So apparently the fire seed weren't high maintenance that was good to see. Then she updated her notes: Text Cut: Ira's journal Now it was time to practice the spell. She first practiced the incantation. Chaudensis... chawdensis.. chawdensis.. chiaudensis.. no! What was it? Chaudensis. Once she was sure that she had got her incantation right, she proceeded for the wand movement. Smooth rotation of wrist only, not the whole hand, and the wand pointing to ground for now. She first updated her journal: Text Cut: Ira's Journal |

Beezus frowned slightly as she watched how the Herbology Professor performed the correct wand movement. Circular rotation, was it? The young Ravenclaw bent her own hand that was holding her wand that it was now facing the ground. And keep in mind, aim it away from your feet so she shuffled a bit backwards and did the wand movement. Following the Professor's lead, she slowly rotated her wrist, her wand almost tracing a circle. Almost, but not quite yet. It seemed to trace an oblong instead! |
Now for the wand movement, Ira took out her wand and proceeded. Smooth circular motion.. that was easy, wasn't it? She decided to just practice rotating her wrist without the wand. Keeping her wand on the desk, she proceeded to rotate only her wrist, not her hand. She turned it once, twice, thrice... that was enough for now! Then taking her wand in her hand, she proceeded to again practice the movement. It didn't seem to be in a circle.. Still, practice makes a man perfect, right? |
Amelia hadn't known her boyfriend was here. She only heard when he was asking the Professor to repeat the incantation. She knew he would be having trouble because of his dyslexia and so didn't want to be too close to the rest of the class in case they heard. She moved over to him now and touched his arm briefly before started to work on her wand movement like instructed. She made sure not to speak the incantation as she rotated her wrist. |
Professor Bentley had demonstrated the wand movement. Now, Raven decided to practice it. She rotated her wrist to make a circular motion. Easy, huh? She tried it once again, She rotated her wrist again repeatly. Practice makes perfect, right? |
Ira continued to practice the wand movement. It must rotate in a circle she told herself. Finally it looked like a circle. She tried again, she rotated her wrists and yup! it was almost a perfect circle, at least according to her! But then realized that she had to do the movement facing downward, while all the time, she had only done it facing upwards. So aiming her wand down towards he ground she repeated the wand movement. Okay.. it was going fine. She was confident that she had almost perfected the wand movement! |
Looking down where her wand was, Angelina picked it up and began to do what their professor was doing. After a while of moving just her writs in circles she began to get a little tired. Angelina put her hand down for a little, tell is got somewhat better. Putting her hand back up silently she began to continue move her writs in circles. |
Minerva picked up her wand and started making a circular motion with her wrist. "Professor Bentley is this correct?" she kept making the circular motion as she waited on the Professor. |
Jezzabelle pulled out her wand and imitated the way the Professor was holding it. Now it was just a matter of going in a circular motion. She raised her unoccupied hand,"Does it matter if you go clockwise or counterclockwise, Professor?" Oh this was important like. She did a little of both and found she preferred to go clockwise but she could manage to do either or. |
Don't repeat the incantation. Don't repeat the incantation. Adam repeated to himself before he might accidentally do it with a slip of his mind. So he had to move his wand in a circular motion. He whipped out his wand an made extra sure to not be having it facing the floor an even worse anywhere near his feet. When he did his first attempt, his would-be circle ended up forming more of an oval effect on his hand. He did his second try, an it came out more as a even sized circle. |
Silvia pulled out her wand and proceeded to practicing the wand movement. She pointed the wand towards the ground and rotated her wrist in a circular motion. Seems easy enough, she thought, and continued to practice. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Bentley Alyssa listened as the Professor taught everyone the wand movements to the spell. She looked at how the Professor held the wand in front of her, how she bent her wrist, directing it at the ground and how she rotated her wrist in a smooth circular motion like tracing a circle. Once the Professor allowed them to practice the movements themselves, she took a couple of steps away from the other students, and unholstered her wand. Taking the wand in her right hand, she pointed it in front of her and bent her wrist so that her wand was directed at the ground, making very sure that she was pointing it away from her toes. She then rotated her wrist making a smooth circular motion with her wand like she was tracing a circle. She practiced the movement a couple of times before she returned her wand back into its holster. She then rested for awhile before she took out her wand again, pointed it out in front of her and bent her wrist so that her wand was directed at the ground. Making sure that she wasn't pointing at her feet or anyone else's for that matter, she rotated her wrist making a circular motion with her wand, tracing a circle over and over again. She made very sure that she wasn't even thinking or saying the words of the incantation. Once she was sure of both incantation and wand movement, she quickly updated her journal. SPOILER!!: Ze Professor Messer quickly copied the instructions that Professor Bentley had written on the blackboard onto his notebook. After he finished writing notes, he tried to practice the incantation first like the Professor said. "Saw-den-Sssshhh...Chaaaw-den-ssshh...Chaw-den-" Now that remind him of living room. "Shaaaww-den-Sssiiihh..Chaw-den-sis.." The last one seem right. "Chaw-den-sis" Yup. Its Chaw-den-sis. Now, onto the wand movement. The first year pay attention while Professor Bentley demonstrate the wand movement. Bend at the wrist. Bend at the wrist. He tried to remembered that. He pick up his wand and imitated what the Professor did. |
Sophie watched as Professor Bentley showed them the wand movement. Then she got out her own wand and started imitating what the witch had just done. Now that was quite simple, wasn't it? |
Wand at the ground for now, got it. Removing her wand now, Kurumi picked a random spot on the ground as her focal point. Everything was so dark now that it was sort of hard to see what all was what. Still, she did manage to make out something that resembled a rock and that became her focus for practicing purposes. Starting off slow, Kurumi began drawing a circle in the air with a slightly rigid wrist moment that slowly became more fluid over time. She looked up for a moment when Jezz asked if the direction of their rotation mattered and Kurumi hoped that clockwise was appropriate since that was the easier of the two for her to do. Having practice the movement enough, Kurumi placed her wand back in its turquoise holster and massaged her wrist a bit. There had been a lot of wand movements involving this sort of movement recently and it was beginning to wear on her limbs...or perhaps it was an old Quidditch injury flaring up again. She suddenly felt even better about her decision to not play this year. |

