An area in the middle of the library has been cleared of bookshelves and other equipment to make room for a big round circle of bean bags in all colours of the rainbow. One bean bag which is bigger than the others and bright orange is Mr Kitridge, the schools librarian sitting on with a small note book in his lap. For the afternoon meeting he is dressed in dark red robes.
In the middle of the circle of bean bags there is a stack of writing cards and a giant sized bowl full of candy. The candy has only been brought to the meeting because Mr Kitridge wants to give everyone a treat. Any food or drink found in the library at other hours/occasions will be thrown out and the student/s will be punished.
Go ahead and take a seat on a bean bag of your choosing and help yourself to a candy treat as you make yourself a name card while you wait for the meeting to start!
OCC: The meeting will begin in around 7 pm GMT tuesday night (May 8th). Don’t forget to bring your favourite childhood book! Keep chatting to a minimum! If you haven’t then please take time to familiarize yourself with the rules for the library.

All blame on the fisherlibrarian.
The first year Slytherin sat there, perfectly still, and probably would have got up and left if it wasn't for the fact that the beanbag? had half eaten him, and he couldn't move.
"This IS a thing for kids," Willy whisper!growled at the Slytherin near him. Surly kid. Had he been down at the lake too? He looked familiar...
Anyway. "We all have a big kid inside of us," he clarified for the child, thumping his chest for effect. At nearly 6'4'', Willy was one of the biggest kids of all.

She distinctly remembered being kicked out of the library on numerous occasions as a student, usually for talking too loudly and socialising, but she did study...
Eventually it did result in her being banned from entering this part of the castle for the entirety of her final year. So unfair.
Now... beanbags!
Oh dear. Would there be one left for her?
YES!
Eyeing a plush beanbag, Seren PLOPPED herself onto it.. resulting in a low pppppffffffffff fluffy sound coming from the beanbag itself as the air escaped from beneath her bottom. Not her bottom literally! She was a lady, but the air in the beanbag had a mind of its own.
Hoping nobody witnessed her arrival and that she wouldn't be scolded for being late, or disrupting the peace or ... something else, Seren sat there, quietly, all grins whilst hugging one of her favourite books to her chest.
Heheheh. Look at Seren. Making her bean bag fart just like Willy.
He'd always known that she was a prankster at heart... not that he was going to let on that he knew that! Shoo! No! Instead, Willy wafted his hand in front of his face to look like he was smelling something horrible, all whilst shooting Seren fake dirty looks.

Derrrr of course old Baldie over there had to make them get back to work. Willy straightened up in his beanbag as best as possible, anyway and held his thick tome over his head the way Raffiki held up Simba.
"This is my all-time favorite book ever," he announced when it was his turn. "It's called a Tale of Two Dragons. It's amazing. If you wanna know more about it, ask me." Cuz he wasn't sayin' nothin' now. Didn't wanna get laughed out for liking a baby book.
Also, he was probably supposed to say something about the importance of literacy in the classroom. "I read because I like to find out stuff about creatures. There's ALWAYS new creatures being discovered, so I subscribe to Creature Feature monthly magazine and What's That Creepy Crawly Thingy In the Corner? weekly. Also," Willy cleared his throat, "back in the day, I ALWAYS read my textbooks so that I knew what was up and uh, what I was supposed to be learnin'."
More like, he had Cece summarize them for him, but whatever. Same difference. Kids didn't need to know THAT detail.

"Well, I usually read books for class. You know, text books and such." Duh. He was a NEWT-level student, after all. "But if it's not for school, I like to read for information. Then he looked around. He was seated next to a small Slytherin. "Partner?" he asked, smiling kindly. But they were supposed to include professors as well? He gulped. He was a seventh year. Surely he should be brave enough to offer, right? Er... right. He cleared his throat again. "Er, Professor Williamson.. care to join our group?"
Now on to the COOL part of the Book Club. PARTNER WORK. WOOOOOOOO!
He leannnnnned around the surly Slytherin kid and grinned at one familiar Hufflepuff. "Sup, Keefer!" William was might proud of himself for remembering that name. "SURE, I'd LOVE to join your group. Thanks for inviting me!"
He threw out his fist for a knuckle bump. POUND IT, PUFF!

