Runes III: The Quileute Runes

The moment you enter the classroom, you realize that the interior is.... huge. Twice the size it usually is, no doubt. There are no chairs, though there is an assortment of cushions - soft and squishy, not-so-soft and not-so-squishy, take your pick - on the floor.

Professor Markovic opens the door so that the students can file in, and then stands to a side, the usual small-but-warm smile playing around her lips.

OOC Index:

Class has officially started. If you missed the beginning, don't RP your character arriving late - pretend that [s]he was there all along.

[] Second question
[] The truth about the Quileute tribe + third question
[] The Quileute Runes + fourth question

WOW....the classroom was huge. Had it always been this size? Perhaps she had shrunk? All these thoughts went out the window when Kurumi saw the piles and piles of cushions.

Yay!

"Hello Professor Markovic," Kurumi said bowing slightly before taking off in a slight job towards the cushions. What fun was it jumping on them if you were at a walk?

Simon reached the runes classroom once more, ready for another round of lessons on the ancient subject. And why shouldn't he when the last two classes had gone off nicely as they had. When the door to the classroom was finally opened, he stepped inside and smiled at the professor.

"Good day professor," he greeted before walking further inside, the boy's glance finally noticing the enlargement of the room besides the fact he was only the second one there besides the girl from herbology. "Another interesting lesson I'm guessing," he mused quietly almost to himself as he made his way to one of the cushions. The gyrffindor sitting down upon iy with his quill and parchment ready in his pocket.

BanaBatGirl 10-27-2010 04:30 AM

Huh....... Runes. Fletcher had come to realize he wasn't so bad at this subject after all, so he had to put in appearance to today's lesson. The boy strolled into the room and nodded toward the prof.

"Sup."

He selected a cushion --- a very, very plump, obnoxiously yellow cushion --- and then plopped down nice and close to the front. He wanted to tell Miss Markovic alllll about how he had used Runes to figure out what the third task of the Triwizard Tournament would be. But not right now. Maybe later, in her office.

Chloe entered the Antient Runes classroom and her jaw dropped. Oh y goodness, the room is so huge, it looks amazing. She then saw the professor and said, "Hello Professor Mavorick, this setting you've got here is amazing", Chloe said with a bright smile. And with that she noticed the foutons in replaceent for seats which she felt is awesome. She quickly took a seat on a bright red lovely fouton and wated for class to begin.

"Doing fine, Miss Hollingberry?"

Oh, and look at that. Mr. Bennett.

"Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, and interest in... the mind and heart, I should think," Di said, her indication that she had overheard his remark.

Alright, so Evelyn may have gotten to class earlier then normal, waiting outside the door for one particular reason. Or person in other words. Josh.

Of course.

But not because he was totally her knight in shining armor and the best person in the world...well no, it was because of that. And it was also because she hadn't gotten to see him lately and she was NOT going to be letting that boyfriend stealing little snake sitting next to him again. Nope. That Slytherin...was GOING DOWN!

Then again, she rarely saw those two in classes. Which is why she was so upset at the moment. Both of them? Not in class? COINCIDENCE!? Might as well mope and be comfortable at the same time. On a big comfy cushion. "'llo Prfesrr." she muttered rather quietly, scooting two cushions closer to the door. This way, she'd just...accidentally pull him down next to her if he came. Brilliant plan...obviously.

Steelsheen 10-27-2010 05:17 AM

Salander entered the room and stopped short. Was it just him or this felt like walking into a small church? He moved his eyes quickly-- no mazes, no cookies, no Whomping Willow. Well, maybe it would be a safe class after all 'no?

Of course there were also no chairs. Hmm.

He smiled and nodded at the Professor politely, then took to one of the larger, firmer-looking pillows and leaned back. What are they going to do today?

sweetpinkpixie 10-27-2010 06:05 AM

I'll just pretend the RP in your office is done XD

"I'm doing well," Kurumi smiled from her pile of cushions. She picked up a white meduim fluffy one to sit on and left the rest. "I tried baking your cookies from the recipe you gave me - I hope it is alright that I made a few changes to it." She had brought a small sample in her bag that she was planning on handing over to her at the end of the lesson. "Do you have another project or maze up your sleeves?" she asked. She had rather enjoyed building a tent the first class and the maze had been a lot of fun as well.

