures so a small reminder about not dying would have been appreciated.
Kurumi scanned the staff table again, frowning a bit to herself at not seeing Professor Schirmer present. She had been a bit sad when she had gone to deliver her colorful macaroons earlier, but now it really sunk in that she wasn't there. Come to think of it...neither was Professor Roslund. He was probably still chasing after her, hence why he wasn't teaching either. Kurumi wrinkled her nose for a moment at the memories of him using students to deliver love letters to the Charms professor. It had been so....weird. Sort of creepy in Kurumi's mind as well.
Food soon filled the table, but Kurumi's eyes were on one thing and ONE thing only: pumpkin juice.
FINALLY!
Grabbing a goblet full of the liquid, Kurumi raised her glass to all those at the table. "Here's to an excellent term lions!"
Gideon had caught his fellow prefect's gaze as she took agreed to the man's instructions. Listening to Kurumi as spoke up, telling both the Gryffindors and other houses to return to their seats, he passed his gaze over the long table to see who obeyed and who didn't to see if any needed anymore prodding. The height from his standing position allowing him a better view.
However when it appeared all had listened, the prefect sat back down himself to listen to the speech and prepare for the actually feasting. Orb...creatures from forest...not to different from the closing feast though it was a relief that the magical animals had calmed down a bit. And then the dinner appeared and Gideon joined his house-mates in enjoying the first morsels.

The male prefect had no clue as to the younger lion's plans else he might have backed down on his agreeing to allow photos. It was bad enough there existed blackmail photos of him dressed up from his years before school. Or even the hat from two summers before. Gideon nodded at the question. "Aye it was," he answered seeing as it had started out that way. For Violet and CJ both if he remembered correctly, one of the few things he could take in his memories without a twinge of regret or confusion.
SPOILER!!: Christopher

Offering up a rather tired smile, he greeted his roommate, and friend, Gideon. "Well, despite what last term might've suggested, I am back for the remainder of this year and presumably the next." Glancing over, he noticed a shiny badge in the corner of his eye on his friend's robes. "Congratulations on prefect," he mused, a tad confused though. It seemed Adam had gone. Perhaps back to Mexico, or maybe he just had to leave as Christopher himself had last term. Either way, he was glad to see that Gideon was to take the role of prefect in his place.
As the headmaster finished his speech that Christopher wasn't really listening to, he thought he heard something strange. His name. It was a very familiar voice too, one he recognized instantly. He also knew that at the sound of this voice, there would be a reaction to his return that wouldn't be so pleasant.
Sitting up straighter, he looked around slowly, wondering if perhaps the source of the sound was truly there, or if he had just been hearing things. However, as he turned a little to the left, fiery red hair caught his eye, and a very shocked face came along with it.
Selina.
She was sitting a few seats over, just staring in shock. It must've been quite a surprise to see him, he would admit, but he knew her next move would probably be an explosion of anger. It was Selina after all, and she was very hotheaded. Especially when you disappear for a few months without telling her and then suddenly come back. That could make anyone upset, let alone Selina. Offering a weak smile, he waved, mentally bracing himself for the not-so-welcome-back that was to come.
"Well that is good to hear," he replied with a brighter smile. he had to admit he missed the other boy even if they had virtually ignored each other for the first three years together in the same dorm. "Especially when I need a friend to help against Selina," he added with a chuckle.
When he noticed Christopher take note of his badge, the prefect waited for a response. The boy hoping it wasn't like Kurumi had been at the reveal in the prefect's compartment. Gideon knew unlike the girls, Chris and Adam had been close...best friends close and Adam's disappearance would no doubt have more of an effect on him.
SPOILER!!: Selina

