Book Club Meeting One

An area in the middle of the library has been cleared of bookshelves and other equipment to make room for a big round circle of bean bags in all colours of the rainbow. One bean bag which is bigger than the others and bright orange is Mr Kitridge, the schools librarian sitting on with a small note book in his lap. For the afternoon meeting he is dressed in dark red robes.

In the middle of the circle of bean bags there is a stack of writing cards and a giant sized bowl full of candy. The candy has only been brought to the meeting because Mr Kitridge wants to give everyone a treat. Any food or drink found in the library at other hours/occasions will be thrown out and the student/s will be punished.

Go ahead and take a seat on a bean bag of your choosing and help yourself to a candy treat as you make yourself a name card while you wait for the meeting to start!

OCC: The meeting will begin in around 7 pm GMT tuesday night (May 8th). Don’t forget to bring your favourite childhood book! Keep chatting to a minimum! If you haven’t then please take time to familiarize yourself with the rules for the library.

Of course had he been paying more attention on the Professor's instructions that they form groups of two or threes he would've thought twice about asking to join this group who already had three people. "Uhm, maybe we can ask Mr Kirtridge if we can keep this group, since we're not sure what exactly he would want us to do anyway." The Librarian mentioned a reenactment, of what he didnt say, "If not, maybe we can split off into twos?"

And name their team? The Ravenclaw's brows furrowed slightly. He's never named any team he's been in, at least not to his recollection "Uhm, I dunno, maybe we'll take a name when we know what we're supposed to do?" If they were going to re-enact anything, maybe they can name themselves after the title of the story.

As she said this she saw her sister and friend Narumi sneak into the book club, she smiled at her sister, ha she had never been late for anything, why did it start now??

Also reading is something that can be done in your own time and you don;t need to 'waste' someone elses. You can't really play quidditch by yourself, but you can read. You actually went up on stage and.. acted in front of an audience?" That sure was great. Especially for Ira, seeing that she had stage fright.

Ira grinned and giggled. "Ooh! We're the best realistic acting team!! Yayy!!" Ira exclaimed in a playful way.

Yes... well... it was clear that she hadn't been paying attention.
And in a way, she felt a little defeated. Why were they acting when they could be reading? or discussing reading? or discussing a book? why act?

"Well then at least we have some hope," she mused, listening to her team mates.

Turning to see where the librarian dude was at, Seren was feeling a little impatient, and still confused about the whole acting thing.

"Hey...LeoBALD!" she called out, somehow unintentionally emphasising bald. Hehe.
"What's the go? This a drama club or something? We getting the show on the road?"

His face riddled with disbelief, anger and well queasiness even if it wasn't actually visible Leobald just stared at his former housemate. Seren had chosen the worst possible moment to announce that she remembered him. Purrfecccccccct, at least she hadn't called him BALDIE like William had done at the opening feast. But she did make him move things along.

Trying to gather his thoughts Leo took deep breaths. Glancing over the many bean bags that now looked more like groups than individual students he tried to keep his voice steady as he spoke over the chatter. "I hope everyone by now have found themselves a group, if not then come up front and I will help you find a group." Hiccupping, he felt sour water in his mouth.

Swallowing it Leo continued "I assume you’re wondering where acting or drama comes in since this is a book club? Well you are all well versed readers which we've seen proof off with your favourite books selections. So I thought it'd be fun to re-enact a scene from one of the Beadle the bard tales or Disney classics like Snow White or similar to the rest of the club members."

"Each group chooses a tale or classic and a scene from it and re-enacts the scene in front of everyone else with each group member playing a role. The scene/performance doesn't need to be long at all just a few minutes."

Occ: Don't go overboard...Have fun! Choose a scene from either of the choices given, practice for a few posts (4 posts max) and then your performance shouldn't be longer either. So one performance post each if you are in a group of 4 etc.