Kurumi carried her cushion over to the Slytherin boy who had played her hero during the misadventure with the giant spiders in Care of Magical Creatures. She set it down gently next to him before flopping down on it herself.

Trick of the imagination? No, Miss Flores-Shepard did look - Di decided as the Slytherin scooted closer to the door - a little blue and unhappy, especially if you considered the intonation the girl had used, just now. No hint of the usual, pesky-but-intelligent Slytherin child in that.

"Hello, Miss Flores-Shepard. Doing good, I hope?" Di askked.

Did the boy look a little... relieved? Perhaps. At any rate, Di returned his smile with a small but pleasant one of her own.

Di's lips tugged up into a smile. This girl... must really adore cookies! "It's completely alright, Miss Hollinberry. Experimentation can be a good thing." Can be, of course.

"Yes, I do." Di's eyes twinkled. "Nothing like a maze, though."

Ancient Runes was fast becoming one of Mia's favorite classes. Not only was it interesting but the Professor was extremely cool as well. And of course that always helped.

Even though she knew that she wasn't late, Mia still ran into the room as though her pants were on fire. "Heyyyyyyy Professor. Good to see you as always." She said giving the woman a bright smile and a wave as she headed for a bright purple cushion.

Mia circled it for a moment just like a cat would and then pounced on it hitting the cushion rather hard. It made a sound like a balloon being let down or the sound of someone with a very bad flatulence problem.

"Oops excuse me."

tonks2 10-27-2010 08:48 AM

Emmy zipped into class, greeted the professor, "Hello Professor! I hope I'm not late?"
Then she scurried over to a large squishy purple cushion with yellow dots all over it. Perfect! House colour, and favourite colour! Yayy!
I hope someone I know turns up... Argh! Evelyn! I didn't mean her! Oh Merlin, I hope she hasn't seen me! I know, I'll squidge over and sit with Kurumi!
Shuffling over on her lovely cushion, she said, "Hi Kurumi! Is it ok if I sit here? Ooh, have a coffee cake - freshly baked yesterday!"

SilverTiger 10-27-2010 08:59 AM

hmmm hehe *glomps Maxie* :P Salander and Kurumi, too. (and Fletcher)

Grayson honestly still didn't think of Runes as one of her better classes, but since she'd decided Professor Markovic was pretty cool she figured she might as well keep coming to class. Of course, she didn't quite think the professor was as cool as Professor Vindictus (just 'cause of her belief he'd secretly gone along with her potion thing at the alumni ball last term), but the Runes professor was still pretty awesome. And classes were fun. Either way, she sort of bounced into the classroom in her raspberry Converse. "Hi Professor Markovic!," she called out with a smile, before glancing at the obviously giant classroom. Interesting. Made her wonder about what they'd be learning about this time.

But first she needed to get settled, and after going over and selecting as nice and squishy blue cushion, she looked for somewhere to settle herself. To change it up from her obsession with raspberry, not to mention she wasn't about to dig through the entire pile just to see if there was a raspberry one in the first place. And then her green eyes landed on Salander. And the little Gryffie from the DADA food fight. That looked like as good a place as any, although she also sent a grin over to Fletcher. Just cause he was awesome for winning the TWT. But then she arrived over by Salander, and she dropped her cushion on the opposite side to where the Gryffie girl was before bouncing down on it and looking over at the two. "Hi guys," she said with a smile. Maybe a tiny bit louder than she should have, but class hadn't started yet. Right? And she'd make sure to stop talking once it did.

Uh oh...the girl seemed pleasant enough, but perhaps she was angry about what had gone down during the food fight? Kurumi had been dancing out of the classroom because of her spell...then again, she had said the counter spell so she could stop River dancing in circles. "H-h-hi," she said shyly smiling at the girl. She knew she should have baked more cookies...

Nixy! 10-27-2010 01:25 PM

Iris walked into the classroom, rather cheerfully. It was March. Only four months until she'd see Aaron again. Hehe. The prefect was dressed in a comfy cotton summer dress, and red ballet pumps. Nice and comfy, and it meant that she didn't have to change after class. She could just head off down to the lake.

