Eat, drink, and be merry, O Eagles. Classes begin again tomorrow.
The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
And what's this? The silverware is tarnished and askew, almost as if thrust on the table willy-nilly. Take a seat and search for a clean spoon while the Sorting Hat ceremony commences. The House Elves have done their clean up work quickly and effectively, and the silverware and dishes are now set to right.
Wow. Beezus just discovered that Orr was actually muggleborn. "Yeah, I can imagine how she reacted." she nodded, "I am also fond of playing computers, you know ?"
Orr was excited. Here she had found someone who also liked to do things that she liked. It made things easier to make friends. "Really? Awesome! What games do you think to play?"

Aurora looked over to the older girl sitting slightly to the left across from her. "Hi," She said, "I'm Aurora and a first year--obviously." She giggled, "you are?"
Hateya looked over at the girl with a slightly distracted smile, remembering when she'd been a first year, "My name's Hateya. I'm just starting my second year."
The distraction was due to her cup, which she'd just noticed was a little tarnished. For Hogwarts, that was unusual, and she looked over at Aurora's eating things, "Is any of your stuff dirty?"

Another friend. Yeyy ! Beatrice is feeling very happy now. A place where she really belongs, at last.

Joanna stumbled back to her house table, after visiting the Slytherin house table. She was beginning to get used to the fact that will be her new school, even though there is a vast difference in between Hogwarts and her old wizarding school in New York. Surprisingly, when you got back to the table the plates were clean, probably the elves decided to clean the dishes. The Ravenclaw sighed, she met people from all the houses except from Ravenclaw, she'll be so lonely at the nights. Joanna sighed beginning to the 'over-and-over thumb to opposite index finger movement' thinking of how will she spend ten long months at this school.
Happy to have gotten a laugh out of him, Ivory was glad to hear he wasn't an early bed person either though she did have to squash the childish urge to pipe up with a "we have so much in common" exclamation.
Stretching it seemed was like yawning. Now she felt the horrible tension in her arms and back. The horrible need to streeeetch even though the thought hadn't even entered her mind until she'd watched Dallin. Must-stretch-Gah. She settled for doing a slight arching of her back in an effort to pop it. There...much better.
"Hopefully, great as usual." she replied with nod. At least that's what she was hoping for. "I'm actually kind of hoping its an odd quirk in the spell that brings the stuff up from the tables in the kitchens. Maybe it needs a few fixing touches?" Perhaps every few years, it needed to be repeated just to make sure silverware didn't tarnish as it transported though time and space up to their tables. That made sense right? Inspecting her silverware again, she continued. "I just hope its not the house elves...." They had that horrible tendency to hurt themselves-
Speaking of the darling little things...
Turning in her chair, her elbow slightly brushing against his, Ivory pinpointed the sound of hiccups that had caught her attention.
Ears perking up as the little elf passed by with comments about being bad and slow, the brunette gave in her two cents as well.
"We're not unhappy." Smiling her brightest smile, she pointed to her face. "See look, perfectly happy. Not mad at all. You don't need to punish yourself."" Oooh, but he was doing it anyway. Wincing as he hit his head particularly hard on the table as he cleaned silverware, the Ravenclaw prefect turned to look at Dallin and shook her head sadly. "Really, it's not a prob-" But then someone had to go and say they were displeased and he was apologizing again and moving to the staff table with his little steps. "Thanks you so much!" she called out in his direction. Hopefully, he heard her.
Letting out a big exhale of breath, Ivory leaned back and examined her now gleaming silverware. " Well that answers that question."
Bringing up both her elbows on the table and cradling her face between her hands, she tilted her head towards Dallin. "I don't know about you but now I think we need to go to the kitchens not just to investigate but to make sure all the elves arn't punishing themselves."
