While fiddling with her thumbs, Joanna heard a small voice saying 'hi' to her. Continuing to fiddle with her thumbs Joanna just glimpsed at the girl beside her, replied to her with a friendly smile, "Hello." at least she met someone from her house. If she would be a year older than it would of been better, she just seemed very small. 'Just because she's small doesn't mean she's another freak from the carnival' the Ravenclaw thought to herself, continuing to fiddle with her thumbs. She needs to stop reminding herself those awkward moments, they just give her nightmares.

"Ah that's cool!" He said "Looking forward to classes tomorrow?"

Orr smiled, "I'm so excited. I'm a muggleborn so all this is new to me."

she smiled at her kindly "its amazing in here" she said as she tired to be friendly

"yeah i cant wait" she said as her eyes lit up "charms should be good...what class are you looking forward to" she asked him

Adam could tell that Ellie was on the tip of her tongue to say something to him, but she stopped before concluding they will be. A part of Adam wanted Ellie to open up to him, since he felt like he opened up to her enough about all his problems, but he didn't want to pry and seem like a nudge. "Well...that's good..." Adam said with a little smile. "If you ever need to talk though, I'm here."

Adam gave Ellie a smile as she made her Quidditch remarks. "Of course...I could never ask you to root against your own house, and your own team." Of course Adam still wasn't sure what he was going to do about Quidditch...he wanted to play, but maybe it would be better to wait and see if he was going to be able to stay for more than one year before he went trying out for the team and getting comfortable. After all being apart of a team made it that much harder to leave when he had to.

Adam had been fidgeting with the one sleeve of his robe while Ellie was examining the silverware. He looked up at Ellie when she asked about the boy. "Um..yeah. His name is Paulie and he's from Beauxbatons," Adam said with a little nod of the head. "He's really nice...I could introduce you to him if you don't already know him?" Adam thought maybe if he could start introducing some of his friends, then maybe he could have a group of friends to hang out with, but if Ellie wasn't interested then he surely wasn't going to push.

"Me too !" she replied. "Are you a muggleborn ?" she asked the girl.

Beezus couldn't help but hear the conversation between Jayden and another boy, she left their group but the boy's voice was still pretty loud for her to hear ..

I don't know what happened here, but don't lower yourself into fighting with girls who are beneath you. WHAT ? Did Beatrice heard it right ? Oh, she did .. and he was clearly referring to her and Pampii.. Nerves lost, she paved her way back to her original seat and faced the boy, "We are not beneath her." she said, emphasizing the word not and her.. What did he think ? They could just look down to them for they are not purebloods ?

Chelsea noticed a boy sitting at the Ravenclaw table who looked very annoyed. Since no interesting conversation was happening at the Slytherin table she walked over to introduce herself. Hope this guy isn't rude...he sure looks annoyed she thought.

"Hi I'm Chelsea Charm first year snake. If you don't mind me asking whats going on over here?" she noticed a very arrogant pure blood. "Let me guess him right?" looking over to the pureblood and asking discretely so he wouldn't notice trying to avoid a fight. The last thing she needed was a huge fight.

"Um, y'all might want to take a breather." Mickey stated looking for Jerrod. "You don't want to start a fight this soon, plus teachers are already taking points. Besides Hun, those purebloods can't think right, being inbred and all." she said off handedly just sitting down next to the girl she randomly started defending. "I'm Mickey, Mickey Darley."

Joanna stopped fiddling with her thumbs, and examined the room by looking at the magical ceiling and at the four long tables, and after examining the hall she looked at the small girl. For a moment she just stared at her, admiring her emerald green eyes. Such a beautiful colour. Lucky firstie. "Yep, it's my first time here, and I'm pretty impressed," she with a friendly smirk on her face, running her long thin fingers through her jet black hair.

