Gryffindor Study Tables
|
Chris sat down in his seat and began his History of Magic homework. He was sitting for an hour before he was done. His homework is done so he went to his dorm to go take a nap. |
Heather only sighed as she took a seat in the study tables. The last time she sat on such tables, she was writing a letter back home; but now, she was to really study. Homework had piled up so much. Her doll, Mr. Panda trailed behind her, carrying her books for her. She took them and plopped it all down on the table and lifted her doll to sit on the empty chair beside her. She needed some moral support to see all this homework through and all the moral support she can get for now is with her moving panda doll. Well, at least her runes homework was done. no problem about that. Now she had to do her Arithmancy, History of magic and Care of Magical creatures homework. Whoo-pee-doo. This won't be easy. She looked at her watch. "Better get started, this homework won't do itself for me anyways.." She said and the doll nodded at her. She opened her books, took out her parchments and quill and began working. |
Nika had just finished reading the announcement board in the common room. She was not very happy with what she saw. Not only was there the usual homework, but there was also one very unusual assignment posted as well. From her new DADA "Professor". She hadn't ever met the guy, but he sure sounded mean. They had to do physical exercise!?! REALLY?!?! Sigh. She looked at her list of things to do and let out a groan as she read each one out loud. "Number one: Run 8 km?!? WHAT? Why??" Groan. She moved to the next one on the list and her jaw just about dropped. "100 minutes of meditating about a proper role model!? But that will take forever!" Groan. "50 Front rolls?! I'm never going to get through this year! And it's only my second one!" Groan. She rolled her eyes as she went down the list and finished at "Singing! YAY! That's the only one I'm going to enjoy." She sings normally anyways so it doesn't make much of a difference for her. She knew that it would take a while to do, especially since they had to keep a journal. Great. Just great. She sighed as she read the one about meditation. "I guess I could do that now?" A hundred minutes is just so long! What if she splits it up into groups of twenty? Is she allowed to do that? She thought about who she considered as a role model. She thought about this for a very long time before concluding with the answer. "Rex." She said once out loud to confirm it. "Yeah I think Rex." And so the meditation begins. Wait. "How do I meditate?" She thought about those TV shows she'd seen where monks sat with their legs crossed over each other and made weird noises. Okay worth a shot. Nika imitated the monks she had seen on TV as she hummed "Oooooommmm" over and over again. She thought about Rex and how he did so many things. 'Not only did he graduate Hogwarts last term with great marks, but most of the professors liked him. He was nice to everyone including some of the mean snake girls who made fun of him. He took his time to teach me how to dance and he was really patient with me.' The more she thought about him the more saddened she grew over the fact that he wasn't at Hogwarts anymore, but she still kept going even if it was with tears in her eyes. "OOOooommmm." After what seemed like a good amount of time she checked her watch. It had only been 50 minutes. Which meant 50 more minutes to go. "Ugh. This. Is. Going. To. Take. Forever." With a sigh she continued. "OOOOOOoooommm." Meditation is harder than it seems. Especially for a twelve year old with the attention span of a squirrel. "Oooommm." She checked her watch once more and after what seemed like forever the 50 minutes were up. "YES!" But then she remembered she had to record this stuff in the journal. Hmph. What a JOY. And with that she began writing. |
Zara decided it was time to finish homeworks. Besides the DADA one, she still had CoMC. Yup, drawing. Zara sighed as she sat on one of the chairs and placed her bag and parchments on the table. Taking out her inks and quills from the bag, she began to imagine how she would draw Lady Rosamund. Really, though, draw her? Zara couldn't even think that Lady Rosamund would be justified with a photograph. What more if it was in drawing? She couldn't do it, the sphinx was too perfect. What if she got mad at her if she couldn't draw her properly...or perfectly. Oh well. Better make it anyways. Zara went on with a few strokes of the outline first as she sketched away. |
