Hand moving quickly across the journal page, she quickly jotted down the different poisons being mentioned. Most of them were pretty straight forward but whenever Lafay elaborated on a point, Ivory made sure to add that into her notes as well. At least that's what she was doing until the Professor asked an unlikely question. A question that rattled the door on a certain closet of memories hidden deep in the recesses of her mind. A door she rarely if ever opened lately. Almost unconsciously, her head gave a tiny imperceivable nod. Yes, she'd been poi- Stopping her thought process abruptly she went back to furiously taking notes, just random little bullets of what people were saying as she mentally slammed the door to that closet and padlocked it for good measure. Today it was staying closed. |

Lafay was going to take care of the cookie. And the only way Destiny knew how to take care of a cookie was to shove it your mouth and eat it. Or worse! Shove it in someone else's mouth and have them eat it. Someone was gunna die and it wasn't going to be Destiny. Lafay wouldn't kill her favorite student. Watching in HORROR as the cookie was brought back out, she glanced around the room for what felt like the millionth time trying to find who was going to be the cookie's victim. But, apparently the cookie was the real victim, being lit on fire and then turning into nothing. Turning to Patroclus, she gave him a grin letting him know she was not worried at all. She was pretending the whole time. Ahem. Cookie gone and nothing to worry about, Destiny turned her attention back to Lafay as she spoke about being poisoned. She must have ate the cake, too. Mentally snickering, she waited for any of the other students to admit their poisoning and how BORING! A chestnut horse and sushi? "I have been poisoned!" she said, raising her hand. She decided not to mention what she was poisoned from and how many times. Although, that would explain soooo much, wouldn't it? |

She watched very carefully as Lafey put it back in her desk. Just to be sure. Emily was surprised so many people had been poisoned! Was she, like, the only one who had never been poisoned? Mabye she was doing something wrong? She stayed scilent, still twisting her quill, and making a mental note to never eat something Lafey gave her... |
Cass had been a little shocked at this lesson and stayed quite till now, "Black Lotus is a poison, it is distilled from Lotus blossoms. And Yes I have been poisoned, by accident I ingested a very small amount of Black Lotus." Cass seemed to shudder when he mentioned this. |

Guh. The young man raised his hand again. "When I was real little I drank something that had been left within my reach and I got kinda sick from it. I was three and it was one huge disaster," Jake explained, but then went on. "How did it make you sick? Like... what are the symptoms... how do you know you've had it if you're working it out?" |
Poisoned? The food where she grew up was pretty foul, but Rowan didn't think it could exactly be considered poison. Who would have guessed that so many young people had been poisoned. Rowan shook her head in disbelief and continued taking notes. |
Sitting quietly by Lexi's side, Salander was studiously taking notes-- or at least what it appears to be anyway. As he heard Josh's version of poisons, he raised a loose fist to his lips in th attempt to hide a guffaw just bursting to come out. He had to admit, the Gryffindor had his lame brain moments, but when he manages to think clearly enough-- it was sheer brilliance. Salander just had to wonder if Josh was aware just how many nails he's hit on the head with that statement. Oh and with the Professor's latest question, she had to ask innit? He smirked then raised a lazy hand and replied "Every weekend m'am "Need he have to expound on his choice of poison? |
Why wasn't he really surprised that Lafay had ingested poison in the lab before? Then again, it might not have been intentional. That brought a heavy frown to his brow as he considered the woman. Had she ingested it or had someone tried to give it to her? Somehow, the later seemed more likely and that was concerning, to say the least. Raising his hand, Sabel couldn't help the frown being wiped away by a small smile of memory. "I have, when I was around three. Lamp oil. We were camping and...I thought it was something to drink." Apparently it had either tasted good or he had been really thirsty, given his dad had snatched it from him after he swallowed two gulps. He didn't exactly remember the taste, just the progression of events. And looking back on it, it was thankfully something he could laugh at. Though given Lafay's serious tone around poisons, he wouldn't be doing any of that in her classroom. "Hydrocarbon poisoning. Really...nasty. Had to stay in the hospital for about a week." And they had really good cookies there. That he did remember. |
Arya just STARED at Sabel. STAAAARE. He SWALLOWED lamp oil?! Actually consumed the liquid?? She couldn't believe it. Or rather, she couldn't see how it was possible for him to mix the fluid up with something such as soda or juice. She just couldn't. Really....he was always getting hurt one way or another at some point in time or another, she didn't know what she was going to do with him. Equally confused by his smiling at the memory, she let out a silent sigh as she slowly shook her head. And then she choked back a quick laugh. "You are... unbelievably full of surprises, Sabel." And she wouldn't have it any other way. Having NOT been poisoned at anytime in her life, she didn't raise her hand, just continued listened to the others stories. |