A quirk in the spell? Dallin stared at the table, thinking about that. It was possible, yeah. Maybe going up through the floor or whatever took a toll on the silverware and they needed to be fixed every once in a while. [B]"Well, I hope it's fixed soon."[/B He didn't respond to the house elf comment, though, because suddenly one of the little things was there and Dallin was distracted.
"Oh, don't hurt yourself," he groaned, turning further around to look at the elf. He grimaced as the creature started hitting its head on the table. "Look, we're not -" But the elf was already gone, probably off to get yelled at by some more angry students.
Turning back to Ivory, Dallin nodded. "I think so too," he said with a frown. Because even if the tarnished silverware was the elves' faults, they shouldn't be hurting themselves over it. Especially since they had just come up here to fix the problem. All was well, right? With a sigh small sigh, he muttered, "I don't understand them." He knew that he was glad he didn't have a house elf, though. He wouldn't be able to stand them, with their always-helpfulness and despair when they did something wrong.
Scott sat there not knowing what to think.
Silently drinking, he prayed this would be over soon.
As she made her way to the table she felt nervous she didnt really know anyone then she saw someone he looked like a first year as well "do you mind if i sit here" she asked him with a small smile
"But it seems our punk rocker sleepover is just beginning!" Cael laughed thinking about Faina's love for black nail polish.
Spotting the boy she was looking for, Willow ran over from the Gryffindor table and jumped on his back! "Hey there Tiger!" she wispered in his ear, "How's the hunting going?!"
Giggling, she jumped back down and looked up at him grinning. "Hi Faina! Do you mind if I borrow Cael for a minute?" she said before dragging him away somewhere quiet.Turning to face him, she began. "I've been meaning to tell you something ever since we got off the train." Willow said. "I know what you told me was really personal and hard for you to say and I feel very privilaged that you feel comfortable enough around me to tell me that."
Looking straight into his moss-green eyes, she continued. "I just want you to know that if you ever need someone to talk to, or a shoulder to lean on, you know where you can come. I'll always be here."
Looking back over his shoulder at the Ravenclaw table, Willow sighed for dramatic effect. "I suppose I better let you get back to Faina!" she said, getting the giggles once more. She threw her arms around Cael and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "See you 'round buddy"
And, giving him one last smile, she started returning to her seat...
Philip squeezed Dani's hand and looked over at Presley when she came over. "Hey, Pres." He sighed. "There's nothing really wrong, I'm just.. Stressing out about starting my.. Final.. Term." He sighed, saying the word 'final' as if it hurt his throat to squeeze it out.
Presleys eyebrows pulled together in confusion. "But you will be coming back. It's not final. You're going to be teaching here...right?" Hadn't they talked about this? He wasn't changing his mind was he? Pres had been looking forward to him being a professor! She was so baffled at this sudden depression. Maybe she just didn't understand because she was so young, she coldn't imagine leaving. She'd just started. Maybe she would understand when she was a seventh year. She wanted to change the subject, it was scaring her. She wasn't used to this, and Presley loved familiarity. "Guess what? Today is my birthday!!! I'm twelve!" she said excitedly.

As Rachel saw Presley shake the present the paper ripped and it revealed the egde of the gift, it was badly wrapped and the end of it was sticking out, "I hope you like it!" it was a photo album, with pictures of her Pres and Luna, along with a friendship bracelet that changed colour to the wearers favourite colour.
"It was, ok, I suppose, we did nothing at home, my dad went away to Egypt so I was alone for most of it, he stayed there up until the day we went to the station, he told me not to leave the house, so..." she said, "What about yours?" she asked
Unwrapping the rest of the present, Presley was delighted. "Godric! It's wonderful, Rache! Thank you!" She slipped the friendship bracelet on and the color immediately changed to purple. "I love it! Thank you so much!" She opened the photo album and flipped through the pictures. It was the trio, LunaRachelPresley. So close thier names should be linked like that. "Egypt?" Presley asked. "Why didn't you go along?"

