| | | Weighing of the Wands A traditional part of the tournament is the Weighing of the Wands Ceremony, in which is necessary to ensure each Champion's wand is in proper working order. Particularly because the champions will be dependent on their wands as their sole tool in each of the tasks. The Wand Weighing will be performed by Madam Svealand, a popular wandmaker from Northern Sweden.
Please note that only the champions, wandmaker, and judges should be posting in this thread. |

Well, he wasn't going to find out because of his wand, that's for sure. His was perfectly perfect, and unlike the other Champions, Nik was not nervous as he stepped in front of the woman.
With a smug look on his face, he held out his freshly polished, and rather shiny wand. "12.5" Makore vood, vith a serpent scale core." Raising a brow at the boy's apparent over confidence, Freja laughed a little when she took the boy's wand. She quite much liked that kind of students if, of course, they are not too arrogant.
And the woman could see why the boy looked so confident. His wand seemed to be well cared for and in a fine condition. ''Looks nice'' so the woman said she waved the wand making dark red sparks fly around the boy ''This is a quite powerful wand. Be very careful while handling it.'' now she could why the boy was confident. His confidence apparently reflected to his wand. ''Here'' she uttered as she gave the wand back. Quote:

She reached the small table and took a deep breath. "Umm.. Hi. It's an eleven inch, ash and dragon heartstring." *gulp* Hopefully she wouldn't yell at her for all the fingermarks.. The next was Hogwarts girl's wand. So, as the girl approached her, Freja eyed her her blue gaze landing on the wand she was carrying. Since the girl looked nervous, the wandmaker smiled a little to show that there was nothing to be nervous yet this smile quickly vanished when she finally took the wand.
As she examined it her expression turned into a frown. Did not this girl know that she had to not only care for her wand but also respect it. Tut-tut. The woman gave the girl a look then waved her wand. Yellow sparks appeared and vanished in the air. ''At least it is working order'' the woman said coldly supposing that girl knew the reason frowned ''Good for offensive and defensive spells. Here. Take it and care to look after it. You can at least polish it a little'' |

Brielle decided she would go next, she had been wanting to hold out to go luckly last, but it seemed there was no time like the present.
Stepping forward, her ponytail bouncing as she stepped, the girl withdrew her wand, in the most elegant fashion of course. Brielle's wand, like everything else about this girl was perfect, and beautifully well kept. The very holster that held it, beside being the best one could get, acted as a permanent polisher. It was not possibly for this wand to less then perfection. The wand and the Witch were made for each other.
With a slight curtsy and dip of the head Brielle presented her wand, "10½ Pouces, Cerisier, les Cheveux d'une Sirène" The girl said, realising that she had in fact spoken in her native tongue, "Pardon moi, 10½ Inches, Cherry, The Hair of a Siren" she smiled.
As usual she could help but place her hand on her hip, in the modelesque style that way Brielle. Her body language read, Yeah read that!

Alekandra listened attentively as everyone's wand was described, curiosity about her own growing.
Not one for allowing others to hold her freshly polished wand, even if only for a second, she waited until all of her school mates' wands were weighed before stepping up to the woman. "Manticore clav core," She started, placing her wand in the woman's hand. "
10 3/4 inches..." Hesitantly she released her the wand, hand twitching slightly at the absence of the light wood. "Larchvood." She finished eyes flicking from her wand to the woman.
She wanted her wand back.

With a slight curtsy and dip of the head Brielle presented her wand, "10˝ Pouces, Cerisier, les Cheveux d'une Sirčne" The girl said, realising that she had in fact spoken in her native tongue, "Pardon moi, 10˝ Inches, Cherry, The Hair of a Siren" she smiled.
As usual she could help but place her hand on her hip, in the modelesque style that way Brielle. Her body language read, Yeah read that! Once the next girl approached her, Freja hoped that she at least polished her wand. So, her eyes were only on the wand as the girl gave it to her. Hmmm. ''Excuse me?'' she said coldly when the girl spoke in French and hopefully she corrected herself and spoke in English. ''Ah a nice one'' then she said as she carefully took the wand from her. And the very moment she observed it, the woman giggled a little which was surprising regarding her usual cold attitude. ''There is a lot of femininity here. Good for charms and love spells'' after those words she smiled and waved the wand to make pink sparks rain on the girl before she gave the wand back. Quote:

She wanted her wand back. Then she moved to the next girl, the smile still on her face. The previous girl was from Beauxbatons and this one should have been from Durmstrang. Fine. The wandmaker watched the girl as she walked towards her. She thought girls mostly cared for their wands more than boys did yet that Hogwarts girl dissappointed her quite much.
Whatever...taking the other girls wand she examined it carefully. Hmm. Larchwood and Manticore. Another interesting combination. ''This wand is excellent for protective spells and good for transfiguration'' Then she waved the wand and green sparks bursted out its tip ''Very good'' and smiling at this girl, too she gave the wand back. Noow who was next?

It was finally Jermaine's turn to have his wand inspected. That's right, save the best for last.
Stepping up to the table he presented his finely polished wand. "Bonjour, 'ere is my flawless 11 3/4 inch, beech wood wand with a Firecrab shell for ze core." He said as he handed it over to the woman.
He then waited for the results which he knew would be nothing less than perfect. He after all was the only one with a firecrab shell for a core.

Freja looked around the room and took a deep breath before looking at the last student : a young man from Beauxbatons. As he approached, Freja realised that this one was not nervous so the wand should have been well looked after.
Then listening to the introduction of the wand, the woman nodded slightly and slowly and carefully took the wand from the boy. ''Hmm...another interesting one.'' she said. Firecrab shell was another rare element to use as a wand core. ''Good for binding magic and Charms. It is indeed in a good condition'' then she repeated the spell that produced sparks to check it. It seemed to be so she gave the wand back to the boy.

"Thank you, Madame Svealand," Tate stepped forward and bowed in her direction. It was generous of her to spend so much time looking over wands, taking time out of her assuredly busy schedule. "If everyone will move on to the press conference... and then you are dismissed. Our first task will begin in the next few days, so I want everyone well fed and well rested. Remember... vigilance!"

Next?
Raising a brow the woman looked around. There was no one next. Good. Finally she was done with the weighing and the children were mostly aware that their wands worth caring for. Most importantly all wands were in fine working order. Quote:

''You are welcome Headmaster Tate.'' she said softly and started to walk towards the press conference area.
