Alone

Have you ever felt alone in the world,
like you just don't belong.

Breakfast the best meal of the day. Or well possibly one of the best besides snack time. Which for Asher was every two hours or less. But Breakfast was the first meal of the day, and everyone knows that it's always better for you to eat breakfast. Especially before your first day of classes.

He scanned to table wow they had every single breakfast food you could imagen except for pasta He loaded his plate down with fruit, eggs and bacon and poured a goblet full for pumpkin juice. Yes the Slytherin lad could get used to all this food everyday.

Anya skipped into the food hall place thingy. She was told she was allowed to sit where she wanted to... and she was going to take advantage of that.

As soon as she spotted someone to sit with.

She scanned the hall before her eyes landed on Asher. Brilliant! She'd sit with him.

She headed over to the green table and slid into the spot across from her friend. "Morning." she said cheerfully before helping herself to some food.

Asher looked up from her strawberry that he was about to eat. He dropped the strawberry it hit the table and rolled onto the floor. He sighed that was one of the biggest strawberry he'd ever seen.

He frowned, then he heard a familiar friendly voice, and he smiled at bit. "Good morning, Sunshine." Gee the girl was peppy even this early in the morning, like a ray of sunshine, maybe he should've given her the kick name of Sunshine instead.

"Ready for classes, yet?" He grinned after he noticed another strawberry in his bowl of fruit. He yawned if he could just wake up enough to stay awake in class.

Anya helped herself to some eggs and orange juice. YUMMMM! Hogwarts was the best! The very, very best! Even the food was magical!

Well... the food that didn't have the words 'slug' or 'cockroach' in them.

"I sure am. We have charms first." she said happily. If she was standing up, she would have twirled from excitement.

"Are you excited? Mr. Sleepyhead?" she asked with a little giggle.

Asher nommed on his strawberry and then some bacon. Yumm-o bacon. Okay now all those sugar quills from last night must have kicked in or maybe it was the excitement over charms being their very first lesson.

What? Charms was their first lesson? "We have charms first? He nearly jumped out of his seat, and drove into his bag to look for his time table. He read the time table and dropped his bacon. Okay he needed to stop dropping his food and wasting it. His eyes widen and a huge grin came to his face.

"Chrams IS our first lesson. And yes, I'm excited aren't you?" Because he was definitely excited for it. He chuckled "Nope Mr. Sandman is all gone."

Anya nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! We're going to be doing actual magic today!" And Anya couldn't wait. It was going to be amazing and brilliant and the BEST day ever!

Yeah... she was a bit excited.

"Good." she said with a nod. "You'll want to be awake for the lesson."

Asher chukcled. "Of course we get to do actual magic.... we do go to a magical school." Sure they'd do spells or charms on the first day.

"I should be fine but if you see me nodding off in class poke me." Hopefully she wouldn't poke to hard.

Wait. Hang on.

"Mmm do you know where the charms classroom is?" Because he had no clue.

Anya nodded enthusiastically. It was just amazing that their first lesson they'd be ACTUALLY performing magic.

She giggled. "I'll be sure to do that." she said with a smile. "But I'm sure it'll be too exciting to even think about nodding off."

She pulled out her schedule. "Um... third floor. Somewhere." She frowned. "I suppose we should leave breakfast early so that we find it."

It was just the mere start of his year and Matt already knew that it was going to be a challenge to be able to balance everything that he had planned, which included studying and trying to have a social life; but one way or another he knew that there was no way that he was going to give something up after having planned it out. Without even noticing, he had wandered into the Great Hall and ended up at the Slytherin table.. hmm. Might as well just take a seat dude. That really was the best idea at this point since it would look rather weird otherwise. He took a seat at the table and grabbed several pieces of folded parchment from his pocket before unfolding them so that he could attempt to look them over. Merlin only knew what was on there but.. he was about to find out.

It seemed like only a mere few minutes had passed by before Matt felt someone tap him on the shoulder, huh the last time that someone had done that it was Stella but he hadn't gotten the chance to see her ever since he was out at the duck pond. Before he even turned his head to look at who was interrupting his reading, he heard the voice and couldn't help but smile slightly; he definitely was happy to hear Dia's voice again since he hadn't seen her since the housewarming party at his apartment over the summer. "I'm good, a little annoyed by NEWTs but hey.. there's not much you can do about that. Dude, you were in Australia?!?" Whoa, that was definitely a place that he wanted to go in time but he was going to be off on a trip over the next year after he graduated.

"Whoa really? Where are they getting their place, since I live like five minutes from the Leaky Cauldron so it's very convenient when it comes time for Diagon Alley." Plus it made things pretty awesome whenever he wanted some of his friends to hang out with him, so there wasn't much of a chance for being bored. "Why don't you take a seat at the table? It's not like Ravenclaws can't sit at the Slytherin table." If that was true, there would have been major issues before but there hadn't been. It was all good dude.