Leaning her head on her hands which placed on the table, she glanced sideways and saw Scott in deep thinking, "What's with you ?" Beatrice asked him.
He didn't understand her, she was just so changeable.
"Just getting tired now." He responded.

"Happy birthday!" Scott exclaimed out of no-where.
Presley flipped around to see the kid who'd wished her a happy birthday. "Um, thanks. Do I know you?" Not that she was opposed to making new friends, but she was uncomfortable with the fact that she didn't know this kid, and he was eavesdropping on her conversation with Philip. She was the kid that wasn't friends with many, but the ones she was friends with, were close to her. She didn't know him, and it was freaking her out.
Chloe smiled happily as she sat beside him "yeah I am" she said "im chloe by the way" she added happily
The amount of times he had to greet people this evening!
"It's nice to meet you Chloe. I'm Scott Rowe."

That was embarrassing. "Err, I don't think we've met." He was withdrawing a bit, unwillingly.
"Sorry if that was a bit intrusive, I'm Scott Rowe, First Year." He politely said. "What's your name?"

Alice silently watched the other Ravenclaw's conversations. She's been doing this for years now, seeing as this is her third year and she has no friends. Unfortunately, she was so wrapped up into watching all the others that she didn't notice she spilled some of her pumpkin juice on the person who was sitting right next to her.

With a huge sigh and a shake of her head, Ivory found she agreed wholeheartedly. "Honestly, I don't either."
Gaze following the little elves to the staff table where they seemed to be cleaning all the silverware there too, the Ravenclaw prefect voiced her thoughts out loud. "What must it be like to live to serve?" What kind of life would that be? "Sometimes I wish we had unbiased history books you know, just to find out if at some point in the past house elves weren't "house" elves." Her slim hands came up to make air quotes when she said the word house as continued. "If they were their own people, without being servants."
Her eyes straying back to his she ducked her head with a tiny near unperceivable blush. "Sorry, just thinking aloud."

So engaged in her conversation with Dallin, that Ivory didn't notice the liquid spilling on her sleeve until she felt the ever recognizable wetness seep through to her skin.
"Wha-"
Lifting her arm in confusion, she only had a split second to make the connection between her wet sleeve and the girl to her left's tipping goblet, before her own movements results in the goblet's inevitable further tilt.
"Eep-" A small sound escaped her lips as she maneuvered with a slight juggling movement in order to prevent the liquid some spilling further all over both of them. Luckily, her reflexes seemed to be cooperating today and she was able to hold the cup steady, the end result being the awkward situation of two people holding the same goblet.

"No, just a bit tired and homesick is all..." She answered with a yawn. "And as far as annoying, you're just too cute to be mad or annoyed with for too long." She blurted out, and immediately started blushing.. "Ugh. I wasn't supposed to say that..." she thought to herself. "He's not supposed to know that I find him attractive..."
Cael strode back to the Ravenclaw table with a measured, yet angry clip to his gait. He'd gone to visit his friend Faina for a matter of minutes before the snakes had started whispering about fighting at the Ravenclaw table. Naturally they had looked to him, a Pureblood, to resolve the matter; especially since it involved another Pureblood. Ugh, Jay... what was she thinking starting a fight over a muggleborn boy?
As he walked up behind her, he sighed loudly, "A little birdie told me there's been a bit of drama going on at the Ravenclaw table while I was away. Did you miss me that much, Jay?" Cael grinned facetiously, clapping a hand over her shoulder so that he could lean over and whisper into her ear.
"Leave it," he hissed seriously, "I don't know what happened here, but don't lower yourself into fighting with girls who are beneath you. Plus, you have to live with them and I can't imagine that would be very comfortable," he smiled gently, trying to soothe her probably ruffled feathers.
"Still," he shuttered his gaze speculatively, "I can't help but to wonder at the...source... of this problem," he let his gaze sweep purposefully up and down the boy beside her. Ah, so this was the one then.