Nika is back. Yes back to mediate. Well the meditating is boring, but making the funny noises is fun! YES very fun! And Nika loves fun! Who doesn't love fun? She hopped up on a chair and climbed up onto the table. Crossing her legs she began to mediate. Now this time she needed a different role model to meditate on. Hmmm... Who inspired her growing up? Well.... OH! There is this one show she used to watch on TV all of the time! Even though it's an extremely old television show from when her great great great great great (and many more greats) grandma was a little kid it was still a good show. Her parents always showed her the tapes growing up. They would find it online and show her using the computer too. It was about this bald little boy who had puppets for friends or something like that. His cat would talk too. They went on adventures and did some cool things. Nika loved the show and the bald little kid. Caillou. THat was his name. Caillou. The bald little boy who could make the most boring day fun with his imagination. That's why she thought of him as a role model. Because he was always there to make rainy days fun. "OOOOOOOooooooommmmm" And that's why she was meditating about him. |
Chris sat down at a study table and got our his herbology book and began to do his homework. Chris got his quill and paper and then began to write about the three categories of water plants. "Hmmmm. Oh! Floating plants is one!!!!!" Chris said. After about 20 minutes of writing, he was done. He got up and walked up to the dorms. |
Ariella organized her books into piles on a study table. She grabbed her Herbology textbook, a blank piece of parchment, and a quill with ink. Hmm....what were the three divisions are water plants? |

Ronnie walked to an empty study table, where no one could see what she was doing. She was still crying, but softly this time. She didn't want anyone to notice her, she didn't want to bother anyone else's work. She took out a piece of parchment and quill, and wrote a letter to her brother, Rupert Weasley. Dear Rupert, I feel very alone right now, no one seems to notice me at school ever since I heard the news about dad. I feel very lonely, the only company I ever seem to get is Scabbers...and a few fellow Gryffindors have talked to me. When I heard the news about dad, I was terribly sad and don't know exactly what to do. I just need someone to talk to and I thought of you. Please right back. Love, Ronnie Weasley Ronnie folded the letter and went to find her brother Ben to use his owl (Poppy) to send the letter, since she didn't own one. |

magic tricks anyone? <3 Kurumi sat down at one of the study tables with a deck of cards, still in their box, in her hands. Sighing softly, Kurumi took the cards out and laid them down on the desk. Considering that they were a rather new desk, Kurumi found them to be rather stiff and unfriendly - especially with such serious faces on the King and Queen cards respectively. She had never been taught how to perform the bridge form of shuffling cards, so she instead shuffled them around on the desk and then attempted to put them back in some sort of pile when she was done. Muggle magic tricks...she knew a handful thanks to her brothers. The one that she was particularly interested in trying out had been one that her oldest brother had used on her to trick her into doing his chores for him. Not that she wanted to trick her housemates or anything, but she did find the trick to be a cute one. Her brother called it the Ryunosuke Hokum. Tapping the cards n the table, Kurumi wondered if anyone else was interested in trying out some slight of hand... |
Quote:
Playing cards... Groan. He had almost forgotten about History of magic class, or whatever the joint class was or had called. "Hey Kurumi, what's up?" he asked at first, a soft friendly smile on his face as what usually graced his expression around friends. "Looking to do Professor Cerulean's homework?" |
Quote:
"I was thinking about it," she nodded with a slight chirp to her tone. "Care to pick a card?" She fanned out the cards for him to pick one. |
Quote:
"Sure...why not?" he asked rhetorically as he accepted the task at hand. The seventh year mulling over his choice of the fanned cards before finall chosing one out of the group on his left. As he turned it over to face him and not Kurumi, it revealed the 3 of diamonds. |
Quote:
"If you have it memorized, you can place it on the bottom of the deck," she smiled as she offered him the deck. "The very bottom if you will." |
Quote:
"Alright...what's next?" he asked offering the deck back to her. |
Quote:
Kurumi's eyes focused on the cards looking for one in particular... |
Quote:
|
Quote:
