The cold winter was now a memory as the first signs of Spring were bursting forth in color all around - the grass was becoming greener, leaves on trees were opening up to the sun, and tiny flower buds were on the verge of blooming. Overhead, the skies were a brilliant blue with a few fluffy white clouds that resembled cotton balls. The stands were packed with fans as they eagerly anticipated the start of one of the most hostile Quidditch matches of the year. Would this year's game live up to tradition?

Looking resplendent in his officiating robes, Professor Vindictus strode out onto the pitch and flashed his pearly whites to the crowd before speaking. "Welcome to today's match between Gryffindor and Slytherin!" he announced in a magically amplified voice. "The rivalry between these two houses is legendary and I'm sure we won't be disappointed. The winner of this match will play Ravenclaw and the loser will unfortunately be regulated to the stands for the remainder of the season. Now here are your teams!"

There was a loud creaking noise as the gates opened to reveal the teams standing at the ready. Suddenly, a loud swooshing sound was heard as they took to the skies. The crowd roared to life as the players zoomed around the pitch for fifteen minutes before settling into position overhead.

"I want a clean game from both houses and do your best to remember Headmaster Tate's golden rule - don't die," the Deputy Headmaster and Official said, and then released the Bludgers and Snitch into the air. "The game begins with a penalty against Gryffindor for submitting a roster change after the deadline, and Slytherin receives ten points." He let that sink in for a brief moment and then continued.

"Remember to play your positions. Good luck. Ready? On my whistle . . . one . . . two . . . TWEET!"


The Quaffle was thrown into the air and suddenly there was blur of green and red as the players zoomed into action.

Wattsfay zigzags past a Gryffindor defender . . . she raises her arm and passes laterally to Hyun Kim . . . he makes the catch and zooms forward . . . Kim dodges a determined Gryffindor defender and makes a quick pass to an open Aaron Anderson . . . he makes the catch and enters the scoring area . . . Anderson raises his arm and he shoots . . . DING! Slytherin Captain Aaron Anderson scores for Slytherin!

Carter Phillips retrieves the Quaffle and he puts it back into play . . . his pass is caught by Patroclus Hudson . . . Hudson tucks it under his arm and zooms down the pitch . . . he swerves past a Slytherin defender who tries to trip him . . . Hudson raises his arm and passes to Simon Bennett . . . Bennett makes the catch and zooms forward . . . he enters the scoring area . . . Sierra Greingoth gets into position, her eyes focused on the Quaffle . . . Bennett raises his arm and he shoots . . . THWACK! With a mighty sweeping motion of her broom, Sierra Greingoth knocks the Quaffle away from the center goal hoop and narrowly misses taking out the Gryffindor captain.

The Quaffle sails through the air and it's caught by Taylor Wattsfay . . . she tucks it under her arm and zooms down the pitch . . . EEEEE! EEEEEEEE! A dark grey object is heard screaming as it zooms towards a moving target . . . the Beaters zoom into action and Wattsfay is forced to get out of the way . . . EEEEEE! Wattsfay finds herself precariously close to the side of the stands and she looks for an open Chaser . . . she releases the Quaffle and zooms away from the stands . . . Aaron Anderson reaches out and makes a one-handed catch . . . EEEEEEEEEEE! He finds himself too close to the action and zooms away . . . the Beaters raise their bats and swing . . . CRACK! Freya Salvatore of Slytherin crushes the Bludger with her bat and the hit knocks Lucy Smith of Gryffindor from her broomstick . . . Anderson enters the scoring area . . . he raises his arm and he shoots . . . Carter Phillips reaches out . . . DING! Aaron Anderson scores for Slytherin! As Philips goes to retrieve the Quaffle, his foot kicks a golden object out of the shadows and it darts towards the center of the pitch . . . .