Looking round the room quickly, Iris frowned. No sign of Jimbo or Leilani yet. Never mind. Hmmm... but there were LOADS of pillows. Hehehe. Iris eyed one of them. Yes, that pillow. That's the one she was going to sit on. Iris smiled brightly at the professor, "G'day, Professor Markovic! How're you today?"

PattyH. 10-27-2010 01:55 PM

Patroclus only realised how fast he was walking, when he tripped over a pillow that was in the door way!

Being the gymnast that he was, Patroclus turned his trip into a perfect dive roll, landing in a perfect sitting position, facing the professor! "Thanks Ev!" Patroclus called over his shoulder seeing it was her that had placed the pillow in his way, a fact he was not at all angry about!

Turning his head to the teacher, Patroclus grinned from ear to ear! "Hello, Professor!"

Lauralicious 10-27-2010 02:31 PM

Entering the classroom Fee smiled. She really enjoyed runes so it always was a pleasure to come here.
"Good morning professor",Fee greeted happily.

Oh my, the Hufflepuff seemed quite excited. "Miss Gibbins," Di acknowledged, a smile causing her lips to turn up as the girl pretty much pounced on a cushion. "You seem rather excited, today."

Oh my! Di actually raised her wand to ward off something serious, like the turtle!Gryffindor crashing into a wall but, thankfully, he... turned his misadventure into a dive?

Err... seemed so.

"Hello, hello," Di said, her smile a little uncertain. "You alright, Mr. Hudson?" He seemed so, but one can never be too sure.

Once the class had filled up, Di stepped over to a cushion at the front of the classroom, leaving the door half-open so that late-comers could come inside sans too much trouble, if they wanted to. Sitting down, the Runes professor flicked her wand, causing the lights in the room to dim and die. The darkness lasted only for half a second, as chandeliers burst into gentle illumination, flooding the classroom in lights of all sorts of soft, beautiful colours.

It was the last class of the year, after all... it couldn't hurt to make it pretty, yes?

"Let's start this lesson, then." She looked round at all the students. "Does anyone know anything about the Quileute tribe?"

OOC: The lesson has officially started. If you're hopping on-board now, just pretend that your character has been in the classroom all the time. Chatting is okay, but not too much of it. ^__^

RachieRu 10-27-2010 05:01 PM

Finlay's favourite lesson. hehe. Mmm. The Quileute tribe. The ravenclaw though for a moment before sticking his hand up in the air. "I believe that the Quileute tribe are Native American People in the west of the united States of America. They live on a reservation, the main one which is in the community of La Push, which has a population of about 371. They seem pretty cool. I mean...it'd be cool to like be in a group that all lived in the same area right?" Well it seemed pretty cool to Finlay anyway.

Iris smiled at the teachers response, "Oh, yup. I'm in a really good mood today." Hehehe. Giving the professor nod, the prefect then turned to go and sit on that rainbow tie-dye cushion.

Teehee, it was a comfy pillow.

When the professor started the lesson, Iris considered the question. OOOH, She KNOWS this... Gah. Or, at least... Iris had heard of it. Somewhere. The pretty colours that the professor had cast around the room were a distraction though. It was like a rainbow, floating around the room.

Hehe. It was reeeeally pretty. Iris wanted that chandelier. It was colourful and beautiful. Like Iris.

Raising her hand, Iris looked at the professor, "Uh... They're a Native American tribe, aren't they? From around... Uh... Washington. I think." Hmm... Yes. That sounded right.

DuckyLinJi 10-27-2010 05:13 PM

Lavi had been trying to look for something in his bag when the lights went out.
He was about to curse something when not a second later the classroom was filled with colorful light. It was beautiful and ...very distracting.

Lavi pushed his hand in the air when the professor asked a question. "Isn't the Q..Qui..something Tribe located in uh Washington, professor ?" he asked more than answered. "And The population was around 400, i think"

Di nodded. "You're all correct," she agreed. "The Quileute tribe - it's Quileute by the way, Mr. Saitoh -" She smiled slightly - "Is a group of American Indians based in the US. Their global population is under a thousand, and reported population in La Push, their main centre, round four hundred. Now, the tribe's origins are popularly linked to magic. In fact, there is a legend of sorts attached to them. Does anyone know anything about this legend?"

