Mia groaned softly to herself. She hated when they had to do magic with their wands. Even though she hadn't had any accident for a very long time there was always the possibility that it could still happen.

Taking a deep breath she pointed her wand at her quill and began the chant;

"elhaz elhaz elhaz
z z z z z z z z z
uz az iz ez uz
oz ez iz az uz
z z z z z z z z z"

A fairly bright light emitted from her wand and hit her quill and put it agains her parchment. "Protection and magical power is now yours."

Well that had to be good, right?

Well, this he could do. Ashley hadn't really gotten all of those questions, but he'd been taking notes and was actually glad that something had come up that looked easy. It was just reading the words out of the book and doing that chanty singy thing, right?
Flipping through the pages until he found the right one, he looked through the words, pointing his wand at his quill before reading quietly after finding a good-looking rune, "ingwaz ingwaz ingwaz
i i i i n n n n g g g g
ung ang ing eng ong
ong eng ing ang ung
i i i i n n n n g g g g".

That was odd. But he could pronounce it, at least, which he couldn't quite say for all of them. What did a "dh" even sound like?? He wondered what would happen if he tried another one.

Kurumi sat in her seat very silent and still as the man spoke. Nope, nothing was making sense and might as well have gone in one ear and out the other because she really wasn't retaining anything.

She slouched in her seat, wondering what she was supposed to do next when students around her began taking out their wands and turning to pages in their textbook. Merlin she wished she had the listening comprehension that they did!

Quickly following suit, Kurumi turned the same page as everyone else and began to put the pieces together as to what they were supposed to be doing. Right, Galdr. They were practicing those. Kurumi closed her eyes for a moment and allowed her finger to wander around the page until it felt like stopping. She opened her eyes and instantly frowned, but removed the matching rune from her rune bag.

Why did she have to pick one that dealt with fire? Even if it was the gentle, more controlled form of it. Sighing, Kurumi removed her wand from its turquoise holster and set her quill in the middle of her desk.

"kenaz kenaz kenaz...ka ku ki ke ko..." she paused. Wait, that wasn't right. "...kenaz kenaz kenaz...ku ka ki ke ko...kun kan kin ken kon..." She stopped for a moment before going onto the next bit and tried not to giggle. It sounded like monkey-talk. "...ok ek ik ak uk..kaunnnnnnnnn..."

She stared at her quill...but nothing happened. Most likely because she paused. Straightening her posture, Kurumi twirled her wand in her hand a few times before giving the Galdr another try. "...kenaz kenaz kenaz...ku ka ki ke ko...kun kan kin ken kon...ok ek ik ak uk...kaunnnnnnnnn!"

Suddenly, Kurumi's quill began to glow an eerie orange colors before it BURST into flames on the spot. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!" Kurumi flicked her wand again, all ready to cast Aguamenti, when she noticed that it was burning...but not really burning. Well, it was on fire, but the fire was not turning the quill into a chard mess, nor was it ruining the desk. Kurumi leaned her elbows on the desk and watched as the flames continued to dance on her quill. It happened rather suddenly, but the delicate flames became harsher and her quill's soft appearance hardened. The flames seemed to be sucked right into the quill and its color changed to a copper tone. Startled, Kurumi poked it with her wand and it made a soft DING noise.

Well...Kenaz did create things...and strengthen...

Was she dreaming or can she really just now understand what the Professor is saying ? And boy that was amazing, he just used a rune magic to turn the door into ice, didn't he ? Maybe this subject wasn't so bad after all.

She followed his instructions and opened her book on the Galdrs. She chose the Laguz Galdr.

Beatrice held her quill on her left hand firmly and grabbed her wand on the other. Her eyes then searched the book for the incantation of the Galdr, "laguz laguz laguz l l l l l l l l l lu la li ke lo," She sounded like a blast-ended skrewt without an end, "ul al il el ol lo le li la lu l l l a a a g g g u u u l l l l l l l l l" And almost immediately a spark of light green shot out from her wand. Her quill was changing color. It turned light green then pink then red and now blue and was it dripping water ?

She was about to catch the drops from her quill with her wand when she saw that those drops that settled on her desk vanished in an instant. Beezus stared in disbelief.

Blimey, what lesson is this? Raven thought. Now, the weird professor asked them to read the strange runes.. Some students tried that. It sounds like an alien language

Then, she tried to read it.

Sierra stared right at the man's mouth as he spoke. She was trying desperately to follow along with what he was saying. Ancient Runes was hard enough. Add to that the fact that this man spoke very hard to understand English, and the result was a very confused Sierra.

She picked up on what'd he'd asked for them to do, though. Use a chant on their quill. Right. She could do that. She flipped through her book then skimmed through the chants and what each one would do. Finally, she found one she thought would work perfectly on a quill.