The little blonde Irish kid did not even know it, but he had just given her some prime material for the upcoming term. The prefect boy was going to rue the day he allowed someone to call him Mr. because Selina was not going to let him forget it.
Gideon's comment about righting up the rule breaker finally made Selina erupt with a laugh. She had been holding it in their entire poker faced match and that comment had pushed her over the edge. In her head, she could just see Gideon going to Bentley and telling her that Selina needed detention for yelling. What an awkward scene that would be because it was common knowledge that Selina and Gideon were dating. Although, she internally really wanted him to write her up to just see what Bentley would do when handed the sip. She would pay five galleons to see that.
But her laugh stopped short when Gideon threatened potions detention. It was not funny anymore and her mouth hung open in shock, "You would not DARE put me through the torture.... would you?" Oh Merlin, it was like a nightmare. It was not that she did not like Lafay except that fact that Lafay terrified Selina, it was just that she hated potions. It was nothing to be bashful about... it was the truth.
She did not have time to comment about it when she was flown forward toward Gideon, but she stopped herself. The Great Hall was no place for romantic canoodling even if Selina wanted to. She was a mature fifth year hardly and she was going to show the younger students how to behave... kind of... maybe screaming was not good role model behavior.
Gideon cleared up all of her confusion with Anya though when he explained about the hand holding lost concept. She blushed and looked down at the ground not wanting to meet his gaze, "Well it is logical and all... perhaps you should try not to lose me more often." Because she liked the handholding thing.
Or Selina's plans to take Tag's chosen name for him to heart and torment him for the term with it for that matter. Though it certainly wasn't the worst nickname she had used against him, Giddy and Gertie two of the names that topped the list of those.
Thankfully Selina's laughter broke the act of calm innocence between them as they tried to outtease each other. Gideon had known one of them would eventually do so and inwardly smirked at the fact that he had succeeded in getting her to be the one to give up.
It was his term to laugh as she stopped short in reaction to the potion's detention. "Hmmm...let me think..." he mused for a few moments to delay the suspense before finally shaking his head. "Nae...of course not." He'd never hear the end of it and she'd suffer far more then any detention deserved to be. Gideon raised a slight eyebrow as Selina commented on the handholding. Was she saying what he thought she was saying...giving him permission to do it more often?
He'd have to test it out then...over time. For now...it seemed Christopher had gotten her attention just as it had just moments before his. And knowing her relationship with him, their catching up was more important.

Ronnie laughed. "True!" she said. "Oh. So much has been going on." she said, shaking her head. "It's rather crazy." she said. "So, once I moved back from France to my brother Rupert's place, my brother said he didn't have much room with him. So, I was sent back to France to live with my parents...but they didn't want me because of...well...I don't get along well with my parents. We fight a lot and...they're just mean. So I was put up for adoption, and this guy adopted me. So now I live with him and his son, Danny." she said.
Emmaline set aside her book and glanced around the table. Friends. She needed to make some, but she'd always had trouble making them.
Pyrsephonie decided to wander around and ended up at the Gryffindor table. She saw a girl sitting by herself. The girl seemed kind of nervous, so Pyrsephonie went over and introduced herself. "Hello," she said, smiling kindly. "I'm Pyrsephonie!"

Ronnie finally finished her second plate of food. She could not eat anymore, she was stuffed! She looked up and down the table at everyone eating and chatting, wondering how much longer the feast would be. All the excitement of the day was making her very sleepy, all she wanted to do was just curl up in her bed in the dorm and sleeeeeep.

All of the sudden she was serious and thinking about strategy for Quidditch.
Her blue eyes flicked up to Kurumi when she said, "Do you really think that could help? The bulky clothes thing I mean? The agility factor could definitely make us more of a threat... Yeah.. hold on... I have to right that down." Now Selina was in Quidditch mode good job Kurumi.
Aha! See! Kurumi knew she was on to something and she couldn't help but grin as her best friend began to put the pieces together. THAT would be a practice, or try out, that Kurumi would be sure to attend with her camera so she could take lots of pictures for the yearbook.
"It's worth a shot, no?" she asked with a playful giggle. "I mean, you could always compare it to playing in the rain, you know, water weight weighing you down because of soaked uniforms. Plus, I think it could help people be more alert and aware of their own body's reflexes, not to mention increase strength." There was a lot that could be said about this. Kurumi herself had had to wear weights once while training for kendo and it had made her stronger and faster in the end.

"How much longer will we sit here?" She was hoping it wouldn't be much longer she had something she needed to check on but she couldn't really remember what it was exactly. Something fluffy. She took another sip of her tea and stifled another yawn. She may be getting older, but she was still a little lion, one who needed sleep.

Kurumi sipped on her pumpkin juice and shoved a plate of chicken towards Jezz. "Not too much longer I imagine. Eat up first."

"My name's Avery. How are you?" She managed to choke out. Then she held out her short arm to shake the prefects hand.
"Nice to meet you Avery," Kurumi said, returning the girl's smile. "I am doing quite well, thank you. Very excited for another year at Hogwarts...and to finally be able to have some pumpkin juice." Truth, Kurumi still hadn't actually had another to eat besides a few bites of lasanga. Pumpkin juice was just so...delicious!
The buzz in the Great Hall hadn't softened much, but it was becoming clear that it was getting to be about that time. Taking one last gulp of her remaining pumpkin juice, Kurumi gave Gideon and Paulie one of those looks that meant that they ought to start heading back to the Gryffindor common room...and showing the first years and new students how to do so.
"First years and new students, if you could please follow myself, Paulie, and Gideon we can show you how to get to the common room. Returning students, you know what to do," she announced, flicking her wand so that the remaining dancing cookies returned to the box on the table. Kurumi scooped it up, took one last look at the Hufflepuff and Slytherin table, and then began to make her way out of the Great Hall.
Here goes nothing...
OOC: just to clarify you CAN still RP in this thread! Also, if you are a new student or a first year, you can RP following your prefects whenever you want or not. There won't literally be a tour through the castle to the common room