"I think a lotta people read books even when they get older 'cause, well, even though they're not young and allowed to act out the scenes in their imagination, I think people still wanna have a new world or life to escape into, or something. Maybe they get tired or discouraged from their own lives, so the comfort of a book is sorta their coping method." Paulie ruffled up his hair a bit. That was basically what he was trying to get across. "And they don't even have to be unhappy with their lives; they could just wanna get into a good story."
The lion tapped his fingers upon the cover of his Where The Wild Things Are book and glanced around. "Anyone in need of a partner?" Paulie was quite a good actor, ya know.

Why did they keep reading books? "I think is for all the reasons you mentioned, Sir," Nora said with a hand in the air. "Or at least I know that I love reading either in my free time, either when it is something required for school." But she still had fun doing it. "Besides, we can imagine everything the way we want when we're reading a book, and that is what I love the most about it." Since she had such a rich imagination... sometimes too rich... there was no surprise.

And then they had to choose partners?
"Can I be your partner?" Nora asked as she noticed the Head Boy whose name she did not know, who was also looking for a partner. They could work together, right?
Pyrsephonie smiled at the librarian. He didn't look too good, but he seemed to be hiding it. Pyrsephonie wasn't going to say anything about it. "We continue to read because it is good for us," Pyrsephonie said. "It's good for our minds, as well as our souls." Her smile grew dreamy. "It keeps the mind sharp and keeps our souls happy."
Pyrsephonie looked over to the Slytherin girl who had spoken before her. She smiled kindly and asked, "Want to be partners?"
"Sure." She smiled. Yay, she has a partner for this.
Gemma was surprised when more professors came into the book club...She had never really seen some of them as readers...Willy...cough cough...but she was still excited that other professors were here to support the new Librarian and so she didn't look odd being the only professor here. As she thought this her gaze went to Willy's book...yes that was def a children's book...wait wasn't that a toddler's book...she cocked her eyebrow at his book and smiled and mouthed the words, "Nice book..." picking on the man.
She waved and smiled at Callie...she really felt like she was going to like this one...but her thought was interrupted as Leobald starting talking...oooo yes time to get to business...sometimes she was just as bad as the students not paying attention...

She waited for a few students to answer and smiled at Willy's answer...yes that made his book make a little bit of sense...a little bit.
She felt very self conscious about her answers and how the others would judge her answers...how old was she again..she shifted in her bean bag and lost her balance for a split second almost rolling falling out of her bean bag...she glanced up to see who had seen her and then decided that maybe she had gone unnoticed focused back in on the answers...
Finally, when there was a lull in answers, she spoke up, "I think reading is sometimes our escape from our normal lives. It introduces us to a world so much unlike ours that it sucks us into the storyline and world that it creates." she hoped that made sense...because it had in her brain....
She glanced around the room, "Anyone wanna partner up with an oldie in the room?"

Minerva smiled and waved at her muggles studies professor "Professor Cerulean, I will be your partner if you wouldn't mind." she really liked her Professor Cerulean and they had something in common the states. So she got excited and hoped that the professor would want to join her in a group. "someone else could join us as well if they wanted." she added in case the professor was looking for someone else to partner up with instead of Minerva.
Ira looked around. It seemed as if everyone except she was getting a partner. So who to join?

Then she heard the muggle studies professor. Pair with oldie? Oh no no! Professor Cerulean certainly wasn't an oldie! At least not the 'old'! But then before she could reply, Minerva had paired up. But weren't groups of three allowed too?

Grinning, Ira stepped forward, and asked sweetly, "Can I join you two? Please?" And no.. 'no' wasn't an option! Hehe..
"Um.. professor.. are you good in acting?" Ira asked. No, it didn't really matter, or maybe it did, but Ira was curious a little. Because Ira was terrible at acting!

Kennedy's cheeks grew redder when he caught Selena smirking at him. So, he pressed the cover of the book to his chest. He was still manly...it was just his old child self that liked this book. Right.
He looked up when the Librarian began to speak. There were many answers to his questions. So many Kennedy could go on and on and on about them, but instead settled for one answer. "I think people continue to read books not only to extend their knowledge, but as a form of distraction. Some times it's nice to block out the entire world and just focus on what is in the book," he said. "It's also a good way to deal with stress. Keeps you from thinking too much." And he knew that personally. He listened to the answers that followed and glanced next to him.
Selena placed Kent on her lap, petting the pygmy puff's soft, fuzzy-ness. She liked this beanbag and she was not going to get up from it. And now that she was listening to the professor, and focusing on the candy, Selena felt as though she should probably answer some questions. Or that one question that the Librarian had just given them. Because it made more sense.
"People read books to relieve themselves of boredom," Selena said out loud. Because Selena read when she got bored. "It also provides a bit of an escape from whatever you're facing, plus, sometimes you learn stuff about people from books that aren't nonfiction," Selena added. Because you learned about the way people behaved. Plus books were supposed to be educational anyways.
And now came the next part. Finding a partner. Or maybe two. Selena was okay with either. "Who wants to be my partner?!" Selena called out loud, still petting the pygmy puff.