With Nauthiz in her left hand and her wand in her right, she pointed her wand toward her quill.

There. She thought using a rune that stood for achievement was perfect for casting on a quill. Now, she'd make sure to use this quill on all her homework assignments and exams. Heh.

That was amazing and...incredible! Tiffany was shocked by the spell that the professor had just spoken.She couldn't wait to use one of them. She did what the professor asked them to do. Finally she chose one of the spells and was ready to give it a try.

Tiffany took out her wand and pointed at the quill.

Of a sudden, there was a green light sparkling, seemed like it was coming out from the quill. Soon, she opened a new chapter of a book of a randomly picked subject. She used the quill and tried to answer the questions which she hadn't learnt yet. She tried and wrote and...it was magical. She could write very smoothly with this quill. "Woww,"she thought to herself in some kind of disbelief.

Opening her book, Erin looked for the best meaning that could possibly apply to her state of emotions as of the moment. The spell Professor Christiansen uttered was inaudible. Erin took her wand and tried a spell, a good luck spell.

"dagaz dagaz dagaz dh dh dh dh dh dh dh dh dh d d d a a a g g g a a a z z z du da di de do dh dh dh dh dh dh dh dh dh odh edh idh adh udh od ed ud ad ud d d d a a a g g g a a a z z z," muttered Erin, laughing after doing this. She looks stupid, sounded stupid. At least, all of them are doing this.

A light came out from her wand directing to the quill. The effect would definitely happen soon. She smiled.

Jonathan blankly stared for the fifth time now. His eyes blinking but his mind completely and utterly blank. What did he just say right now??? Jonathan had no idea with the first thing he just said. All he knew was that he showed them the Isa spell. Jonathan frowned and tried to look around.

He was about to ask the person beside him what the professor had just ask but looking from what some of the students are doing, it seems that they have to do an incantation and it is found in the book.

Jonathan opened the Runes book and tried finding the exact page of their current lesson. Galdr. Galdr. Galdr. Ga-----aaa---llll----drrr... Oh! He found it. "here it is." he mumbled. Incantation.

Jonathan tried the incantation out. Everyone seems to be doing it, chanting the fe fuh fah whatever. He looked at the exact chant in the book.

Jesifur looked through the book and picked a galdr. She read it over a few times before she felt comfortable saying it aloud. She removed most of her belonings from the desk and left only the quill. Speaking in a low voice to the quill she began.

wo we wi wa wu
w w w u u u n n n"

She felt a little silly speaking to her quill, but considering everyone else was also...
She hope she said the galdr correctly.

Jenny blinked. They were going to chant?! That sounded embarrassing, but she looked into the book of galdrs anyway. As soon as she found an interesting one, Jenny pointed her wand at her quill. She squinted her eyes a little.

pPerthro perthro perthro pu pa pi pe po..." Gosh, this was so embarrassing! "...purdh pardh pirdh perdh pordh po pe pi pa pu p p p e e e r r r th th th r r r o o o" She opened her eyes to see if anything happened to her quill.

Nothing. Jenny gave a small sigh. Best not to prolong her torment any further...so she started over.

Soon a small light flew from her wand to her quill. What was she supposed to do now? Slowly Jenny reached for her quill and wrote down on her parchment. The sentence she wrote down was not one she had in mind, though.

"You will find your lost beloved grandparents in a faraway mountain," it said in small fine print.

Jenny blinked. Did that mean that the galdr worked?

Kourtney hesitantly looked at the professor and then at her wand...then to her quill. And she thought Arithmancy was difficulty...

She opened the book to the indicated section and began to read about each rune, soon picking out one that seemed suitable. Nauthiz, the rune of success and achievement.

Placing her quill down, she raised her wand in one hand, rune in the other. Pointing the wand at the quill, she chanted.

She had to move slowly, for some of the words tripped her up, and so it wasn't really much of a chant than it was a slow, drawn out reading.

Nothing.

She tried again, repeating the chant a little faster, still pointing her wand at the quill.

Finally, a light flashed from the end of her wand and hit the quill. Fantastic....now what would this cause the quill to do? She picked up the writing utensil and looked at it closely, trying to discern any difference made from the spell.

"Ya! You are all doink vonderfull!" He exclaimed. "Homevork." He said and nodded. "Do ze same sink. Find somesink you vant and use ze runes to help you achieff your goals. Is due vonn veek from today, and you vill get tventy points." He said. "Class dizmisset."

ooc: Do the same thing, find an object, and use a rune on it to help. Due one week from today and worth 20 points.

