Twenty-four hours later, it was time for another Quidditch match on a pitch that looked rather worse for wear after the Hufflepuff-Ravenclaw game. Wearing thick, waterproof boots, Professor Vindictus's boots made loud squelching sounds as he trod through the mud to the center of the field.

"Welcome to today's match between arch-rivals Slytherin and Gryffindor!" he announced to the crowd. It was common knowledge that there was no love lost between the two houses. "Everyone - on your feet as both teams take to the pitch!"

The gates creaked open and for a brief moment, all 14 athletes stood in shock - instead of green grass to greet them, there was mud. Lots of mud and not a green blade of grass in sight. At the center of the pitch was a massive mud puddle that shimmered in the sun. After the initial shock sunk in, they finally kicked off and took to the air. For ten minutes, they warmed up amongst the cheers before settling into position overhead.

Vindictus checked the rosters and nodded his approval, then tucked them into his robe pocket. The Bludgers and Snitch were released into the air, and he joined the athletes in the sky.

"I want a clean game from both Houses. Remember to play your positions and try not to seriously maim each other," he said. "Ready? On my whistle . . . one . . . two . . . TWEET!"


He threw the Quaffle into the air and the Chasers zoomed into action.

Its a blur of green and red as the Chasers fight over possession of the Quaffle . . . pushing and shoving ensues . . . growling and hissing is heard punctuated by a few piratey ARRRRR's . . . suddenly, a figure in green breaks free of the scrum with the Quaffle . . . Kimalia Fanster tucks it under her arm and zooms down the pitch . . . she dodges a Gryffindor defender . . . Fanster passes to Emma Malfoy . . . Malfoy makes the catch and zooms ahead . . . she enters the scoring area . . . Malfoy raises her arm and she shoots . . . DING! Emma Malfoy scores the first points of the game for Slytherin!

Morets dodges a Slytherin defender and passes to Ariella Adler . . . Adler makes the catch and zooms forward . . . she passes to Selina Skylar . . . Skylar makes the catch and enters the scoring area . . . she raises her arm and she shoots . . . THWACK! Evelyn Flores uses a mighty sweeping motion of her broomstick and swats the Quaffle away from the right goal hoop.

Malfoy makes the catch and zooms ahead . . . EEEEEEEEEEE! A red and green blur shoots across Malfoy's path and she's forced downwards . . . she pulls up and regains altitude . . . EEEEEEEEEE! CRACK! Sierra Greingoth raises her bat and swings . . . the Bludger heads directly towards Gryffindor Captain Simon Bennett and knocks him off his broom . . . he lands face-first in a muddy puddle and sits up shaking his fist at the Slytherin Beater . . . Malfoy enters the scoring area . . . she raises her arm and she shoots . . . THWACK! Josh Carter swoops down and makes a spectacular diving save! As Bennett rejoins the game in the air, his foot knocks a golden object towards the stands . . . .