Glenn scribbled a couple of notes in her journal. All the instructions for Herbology were scrawled inside. She frowned at a smudge in the in the ink that she had made; she was supposed to be keeping this journal neat this year. Not a great start to that new years resolution. Oh? So they were to practise the spell now? Wait, no. Just the wand movement. She pulled her wand from her pocket and aimed it at the ground, away from her feet and no one elses feet either. Smoothly drawing an invisible circle in the air, her wrist started getting sore but she ignored it and clenched her teeth; she had to learn this. |

Holding her wand, she made a smooth rotation just as she had seen professor Bentley do, bending at the wrist and... point it away from her feet? EEEEP! Right, now it was pointed away from her feet, and away from pretty much anything else, although she knew she was not so awesome (not yet) to cast non verbal spells. Smooth rotation, bending at the wrist... and away from the feet. |
Repeating the incantation a few more times for good measure, Stella looked up as Professor Bentley demonstrated the wand movement. It seemed easy enough, but then she remembered the lesson on wand movements last term in Charms, too. The easy movements sometimes proved to be more difficult, so she spent a few seconds visualizing the movement, not to mention successfully accomplishing it. She didn't really think she'd have difficulty, but then she'd thought the incantation would have been easy for her too. However, once she decided it would be better to actually practice, she slid her wand out of its holster and bent her wrist like the professor had done. Staying away from her shoes, or anyone else's, was an interesting feat, but she focused on a planter nearby as she rotated her wrist and moved her wand in a circular motion. Nothing should happen anyhow, as they weren't combining the movement with the incantation yet, but she wanted to be safe anyway. Repeating the movement, she found herself having to stop after half a dozen circles as her wrist started to cramp. How can Professor bentley do this without feeling like she's going to sprain her wrist?, she wondered, shiting her wrist back straight and leaving her wand loose in her fist. She wanted to make sure she was still ready for the next step, after all, even if she was taking a break from practice. |

She pointed her wand towards the ground just like Professor Bentley did and followed the smooth rotation she was demonstrating. "I think that's right..." Tayla thought, getting excited to try the incantation and the wand movement together. |
SPOILER!!: Prof Bentley He practiced how the spell was uttered quietly to himself, then watched as the Professor moved on to show them the wand movement. Ok no incantations, just wand movement. He pointed his wand at the ground just as she did. It looked simple enough to him. But how much was too much? He couldnt tell unless he starts combining it with the spell. |
O____o Cow then what? Why was it suddenly about cow in Herbology? Was the charm used to fertilise the seed with cow dungs? Perhaps so. After finishing his notes, Hades withdrew his wand and made circular motion with his wrist in the air. "I think I get it," he mumbled with a small confusion showed on his face. He still didn't get about the cow thing though. The boy raised his hand again. "Professor! Why is there 'cow' in the incantation?" he asked cluelessly. Although, it wasn't intended to annoy the cheerful professor. Hades was merely curious of what he had heard. |
New charm! Janice repeated the incantation several times, to make sure she did it right. Chaudensis, Chaudensis. Then, she practiced the wand movement. Circle, circle, circle. Done. |
Eino removed his wand and watched from Professor Bentley to his hand as he tried to mimic her. First, he held his wand's tip towards the ground, then smoothly rotated one full circle using his wrist. Eino's quiet practice was then interrupted by a young Slytherin boy standing near by, who was questioning about cows. Eino looked away and around in attempts to find said cow but it was all to no avail. The greenhouse was cow-less, and incantations were far too small to have cows in them. Should he offer to escort the Slytherin to the hospital wing? After deciding not to, Eino returned to tracing circles with his wand directed at the ground, though still keeping an eye on cow-boy in case he tried to conjure one. |
SPOILER!!: Incantation Gideon listened to the answers being given, including his sister's , admitting most appeared to be useful in some way. The common sense ones about being extra careful around the seeds and handling the seeds sticking out the most. But they were after all something one should certain had guessed would be needed...they were dealing with fire. As Professor Bentley moved on and revealed the blackboard, the Gryffindor had begun to write even before he was told to. He wasn't a fan of doing steps to anything without writing them down. Last thing he needed was to forget it, or worse, realize something too late because of the dim lighting. Quote:
"Chaudensis... " Chaw-den-sis..." "Chaudensis... " "Chaudensis... Chaw-den-sis...Chaudensis... " SPOILER!!: Wand Movement The fifth year hoped it sounded ok and would work, his accent making it slightly different then what he was hearing around him. When the time was ready for the wand movement, Gideon picked up his wand to do exactly as he was shown, one smooth twist of his wrist. Twist...twist...twist, bending at the wrist. His mind repeating the motion in his thoughts as he moved his wand to agree with it, its tip aimed at the ground. |