Jaina began writing down information that was given on the Daphyr Poison. She then listed the other poisons that had been mentioned in case more information was given on them as well. She had never been poisoned, so she couldn't answer the question posed by Professor Lafay. She knew how poisons worked, but that was not what was asked and she wasn't about to offer that up unless it was asked AND no one else had mentioned it. Yeah, she was gonna be very quiet during this class. |

She sat up a little straighter to see the poison the Professor was showing the class. She gazed curiously at the pinky poison in wonder. For some reason, she couldn't take her eyes off of the poison. It seemed to be luring her with that chocolatey smell. It was only when the Professor put the poison in her drawer that she shook her head and tried to stop herself from daydreaming about chocolate. Having never been poisoned before, she sat back and listened to the stories of people being poisoned. |

"I haven't Professor." he said raising his hand, getting the slight sick feeling that she would take that as a bet and poision all of those who hadn't been just to give us the expereince. *shrug* Sounded alot like her. |
Lexi had had her MIND poisoned by things in the past. Her family for instance, but she was certain that was not what Lafay was referring to. She couldn't think of an instance when she had been... to her knowledge... So she simply shook her head and waited for the lesson to progress. She did, however, find it slightly worrisome that so many people in her class HAD been poisoned. Silly. |

Benjamin really didn't want to answer this question in particular because he did have a gruesome past with his father and grandfather. Still leaning back in his chair, perched at the darkness, he said aloud, "I have, Professor. But I'd really not rather talk about it, if you don't mind." |
Poisoned? Nah, K-Lee hadn't that she remembered. She was surprised that so many others had though. Writing down notes on the information given so far, K-Lee looked around, listening to the others. She'd thought it before but seriously, how had so many of them been poisoned? She must have led a sheltered life or something! It was worrisome that so many people in the class had been poisoned. |

"So... a lot of you have been poisoned... most of you by accident. Can anyone tell me ways to combat the potion effects?" She said. |
"By drinking the proper antidote," Kurumi said unblinking for a few moments. Well, at least now she knew that Dragon Lady had technically poisoned herself... |
Elle remembered vividly how she got sick one time. It was just seven months ago. She raised her hand, "My evil menacing cousins poisoned me once. My aunt and uncle had to attend an auction somewhere far, so they were left at my house. Without knowing they put Venomous Tentacula drops into my hot vanilla drink, I gulped it down in one seating. A few minutes later, I started having difficulty breathing, my line of vision was disrupted and blurred, my throat constricted and burned and my head was spinning. I dropped onto the kitchen floor and the next thing I knew, I was on my bed, having slept for five days straight. My Mum got out the truth from the mischievous boys and as a punishment, turned them into Possums for a day. It was a good thing they only added a tinge of venom, or else, I would never have survived it." The First Year shrugged and smirked at the thought of her cousins. She nearly... died. She raised her hand again, after thinking of possible ways of treating poisons from the body, "We could use Draught of Peace Potion to help sooth the people's agitation during their unstable states. And it also depends on the dosage, Professor. It is no use if you do not take the proper amount of antidote. You have to take in the antidote periodically, when the instructions tell you to do so otherwise, they are useless for your body," |
There were a lot of people who had been poisoned, though few revealed exactly what it was they had been poisoned by. He didn't blame them, it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. His parents had just given him reason to look back on it with amusement. That and the whole situation was rather absurd and death hadn't resulted, so why shouldn't he laugh at it. A small smile was given to Arya and a wink was tempting, but he had the feeling Lafay would have something severe to say against such a gesture, so he refrained. "Wouldn't want to bore you, now would I?" And then his eyes were back to Lafay. Not instant? Well, it had taken several minutes for his breathing to go south, so not deadly instantaneous, but quick enough. "It depends on the poison, Professor. For those affecting respiration ventilators are used. Other times if the poison gets into the digestive tract vomiting is a good idea to try and expel it from the system." Hopefully she wasn't looking for an answer like the ancient cultures used to utilize, like bleeding a patient out. And why exactly was she saying good to those that had been poisoned and smirking at those that hadn't? |
Quote:
"Injected poisons, like from animal stings or bites, can be treated with a pressure bandage and very hot water. The bandage keeps the poison from being pumped through the bloodstream and the hot water breaks the poison down. Many poisons also have specific antidotes; a common one-in the non-magical world, at least-is calcium gluconate, a form of calcium." She wondered if that might be a bit too thorough. She paid far too much attention, it seemed, to specific details like those. source: my Chemistry Professor aka favourite IRL Potions Mistress aka Dr. Anna Wilder aka one of the most awesome people in the world aka I'll stop now. |

