Why were so many bad things happeing lately. Nessie didn't get it, it was like as soon as she felt she was ready to be happy something else would make her upset again. At times she felt as though she deserved all the sadness but at other times she just wished it would all go away. She knew she just had to stay strong no matter what was going on, it was the only way she would survive. The thought of going to therapy over the holidays was not really exciting, although she knew it would be best for her and it would help her when she went back to her old home, to visit her best friends grave.
The girls dormitory had become boring and stuffy, so Ness walked down the stairs into the common room hoping to find some sort of company besides for Puffles that seemed to be snoring away on her shoulder. She looked around the room looking for no one in particular, but when she spotted a familiar face a huge grin lit up on her face.
Walking closer to the familiar face, she noticed that Damien didn't look like his usual self. Ness frowned a little at this, she didn't like Damien upset. If something was wrong she wanted to fix it. Now that she thought of it, she hadn't seen him in like forever and a lot could have happened since the last time they had seen eachother. "Damien!!" she said softly not wanting to attract attention. She gave him a big hug and then pulled back. "Whats wrong?" she asked with a really concerned face. | The argument betwixt the younger Hufflepuffs wasn't all that hard for Damien to drown out. With in minuets of their unfurling drama, the boy dug in his newly acquired messenger bag for the small, red lether bound book he purchased in Daigon Alley this past Summer Holiday. A few passages of information had caught his attention and had been underlined, circled boxed -- anything to draw Damien back to those words to get his mind chruning again.
Not that he wanted it to do so --
And then someone spoke his name. None of the first-year dramatics knew who he was and the female voice could only belong to one of three he knew form his house. Turning up from his book he saw Ness' arms wrapping around him, Damien still in his seated position in the chair. He smiled and hugged her back as the book sat in his lap.
Leave it to the sweet Hufflepuff to ask him what was wrong. The girl put everyone before herself. Damien had to give her credit -- he'd never been like that for anyone. Even Isobel. With somethings, sure -- she always came first. But nine times out of ten, Damien wouldn't really notice whose feelings were being put first and whose were getting left behind.
"I haven't seen you in a while," he commented, Irish accent very noticeable. "And you're already trying to fix what's wrong." Damien smiled up in her direction before closing the book and putting it back in the messenger bag. "With me, my dear," he began, "What's wrong with me is always the usual -- and I'm not quite sure I'm ready to let you in on all that yet."
Probably not the kindest thing to say to her, having not seen or spoken to her in quite a while. But Ness and Damien really did have a knack for having good conversation. He trusted her.
But he didn't want to scare her. |