She cupped her hands, as she stopped speaking. Pretty lights seemed to gather in them, before seemingly floating off in other directions. Di found it fun.

Text Cut: Points board!

Finn glanced around the classroom. where weere all the ravenclaws! He surely couldn't be the only nerdy one right? Turning his attention back to the Professor, he thought about the question that she was asking. He was sure he'd read something about a legend. He wasn't too sure though, because he really couldn't remember everything that he had read. "Isn't there something about then Ancestors being shape shifters?"

Holmesian Feline 10-27-2010 06:07 PM

Simon listened to the answers given by his classmates, taking out his parchment and beginning to take notes on the subject. And the next question, he thought it over for a moment before raising his hand to answer. "Isn't it believed through folklore that the first tribesmen were created and descendant of wolves?"

DuckyLinJi 10-27-2010 06:07 PM

Lavi shifted up to replace the cushion under him better, his eyes looking at the lights as they flew towards the professors cupped hands. Without realising it himself, he too cupped his hands and watched as the lights covered them. He giggled out loud when the light flew up again in to the air. Magic always amazed him.

Lavi tried to listen to the question while looking at the colorful rainbow lights. It was much more fun to look at the lights than answer questions. But he didn't wanted to loose points , they were at the top of the HousePoints. He quickly lowered his gaze and snapped it away from the light. Luckily for him he had heard the professors question. Vaguelly, but understood it.

"It has something to do with Wolf Imprint, if i'm not mistaken" he said while pushing his hand up in the air. "The imprinting is kind of like a Love at first sight but much stronger because it creates a bonding between two people that can't be broken" Lavi lowered his hand and placed them on his lap. "Aww that's so cute!" he said out loud.

Iris listened to the Professor as she talked. Hmm, so Iris WAS right. Go her. Hehe.

As the next question was asked, Iris frowned. Now, that she didn't know. The prefect frowned as she tried to think. The professor was playing with the light in her hand... and had used those fancy chandeliers...

Did that have anything to do with the lesson? Or was the professor just liking the lighting? Frowning a bit more, Iris really tried to come up with an answer. The prefect raised her hand, uncertain of her answer. "Does the magic have anything to do with colour... and light? I just thought that it might, y'know, because of that pretty magicky thing you're doing there." The girl indicated to the professors hand as she spoke.

Even though she was probably wrong, Iris didn't care much. That was the only way she was going to learn anything.

MugglesStink! 10-27-2010 07:36 PM

Adelyn shot up her hand. She remembered reading something, but not the title, about Quilute people. "They desent from vampires - I think, maybe werewolves" she said.

Roselyn 10-27-2010 07:56 PM

Evelyn...well the Slytherin was too distracted to here what the Professor had asked her before class had started. Rude? Perhaps, but she didn't care. As long as she wasn't being set on fire, her eyes were going to be focused on the doo-

EEP! PATROCLUS! Not the Gryffindor she was looking for, but he certainly was welcome. Smiling at him, the fourth year glanced around, only spotting Simon and Cookie Girl before the class started. Crud. She was going to be investigating after class. Where were those two!?

It was making her a teeny bit nervous.

"Indeed not, Miss Frost," Di smiled. "Right on time."

Yep.

"Miss Kelly," Di acknowledged. "I hope you're doing fine.... oh, and nice shoes." Random remark? No, Di really did like them.

"I'm doing fine, thank you, Prefect Beaumont," Di replied, pleasantly. "I hope you are, too?"

Di's gaze flitted away from Mr. Hudson as she heard a familiar voice. "Good morning, Miss Schwarzberg," she smiled.

"Hello, Miss Salvatore," Di smiled. "... and how are you, today?"

Kurumi thought for a moment before raising her hand. "Professor, isn't the Quileute tribe known for being very talented builders and craftsmen? I've also read that they are located in western Washington in the United States and that there are about 750 known members." Known was probably the best term to use at the moment since it is very possible that there were a lot more but silly muggles like herself just didn't know about the rest. That seemed to be a pattern with the wizarding world.

"I've read that in the tribe's creation story first ever person of the Quileute tribe, known as the Alpha, was created by transforming a wolf. I've also read somewhere that werewolves is not exactly the correct term to be used in describing them. While both share the same traits of superhuman strength and senses, far beyond those of both wolves and men, werewolves only change shape under the full moon. The people of the Quileute tribe do so as a self defense and at will."