... Helena didn't expect that. Not. At. All. As for the answer... Riiight. So every sweet she is going to eat could be poisoned. It was a good thing she wasn't a sweet-freak. When professor Lafay finished her question, Helena's hand shot in the air. "If the poison didn't cause too much... " What? Too much what? "... bad things," she quickly added, her cheeks slightly turning red, "the appropiate antidote would work." |
Chloe was not liking this topic at all. Poisons, just ick. but that was the class discussion for today. she raised her hand and responded, "Yeah, something to induce vomiting would be good if the poison is not as potent. However usually the appropriate antidote in the right dose is best. A bezour can work for a lot of poisons but often one won't be able to find one on hand cause they are quite rare. They also don't work on everything so having a good knowledge of potions to brew a proper antidote as the best way to go.". |
Jaina sheepishly raised her hand. "Um, professor in instances in which the poison as effected the skin, usually creams, ointments, and lotions are used." Hopefully, that wasn't said while she was watching her shoes. What Ben said troubled her a bit, but she made sure that it didn't effect her hair. |

A few moments passed, and then when something else finally came to mind, Sierra raised her hand again. "Well, there's Golpalott's Third Law," she suggested. "It says that the antidote for a blended poison has to be stronger than the antidotes for each part that makes up the poison." |

"As Miss Greingoth said, Golpalott's Third Law states that the antidote for a blended poison will be equal to more than the sum of the antidotes for each of the separate components. Can someone please explain this in easier terms?" She asked. |
Quote:
...and because she'd recently put a lot of thought into the law when suggesting her last answer, she already had an answer for this question, too. She raised her hand again. "Each separate ingredient in a poison has its own antidote, but you can't simply combine all those antidotes together to fight the effects of the blended poison," she explained. She paused as she thought about the rest of the answer. This law wasn't something she knew a whole lot about, after all. "So what you've got to do is find another ingredient to add to the blended antidotes to change them into...well, one whole antidote...and then you have the antidote to the poison." |
Jake... blinked. That law was SO WORDY. He'd always hated and even though Kazi had drilled it into his head, it was still lost on him. Probably bad, since it was NEWT level and all. "What Sierra said," Jake mumbled, nodding his head towards the girl. Smaht Slytherin. See... there was hope for them yet. You know... if she was right. |

Hmm, yes, she had been poisoned before and yes, it was during a potions lesson, but the Slytherin thought it’d be wise if she didn’t speak at the moment. Well, speak that answer. The professor could get ideas that it was okay to poison them during the lesson without their knowledge. Oh who was she kidding, of course that thought probably has already been through the professor’s mind. Sitting quietly, she was going to raise her hand and say a few antidotes or something of the sort for how to battle poison but…well she got lost somewhere in Sierra’s answer. Huh? Her answer after the answer made it even worse. Riigghht. That sounded right. Right? Mmhmm. *nod* Yush, her answer was to agree with Sierra. |
Golpalott's Law? Okay. That was kind of a bit out of Finn's depth. Picking up his quill, he wrote that down onto the parchment just so that he would remember to look it up later. Man. He was really turning into a nerd, maybe he was living up to his Ravenclaw name. But then he heard that little slytherin speaking. And his mouth kinda turned into a little oh. That was Sierra. Who was a first year. How did she know what that meant! That was not good. He was sure she wasn't really a first year. He turned around slowly, and kind of stared at her. Yeah....causer he really wasn't confused right now. |
SPOILER!!: Mistress Lafay and Lady Flores-Shepard Get back to your other seat? Why was he supposed to get back to his own seat while all those supposed sweethearts sat together in this class? Could not Mistress Lafay see that? Ha? Did you see that Lafay? Did you? Josh doubted she did ooor she was jealous so she did not want him to sit with Evelyn. Whatever. With an expressionless face, the Gryffindor stood up and walked slowly to...not his original seat but another closer to the Slytherin girl's. The professor had probably forgotten where he was sitting before that. Her job was not to watch where he was sitting after all. Hehehehe. Then in silence, the boy just followed what was going on in the class. Poisoned? It was surprising to see how many people got poisoned in this class. Josh could remember that once a snake bit him, literally this time not a Slytherin student, but nothing had happened. Nah. He was too STRONG to be poisoned. No one could poison him! Since he did not have an answer, Josh kept watching the professor still in silence until she asked the last question. That question, only Sierra seemed to be able to answer. Hmmm. ''I think that is pretty simple, Professor'' Josh opened his mouth again standing up and looking oh-so-sure-of-himself as usual. ''And i can explain it in a simpler way. There's a poison. A complicated one. It is again to fool you and make you a victim to it, you'd think of the fallacy that you can create the antidote by blending the respective antidote of each ingredient of the so-called-poison.'' he grinned at the professor and went on ''But as i said that'd only make one a new victim of the poison. To avoid this, one should be clever enough to add an extra, effective antidote thing to combine all into a fine and true antidote to it.'' It was true, right? RIGHT! ''I can demonstrate an example of that, too but unfortunately...'' yet the boy halted in a sudden, just looking at Evelyn. What was he doing? He had no idea....perhaps. He was not sure. The only thing he knew that he HAD to do it. Totally forgetting about his previous words, the Gryffindor took a huge breath and his eyes were only but only fixed on his she-snake. ''I just have to do it. It is like a poison. One can understand. And this poison has no antidote to add and combine. Yes. No antidote.'' ''ROSE!'' then he yelled the girl's middle name as he always called her. ''This is only for you : My shoulder wants you to rest on it again, my robe misses your smell My skin misses yours, come and touch once again save me from this hell I am unable to sleep again, unable to smile truly My hand wants yours, eyes might be hidden but teary Please come back to me, do not make those enemies happy Let me fight your boundaries and the darkness inside immediately There’s no life without you, being without you is a torture of Fiendfyre Such things i am trying to say aren’t enough even to describe the desire The love i hold for you, with all my mind and heart Please come back to me, don’t let this Gryffie die broken and hurt'' Once the poem was over, Josh smiled at the girl no matter how much she hated him, and sat back not even bothering to look at the professor. What? What are you looking at? He did not do anything wrong! Did he? ... |