Penelope raised an eyebrow slightly when he said it was nice to meet her. Was it really? It made Zeke let out a chuckle once and shook his head, she definitely reminded him of the old Zeke, the real Zeke. Especially during the end of the term feast. This new 'be nicer this term' attitude was not as good as he hoped it would be. Oh well, he found it best to leave her alone. She was stuffing herself with the cookies anyway.
Like him. Mehehe, he grabbed another one and ate it. Then turned back to speaking with the others.
And then the Zeke guy was chuckling. Why? Was he laughing at her? She was pretty sure she hadn't done anything worth laughing at. So Penelope simply eyed him for a few moments before turning her attention elsewhere.

As the girl swallowed her cookies she questioned if Selina had anymore cookies. With a chuckle Selina replied, "Yeah... they are over there by the Gryffindor female prefect. Good general rule, if you are ever hungry you find her," she said pointing out Kurumi, "she always has food on her... usually cookies."
Then she smiled and offered her hand, "I'm Selina, you are?"
There WERE more cookies?
Penelope's eyes followed to where the girl was pointing. Ohh, so Kurumi was the one with the cookies. And the one who always had food?
Penelope found yet another favorite person, and it was only her first day at Hogwarts. This was going quite well. Hopefully lots of other students carried food around with them too. It'd be amazing.
Selina, hm? And more hand shaking. "Penelope," the little Gryffindor replied, giving Selina a brief, firm handshake.
....
And then not too much later, what she assumed was the speech was given and-
FOOD APPEARED.
FINALLY.
Penelope had instantly begun piling everything she could reach onto her plate and started scarfing it down once her plate was full. Once she'd finished that, she went a second round, a third round, and on the fourth she felt she was finally getting full. After completing the fourth round, she plopped her fork down on her now very empty plate with a small tink! and let out a very content, relieved sigh.

Now that Penelope's belly was full, she was ready to sleep. She would've been fine just falling asleep here in the Great Hall - since it was where all the food was - but apparently, according to Kurumi, they had to go to some place called the common room. Hopefully it wasn't too far.
She hopped up off her seat and followed the perfect the prefect.

Reason: No rping for House Ghosts, there are accounts for these and they will appear when needed. ;)
The newly sorted Gryffindor had taken a bite of sushi when it was time to follow the prefect, Kurumi. Narumi had fun talking to Kurumi at the train, it was fun and she really happy that they would be in the same house! Oh, and she couldnt wait to meet the other Gryffindors!!
The boy crossed his arms and placed it on the table. Mordred let out an exasperated sigh. He simply nodded at Zeke and continued to contemplate on the plate. Those blasted memories he had at Durmstrang should be kept in a Pandora’s box never to be opened again. The palace, his uniform—the compulsory shaving of the head, his cousins. Everything about that bloody school and its students made his blood seethe. “You are your own man in that school. No friends, just you and your studies, and your reputation.” He said as his jaws clenched hard. He had no problems with his studies. His academic expectations of the school did not fail him—but the people that ran it were enough for him to become pure evil. During his stay, he did nothing but practice his skill as a wizard and prove to everybody that he deserves the name Mordaunt.
Now he sees why his parents did not want him to go there, even if his father was a proud son of that school. Aldrich Mordaunt became a whole new man when he met Catherine, Mordred’s mother. It was then that Aldrich realized that Hogwarts was the best school for his son. They have been fighting the stereotypical people who brand their family as a group of dark wizards. Getting sorted to Slytherin did not help the young Mordred, but he was brought up to be a level-headed, decent young man. All thanks to his parents, and to Hogwarts.
“That someone must be really special.” He smirked at his comment. Heck, he transferred schools because his Father needed to be up north to be cured. Transferring was hard anyway, leaving everybody you know without any assurance that you’ll see them again. “You’ll enjoy the rest of your stay here in Hogwarts…I mean…” he trailed off as he pointed at Zeke then to himself, as if to say that they have both witnessed how much better this school was.
Then from the corner of his eye, he saw the Headmaster FINALLY standing on the dais. “About time.” He said as he tapped the table and gestured his head toward the man. “Hungry boys over here, Tate.”
“Creatures coming out of the Forbidden Forest?” a smile was on the boy’s face. “Cool, instant practicals.” He said to Zeke. They do that a lot at Durmstrang, right? The rest of the Headmaster’s speech became gibberish to Mordred as he stared at the plate. Any moment now.
…
FOOD!
He understood what Mordred meant. Zeke had lived those two years only for himself, not bothering to speak at all to anyone unless required of him. It was one of the stuff that resulted to the arrogant Zeke who didn't really care much for anyone at all. "Yeah, it's pretty tough over there," but he didn't regret it. It made him strong and learn the reality that it's every man for himself. He grew up believing and living that motto. Durmstrang has made a different person out of him. It had a different effect to him, unlike Mordred. Zeke just assumed that the Slyth had real awful memories at Durmstrang considering the tone Mordred spoke of it and the obvious signs of..hatred, maybe? He couldn't blame the guy, if Zeke hadn't been emotionally uncaring even before going in Durmstrang, he would've found it hard to continue being there.
Yes. She was. He could feel his stone heart beginning to crumble just by the reference of her. Trying to keep a composed face, he half-smiled and nodded. "Mmhmm," Zeke simply said. Janine. No, Jane. If only she were here, she'd be enjoying Hogwarts with him now. Like their promise.
Zeke tried to keep up with what was happening, but was a bit distracted. He pretended to be following on what he was saying by just giving him half-smiles and half-hearted grins when he felt like he needed to. 'Really sorry, Mordred. It was nice meeting you and you seem like an awesome guy. We could've even be really good friends. I just don't feel like talking much now,' he thought to himself as he tried to find an excuse out of the conversation. Zeke needed some alone time. To focus, or to distract himself out of thinking of those childhood memories that keep haunting him.
Ah! Just the perfect distraction he needed. Food to the rescue. "Dig in, hungry guy," he teased and began to gather all the food he liked on his plate. When he was done, he went out for seconds. And thirds. And he ate until he was full and satisfied.
Done. He had that smile on his face as he leaned back and waited for Kurumi to pour him some pumpkin juice which she had offered him earlier. But the prefect seemed to be distracted as she was pouring the juice on to his goblet, was it because of that Hufflepuff guy that just left? He watched as the glass was filled to the brim. Zeke expected her to stop, but she still had that spaced out look on her face. The pitcher continued to pour pumpkin juice on the goblet, until some began to spill on the table as it had nowhere else to go. He knew he should probably stand up now to avoid the mess but he was still staring at the prefect, still expecting her to snap out of it.
The spilled juice was going for him. And nearer. And...it was now dripping on his robes. He quickly stood up, jaw hanging open. WHAT?!