Vashti had heard about this tribe before but had to think for a few moments before finally recalling the answer (what she hoped was the answer anyway) and raising her hand. "I remember hearing about a legend that says the Quileute people are descended from wolves that were turned into men, so they're supposed to be werewolves. And...I think their tribe's name has to do with a wolf too because of this legend. It's their word for 'wolf' in their language or something." She had no idea what the word actually was though. The quill-whatsit tribe? Of whowhats? From where?

Fletcher literally stared at the professor with quite a blank look on his face. His mouth even dropped open a little and he blinked several times in confusion. How the hell was he supposed to know anything about India based in America based the US based in legend based in whaaaa? He could hardly find Scotland on a map, much less India and America and who had even heard of the the US!

"Errrrrrrr," the boy drawled for an answer, glancing around at his classmates for inspiration. He certainly knew of no legend but that didn't mean he couldn't make one up. "That Quileute word sounds French. So does La Push. So the only legend I've heard of," or made up, "is that the Quilwhatnots were attacked by mad French men who wanted all of the American Indie's spices. To fight off the Frenchies, the Quil tribe had to transform into... big dogs. Yeah. Great big transformer dogs that give you rabies when they bite you. So the Quildogs successfully fought off the Frenchies and got to keep their secret recipe of spices. They all made a treaty and the only thing the French got to keep was the name of the place. They called it La Push, obviously, cuz they had been pushed away from stealing all the Indie land and spices."

All finished with his solid answer, Fletcher sat back on his cushion with a deep nod. Maybe the professor was as awful at geography at Fletcher was. The boy at least knew that France was nowhere near America OR India.... oh well. French people had wicked evil skillz, like Noel. So as far as this Hufflepuff was concerned, his theory could still be plausible.

Nod, nod, nod.

"You're all correct," Di said. "Take a point each."

She spoke to the class, in general. "There are a number of variants of the legend, but the one most agreed upon is that a mythical creature transformed a wolf to create the first member of Quileute tribe. From then on, members of the Quileute tribe could transform or 'shape-shift' into wolves at will, though they only employed their powers for defense or in times of danger. Now, this means that the Quileute tribe is not -" Di smiled lightly at Miss Flores-Shepard - "a 'bunch of werewolves,' given that members can change at any point in time, and the transformation entails no pain."

She paused. "The Quileute tribe has existed for a long, long time, and did so before the Statue of Secrecy - the law currently in place that prevents witches and wizards from revealing themselves in front of muggles - was implemented. This is one of the main reasons that, in old times, muggles claimed to have seen Quileute members transform. This gave rise to stories that were handed down and are still handed down but, fortunately, modern muggles consider them to be no more than myths and legends. Now, the question is, what do you think gave rise to all these myths and legends? It's obvious that the Quileute tribe isn't a bunch of werewolves, because they can transform any time but the fact is, they can transform into wolves. How?"

It was a simple question, really.

Well that sucked. And was utterly boring.

Change at any point in time and entails no pain? Sounded like the characteristics of an animagi now don't it? Yes, it did. Who knew?! US had magic in it too!

Sighing, she took out her notebook and pencil, since she couldn't find her quill that day, and wrote down a few things on an empty page. It was a rather older tribe now that she heard. Before the Statue of Secrecy? They were ANCIENT! Like her dad. Of course, she wouldn't say such things. Out loud that is.

Hearing the question, a small smile played across her lips as she looked up. Well, she'd just need to repeat her thoughts don't she? However, she had read up all on the specific subject over the summer and even before then so she still doubted her answer, but it could happen right? A group of people having the same form? "So they weren't werewolves but... animagi? I mean, it'd explain the fact that they could transform at any time they wanted, and be pain free. Besides, i don't think it's completely impossible that there could be a group of people having the same animagi form in one area. If their inner nature was like their fathers, and father's fathers or whoever was before them, then it would be the same."

Right? That was the only explanation! That she could think of at least.