Oh, thank Merlin. Forget the fact that he didn't go back to his original seat. He was giving a decent and unrelated-to-her answer. Smiling just the slightest, the Slytherin opened up her notebook and wrote 'Poisons' at the top before creating a smallish heart next to it. Wha? She enjoyed topics about poisons. There was nothing wrong about that. ... What was wrong however, was Josh's head. Was he...what was he doing? Or saying for that matt- He was speaking poetry. It...would be a lie if she had said she didn't enjoy that though. Erm...there was nothing wrong with enjoying poetry either. It was actually kinda nice to hear. But in Lafay's class? Right in front of he- Quote:
Feeling as if she were a tiny ant caught underneath a giant foot, and she was going to die at any moment, the Slytherin stayed completely silent and unmoving for a moment with wide eyes before clearing her throat and answering. "I...I'm Rose?" Erm, yes, that did just come out as a question. Merlin she sooooo wished Raiden was here right now. There was no need to elaborate on all of this right? Josh called her Rose...so what? |
She knew it. She knew it was Evelyn since the day Carter asked her to 'protect' the girl. Hecate's first instinct was to send her straight to detention. Torture Chamber. Shackle her in the werewolf restraints left by the previous Head of House and leave her there until the end of term. Calm down... This could be useful... "Evelyn Shepard." she hissed angrily. "No Slytherin should ever use a love potion on another person. Do I make myself clear? Which potion did you use?" ... It didn't seem to be amortentia... Probably something she bought from a store in Diagon Alley... something expired... She glared at Josh... He was at fault too for letting himself be poisoned. |
Holy mother of Merlin, she was going to be eaten! … Wait, what? "Love potion?" she repeated, sitting up from her slumped posture, as if she was trying to get under the table and hide, but this new accusation made her confused. Why the heck would she use a love potion on Josh? "You make yourself clear, but…I never used any love potion on him." Was Josh under a love potion? Did someone put him under one!? Or did someone tell Lafay that Evelyn had? Whoever did it, they better pray to the heavens that the Slytherin girl never found out who did! If she did, whoever it was better be a fast runner. |
Whoa! Jaina thought. What is going on? She looked around the classroom. Something was definitely up, but what? She jotted down some things like the antidotes they were discussing. She also made a note of the strange thing that happened so she could discuss later with Charley, Belle, Alice, and Ben. This is way too weird! |
Simon was being relatively quiet, trying to answer when he could and someone hadn't already taken his answer and taking notes on what the others gave. Thinking his friend might actually behave this class, the last thing he expected was Josh getting up in the middle and reciting a love poem to Evelyn. He fought the urge to bang his head against something agasperated and thinking Lafay was gonna go ballistic on the younger Gryffindor. However she in turn responded in a way he hadn't expected either. Love potion!? he mused looking back over to his friend, Was it possible? |
"Yes, really," Jake nodded, scribbling down some notes and continuing to dooooooooooodle a Really? They were getting into that stupid Josh kid's problems now? Why the heck was he staying here if that was the topic? He didn't care for Josh, and although Evelyn was the She-Snake he tolerated most at the moment, this all was boring him... so he continued with his elaborate doodle. |