In fact, her eyes were just sort of glazed over as if deep in thought about something. Only she wasn't thinking about anything at all.
Her eyes refocused and the muscles in her arms suddenly relaxed, but it was too late. Pumpkin juice was now all over the table and trickling in every which direction. "Oh my stars! I-I-I'm so sorry!" she squeaked, immediately setting the filled to the brim of pumpkin juice goblet on the table and removing her wand. "D-Did any of it get on your robes?"
......
Zeke was just about to get his first taste of a pumpkin juice. But he didn't expect it to turn out like this. He literally bathed in it. It was a good thing there wasn't too much.
His jaw slightly dropped open since he didn't know how to react at all, he shook out of it and replied, "What? Oh! Uhm." Looking at the drenched garment that he realized was his robe, he tried to act like it was just a minor thing that happened. He took out his handkerchief to attempt and dry himself which looked pathetic. He could've just taken off his robes. It was only the part near his lap downward that was affected. "It's okay, chill. It's just a little...wet."
Or a little too much wet. From then on, he knew he would remember this day forward whenever he'd think, see, hear, and drink pumpkin juice. Not that he'd even think of drinking it anymore. He was done eating, he just needed something to drink. All he had was his goblet filled with that wonderful juice. So while still standing, he reached out for the cup and gulped it down. Anyway, it was almost time to get to the common rooms.

Gideon had finished up the dinner he had added to his plate when he figured it was getting late and time to head up. He knew from seeing it happen around him that prefects were supposed to lead the first years and transfers but seeing as he couldn't remember his own, he wasn't sure if there was a certain time or a signal to wait for. Glancing down the table at Kurumi, he watched for when she might make a move ready to follow her lead since she had the experience over him. But rather then see her move he caught her look, taking that as signal enough, the prefect rising to his own feet.
"Aye...ye heard Kurumi and if ye didn't, first years and those unfamiliar with the school follow the three of us," Gideon reiterated in case not everyone heard his fellow prefect. He looked to Tag and Penelope, the two first years he had been speaking with making sure both followed though the girl was already ahead of him going after Kurumi. Any others he hadn't met, he motioned them towards him before turning and heading out of the Great Hall himself and heading up to the Gryffindor Common Room.

Haley sits down at the table excited to be back at Hogwarts. She is also extremely hungry but is just sitting around watching everyone talk. She watches some of the scared first years and remembers when she use to be just like them but now she is a fifth year. "Time sure does fly..." she mumbled this under her breath and frowned a bit.