Grayson had been fascinated by the chandeliers that had suddenly appeared in the classeroom as it darkened, and as such found she missed answering the first couple questions. Of course, Finn had though, so Ravenclaw was still on the board. And she couldn't help but turn and grin at Salander, still seated next to her, as he mentioned Lupin and Greyback. Werewolves weren't really what they were talking about, but it was still cool he'd brought them up. To her, at least.

But as they continued the discussion, she found herself glancing at Evelyn before bringing her attention fully back to Professor Markovic. Raising her hand, she spoke. "It's possible the Quileutes were animagi, but I don't think any of the stories mention wands. And don't animagi still need wands to transform?," she asked, feeling like they were going far away from Runes with this discussion. Like class had turned into Transfiguration. "Also, I think there's stories that the tribesmen who shifted sometimes didn't actually have complete control over when they shifted. Like, that they did when they got really angry. Something like that, which I'm not sure really goes along with them being simply animagi either." Then she lowered her hand, feeling like she hadn't really gotten anywhere with her answer. Thinking out loud sucked sometimes.

"That's correct, Miss Hollingberry."

Di smiled. "There is folklore about that, though I do believe it has nothing to do with that of the tribe's origins."

Sooo.

"Take a point for Slytherin for the information, Mr. Saitoh."

Di's eyes lit up. "You're getting a bit ahead, you know," she said. "That's a good thing, actually. The runes are certainly linked to light and colour, though I'm afraid the origins aren't. Take a point for your house for thinking out-of-the-box, Prefect."

"The second part is right," Di said pleasantly. "The legend in question speaks of wolves. Take a point for you house, Miss Morey."

Miss Flores-Shepard seemed awfully distracted, today. Di made a mental note to talk to the Slytherin, after class.

"No, they aren't a bunch of werewolves," she said, though she smiled slightly at the statement. "The legend has a lot of awesome things to say on that topic, though." Including some completely ridiculous stuff that muggles had made up.

Di's eyes lit up again. "Excellently said, all four of you," she beamed. "Take two points each for your houses."

For comprehensive answers.

Di smiled lightly. "Yes, so goes the legend, Miss Emerson. Take a point for your house."

Di looked up. "Not exactly like - as you so appropriately put it, Mr. Salander - that dude Lupin," she smiled. "Or Greyback, for that matter. But along those lines, yes."

Di nodded.

"Exactly, Miss Malfoy. Take a point for Slytherin."

"Kwoli," Di supplied. "It means wolf. Take an extra point for Ravenclaw for the additional information, Miss Greenweell."

"The belief in a personal guardian is part of the culture," Di agreed. "Take a point for Hufflepuff, Miss Swynford."

It was amazing, completely amazing, how Mr. Fletcher's answers could still stun her. She had seen him fish a cookie out of his hair and eat it, and he still stunned her.

Unbelievable, right?

Blinkblink. Di... eyed the Champion. Then she said, quiet slowly, "I suppose I should give you two points for unbelievably massive creativity."

So she did.

Must. Not. Stare. At. The. Kid.

Blink. So not not quite like Lupin or Greyhoundback, but similar? Can transform into wolves without pain? Then they could be...

he took a deep breath as he declared the name of his most ultimate favorite character from all the Potter stories.....

Emmy put her hand up, saying, "Um, professor? Is it possible that they were Animagi? Or maybe even Metamorphmagi?" Could be completely wrong, but it was the only thing she could think of - and shd had to get some points somehow!

Leaning over, she whispered, "Hi Patroclus! And thanks for the party!"

Then, she noticed Treyen close by, "Hi Treyen! Are we still going exploring tonight?" she murmured.

"Professor, isn't being an Animagus something that is learned rather than hereditary?" At least, she thought she had read that somewhere. "I thought that the Quieleute tribe's ability to change into a wolf was hereditary...if so, wouldn't that make them Metamorphmagi?" Still, that didn't really explain why they only changed into wolves...some weird combination of the two perhaps?

Mell 10-28-2010 09:32 AM

Mia had been tempted to answer the previous question by saying that what she knew of the Quileute tribe was that they are all extremely good looking with smoking hot bods but she figured that's not the answer that the Professor was after.

Listening as the Professor went on with her explanation, Mia chewed on her lip as she thought about the next question and she raised her her tentatively. "By magic." She answered and then taking a deep breath, she continued. "Not necessarily being an animagi because as Grayson pointed out you need a wand to transform into an animal. The Quileute tribe's shapeshifting ability is passed down by generations and even if they were all wizards with wands does not necessarily mean that they would all be animagi's."