India couldn't help but chuckle Matt commented at her being in Australia. "Yeah um, I live there" she admitted with a smile. "You should definitely go there if you ever have a chance - and you and Stella can always if you ever end up in Australia crash at my place its in Melbourne" she smiled.

The thought of NEWTs only made her stomach ache in nerves. She didn't want to deal with NEWTs yet. "Oh don't remind me of NEWTs - if you want to study together I'll study with you?" She offered with a soft smile. She found she was always smiling lately. Taking a seat next to him she just smiled.

"So any nice new Slytherins this term?" She asked smiling. She hadn't scoped out the fresh meat in the Ravenclaw corner but hoped they were atleast bright enough to stop losing points. The three negatives were making her wince at the idea of being there. Atleast they didn't have fifth teen negative...that was far worse.

Right where had they bought a place? "Its mid-way between Diagon Alley and Kings Cross" she admitted with a small, "Tiny little place but its not half bad actually" she smiled softly.

Nikolas was lying down on his bed with his eyes closed and thinking about a lot of stuff, in fact he was just "relaxing" taking a break before he decided what to do next. He opened his eyes and got up leaving the common room and heading to...who knows. He went straight to the entrance and even though it was a beautiful day he wasn't planning to go outside, instead he went to the Great Hall just to find Matt sitting down and reading.

Really? Reading?

Nikolas rolled his eyes and walked towards to him. "Hey Matt!" he said and patted him on the back "What's up mate?" he asked and sat down. It has been a while since Nikolas hadn't talk to him.

Whoa whoa whoa.. she lived in Australia? Dude! That gave Matt the incentive now to make sure that he visited there since he'd get to see one of his friends in the process. "Well.. I'm definitely going to find a way to come but it probably won't be soon since Stella and I are in Paris next summer, she wants to show me around a bit before she has to come back here for her last term. I'm spending the year travelling around the country which definitely should be interesting." Honestly he was really looking forward to that trip but he still had to get through whatever the term brought along with the exams and unfortunately graduation but it definitely was going to be fun.

At the mention of studying for NEWTs, he thought about her offer for a second; quickly remembering that his girlfriend had already offered to help him study since he had helped her study for her OWLs the previous term.. that was a massive adventure. "Well, I think I might need all the help I can get. I do have someone helping me out later on, but I'm sure we could always study together as well. Might be good to work with another seventh year after all." So true.

"Actually yes, I met a nice first year named Sammy; honestly he's a cool little dude. And I met one of our Prefects.. Selena, she's awesome. Plus she gave me a chocolate frog at the start of term feast so that's like a star in my books." Oh the chocolate frogs, that honestly had been one of his favorite wizard treats but never ate too many of them since the last thing that people needed to see was a seventh year on a sugar rush.

Before he had the chance to return to his thoughts, Matt noticed that Nik was sitting at the table with him and Dia; huh when did his best friend show up? "Oh not much dude, just trying to avoid dealing with NEWTs and that nonsense right now." He wanted to ask about how the conversations between him and Stella had been going since honestly the last thing that he wanted to have happen was that his best friend and his girlfriend weren't going to get along. That wouldn't have been much fun.

"You remember Dia don't you? She was at the party earlier this summer." Obviously he didn't want to ignore his Ravenclaw friend since they were still playing catch up from not seeing each other until now, as a matter of fact; he hadn't seen Nik since the summer either. Speaking of which.. he was curious about the girlfriend who he still hadn't met yet. All he knew was that she was a Gryffindor.

Nikolas mentally slapped his face when he realized Dia was there too and he hadn't say anything. "Hey Dia" he waved at her. He definitely remembered her. "Good to see you again" he told her. Nikolas heard Matt complaining about the NEWTs "I feel you, I'm not looking forward to do them next year" Nikolas shook his head "Besides I failed the Charms OWL and it was supposed to be my best subject" and he had proved them wrong.

"Soo...I talked to Stella during the feast" he winked "And I told her that you still sleep with a teddy bear and with a light on" he smiled. Of course he hadn't said that but it would have been great...just to embarrass him a bit.

Huh, so someone failed an exam? That really wasn't something that he wanted to say but Matt never expected to do perfect, just so as long as passed everything with the grades that he had needed for his future plans. "I'm starting to have the same thoughts about Ancient Runes since just the school exam last term was pretty intense." He still had to deal with that this term and of course he was going to be helping certain people study for that subject which was going to be both fun and maybe actually go well for a change since usually he ended up getting distracted.