Aurora looked towards where there was an argument about wizarding blood. Why is being Pureblood so important? She wondered to herself

Cael eyed the girl who had just arrived with an incredulous expression. Hadn't he whispered that? Ah...how unfortunate. It certainly hadn't been his intention to weasel his way into other people's business. He'd merely wanted to comfort Jay, in his own strange way.

"Terribly sorry," he bowed, giving the new girl an apologetic smile. He certainly hadn't wanted to go about offending anyone. The hat hadn't placed him in Slytherin for a reason; he knew better than to shoot his mouth off. "I don't believe we've had the pleasure," Cael offered his hand hesitantly. His next words could be crucial to patching things swiftly. "Caelius Ashdown, might I also request your name? I'm quite ashamed to have upset you. I'm not quite sure what you thought I was implying but I was merely suggesting that anyone who would engage in a petty fight over a boy wouldn't be someone worth her time," he smiled sadly.

"Again, I beg your forgiveness miss, but if you heard that then you also know that I said I didn't know the whole story. I was merely sitting with another house when I'd heard my friend Jay was in trouble and came to check on her. I really want no part in your quarrel and I hope you find it within your heart to forgive me," Cael folded back into a bow, awaiting her judgment.

"Well, tell that to him." Beatrice said. This guy was seriously on her nerves and she hated being insulted. She didn't care about house points now.

But there's this girl who started talking to her. And well, someone also in her side ? She whirled around, "You're right. Nice to meet you Mick.. I'm Beatrice .. " she told the girl. At least, not an arrogant one ..

"yeah it really is amazing" she said simply "were you home schooled before you came here? she asked her as she was curious

Elliot nodded, and quickly glanced around the table. She was quite sure she was surrounded by muggleborns and half-bloods, she wanted to stop this talk of pureblood. Sure, she was proud, sure, she was cold sometimes, but she was at a new school with new people. She didn't need to make herself enemies so soon.

Last of that line? Gah. He needed to have some boys...to carry on the name. He seemed to be in the same predicament as her father. Ashdown did indeed seem a familiar name. It even sounded pureblood. She smirked in an almost nonchalant way. The he said orphaned...uh oh. Elliot didn't deal with hat stuff! Pity and compassion wasn't second nature, she didn't know what to say..or do..so she, "Oh..well...that's all right...I mean..parents aren't always..cool..." she stuttered, rather lamely. Elliot felt a weird feeling in her stomach...pity? Maybe. She wouldn't know...she had never felt that before.

"Wales! So pretty. I'm sure you live midst the most beautiful mountains!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. She loved a good natural scenery home. Hers was the same, as well. Just not in Wales.

She then peeked under the table to get a view of the ferret, Juppiter. He looked...mean. She liked him. She sat back up and smirked. "He seems like my kind of pet. I don't like cuddly pets," she replied, thinking of her crup. Moze was not cuddly at all. He was as cuddly as a dragon. She then raised an eyebrow at his last statement. She had mixed feelings about clothing. She didn't like the 'fashion' of it, it was too..well, there were more important things in life. but she did like to look good. She always very simple, lacey pieces. She had a laced robe, actually(they never wore muggle clothes). She looked at him, staring at his school robes, and cackled. "I'm sure you would be a fashion god if we were not at school!"

"Not all purebloods are like that. Trust me. I'm actually really good friends with one in Slytherin. Didn't even ask what I was. But they need to get knocked down off their high horses once and again." Mickey started to play with the uneven clumps of hair in the back.

Cael blinked. Wow, that... had really hurt. He hadn't been fighting over blood purity at all. The only thing he had recalled saying was having pride in his heritage. He didn't think anyone else was inferior, he just had a lot of pride in his parents memory. And Mickey... they'd met before, but he guessed that budding friendship had closed.

"Hello again, Mickey..." Cael trailed off sadly. "My parents are dead, but I'll be sure to pass on your sentiments the next time I visit their graves. Also I have already apologized and clarified I meant no ill feelings, so if you'll forgive me I must be going..." Cael turned away sadly, determined not to cry.