She paused for a moment to catch her breath before continuing. "Usually a shapeshifter is created by being cursed which causes the involuntary change into animal form, usually by being bitten or marked by another shapeshifter or a ritual using supernatural powers and magic has been performed allowing the human to change into an animal at their will."

Roselyn 10-28-2010 10:01 AM

Metamorphmagi?

Glancing over to Cookie girl, the Slytherin raised a brow as she twirled her pencil in her hand. Huh, she hadn't thought about that. Then again, she wasn't one of those people, so she why look up information on the subject? "Aren't those people like, really rare?" she asked, still looking at Cookie girl before her attention was turned back to her notebook.

The pieces fit though, and no matter how HARD it was to admit it, at least it was in her mind and not out loud. Her sullen expression may have given herself away however. "Besides, one doesn't necessarily need a wand to be an 'animagi'." There had been moments in time when people used other things such as clothing and such. True, it was for like a million other animals but still...Excuses? Perhaps!

Hearing Mia's answer however, it did get her thinking. "How do we know what they were then?" Sitting up on her comfy cushion, Evelyn set her notebook down in front of her before placing a hand on either side of herself. "I mean, part could be animagi, part could be metamorphmagi, and another part could be completely different like...what Mia said. Magic stuff. Or...it could be just that they were all weird and made others believe that they had the ability to turn into wolves because they thought it'd be cool."

Like those people who should be in St. Mungos.

Still bright-eyed, Di continued to listen to the students as they discussed and aired their views. "All of you have some pretty good points there," she said, giving a little nod of her head. "The original Quileute tribe lived in an era much like the current one, but only in the sense that magic caused suspicion and fear, in muggles. The original leader - and founder - of the tribe did happen to be an animagi; his animagus form being, unsurprisingly, a wolf. This is one of the factors that caused the wolf to become the - the and not a - symbol of strength in the tribe, to the point where some members even consider it a sacred creature."

"Traditionally, since then, the leader of the Quileute tribe has been someone that has certain qualities, one of them being that he or she has the same animagus form as the original leader. It's clear, though, that not everyone can have that animagus form and so the members that do not... say, 'improvise.' In Miss Gibbins's words, by magic. Potions, transfiguration spells, and so on. It is customary for the Quileute tribe to transform themselves at important ceremonies and on the battlefield, and it isn't uncommon for them to keep wolves - of course, in muggle territories such as La Push, this has been less possible since the establishment of the Statue of Secrecy - and this has given rise to a number of muggle myths and legends, some completely ridiculous."

Frowwwnn.

"Summing up, the wolf is central to the Quileute tradition to the point where they go to great lengths to be able to acquire its form and characteristics and that said, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that the Quileute runes - now Quileute only by name, to be honest. The majority of the current Quileute members hardly ever use them - focus on them. The older generations of the tribe consisted of hunters, craftsmen and warriors. Can anyone guess what they used the runes for?"

Amy raised her hand "maybe the warriors used them for protection or luck in battle"

Rosa Chispa Princessa 10-28-2010 04:16 PM

"I'm not sure really. I would imagine the Quilute tribe woude use runes in a bit of a spiritual way in believing that their runes have the power to help them through different points in their life when they need them. They may have cetain runes that are for good luck but just like other rune sets I believe they also have runes that could help keep them sheltered, safe, or even give them knowledge to know when an enemy is coming or wisdom to know what is best for their tribe. Being as highly spiritual as the Quilute tribe is said to be I would imagine their runes would be as powerful as most other runes I've learned about over the years", Chloe responded rasing her hand.

HOPEendures 10-28-2010 07:46 PM

"Well probably protection would be the most idea reason for them to use a rune," Daisy said raising her hand.

sweetpinkpixie 10-28-2010 09:30 PM

Kurumi had been trying to make the connection between runes and wolf people ever since the discussion began, but nothing outside of what other had already said was sticking with her. Protection, sure, but was it really all that simple? "Maybe, when they are in wolf form it is hard to tell each other apart within the tribe and from other wolves, so runes are used as a sort of name tag?" She had to stop herself from saying doggie tag. That would have been rude.