Sophie walked up to the Slytherin Prefect - OH, HEAD GIRL!! Cool! - and smiled. "Can I be your partner?" She said looking up at her. "I'm Sophie!"
"I think a lotta people read books even when they get older 'cause, well, even though they're not young and allowed to act out the scenes in their imagination, I think people still wanna have a new world or life to escape into, or something. The lion tapped his fingers upon the cover of his Where The Wild Things Are book and glanced around. "Anyone in need of a partner?" Paulie was quite a good actor, ya know.
Adarian smiled, man the older Gryffindor took the words right out of his mouth. He looked too his own book thoughfully, "I was thinking along his lines too." He jerked his thumb to the older boy in question. "When we are younger we read and it expands and fits our already rampant imaginations. As we get older we can escape into a book when the going gets tough and just forget for a while."
He then walked over to the older Gryffindor, "Still need a partner?" He fiddled with the hem of his right sleeve. This guy was sooo much taller than him, darn his smallish first year size.
Kennedy's cheeks grew redder when he caught Selena smirking at him. So, he pressed the cover of the book to his chest. He was still manly...it was just his old child self that liked this book. Right.

And he knew that personally. He listened to the answers that followed and glanced next to him.
It was partnering time.
And John was next to him.
Dibs!!!
John scratched his head and began to think about why people still read books? His mother's voice chimed in his head. Answer! he found the answer to why he still reads books.
"The reason I believe people still read books, is because every book shares a piece of freedom to let the mind run wild like a sweet escape from reality. It lets people see the world in a different perspective or point of view...it also keeps family generations going." John said as it brought him back memories of his childhood past as well as his young adult life too.
I'm such a genius! Johnathan thought to himself.
He heard all the other answers the students had, he felt like clapping since everyone had their own opinions. It allowed his mind to stimulate what other people saw within books and knowledge. John then noticed his best friend looking at him. You know what that means dibs on John being his partner! Challenge accepted, on behalf of the oh so handsome, seventh year lion.
Louisa was watching the professors joining the club more and more. Even Scabior showed up! The same gaped look she'd given Paulie before, she was staring at the History of Magic professor now the same way. He reads? Wow. She didn't think he had the temper, patience or that he cared about what people actually wrote. His teachings could be from anywhere other than books, too.
Snickering at Nessie being awakened by professor Williamson, Louisa grinned at the prince thing. She was so going to tease her friend about it when this club meeting was over. Heh.
"People read.." she started when it was her turn, ".. for all the purposes that you mentioned, sir. Personally, I read specific books that are meant to make me laugh, I read others to gain knowledge, I read a third kind of books that I don't agree with their authors just to be enlightened about why people like this book, author or concept of the said book." See? She read everything and she made sure to have a reason for it.
WHYYY were there professors here? And not even just one or two but fully half of the staff? Why weren't they doing their own adult book club thing? West was suspicious. He still hadn't shared his book and had no plans to. Not yet at least. Wasn't it supposed to be for them students?

Professor Elwood turned her attention from which ever kid had just told them about their favorite book and to the young boy had begun to speak, he was a cute little one....
Who apparently had a bit of an attitufe.
Calita's eyes widened and her mouth opened a tad, a bit insulted that he didn't want them there. That was very bold of him to speak up like that. She would have said something had Willy not whispered at him about something about even the adults being like kids on the inside, or something much nicer than she would have said.
SPOILER!!: Professors
Gemma, Willy, and Sophia too....

He was late, but that was okay.
Slipping into the library he took note first of the unnecessary set up. Really, when were bean bag chairs ever useful? The guy who invented them had probably been embarrassed to admit it. If he wanted to sit on something that felt like sitting on a giant marshmallow, he'd conjure a giant marshmallow.
The second thing Scabior took notice of was large number of staff members. Two new ones. William. And girls. Merlin, this was bound to be more interesting than he thought. And if it wasn't it seemed like an okay place for a nap.
Spotting, William- or rather hearing him, Dash forced himself into the beanbag chair beside him.
He was right. It was stupid.
"Hey." He tried to nudge William in the side with his arm, but the other man was engulfed by the chair. A tasty WWW meal for the beanbag.