Minerva thought for a few moments. "Okay let's wait and see what we are doing before naming." she smiled at Vickers but got the hint he didn't like the whole naming thing. She turned to wait on what they were going to do in the group. Not sure why a book club would be acting, but it seemed fun so why not.

Minerva got a big smile on her face this did sound like fun. She turned to the rest of the group. "So what should we do? Do you want to do a wizard or muggle tale? she thought for a bit, she didn't know any wizard tales really. Just the ones they talked about in classes. Then her mind went through muggle tales Well classics could be Snow White, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Cat in the hat, well I guess I could ramble more out if we needed, but what does everyone else think?" she knew she was taking charge to much and with a professor working with them she didn't want to be the only one talking.

Ella thought that was quite cool, having a mystical name. And it meant sea nymph? Awesome. As for Nerida wishing her a happy belated birthday, Ella smiled and her cheeks turned slightly pink. "T-thanks. It's no big deal really." Honestly, they could drop the subject now. The second year smiled when Nerida said life at Hogwarts would be boring without the firsties. Ella totally agreed, especially since she had only just become a second year and hoped she had made Hogwarts a little more fun during her first term.

When Mr. Librarian began to speak, Ella felt herself growing kind of nervous. So they were to get started then, yeah? AND then they would have to perform...in front of their classmates and the professors. GULP. Turning to her groupmates, Ella tried not to show how nervous she was suddenly feeling. "So, what would you guys like to do? Should we do a scene or a classic?" Personally, Ella wouldn't mind doing a classic as she had grew up on Muggle Disney films.

Vickers turned when the Librarian announced what they were going to do, and it seemed like he didnt have any problems with their group being a 4-man team. But when the other man mentioned which stories they can base their little skit on, the Ravenclaw couldnt help but smile "Well... guess what I brought today..." he said as he showed his book, Tales of Beadle the Bard. Quite fortunate indeed.

And speaking of fortunes "Do you want to do a skit based on one of these stories? Theres four of us-- 3 ladies--" he nodded his head towards them politely "...and me." the dude heh. So would you ladies want to re-enact a scene from the Fountain of Fair Fortune?" it was kind of the perfect fit given their ensemble.

Then he turned to listen to Minerva's suggestions. They were Muggle fairytales he knew that much by their title "Or we could do that... I'm just not very familiar with some of them-- uh I heard about Snow White-- thats the one with the Witch making a poison apple right? "

Oh, dear. They were going to re-enact a scene from a story? Well, given Nora's knowledge about muggle stories... ugh, not a good thing. But she knew they'd do well.

Trying not to giggle at professor Bentley's 'Leobald', she turned to her two partners in crime with a slightly worried look on her face. Yes, she was all of a sudden nervous about it. "Do you guys have any suggestions?"

Minerva blushed a bit, she didn't know if all of them would know muggle tales or not and since that's what she knew she went with it. Sometimes she even forgot others didn't know the world she was raised in. "You know what Vickers that story sounds fun. I have never heard of it, but if you let me see your book I could have it skimmed over enough to be able to do this activity." She reached out for the book hoping he wouldn't mind. "While I scan over it, does everyone else feel it's a good one to do?"

Sierra listened as the scene they'd act out was revealed. She should have figured it was something straight from a book. And just like she'd thought, libraries were places for reading and drama.

"Well, that doesn't sound too bad," Sierra said, turning to her group members. Well, if they stuck with Beedle the Bard, that is. "Err..., I'm a Pureblood, and I've never really read or heard any Disney tales." So in other words, let's go with The Tales of Beedle the Bard, please. "Is Beedle the Bard okay? We could probably each take a brother from The Tale of the Three Brothers."

...and if they did, she wanted to be the one who lived in the end.

Alyssa actually was excited when she heard that they had to re-enact something. Then Vickers came up with a great idea. Re-enacting the story of the Fountain of Fair Fortune was a great idea.

"That's a great idea. I'm willing to do it." Alyssa said.

THEY ARE ACTING???? THEY are acting???

