Are you a HUfflepuff like my sister?" The robes their were both wearing did look very similar and if they were both 'puff; she could make a new friend in the same house as her sister. Janice could so be her first other house friend. Yes, that would be so exciting.

"Nice to meet you too.." Janice said while shaking Lana's hand. Then she looked at Laura, then Lana, then back to Laura. "Oh, yeah, you look alike, and I think I saw her several times in our common room..." She had actually seen Laura quite a lot of times, and she could swore that Laura had 2 set of robes, one in yellow and black, the other in blue and bronze. Now, Janice knew why.

Ooh! A Ravenclaw! Janice only knew 2 or 3 people in Ravenclaw, and the lot seemed to be very nice people. "Yeah, I'm a Hufflepuff!" she said proudly. Being in Hufflepuff is the best thing that could ever happen to her, in a good way.

It seemed like before he had the chance to say anything else to Stella, the ducks wanted to get a word in edgewise; well unfortunately Matt didn't know their language otherwise he would have responded. That made him strangely wonder exactly what kind of conversation there would be with a duck. Hmm. "I suppose that's true, but yeah I'm not turning into a duck here; I'm just a little weird lately since I didn't get the chance to surf much over the summer between working and trying to pack before I had to move to London. Just being around the water again feels like I was back home in Los Angeles, though it's a lot warmer there anyway." He knew at one point or another, he'd go back there; probably to see his parents and his brother but that probably wasn't going to be for awhile. "Oh well good, I would have wondered if you said that you didn't like me. But I know you do anyway." That statement made him remember the hate potion situation that they went through last term and no matter what, he just wanted to forget about that once and for all because it wasn't a good time; they went a couple of weeks without speaking to one another but it had seemed like an eternity at the time.

"Things don't stay normal for long around here." That was a known fact about Hogwarts, that was also why he was going to miss the school so much at the end of the term; well that wasn't all he was going to miss but right now wasn't the time to think about that. No need to be sad when it was still September so there was plenty of time left. "Well that's good, speaking of which.. I don't recall you ever telling me how you ended up doing on your OWLs." Obviously he was curious since he had helped her study for the exams which was quite the adventure at times merely because he got distracted a couple times and forgot what they were working on.

Once the ducks realized that Stella had given them the last of the food they were going to get from her, the quacking had ceased. She still couldn't help but grin as the noise had seemed to distract Matt again momentarily, though. It was really like he was trying to commune with the creatures or something, even if he'd assured her he wasn't thinking about turning into a duck. Plus, his explanation actually made some sort of sense, even as she still smiled. "I'm sorry you didn't get to surf. I think the lake might be better than the duck pond, though, if you really wanted to consider getting wet," she commented, unable to not be the tiniest bit teasing. They'd never really explored going to the lake that much anyhow, but it had to be better than the little duck pond. Even if the lake was minus the ducks. "I'd think it might be better when it's not autumn though. Warmer." Kind of like he'd said.

She gave him a look as he'd spoken again, even hypothetically suggesting he'd thought she would have said she didn't like him. Especially as it brought back the point last term when she'd thought he didn't. That wasn't anything she even wanted to consider again. "I more than like you," she corrected, finally getting past the moment and letting a small smile creep across her face as she remembered the park. That was a much better memory than that Potions homework from last term. And then he'd distracted her even more by correctingher use of the term 'normal', and she giggled. "That's true. Although I was just talking about the fact that so far it's been mostly just lessons. Nothing odd's happened yet."

Her giggles calmed down as he'd picked up on her mention of OWLs, however, and an apologetic look crossed her face. "I think we got distracted by other things this summer, once we were in the same place. But I did really well. I got mostly Outstandings and Exceeds Expectations, but at least I managed to pass them all," she replied. She wasn't forced to drop any classes for failing the exams, at least. Even if she still felt like she was horrible at certain subjects. She was still hoping he'd help her with Runes.

Adam headed down to the duck pond an spotted them all floating in the water, enjoying their peaceful life. The air outside was slightly warming up in the early afternoon, but thankfully he had some of the water to cool of his feet, at least he wouldn't be burning up entirely.

He had finally found some time to just relax by himself. Having had to go to the Hospital Wing for a final check up an getting used to the fact that he actually 'patrolled' corridors, which had found himself going to classes more regularly. Perhaps getting lost had a good effect as he found himself near the classrooms. With one quick glance Adam saw the shiny little badge on his shirt, how different it felt to wear it.

Talikins 01-08-2012 09:56 AM

So now there was a duck pond too? Wondering around the school grounds once again, Nessie stopped when she saw a pond full of ducks. They were really adorable, and Ness couldn't resist but to take a closer look at them. Looking at water she took of her shoes and walked in up to her ankle. It felt nice and refreshing.