She summoned a vial from a cupboard. She took it to Evelyn Shepard and placed it on her desk. Cork still sealed inside it. She then turned to the whole class and said "Anyone know what that vial could be? It's colourless and clear... if you could smell it, it would be odourless and if you were to taste it," She glared at Evelyn... "it would be tasteless." |
"No, it's fine," Jake replied, still doooooooodling. "My apologies." And then he looked at the vial. Then smiled and half raised his hand. "It could be Veritaserum." THEN he looked back at his parchment. "But seeing as that's illegal to use on students... it could just as well..." He made another note. "... be water." |
Riley was scared what was she going to do to Evelyn! He wanted to get up and protect his friend from the Dragon-lady but he was far too afraid she would poison him or curse him into next week. Instead of doing anything the Gryffindor just stared, wide-eyed at the Slytherin girl and the Professor. He slowly raised his hand and said what he had HOPED the potion was, at least not a dangerous one. "Is it Verictiserum?" If he was wrong wasshe going to poison him! WHY SO MUCH POISONING?! |
Quote:
Yes, she was scared. |
Simon watched as Lafay seemed to not believe Evelyn's answer of not using a potion to control Josh's feelings for her. The quidditch captain wasn't sure which way to think seeing as he didn't think the girl was the type to have stooped so low but it certainly wouldn explain his best friend's complete infatuation. As the professor took out a vial of potion, asking if anyone had any idea what it was, he couldn't help but raise his hand in answer, reconizing the description. "Veritserum, professor." |
Quote:
Gripping her seat as Lafay came nearer, Evelyn stared at the vial on her desk for a moment, still confused as all get out, before looking up to the Professor as she started speaking. Colorless, odorless, and...tasteless... Her face was starting to become colorless as well after each word was spoken before it burned red in embarrassment; and tad bit of anger. She knew what potion it was, but it only made it worse once a MILLION PEOPLE told what it was. Lafay hadn't believed her. For once, she sooooo wished with all her heart that Jake was right, and that it was water. "Professor." she said wide eyed, gaze flickering back to the vial. "You...you can't be serious. I'm telling the truth!" Didn't someone say it was illegal to use on students?! |
Quote:
He raised his hand after the Slytherin asked if the Professor was serious and he spoke scared out of his mind. "Professor isn't this a theoretical lesson?" and he sunk in his chair as soon as the words left his mouth. He closed his eyes waiting for the cruciatus or the bottle on the desk for that matter to hit him square in the face. .... |
Sabel nearly jumped at Josh's antics. At first, he found the sentiment, while poorly placed during class and Lafay's class nonetheless, sweet. It was also somewhat true, the statement about being 'poisoned by love' true, though to a lesser degree. But Lafay seemed to either take things a completely different way. Amusement faded to confusion as he blinked back and forth between the Professor, Evelyn and Josh. Wasn't he just being...Josh? Why did Lafay think he had taken a love potion? Would he be stating love as a poison if he was under a potion. Befuddled, he spared a glance over at Arya, eyebrow quirked in confusion. It was when Lafay drew out the clear potion that he straightened in his seat a little, blinking. Truth serum? Would Evelyn lie about this? And was it so serious to have to use the serum on her? Or was it more of a threat? Despite the questions running through his head, there was a calm knowing that Lafay wouldn't hurt any of her students, no matter how cruel she presented herself. But Evelyn looked down right scared, and he didn't really blame her. |
Lexi smirked and sat back in her seat beside her boyfriend watching the scene unfold. How else would someone love that freak girl? Love Potion. HA. How pathetic of Evelyn. Hahah. Lexi mentally chanted DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT!! Give her the serum and ask her THINGS. DO IT!! Oh Lafay was quickly becoming her FAVE professor. |
"Now why in the world would Professor Lafay carry water in her potions cabinet? Don't you people ever bloody think? She gave the potion to the girl not just to scare her, which has effectivly been done, but also to prove a point. Just take a sip and see if it's water or the truth telling serum. I'll bet you 5 galleons it's the latter of the two." Benjamin was still in the dark corner relaxed. He looked from the girl to the professor, an smirked. Lafays teaching methods may be a little eccentric, but her effectiveness worked perfectly. |
Lol SPOILER!!: The Bezoar, Love potion thing between the ladies and Veritaserum(?) Since he was still watching the Slytherin girl and her reaction to his little piece of art, Josh did not pay any attention to what Lafay was doing until he felt the woman's presence close to him. Lafay that close! It meant danger! A fatal one. Perhaps, she had come to strangle him to death or poison him with another cookie or something much more evil and painful that the boy could not even imagine. Meh... She could do whatever she wanted, he was done after all. He had done what he wanted to do and the rest did not bother him. If Lafay wanted to use him as a guinea pig for the poisons class, so be it. If he somehow managed to prove Evelyn that he really loved her, everything did worth it. He could even spend rest of his school years in the detention place after being used as a Potions Class Material for a year or more. Huh? There it was happening. She was giving him something to eat. Staring first at the stone in her hand then at the professor suspiciously, the boy picked up the bezoar and examined it some. ''Why?'' Yes, he asked the question though the Potions Mistress' tone sounded like 'don't do it and you cannot even imagine the result' to him ''It does not look delicious''. Hah. He was not going to bring it near his mouth until she explained what it was. However when he had seen the look or, to be more exact, glare that the woman shot at Evelyn and heard with what she accused the Slytherin girl, Josh's eyed widened, a deeply worried expression appearing on his face. ''Professor!'' so he exclaimed quickly putting the stone in his mouth and swallowing it down. ''I did what you wanted me to do. I did it. I ate the stone.'' but nothing seemed to happen anyway ''There's no love potion professor. She doesn't need magic to make me love her. She does not need anything for that at all. She did nothing!'' Stopping again the Gryffindor thought Lafay might pay attention to his words yet when she seemed to pick up a potion thing (or was it POISON?!) and placed it on the girl's desk, Josh quickly figured that no good thing was going to happen to her. And it was because of him! Because of HIM! No way! There was no way he could let this happen. Lafay or whomever else. No one could hurt his love while he was alive. ''NO!'' so he rushed towards Evelyn and Lafay but tripped on the way and fell down. ''Ow!'' his nose did hurt A LOT. Holding the nose and ignoring the pain, the lion boy quickly jumped on his feet again and placed himself as a shield between Evelyn and the evil Mistress. ''Don't do it. I did what you want me to do. She has not done anything. She is innocent. Do not do it. Punish me instead! PUNISH ME!'' Pffft sometimes he hated that robes. It was making him sweat under it. |
Oh shut up, kid. That was what Jake thought as he heard that bloody first year pipe up. Fancy talking to a group of people like that. No. Nuhnuhnuhnuhnoooooo. "When I was younger, third year or so," Jake said, keeping his temper as he set his quill down, and looking up at Evelyn. "Professor Kazimeriz thought I was lying about something. He let me think I was slipped a truth serum, as a kind of placebo. I was already telling the truth, but his method, I'm familiar with. It works." And then he went back to his drawing after a glance at Lafay... but then... REALLY JOSH?! STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARE. |
Kurumi knew she didn't like Cookie!Hater and the fact that she had given Josh a love potion made that point even clearer. Flicking her gaze on the girl for a moment, Kurumi wondered if the Potion Mistress was really going to use Veritaserum on her. Hoped the girl was skilled in Occlumency. But, they were talking about poisons, right? Was Veritaserum a poison? Kurumi supposed if it wasn't brewed properly it could be. Raising her hand, Kurumi decided to offer another answer that her classmates hadn't already suggested. "Professor, botulin is also orderless and tasteless." |
Sabel's eyes grew a little wider as Josh suddenly seemed to come back alive. And then, despite the desperation in the boy's eyes, the fear on Evelyn's face and the dead serious line of Lafay's lips, it was a great deal of effort to keep from laughing. It would be rude to laugh, yes? Yes. Slouching a little in his chair, he raised his hand to cover his mouth, focusing his attention for a moment on the grain of the desk to try and calm himself. It was like they were in a Shakespearean acting class and the walls were falling down. He wanted to tell Josh to calm down when he chanced a glance back over at the trio, that Lafay wouldn't hurt Evelyn, but there was a lesson in this and he was learning how to keep his mouth shut when it wasn't appropriate to speak. May as well make the effort now. He did however glance over at Jake, a slight frown covering his amusement for a moment at the more serious tale of truth. Needless to say, potions was not a dull subject. |
Jaina was totally confused as to what was going on. Was there such a thing as a love potion?? Why would someone use one? It all seemed silly to her. Especially the Gryffindor making a complete and udder fool of himself. She couldn't believe Ben wanted the poor girl to drink the potion. Though she didn't know what it was to begin with. This was by far the most interesting potions class ever! |