The look she got from Mrs. Bellaire surely meant that she knew she wasn't excited to see her. Oh well. And the wave from Willy and Gemma both were nice. She liked both of them.
Before they moved on still, too other staff members came in, these two she hadn't officially met yet. The first was the man with the scabby lip from the feast the Headmaster had talked to and the second was the friendly looking blonde. She needed to try and talk to her after the meeting. Yep.

Oh good, the Librarian was speaking again. Calista turned her attention back to him and then nodded when he asked them a question.
An easy one at that.
"I personally think the reason we still read books such as these ones when we are older is the fact that while you read, it's like being sucked into the story and the setting. So virtually you can go anywhere, be anything, do whatever you want." It was freeing. You didn't have to worry about what was happening to you in your life at the time if you were reading.
An escape.
And now they were being told to get into groups. Calista looked around and then decided she would work with the Scabby lip guy. She stood up, and then walked over to him, taking the bean bag beside him. After sitting and smoothing out the bottom of her dress she smiled and spoke to him. "Professor Calista Elwood, Divination. Would you like to partner up?"
Before waiting for his response she raised her hand to signal the other group memebers, "Hey guys, we have room for a student in our group." Not an annoying on please.

Anyway. "We all have a big kid inside of us," he clarified for the child, thumping his chest for effect. At nearly 6'4'', Willy was one of the biggest kids of all.
Keefer listened curiously as Williamson brought his book down from above his head and began to speak. That was... interesting. Understatement of the year.
First. He was shocked to hear a Professor say 'sup,' though it was Williamson. So maybe he shouldn't have been thrown off by that.
Second. Blink. Keefer stared at his Professor's outstretched fist. He wanted to.. what was that phrase.. pound it? People haven't done that for fifty years... He humored his old Professor and gave him a fist pound right back. "I've never seen someone get so excited about... books!" CLEARLY he didn't know too many Ravenclaws.
Now to find partners.... Hmmm...
There were a lot of professors showing up actually. She didn't think it was a professor type of thing. Sitting in here bean bag more comfortably she wished she had chosen a bigger bean bag because bigger was better and the one she had chosen was tiny. Listening to Kitridge he had asked why they read books. Easy.
"I think people read books for entertainment and to study." She probably could of given a better answer but that was basic. Now she had to find a partner she looked around to see who had a partner or no partner.
"Hi!" she said looking at the prefect. "Want to be partners?" she asked the girl. She was pretty good at finding prefects wasn't she?
Leobald sat back on his orange bean bag for a moment and marveled over the big book treasure present in the room. Both students and professors alike had united in coming to the meeting and sharing their favourite books from their youth with the rest just like he had wanted.
Feeling his stomach surge and bubble Leo immediately regretted eating that liqourice wand which he had downed some minutes ago, hopefully he wouldn’t get nauseous. Praying, he cleared his throat to address the assembled book clubbers "A great book treasure is present here this afternoon in your hands with themes ranging from fantasy with wild worlds and magical creatures to adventure with deserted islands and heroines to name a few."
"So why do we read books and continue to read books as we get older?” He glanced briefly at the professors present in the room. “Is it for fun, enjoyment, knowledge or something entirely different, please share your views with us all.”
Downing some soar water that had surfaced in his throat Mr Kitridge continued. "When you’ve shared your views with the circle I want you all to find yourself a partner or two for the next sentiment of the meeting which will involve acting, please invite the professors to join your groups." The professors were there so they should be active too.
"I shall tell you all what you will re-enact when the groups have been formed."
OCC: Answer the question and then form groups of twos or threes.
The books everyone shared were a treasure? Well, his book yeah, cuz it was awesome. But the other books? Most of them were sissy girly books. Well, the ones he had heard of anyways. And seeing how excited some people were over their books? Mika sounded like she was quoting a book report or something. But then again, she was a Ravenclaw. It looked like someone got sorted right.
Why did they read? Kaiden had never really thought about that before. He supposed it had alot to do with the adventures in the books, or the cool things you could learn, like say making a campfire. "I like reading my books because they are exciting, and they let me feel like I live in castle times. And there are other books that I can learn from. You can learn how to take care of a camp fire, or even how to survive in the woods."
Groups, right. "Mika!" he called across the circle. "Wanna be partners?"