Eino flipped through his book to find a spell to cast, but he liked the ice one he wanted to do that one too. He took a different quill from his backpack, he always carried two, and placed it on top of the desk. Eh, on second thought he wanted to try a different rune galdr, the sun one, sowilo. He held the rune on his hand, the same hand he was holding his wand, then checking the book he chanted. "Sowilo sowilo sowilo s s s s s s s s s s s s o o o l l l su sa si se so sul sal sil sel sol us as is es os si se su sa su s s s s s s s s s!" That was a long chant... A bright light formed on the tip of his wand, which resembled the Wand-Lighting Charm, but instead of blue the light was yellow, bright like the sun. Then, the light lowly detached from the wand and landed on the quill. The light was absorbed into the quill and then it spread, until the entire quill was shooting bright rays of sunlight. Eino hovered his hand over the quill and the quill was also emitting warmth. It was awesome!

Eino then looked up at the man and paid attention to the homework assignment. He couldn't wait to try more of these! He had no idea runes were so much fun, usually all they did was read them and write in them, and divine the future, but this was so much more fun! He wrote the homework down, then packed his belonging. "Thank you." He nodded at the man and waved.

That was quick. Jenny thought they would have to do more work than that. It even seemed like the homework was going to be no problem as well.

"Thank you for the lesson, Professor." Jenny nodded as she picked up her things and headed for the door. Today seemed like a good day after all.

Alyssa was glad that the class was over. It was starting to sound kind of funny, hearing everyone make those chanting gladrs. "I bet I sounded stupid too,"Alyssa laughed to herself.

Picking up her quill, which still looked normal, she walked over to the Professor. "Thank you for a very interesting lesson, Professor. I look forward to your next one." With a smile, Alyssa left the class.

Still tapping her wand against her now copper quill, Kurumi ceased doing so when she heard Professor Viking speak again. Why did it seem like her and Caroline were the only ones not understanding what he was saying? Kurumi looked around as a few students packed up their things and began writing something down on their parchment. Kurumi leaned over towards the nearest person to see that they were writing down the homework. Oooooooooooooh, good to know.

Kurumi listened carefully and cross-referenced her own notes with the person next to her. Once she was sure she had it down right, Kurumi also began packing up her own things, leaving her copper quill last.

Slowly, she stood up and bowed towards the man who she was still sure came with the ship for last term. "Thank you for the lesson, Professor," she said rather awkwardly before shoving her copper quill in her bag. Maybe...she could figure out how to reverse the effects of the rune spell during her assignment.

With another small nod of the head, Kurumi made her way out of the classroom.

That's it???

Class was dismissed in such a short time. Jonathan still couldn't believe it. Which one was shorter the Muggle studies lesson or this lesson? Jonathan smiled as he heard the professor. At least now, they get eat early.

"Good bye Professor" he bowed to the professor and left the classroom. Off to the great hall.

Class was dismissed...so soon.. - okay then

"Thanks for the interesting lesson Professor, see you next time", said Penny as she gathered up her belongings and stuffed them into her bag..."Going to build a snowman, Going to build a snowman, Going to build a snowman, Going to build a snowman.", she hummed to herself as she left the room, with a smile on her face.

"Thanks for the interesting lesson, Professor,'' Jory said as he ran to catch up with Penny and find out about the Muggle Studies Homework.

Homework and Class Dismissed. Hah. She was relieved that the lesson was now over. Glad too. She walked towards the door of the Classroom and bowed slightly upon passing the Professor, "Thank you for the lesson Professor," she said as she beamed at him.

Evelyn was going to do the little activity, but as she was flipping through her book, reading through the different galdr's, she became quite distracted...with her twirling quill. And then she thought if she twirled it harder, then...

Wait...

Wait, class was dismissed?

Looking around, the Slytherin blinked and slowly closed her book, seeing that others were already leaving. Oops? Packing up her things, she stood up and went to the door. "Goodbye Professor Christiansen." she nodded politely and decided to wait outside for her friends to leave instead.

Done? The class is over? It seemed so short! Well, shorter, the better for Ira!
The homework seemed easy enough for 20 points.
"Thank you and Goodbye professor!" she bade her professor. She really wanted to tell him to improve his accent...But she controlled her tongue!

WHAT THE.....

But, Thank God, the boring lesson was dismissed.


"Thanks sir." said Raven calm.

What the heck 'some sink' was supposed to mean? Louisa had the urge to laugh but she contained herself and merely shook her head - a girl's imagination could lead her to her doom. yes, she'd just come up with this saying.

"Thanks, professor." Her tongue almost pronouncing 'Sanks' but instinct prevails. Phew. The girl grabbed her bag after stuffing the textbook and parchment in then skipped out of the class.