...king of spades...seven of hearts...jack of hearts...two of clubs...9 of clubs... Kurumi bit her lower lip and flipped over the next card. ...3 of diamonds... Focussing a bit more, Kurumi continued to flip over card, about five or six more, before she stopped and her hand rested on the deck of cards in her hand. "How much to do bet that the next card I turn over it yours?" she giggled as she used the exact same words that her brother had every time he performed this trick. |
Quote:
Simon continued to watch as card after card was turned over. He occasionally caught sight of Kurumi looking up at him as he did her and only offered a slightly raised eyebrow in response as if curious as to what her observances would pick up from him. Finally his card showed up and he did his best to show no outward signs of acknowledgement to slip up and reveal its identity. An event he felt he succeded in seeing as Kurumi continued to flip over cards . The question however took him by surprise and he tried to think of a way to answer. "A chocolate frog," he offered playing it safe and picking the first thing that came to mind. |
Quote:
Smiling, Kurumi set the deck down on the desk and turned her attention instead to those lying in a pile on the desk. Her eyes scanned for the 9 of clubs and, when her eyes found it, a smile appeared on her lips and she reached for the card resting on top of it, the 3 of diamonds, and flipped it over. She looked up at Simon with a triumphant grin on her face. "I do believe that you owe me a chocolate frog." |
Rose sat down and waited for Ronnie to meet her here... |
Quote:
"Wait...how did you?" Simon questioned in almost disbelief before shaking his head with a chuckle. "Good one...you'll have said frog," he assured her with a smile. |
Quote:
Having finished dealing with the cards, Kurumi set them in front of Simon. |
Quote:
The older lion looked to the offered deck before picking it up in his hands. "Guess its my turn," he mused, absently shuffling the cards as he tried to think on a trick he himself could do. Unlike Kurumi, he didn't have much experience with it growing up, but he had looked over options both in class an dafter, he just needed to chose one to attempt. |
Quote:
Seeing Simon pick up the cards, Kurumi leaned her elbows on the table and then rested her chin in her hands as she waited for him to begin. |
Quote:
"Alright, I'm going to make a prediction or reading while not looking at any of the cards," he informed his companion as he finally started the trick while finishing up his shuffling. He then held the deck behind his back as if to emphasize the fact he wasn't gonna look. While in that position, he descretely flipped the top card over and rested it face up on top. |
Quote:
Bringing her attention back to Simon, she watched carefully as he began to perform. "What sort of prediction?" Like...telling the future? |
Quote:
"Uh huh...a prediction of the card that will appear from the deck when I show it to you," Simon confirmed with a nod before closing his eyes. The seventh year pretending to focus as if trying to read the card he was to show in the next step by some sort of psychic energy rather then sight. "Now I believe the card to be the king of hearts..." he predicted bringing the deck back out front facing the bottom card...a 9 of clubs...towards Kurumi. while the card Simon had sneakly turned over behind his back, an ace of diamonds, was unknowingly to his companion facing him. His expression of confidence as he remembered reading was pivotal. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
Her skepticism was only confirmed when Simon announced that the first card was the king of hearts when it was, in fact, the 9 of clubs. "Um...no..." Kurumi said raising an eyebrow. |
Quote:
"Must have been a mixed up signal. Let me try again," the seventh year commented, closing his eyes once more and concentrating harder as evident by the longer time. This time he moved the propped up ace of diamonds to the position in front of the 9 of clubs. "Alright I see the next card as a ace of diamonds," Simon said speaking his prediction aloud as he turned the deck once more to face Kurumi. This time though with the correct card in front and facing the third year. |
Quote:
Kurumi eyes widened and a soft gasp escaped her lips. “Y-yes…” she said slowly. There was still a chance that this was nothing more than a lucky guess, so Simon was going to have to predict a few more cards before Kurumi believed. Her brain began to analyze his movements even more. |
Quote:
"Care for another demonstration or are you satisfied?" he asked with a small smirk. The second card he had flipped over as directions stated already in his mind for a repeat performance just in case. |