Cardigan was just, wowed. So many people showed up!! Even the professors! Not that they wouldn't read or anything like that. 'Cause they do... Everyone reads, just because... The snake had finally conjured up a suitable answer, sure to wow some minds! Now, to share it with the world.. Meanwhile, she listen and waited intently as everyone gave their answers. It was so, just, mistifying, what everyone's views were on reading! Of all things..
Soon enough, it was Cardigan's turn to share her point of view on the subject of reading. Clearing her throat, she started out, "I think we read, even when we get older, just because. It provides us with a window to the outside world, showing us different things and giving us hope, when we can't find it. When we can't find answers, we look to books. When we need consoling, we, sometimes, look to books. Books are like friends that never leave your side." Claps for Cardigan!!! That was a most splendid answer! At least, she though so.
Now all Cardigan had to do was find partners! And who her partners are to be, I do not know...
"Hi!" she said looking at the prefect. "Want to be partners?" she asked the girl. She was pretty good at finding prefects wasn't she?
Blink blink.
"Hi! Yeah sure, do you know how to act?" Louisa asked the girl concerned, because the Prefect did not know how to act... like real acting and not the silly voices she came up with when reading to her younger brother. "Either way, we can be partners. I'm Louisa Carter," she introduced herself and started dragging her bouncy bean seat over to the girl. Hopefully this book club wouldn't turn out into something non-book-ish.

As Cardigan continued scanning the room for victims of her awesomeness possible candidates of partners, she came across the Ravenclaw prefect girl and some other Slytherin. Hopefully they wouldn't mind her... Anyways, she made her way over to them, dragging her Orangish-Yellowish beanbag behind her. "Hi! Can I join y'all?" Cardigan asked the two girls, using her Country accent she had practiced using. But of course, it wasn't real. She just might need it for the acting whatever thingie..

Before Louisa caught the name of the first girl, another one joined them. The Prefect pulled her legs up and slid them underneath her as the new girl dragged her beanbag, she didn't want her toes to get squashed even by a fake seat. "Yeah, sure you can. I'm Louisa Carter and this is.." she looked at the third girl and furrowed her eyebrows slightly, "..actually we haven't introduced properly yet." A chuckle to cover this awkwardness.
SO.. their drama group was formed, they'd probably name it something once the librarian tell them what exactly were they going to do. Again, hopefully it was something to do with BOOKS since it was a BOOK club. See the connection?

"Well, I usually read books for class. You know, text books and such." Duh. He was a NEWT-level student, after all. "But if it's not for school, I like to read for information. Like.. the Prophet of Which Broomstick are my two favorites." The Prophet just to keep up on the times. The other for.. well, he WAS the Quidditch Captain, after all.

What number was he up to?
10) He was stuck in a beanbag chair.
11) There were adults here.
"I read books because my dad does." West gave his own input and then nodded once, firmly. Yes. That was the reason.
It was a good thing that he didn't have to do much to find partners, since he was stuck in a chair and all, so West just BEAMED at the big boy, both for asking and because he said Which Broomstick. "I read Quidditch stuff TOO." And the Daily Prophet... in case there was stuff about his dad or anything. And who was Professor Williamson gosh that was a long name? West figured it out pretty quick though when the man spoke to him.
11a) Though the big one that was sitting with him wasn't that bad, at least he'd answered West's very good question.
West watched Williamson and Keefer's fist pounding with fascination and then held up his own fists -both of them- and tried it out too, pounding his own fists together.
Yeah! He was ready to do whatever it was he was supposed to be doing. And maybe after someone would help him out of the beanbag.
"I'm West!"
Just so they knew the important things.

Ella thought seriously about the question for a moment before sharing her answer. "Well, I guess we continue to read our favorite childhood books when we're older cause it reminds us what if felt like to be a kid. Maybe it even takes us back there for a little while." Not that Ella was an adult or anything yet but it seemed that would be why.
Oh! Now they would be partnering up...with professors too? Woah. Ella had never worked with a professor like this. The second year looked around, noting that several people had already formed groups. Clearing her throat, she began to speak. "Anyone need an addition to their group?" Come on people, Ella's quite the catch.

Minerva smiled "Sure we can work together." Minerva was excited about pairing up with them. She had seen the other third year a few times, but never formally introduced. "Hey I'm Minerva by the way." she was excited to work with the professor, but wasn't sure if she was wanting to join them yet or not.
"Sure." She smiled. Yay, she has a partner for this.
Pyrsephonie smiled brightly. "I'm Pyrsephonie," she introduced herself. They were now a group of two. She looked around at everyone else, wondering if she should expand the group. "Anyone else need partners?"