Jonathan had a shock expression seen through his eyes, it's not that he was against the idea. Not at all, not even a little bit. BUT he is not a good actor, or thinks of himself as an actor with all the acting of the scenes and what not. It was just not him....

SIIIGH.

Perhaps it is too late to back out now? The librarian made it simple and clear, they have to act out a certain scene in one of the tales and muggle tales they come to know of. Sierra was the first one to raise a suggestion in their group. He pursed his lips and nodded at her, raising his hand slightly "I'm pureblood too soooo..." he looked at Indy, "I'm not well acquainted with the Disney and Snow White person" in fact, other than his best friend, no one ever tells him of those muggle stories.

He nodded again to Sierra's suggestion about the Tales of the Three Brothers. Jonathan knows that story, very familiar of it and is willing to try this acting thing for that. "Yeah, I'm okay with that too." Looking once again at Indy, he smiled "How about you?"

Alyssa remembered reading the story of the Fountain of Fair Fortune and the 3 ladies, Asha, Amata and Altheda and the brave knight, Sir Luckless. She recalled which ailment had befallen each of the ladies and felt some kinship with Amata who was suffering from grief because she had lost her lover. Even though her break up with Aaron was amicable, Alyssa still felt sad about it. So she spoke up.

"Would it be okay with everyone, if I played the role of Amata?"she asked the rest of her fellow performers.

Nerida looked up at the Librarian and giggled at the Professor that called him Leobald that was very funny. After hearing what he said she thought oh my yes!! We should do a classic! I grew up watching Disney with my family it was one of my favorite things to watch! She smiled hoping they would agree Do you want too? looking at both of them with an estatic face! She may have been a pureblood but that didnt me she didnt watch muggle things, expecialy DISNEY!
They could be the evil stepsisters and evil stepmom from Cinderella, so many possibilities...

Theyy were gonna act? That was pretty cool. Indy beamed, thinking about it. She liked acting. And disney too? That would be fun. Oh but her partners didn't know disney. Well that was sad, but beedle the bard would be fun too. That was an awesome book too. "Beedle the bard it is..?" She mused with a shrug. No point dong a disney book if they didn't know any. It made sense. And maybe them doing this book would make them nice and different. Different was good.

Although she did have a thought as Sierra suggested them doing the tale of the tree brothers. All the brothers died in the end right? In some way. Which was quite funny actually. Slytherins were gonna end up killing her again. Or pretending to kill her again. Typical wasn't it. Maybe Indy needed to stop pairing with Slytherins.

Trying to gather his thoughts Leo took deep breaths. Glancing over the many bean bags that now looked more like groups than individual students he tried to keep his voice steady as he spoke over the chatter. "I hope everyone by now have found themselves a group, if not then come up front and I will help you find a group." Hiccupping, he felt sour water in his mouth.

Swallowing it Leo continued "I assume you’re wondering where acting or drama comes in since this is a book club? Well you are all well versed readers which we've seen proof off with your favourite books selections. So I thought it'd be fun to re-enact a scene from one of the Beadle the bard tales or Disney classics like Snow White or similar to the rest of the club members."

"Each group chooses a tale or classic and a scene from it and re-enacts the scene in front of everyone else with each group member playing a role. The scene/performance doesn't need to be long at all just a few minutes."

Occ: Don't go overboard...Have fun! Choose a scene from either of the choices given, practice for a few posts (4 posts max) and then your performance shouldn't be longer either. So one performance post each if you are in a group of 4 etc.

Just then, before their conversation could go anywhere else, Mr. Librarian decided to speak up and give out the instructions...

They were going to act?!

What was this, drama club or book club?!

No matter, she was sure it would enjoy it anyhow. So, she then turned to her partner and smiled "So, what do you want to do? Wizard story or muggle fairytale?" Personally, she liked muggle fairytales better. They were just so magical - and not in the typical sense. Besides, princesses were often involved.