It was only a few seconds later that she realized the reason why she had really come here was standing right behind her. "Adam!!" She said giving him a hug. When she pulled back something shiny caught her eye. It was a badge..not just any badge it was a prefect badge. Nessie opened her mouth in shock. Really her big brother Adam a prefect she couldn't believe it she thought he was a trouble maker.

"Your..your..a prefect." It was all she could get out of her mouth. She immidiately thought of the other Gryffindor prefect. Kurumi probably wasn't happy about this at all, it was just a little surprising.

Adam was rather glad to see, an feel Nessie hugging him. The last time they had spoken Adam had left their friendship on an odd note as he had been suspicious an doubting his own thoughts of a particular item he had wanted to buy, an left Nessie feeling worried an confused. "Glad to see you, really, I am."

When she let go it sounded as if she were equally as speechless an surprised as he had been when he got the news. "Ye-yeah." Was all he could say for the moment. He was probably as confused as she was, but he accepted the title. "A little bit..umm..surprising...I guess." Adam, the trouble maker, the arguer, the losing friendships Adam, a prefect. Honestly, he couldn't get over it. "I guess I am prefect." He said once more, now pinching the badge an looking at it again.

Talikins 01-08-2012 10:34 AM

Pouting, Ness doubted whether Adam was really glad to see her or not. She couldn't help but think of the incident they had over the summer. It was rather frightening to think how Adam had been eyeing those love potions and now that he was prefect, it would be horrific of him to use such a thing on someone especially on Kurumi."Yeah..course you are" she said a little sarcastically. She sort of gave him a stern yet worried look and then she looked back at the pond.

Without realizing it Nessie sort of burst into laughter. This had to be a joke, it couldn't be. She wouldn't believe it. "You are joking right?" She had to ask just to be certain, even though it was very likely of him to pull pranks. "Prefect Adam..this can't be true." She giggled a little more. The day that Adam would be a prefect was probably the day her best friend came back to life..which would be literally never. He was just such a joker and he was always causing some sort of drama..or unless he had a really well behaved good side that Ness hadn't seen properly yet.

It was ridiculous, Nessie bit her lip and then looked out at the pond once more. She saw two ducks swimming along together like they were a couple. It sort of made Ness think of the boy she liked, but then she stopped herself. She didn't want to think about him, because she doubted that, that someone felt the same way as she did. She looked at Adam again. He'd know how to tell if a boy liked her right? "Erm...Adam..erm..how do you know ifaboylikesyou?" She went a little red, it was a pretty awkward subject to talk about with her big brother, but hopefully he'd have some answers.

Zhenya smiled. Yes, the question was worded a bit silly! "I just meant before you turned 11 and were told you could go to Wizarding school. My mother home taught me. But she taught me muggle subjects, as she is a muggle teacher. What do your parents do?" she asked.

Jory was very surprised to get a hug from Gwen. She'd always been a bit moody and didn't seem as if she cared much that he was her friend. But he hugged her back, pleased to see her after the long holidays and wondering if she'll be more friendly this year. "I'm great, as always,'' he said grinning noting Gwen had gotten a bit taller. "What about you? Made any Potion in the Lab as yet?'' He knew Gwen liked to brew potions in her spare time.

Jory threw some more bread into the pond for the duck which had strangely followed him to the other side. "Summer was just fun. Vacationed in Hawaii-again. I'm never tired of that place. Didn't Ari tell you? My parents invited her to come with us.'' Jory sat down next to where Gwen had been sitting. "What did you do? I didn't even get an owl from you.''

The Huffie took up Gwen's offer. "Thanks." He laughed in amusement at his friend's disgusted face. "I love eating these. You ever know what's the next flavour you'll be having,'' Joy said taking a cautious bite into his green coloured bean. "Cucumber,'' he informed Gwen and popped the entire bean into his mouth. Chewing, he thought of her question in more amusement. "Nah, I don't think so,'' he answered as he watched the creatures enjoying the fuss made about them. "They'd probably choke.'' Jory threw the duck some more bread. "Did you check out the theater?"

Oh right- this was what she didn’t like about Hufflepuffs- they were always in a good mood. Psh. Mocking them isn’t even fun if they don’t get upset, the girl thought.

‘No, the lab is closed!’, Gwen said, in a very ‘can you imagine!?!’ kind of way, just like muggles announcing some important thing on the news. ‘Oh…’, she then mumbled, realizing that Jory was probably just mocking her. Awkward moment- 1—Gwen-0.

‘She told me’, Gwendolyn said, remembering how long the conversations with Ari about her holiday in Hawaii were. It really isn’t necessary to hear it again, she thought. ‘I spend some time at home…’ The usual. ‘Umm… and then I was on vacation with my parents. I also met a few friends-‘ Ari’s mom was probably sick of her already.