Sierra glanced at the Gryffindor boy out of the corner of her eyes and then promptly rolled her eyes at him. "I agree," she mumbled, "I have absolutely no problem with him getting punished..." After all, it'd do wonders for the points board. Knowing this, Sierra lounged back in her seat and watched with a smirk as the nonsense continued. Maybe if she somehow provoked him, he'd keep up the show and dig the Lions' grave deeper and deeper. Heh. Quote:
Gryffindors... |
Septimus crossed his arms on his desk and put his chin on them. He daren’t say a word. He often didn’t do anything in any of his classes until someone gave him a physical display of the new spell or whatever. Yes, he was definitely a visual learner. But the wheels in his mind were turning. What was this love potion nonsense? Love was supposed to be earned by showing your true feelings for the one you fancy. Not by some dumb potion. “Professor, what is the point of using a love potion? If there is a point?” He couldn’t help it. It really was an honest question. |
Scribble...scribble...scribble.... Salander was studiously staring at his parchment, pretending that all the He could feel Lexi rest against him and quickly swung his arm and rested them on her shoulders. Yes drama, drama, drama... oh a question! He looked at the vial the Professor showed the class then replied "Uhm... if we're still in the discussion of poisons-- Arsenic is also known to be colorless and odorless... tasteless too I think? Anyway there were plenty of cases that was said to be done by Arsenic poisoning because of how readily available it is. " |
Seriously this had gone way to far, and Lafay was letting it happen! Josh was out of control, and because of it, Evelyn was about to be drugged because of it. "Professor, pardon my interruption, if the vial in your hand is Veritaserum, the use of it on a student requires Ministry Approval first!" he would know his brother was MLE, "And besides, I can personally vouch for Evelyn, she didn't drug Mr Carter, this is very much his own personal will talking." The boy was prepared for the blast that he would recieve from Lafay, however noone else seemd to be standing in Evelyn defense, and in a round about way Josh was his reponsiblity, as the Gryffindor Prefect. The Prefect that would be having a chat with the certain lion later on! |
Emily was surprised with the turn the lesson was taking. Had the Slytherin girl used a love potion?... it was possible. No doubt Lafay wanted to get to the bottom of the issue. Emily raised her hand. "Is it Veritaserum?" |
Oh, how Dianna loved this quick detour on their lesson. She had her eyes and ears open for anything funny that might happen. When the Professor opened the cupboard and brought out a vial filled with some clear liquid and she said it was tasteless and had no smell what immediately popped in her head was...water. Of course some students thought outside of the box... Might as well say Draught of the Living Death but she'll just cause to much trouble. |
Elle looked back to see some Slytherin girls and students with anxious faces. They were almost as white as paper, their lips so pale like they were zombies. She breathed in and out, pitying them. What poor luck..., she thought. The redhead thought about the vial Professor Lafay was holding, but could not discern what it was, so she just kept quiet and waited for the other students to answer. If this was answering session for her class and not for her, then it would be Jotting Down Notes Session. |