Legend felt like he was going crazy. Absolute bonkers really. The seventh year ran a hand through his now extremely long hair. If he had known how much he really had to study for NEWTs he probably would have cared earlier in the term. But now he was stuck, cramming as much information in all subjects as he could. At the moment his attention was totally devoted to History of Magic. |
Thea had been tucked in the corner for at least an hour. Was this some sort of joke? She had been pouring over the stupid clue for foreverrr. Oh, and not forgetting homework aswell. Sigh. Flicking her wand at the parchment, a few aprks emitted from the tip. 'Whoops..' She muttered before quickly wafting at them with her hand. This was to hard.. and it was making her head hurt. |
Well. He couldn't avoid him forever. He had to fix things before the term ended. Orlando slowly approached his ex-friend. It was awkward. It was bad. It had his stomach in knots ten times more than when he had met up with KT. It had been stupid to avoid Legend. They were in the same House. They crossed each other in the common room, all the time. Not to mention, they slept in the same dormitory. Stupid, as always. Like always, the boy pressured himself into a guilt trip - and perked up enough courage to speak. "Hey Legend .." |
Quote:
"Please," she said innocently. |
Quote:
So the Goblins met in Hogsmeade in 1962 to have tea in Hogs Head so they could plan a rebellion! "No!" As his eyes fell back on the paper, Legend literally hit himself in the head. "It was the Three Broomsticks." This studying was going to be the dead of him. As a voice broke his thoughts Legends head shot up. Orlando! "Lando!" The seventh year jumped up and pulled the other boy into a hug. |
He did not deserve it yet the older boy had pulled him into a hug. Orlando did not remember the last time, he had felt this bad. Reluctantly, he rose his own arms - hugging the blond boy back. "I am so sorry, Legend" he choked out, realizing tears were falling down his cheek. All the guilt he had been trying to avoid hit him full on. "I acted so stupidly .. I acted so wrong .." he forced out, blinking away tears that fell. |
Quote:
"What do you wager I can name the correct card once more?" he asked figuring to make it like she had with her own trick. Just a little interesting. |
Woah. Orlando was crying. Legend dropped his arms before resting one on Orlando's shoulders. "Lando, don't." Orlando was crying. That was horrible. "I was wrong. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said I didn't want to be friends. You were only trying to look out for Katie. You...you did good." He grinned. It was a sleep deprived, tried grin, but it was a grin nonetheless. Really, he just wanted all his friends to be okay. Like they were before. But a lot of things were ruined now and he hated that. It needed to be fixed. |
Quote:
"A chocolate frog," she smiled. Worst case would be that neither of them would be giving out a chocolate frog to the other, right? |
It was foolish. It was sad. Orlando laughed awkwardly, when he realized that tears were falling. Wiping them away immediately - the boy nodded, glad to hear Legend say he was wrong to propose the idea of them being not friends. "I am s till sorry for punching you .." he tried again. He wanted to keep apologizing. He really did. "I was. I just .. it all just went to my head I think .. everything that was happening. You guys were just falling apart. I hated that. I did it .. cause even your friendship, our friendship - it seemed to have been crumbling." |

Finally the captain brought them back around front to show the younger Gryffindor again. "I see the six of spades..." he predicted showing the card which was in this case the same card he spoke of. The trick was learned and executed correctly once more. |

Legend signed. "Me and Katie are better. We're sorry for the whole friendship thing. And I'm sorry that you felt so bad." It really was (half or even more than that) his fault. |
Ronnie walked to an empty table, and began writing a letter to her brother. She kept thinking about her dad, and needed someone to talk to. Hopefully he would talk to her and understand how she felt. She began writing...... Rupert I've been thinking about dad lately and have been very sad about it. I need someone to talk to, and you're the only one I feel comfortable talking to, other than mum. I just don't understand why dad would kill someone, he's not that kind of person. I'm really confused and want to know how the family is up there. Thank you for reading this. Ronnie She smiled to herself, and folded up the letter and headed to get a school owl to send it. |