Since we are talking about holidays- ‘I’m not sure what I’m going to do now. My dad had to go to Egypt the day after I arrived at Hogwarts, and I thought of joining him sometime. But I’m not sure I could skip school’, Gwen mused.

Maybe it won’t be so bad if they choke. They are just ducks. Annoying ones, she thought and looked back at the creatures. Shew. ‘What?’ O________________________o ‘There’s a theatre?!?!’

‘A lot of things have changed this year. I didn’t even get to see all of them’ Let’s see… ‘I also heard there’s a vegetable patch aaand the topiary garden. That one is beautiful! Have you seen it?’

Katie knew that Erin had said she found it boring but Katie HAD to get Erin down to the library at one stage, no matter what it takes she shall, but she didn't mean that in a mean way or anything. "You won't be saying that when your in your fifth year" Katie joked, though it would be true, even this early in the year fifth years were flooding the library.

Katie laughed, yup, she knew, but Ursula had just popped into her head and she had to say it, because she was awesome, duh! She had no more ideas, so she shrugged her shoulders. Beezus? She sounded firmilular... Oh that was Baudelaire!! Katie smiled, she should really be heading to the library to study, "Have fun with Baudelaire kay? Say I said hi please, and it was nice to meet you too Erin, and of course your lizard" Katie smiled, looking at the lizard.

She passed the people and took a look at the pond. It was breathtaking. It really was. She took a seat on the rocky ledge and took off her sandals. She placed them next to her upon the grass and dipped her feet into the cold water. She mentally noted that this would be her secret place to think instead of the fourth floor corridor.

Nikolas was wandering around the grounds of Hogwarts doing absolutely nothing, just walking aimlessly and see what was new around here. Mr. Stryker wasn't here anymore that was for sure and also the treehouse, but one thing caught his attention and it was a duck. A duck? He frowned looking at the duck standing there, why was a duck here anyways?

The duck started to walk back to wherever he has come from and Nikolas followed him to discover a pond. A very pretty pond. It was definitely relaxing he could actually come here and take a nap after classes once in a while. A girl was sitting on the rocky ledge and he knew who she was, walking closer to her he poked her on the left shoulder and sat to her right. He wanted to see her reaction when looking back and not seeing anyone. Heh. "Hey" he smiled.

They seemed really peaceful on such a nice day like this. While she sat there she felt someone poke her on her left shoulder and she turned seeing no one there. She shook her head and then heard someone say 'hey' and she quickly turned to her right, scooting away, frightened. The sixth year quickly calmed down as she saw who it was. "Nikolas!" She said, gently pushing him on his shoulder as she scooted closer to him. "Thanks for scaring me." She said, sarcastically. Maybe she was just oversensitive on being scared and such, but she wouldn't admit that.

Rocking her foot in the air, she lightly shook her head and opened the book back up to the bent page she had made. He obviously wasn't too talkative, an admiring trait that she hasn't seen so far in this school. It seemed everyone wanted to talk and trade stories the moment they meet. Annoying.

She plucked the pencil from behind her ear once more and turned the page. On to another angry rant, the writer was. A defeated sigh escaping her, her pencil darted across the page once more. Circle word here, underline sentence here. Doodle a pair of wings in the corner here. Had she really gotten this bored already? She hardly realized the boy said something until a minute after. Blinking, she looked up and over at him once more. She didn't quite catch what he said, but she didn't think it was crucial enough to ask him to reiterate it.

Oh. His name. Of course he would have said that, seeing as she had asked him. Where had her mind been? "I see." If she had known him better she would say that name suits him. He looked like a Lewis. Lewis' weren't bouncing around hyper people. They were more calm and withdrawn or at least that was with her experience with others with that name. In the modeling world there are a handful of Marks, Alex's, Tim's and Lewis'. Very eccentric names for eccentric people.

"It's Sylia. Sylia Rose."
Almost like she caught it like a cold, she ran a hand through her hair as well. She always felt strange when she introduced herself. Maybe it was because she didn't use her real last name but just her first and middle. The thought of someone here knowing her from her modeling career unsettled her, so no Sylia Rose Azelio will be said at this castle. Just Sylia Rose. Please tell me he doesn't know my work.

Still looking out at the pond, Lewis pulled up his knees and put his chin on them. Oh how he wished he had brought something along on this walk. Like a book or something. Or at least some parchment and something to write with. He could have written some more letters. Which reminded him, he still had to send his first few. As much as he himself wanted to believe it, he hadn't actually forgotten to, though. It was just...he didn't know WHICH one to send.

The girl's sigh pulled him out of his reverie and contemplating. What WAS it with that book she was reading? It looked to be quite...frustrating to say the least. Tilting his head a little so that his head was now resting on his right cheek, Lewis glanced back at her with his eyes slightly narrowed. If only he could read the book's title. That was all he needed.