After hearing another student question if it was illegal she looked back at the professor and nodded as if insinuating a point. "Professor, just what are you planning on doing with this potion? ...Unless it is, in fact, water..." she said mumbling. She choked on the last word slightly frightened gripping her quill. |

"I agree; the most likely substance would be Veritaserum." She nudged Jaina. "Are you all right? This is pretty heavy stuff." |

Nika looked at the vial that Lafay had placed on that mortified girl's desk. Nika looked at in confusion. What could be odorless and tasteless? Nika was going to guess water, but she doubted Professor Lafay would really be showing them water."Well... It's got to be some sort of potion or another right?" Stupid stupid stupid |

Kyle wrote down notes of all the different posions, potions, everything they were speaking off so far. And finally the truth serium she hated - Vertiserum, not a fun one colorless, odorless, and tasteless there were limited ways to find out anything about it being in your food or drink. And she didn't like undetectable potions. |

Wow, this class was getting entaintaining! Like at a tennis match, her head went from one to the other. From Lafey and the slytherin girl, to the Gryffindor boy falling over and back again. She watched the potion as well. Mabye it was some sort of poison that looked like Vertiserum... or water. Although she didn't see why Lafey would poison her for lying. The Gryffindor was being so over-dramatic as well. Not even her sister would put on a performance like that. It could win awards. As long as he didn't lose Gryffindor any points... let the show continue. |
Watching from his now normal seat in the back of the room, mikey wondered if Fafey would be taking point from both houses for upseting her class |
Belle was in the class sitting next to Jania and Charley, "Oh i have heard about Veratiserum, it is ordorless but it does make one tell the truth or known as your deepest darkest secrets." she told both of them. |

That smile on the Potions Mistress' face was not a pleasant one...in fact it was downright frightening and made Kurumi slouch in her seat a bit in a feeble attempt to hide herself as much as she could under her table without looking too obvious. |