It seemed like just as he was about to ask Nik about what had been said to Stella while he wasn't around, his best friend brought it up and couldn't help but stare blankly for a second. "Dude! I thought that was meant to be a secret!" Obviously that wasn't true but Dia didn't know that and he wasn't about to just give it away that this was just them being ridiculous.

Cody had been awake a bit too early for her taste, but she had been afraid to fall back asleep. She hadn't actually talked to the girls in her dormitory yet, as she had never been good at starting conversations. Getting out of bed was a slow process, but finally she was up and heading for the first meal of the day. What would there be to eat? The feast had been pretty good the night before, and she expected nothing much less for today.

When Cody entered the Great Hall, she saw many students already laughing and eating. She made her way to the Slytherin table smugly and sat down where there was plenty of room. She didn't want to invade anyone's space or anything... She looked up and down the table, trying not to move her head. She was watching her Housemates and seeing who she would try and be friends with perhaps? She made herself a plate of everything including pancakes, sausage, bacon and eggs. Happy with her selection, Cody started eating.

"I hate Ancient Runes, not gonna take them next year" including Arithmancy and CoMC. Ohh and Herbology. But Nikolas knew Matt was way more diligent than him and he shouldn't worry about the NEWTs, really. "So, what NEWTs are you planning to take?" Nikolas asked him.

Nikolas shrugged. "You know she needed to know the truth about his boyfriend and I couldn't lie to her with something so serious" he shook his head. He was just being a good best friend, you know? Just wait to see what he was going to do if he saw them together. And talking about girlfriends, "Just still have to meet Jade" he pointed out.

"Dude Runes aren't that bad, I mean I'm helping Stella out with study for that exam again this term." That was going to be quite interesting, since Matt knew exactly how it was going to be; probably a few distractions but all in all it wasn't going to be bad at all. When the questions turned to NEWTs again, he quickly remembered exactly what he was taking and what he wasn't going to waste time on. "I'm only taking four; Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, Muggle Studies and History of Magic. Those are the only classes that can work towards my future." That wasn't something that many people knew about but that was fine.

"Well you didn't have to tell her that man. It was a secret I told you that was meant to be a secret." He wondered exactly what his Ravenclaw girlfriend had thought of that seeing as honestly that hadn't been something that he wanted other people to know. "Just for that, I mean.. when I do meet Jade; I'll tell her a couple secrets about you. It's all fair here." A smirk quickly appeared on his face as he spoke, honestly he wanted to meet this Gryffindor girl who managed to intrigue his best friend.

As soon as Dia decided to ask him about the teddy bear, Matt merely stared at her for a second since he hadn't thought that she had heard that part of the conversation but it wasn't a bad thing. That secret had quickly become known by another one of his friends. "Yes a teddy bear and his name was Tailfin, you know like on fish and those kind of animals; I think I named him when I was five or something and I had seen some show about different kinds of fish." Honestly he couldn't remember but that wasn't important now, it was all rather silly.

"Okay, that is definitely a good point dude. It's like this apparent accent I have; well according anyone else that I've talked to that's from the area. People always wonder where I come from. And honestly I don't get tired of telling people that I'm from the US." Before he had the chance to say anything else though, he watched the Ravenclaw pick up a piece of toast and just poke it. Slytherin toast wasn't any different.

When she commented on the toast however, he couldn't help but chuckle honestly; there wasn't much that was bad around it. You just had to eat around the burnt parts. "There's other toast around here Dia, you don't want to eat a whole piece of burnt toast cause it doesn't taste very good." He knew that all too well.

India smiled softly as she heard the name of the Teddy bear. Sure, it might have fit more for a stuffed fish - but stuffed fish toys weren't easy to hold in the crook of your arm like a Teddy Bear or a stuffed puppy dog toy was....Doggie, she missed him suddenly.

"Oh cool - that's kind of a sweet name actually" she smirked running her hand through her hair. "my dog didn't have a unique name...I called him doggie" she admitted with a little bit of a laugh. Taking a sip of her water she was well, felling all together normal the taste of the toast now gone from her mouth.

All seemed well.

That quickly changed for some. The moment Matt commented about the toast she couldn't help but laugh. And having not swallowed her water yet - that was a terrible thing indeed. Within moments of the laugh starting she began to cough and then the unthinkably thinkable happened.

The water once in her mouth was now shooting out her nose. Yes, she'd done the shoot milk out your nose thing with water...

"Ewww...oh god. Sorry" she hoped no one had gotten splashed her cheeks staining red as she couldn't help but hold back the laughter quickly sopping up her face as she sat there in shock of what had just occurred.

Asher laughed. "You're right, I doubt that I'd actually fall asleep. "

Oh the third floor? That meant they'd have to leave breakfast early. But he had so much left to eat. So much bacon. "We do?" He didn't want to leave his bacon behind.