I see? Lewis looked away from the book for a moment to raise his eyebrows at her upon hearing her reply. That was all? Well, this was certainly different. Everybody else had always said something like 'nice to meet you' or something. He had always wondered, how they all knew that it was in fact NICE to meet him. They usually didn't know him so. Strange. This girl seemed to share his opinion on this though. Or she just didn't bother saying so many words to him.

"I see." He echoed her previous words with a small smile playing around his lips when she introduced herself to him. Sylia it was then. His green eyes flickered up to her hair as she - almost a little anxiously? - ran a hand through it. And then with a sigh as if this was the most difficult thing in the world he finally asked what he had been wondering all along. "What are you reading?" There. She had started the whole talking thing so he got to ask questions too, right?

Sylia absentmindedly tapped the eraser end of her pencil hard onto the page she was on. To keep reading on or to stop? If she had brought her note cards with her she would be able to properly document her corrections to the argument laid out before her. Then came the dilemma of having to send these findings to her protest colleague back home. Since she finally was off to school, she had to leave her rally movements to someone else. Leaving family is one thing but leaving a group of like minded individuals who fought with you for equal rights.. it was different. Especially when she was the leader in the movement.

She snapped the book closed, now agitated with all her muddling thoughts. Reading that, dealing with the curious boy before her and her mindful duties, it was to much at the moment. Leaning to the side, she picked up her Oxford bag and tossed the book inside. Bringing a bag that had absolutely nothing in it but a few flyers was not one of her brighter ideas. She chucked the pencil inside as well before closing the bag up and tucking it behind the rock she sat upon. Maybe now she could be at peace.

No, she couldn't. The boy was still there. Staring at her. Raising a confused eyebrow, her eyes looked over him. Why was he smiling at her? Wait, was he mocking her? No man, nor boy has ever mocked her, or at least to her face. Did he have a bone to pick with her? "Fowl or Foul." She answered strongly. He probably never heard of it, though she wondered why he even cared to ask. Boys were curious things. "It's a book on Hippogriff brutality." She would be thoroughly surprised if he knew anything on the Hippogriff freedom movement going on. Then again most people didn't. Ignorance ran high right now in the magical community, much to her disappointment.

Wait, what if he did know something about it? Or maybe he would want to help change it? Flipping the hair that fell over her shoulder, her hands started rummaging once again in her bag. Taking out a slightly bent and crumpled flyer, she smoothed out the edges on her lapm tossing her bag to the side once more. 'Fight for Freedom!' the headline said in large block letters, matching well with the light blue paper. A drawn picture of what seemed like the iconic fighting lion, similar to the ones on family crests, stood a replica of the very same but with the features of a Hippogriff. Under the picture was more information about Hippogriff rights and then information about a meeting. Sylia couldn't help but bring a small smile to her lips as she traced her fingers over the Hippogriff drawing.

Shaking herself out of her little moment, she slowly got up from her rock and inched closer over to where the boy was sitting. Sylia had no idea how to go about this, so she reached out her hand towards him to hand him the flyer. "Here. In case you know anything about the Hippogriff movement." If not she just looked like a psycho.

He could sense Nessie not believing his words. After what happened he couldn't blame if she didn't believe him an turned out worried to put her trust back into him. Adam knew he would have to fix this an make Nessie feel more at ease with the situation. "I am. Really. Listen, that day at WWW, well after I went to The Three Broomsticks then I talked to Christopher James an he threw it away for me. Actually, I felt guilty about. So, as of now, there is nothing dangerous or will there never be anything dangerous on me." There that would make her feel better, right?

Although Adam had shared some of the emotions Nessie was laying out on the table at the moment, he was still hurt by her laughter nonetheless. He gave her a stern look an replied in a offended voice, "It's true, I am. I wouldn't joke about something like this. If it makes you feel better, what you're feeling right now, those were kind of my first emotions an thoughts, too." He shrugged.

The thought of him being a prefect an Nessie laughing at him lingered in his mind until Nessie spoke up in a slightly flustered voice. She was asking about a boy."What?" He asked in return, half confused, half amused. "A..boy...might like you?" He asked himself more. To be honest he wasn't quite sure, well he an Kurumi sort of just clicked from day one, though they questioned themselves an their friendship. This must've been a test of hers or something. "I guess, if he seems to tease you a lot those might be his ways of hiding his feelings for you. Or if he starts to spend extra time with you, maybe outside of class it means he's looking for you an trying to get to know you better. Another can be if he seems really interested in stuff you say, your conversations an such, an begins to like the same hobbies and interests you have he might have or is starting to have feelings for you." At least he thought, an had read in teen magazines back when he was in 'muggle land' where advice on boys or girls where written into the issues.