"And I suppose we are a bit more clever. Obviously. And I am not really a trouble-maker...I love rules, they were made for a reason. For order in a society, we need rules, or else hooligans would all run around and cause absolute chaos." Elliot said, rather thinking aloud than anything.
Perhaps he had earned one. However, Elliot wasn't going to say so. She took out her green handkerchief(it had a silver S on it) and was about to wipe her goblet off so she could have a sip of drink, but spotted what the gift from her father actually had on it. Her heart sank at the sigh of silver S. She folded it up neatly and placed it back into her pocket. She sighed..."Better get another one," she muttered. Her father had just been so certain. She was his favorite child; she was the most like him. She didn't want to think about him hearing that his little girl had become a 'Claw. Sigh.
"Enough about me. Tell me some interesting things about yourself. I truly talk about myself entirely too much. I know I'm just so interesting and all, but really it is quite rude of me." Was Elliot actually being jest-ful? If so, one couldn't tell. But she had a little sparkle in her eyes that told the truth; Elliot, the icey pureblood, could actually be sarcastic and joking. Wow. Her mother would be proud.
"I wouldn't call myself a trouble-maker, either. Perhaps I can be a bit mischievous on occasion though," he winked. "I do think it is only natural to be proud of something so treasured in an otherwise impure world. Though we really must thank our ancestors; not like we had much say in our blood statuses anyway," Cael laughed, reaching up to stroke Jupiter who was sleeping beneath his collar.
Cael's laughter died abruptly when he saw Elliot pull out an obviously Slytherin handkerchief, very well-made. So this ran a bit deeper than just superficial disappointment. It seemed Elliot's father wouldn't be too happy about this latest development. Cael really didn't care what his guardians thought about Ravenclaw; he'd actually hoped to get Slytherin just to spite their overly-Gryffindor sensibilities...
"I can't argue there. I do indeed find you fascinating," Cael chuckled, glad that she felt happy enough to joke with him. "Myself? Hmm, well I suppose I could give you the clinical facts, at least." Pointing to himself, he began in a monotonous voice, "Caelius Ashdown. Last direct descendant of the pure and noble line of Ashdown. Orphaned at five. Lives with Marcus and Amelia Huttchins to the south of Wales. Owns one ornery ferret by the name of Jupiter and possesses the fashion sense of a God," he chuckled weakly trying to offset the seriousness of what he had just revealed in a rather flippant manner.

Gaby laughed. 'Yeah, I probably will try out. I doubt I'll get put on the team though - I'm only in my first year, after all,' she said, sounding a little dejected. Oh well - there was still flying in her free time, and lessons and stuff. 'Oh, I can just imagine you with a set of pom-poms and cheerleader's outfit,' she told Caelius with a grin. That would be absolutely priceless.
'Politics, eh? That sounds interesting,' Gaby said, intrigued. She didn't really know much about the world of politics, only that there was a lot of debating involved. She was good at debating - well, she was good at arguing, but weren't they pretty much the same thing?
A magical familiar. 'As a matter of fact, I did,' Gaby said with a grin, and ducked under the table. She re-surfaced a couple of seconds later, a fluffy white kneazle in her arms. 'Meet Draco,' she said, smiling as she stroked his cute little head. 'Did you bring one?'
"That I would," Cael laughed, referring to the cheerleader outfit. Cael gasped in pleasure as she pulled out the most pure white little kneazle he'd ever seen. "He's stunning," Cael smiled, thinking about how opposite their familiars were. Gently pulling a sleeping Jupiter out from under his collar, he showed the ebony ferret to Gaby briefly before returning it. "I'd let you pet Jupiter, but he's probably the most foul-tempered fuzz ball you've ever met and I'd hate to have to take you to the infirmary," he laughed.

Scott could hear a pure-blood talking about how much better they were than 'impure' bloods. He was sickened. He didn't say anything though, just sat there in silence and waited for him to leave. At some point he might tell a teacher, but that was for later.