Oh dear Merlin. Not NOW! Don't do that NOW! That just made all this look worse! However, she could not help but notice Lafay would not look away from. Pleeaaase look away? Well apparently it was too late now to simply crawl under the desk and escape through the door. And WHY must she have been given such a difficult question? The question, and the gaze on her, and the coldness she was feeling through her body, and the clamminess, and...and she wasn't feeling good now. "I...I don't..." What was in the vial? Shaking her head slightly, her gaze once more flickered between the vial and the Professor, mouth opening and closing as if she were a fish. ..."Water?" |
Septimus was thoroughly confused. What was this about the Evelyn girl using a love potion? Who'd she use it on? What was really in the vial? Skarlo would love to hear about this, thought Sep. He'd know what's going on. He always does. But the wheels in his mind were spinning faster and faster. Mystery, hmm? He'd never really been one to go nosing in on other people's matters, but his curiosity got the better of him. GAAH! Back to the lesson! Pay attention, you idiot! he scolded himself. A poison that had no smell and no taste... He could only think of one and it was the same as Kurumi's suggestion. Ugh, why did Potions have to be so hard?! |

Emily was impressed with how firghtening Lafay could be, she commanded attention and had the ability to make first-years wet their pants. It was diffinately fun to watch, as long as she wasn't on the receiving end. Hhhmmm Ravenclaw lost 5 points... drats! that was bad!... Ravenclaw needed all the points they could get at this point in the term. Emily made a mental note: Put more effort into hoemwork= more extra credit. |

"Well... I think this is a good a place as any to end this class..." She looked at Carter. He'd taken the Bezoar... She looked at Evelyn and smirked. Maybe she was telling the truth. "Alright... Homework." She waved her wand and a sheet appeared before each student. "Something fun... Due a week from today and worth 10 points. Class Dismissed!" ooc: I found this online so I tweaked it and am using it. You can either print it out do the word search and scan it... or, you can use paint to edit the file to do the word search... or you can use the red and green letters and numbers... like Bubotuber is C3 - K3 |
Jaina gathered up her stuff quickly. Then she caught a glimpse of that Gryffindor boy that had saved her. She went to the back of the classroom where Ben was. "Ben, that's the boy, right there." She pointed out Sabel. "Do you know him?" |
Emily looked down at the sheet... this was brilliant, too easy. Packing her things into her bag Emily decided that though practical potions lessons were the best she did rather enjoy the theoretical. "Thanks for the lesson Professer Lafay", she said as she got up and left. |
"No. But I'm sure i'll get to know him soon enough take him where we hide out down here. Then I'll tell him. |
Nika looked at the sheet of paper in front of her. She gave a sigh of relief when she saw it was only a word search puzzle. Good. None of that confusing opinion stuff we normally get. She put her notes into her bag and got up out of her chair. She walked up to her professor and smiled the best she could. "Thank you Professor for this... interesting lesson." |
Quote:
She went back up front to Sabel and put out her hand. "Hi, do you remember me? I'm the girl you saved in the greenhouse. I was wondering since class was over, could you meet me in the dungeon corridor for a sec?" She hoped she wouldn't get into more trouble. |

"Thank you for the lesson, Professor Lafay," she said, grabbing the homework sheet then going over to Jaina and Ben. Quote:
"Hey, do you know what you're doing between now and the next lesson?" |

Her eyes paused on Lafay when the professor asked Evelyn if she cared to test the potion. Sierra sat up in her chair and craned her neck to see what would happen. ...but then the mixture was revealed to be expired Veritaserum and then poured into a plant that would never see the light of day again. Sierra smirked as she watched the effects of the poison set in on the plant. ...then, homework! Not that Sierra was excited over the opportunity for extra work, no. She was just getting irritable and cranky and kind of wanted a nap now. She grabbed a hold of the homework, scooped her bag off the floor, and then began to make her way out. Passing by Lafay, she said, "Great lesson, Professor." ...and it had been. "Have a good day." With a small smile, she turned on her heels and made her way out the room. |
Over already? Sabel blinked at Lafay's demonstration and nodded his head. Perhaps it was best. The class had gotten a little out of hand. Packing up his books and zipping his backpack closed, he was about to say something to Arya about heading out when another Hufflepuff was addressing him. It took him a few blinks and her words for him to clue in, and when he did he nodded a little and gave her a small smile. "Glad to see you're okay." He wanted to protest that he didn't really save her, and that it had been more Arya doing the work, when she asked him to meet in the corridor. "Uhm...sure." Strange Hufflepuff. He spared Arya a glance and a confused expression. "I'll, meet you outside then." And with that he was up and ready to head out to the corridor, giving Lafay a respectful nod in passing. |