Dallin smiled a little as the prefect looked away from him. He didn't mind her thinking aloud... he agreed with her, actually. Although of course he didn't know if there were ever just elves without the 'house,' it would be sort of... interesting to find out.

"I know house elves go way back," he said kind of quietly. His next words might sound a little rude, but it was the only way he could think to phrase it. "Ya know how people bred dogs to do certain things? Like hunt and stuff? Maybe... that's sort of how house elves were started." He grimaced again at his words. They didn't sound good. "I mean, most of 'em love to serve, right? They've probably just been... brought up that way." Still, it was horrible that they were so worried about doing everything right that they would hurt themselves if they did something wrong.

"Have you ever been to the kitchens?" he asked Ivory curiously.

"Watch what you say, one day that mouth of yours will get you into serious trouble." Mickey meant it as a kind warning as if a mother was scolding her ten year old but it came out a little more of a threat. "No harm no foul." She finished before munching on some chocolate she got from her pocket.

"Pleasure to meet you Chelsea. I'm Scott Rowe" He smiled.
"You're right, causing some trouble saying he's better than everyone else because he's a pure-blood." He said, his face dropping. "Anyone with a brain knows that it doesn't change anything."
"Defence Against the Dark Arts" he smiled. "Always been interested in combat, but obviously it can be dangerous."


"Don't use that as an excuse" Scott said, his voice raising. Obviously he wasn't a threat as a mere first year but this guy had a problem.

"I heard what you said: 'Obviously we are more clever" and you are flat out wrong" Scott became angrier. "In fact, to believe such a thing you have to be very ignorant."

What was it now ? Apologizing ? Ow, really .. Beatrice stifled a a breath as she awaited the boy to finish his piece .. A long one, but yet not convincing .. She quickly interrupted him, "Would you just stop bowing ? It's .. ugh, disgusting .." It really was, bowing like that when he thinks lowly of them.

But he did not stop there. He then introduced himself, Caelius Ashdown eh ? Well, that name would be remembered. "I don't really think that introductions are even necessary now Mr. Ashdown when all you wanted to just insult us and think lowly of us non-purebloods." Beezus said slowly, controlling her temper.

And another bow, she looked away. And there, many heads were facing their direction, Beatrice didn't want to get the attention of those on the staff table, as much as she wanted to tell the boy more, she couldnt .. Instead she only told him .. "I'll let this one pass this time."






"Yeah, I kinda had that perspective. " she answered Mickey. Slytherins are the known ones to be judging , but now .. there's also a Ravenclaw ? Guess houses don't really distinguish your personality ..

"Oh come on kid, sit talk. Have some chocolate." She called out to him guilt running through her. "I'm not going to say sorry though, you really do have to watch that mouth of yours. If my brothers were around they would have givin' you a black eye." She said with a sorry and teasing smile. "I'll come with you next time. Sorry for your loss, but if you ever make a comment like that again [I]I'll[I] be the one giving you the black eye." She said jokingly.

"Pleasure to meet you too Scott" she smiled at him. "I know exactly what you mean but trust me we're not all that way. Besides there are more half bloods or muggle borns than pure-bloods anymore. And most pure-bloods have muggle somewhere in their family but hate to admit it" she explained. That was the thing that made her most angry was arrogant pure-bloods. There wasn't too many anymore but there were enough to give the rest of them a bad reputation.

Amethyst blushed softly. Her voice was very low and softly when she replied. She looked around making sure only Beezus could hear. "I-I'm a mix-blood..." Her little ears perked up slightly, then lowered back again.

Amethyst smiled, happy that she wasn't the only one who felt new to this. She was muggleborn, but she certainly was, in fact, a beginner. "I'm really ready to start taking classes!" She felt like a 'nerd'.

Aurora grinned, "me too! I really can't wait!! If you don't mind me asking you--I overheard you tell Beezus--what is mixed blood?"