Steelsheen 10-28-2010 10:20 PM

Eh, what can tribesmen use Runes for? Maybe get them out of maze like caves?

Which reminds him of another story...

"Maybe like other Native Americans, they use runes to record accounts of their heroic feats, or to honor their dead, you know like rune carvings on tombstones."

Vashti's first thought as to what these wolf people would do with runes probably didn't have much to do with hunting, crafting, or fighting, but hey, it was worth a shot guessing, right? And even if she was wrong, her second thought had to do with the craftsmen, so she'd hopefully still be correct somehow. "Maybe when the people were in their wolf animagus form, they could use runes to communicate, since they couldn't talk to each other normally like a human would," she said after raising her hand. "And since animagi retain the ability to think like a human, they'd be able to understand what the runes meant and what the other person - wolf - was trying to say." That made sense, right? "Or maybe, for the craftsmen, they'd decorate whatever it was they were making with a certain rune or runes to bring various things like protection, prosperity, good luck, and all that, to whoever was going to buy and use their product."

BearyMay 10-29-2010 02:55 AM

Dianna raised her hand, "Maybe they used it for recording and maybe they believed it to be some kind of charm that will keep them away from bad spirits.." Dianna said as she lowered her hand. Well it was worth a shot.

Indeed. Di nodded. "The then Quileute tribe focused on the hunt, building and the battlefield so the runes, in turn, focus on similar things. There are five Quileute runes in total: the Rune of Battle, the Rune of Protection, the Rune of the Hunter, the Rune of the Craftsman, and the Blank Rune. I said earlier that the runes are linked to light and colour... for each rune, a colour that the Quileute believed corresponded to it. Can anyone guess the colour linked to the Rune of Battle?"

Blinkblink. Di... eyed the Champion. Then she said, quiet slowly, "I suppose I should give you two points for unbelievably massive creativity."

So she did.

Yeah see, Fletcher had soooo been right in answering that question. So right. He was so so smart. Only... :whaa:

He was only getting points for creativity? Did that mean he was wrong, then? What was massive creativtiy, come to think of it. Was it better than regular creativity? Huhhhhhh?

Fletcher squinted at the teacher and tried to work out her last response to him while she, meanwhile, turned back to the other students. Well la de la de dah. He would answer this new question with a much smarter response.

"It's gotta be a maroonish, uby-ish, deep scarletty blood red, Professor," the Champion answered with a mannod. "Cuz Battles result in death and spilled blood and duh, blood is red. Unless you're a vampire. Cuz then you don't have blood."

It was necessary to point that out, he thought.

"Crimson or a shade of red?" Kurumi asked. "It is the color of blood and also represents fire and is associated with power and importance."

She giggled at the Hufflepuff boy's answer. He was an amusing character to be sure.

"I suppose you don't, then," Di said, thoughtfully. She had yet to ask a vampire if they didn't have blood, or just had... blood of a different kind. Secretive bunch, vampires. They didn't let on much about themselves and they didn't care about stories that made them into all sorts of monsters.

Back to the topic, then.

"It's a bright shade of red," Di agreed. "Red is known to signify importance, aggression, viciousness, anger, hatred and victory... all things central to the battlefield. The Rune of the Battle is known to the Quileute tribe as the Red Wolf." Di flicked her wand, causing a small, hard rune to appear in front of each student, suspended in midair.

She picked the rune that had appeared in front of herself, and placed it on one outstretched palm. The rune began to glow brightly, the moment a coloured beam of light hit it. "Properly invoked Quileute runes react to light. This one, as you can tell, gleams a dazzling red." Di found the sight rather gorgeous, but she tucked the rune under her cushion to continue.

Eh, no. Evelyn was still in the thought process of animagi versus metamorphmagi that she missed the next question. Something about something obviously, but who cares? It wasn’t like she was going to use this information in the future. Her job that she wanted to pursue had nothing to do with runes. And if it did well it didn’t matter. They had textbook stuff on this stuff.

However, as the answers continued, the Slytherin’s gaze wandered around the room. Josh was not there, and of course, Boyfriend Stealer wasn’t there either. Taking a deep breath, she sighed and looked back to the front of the room, staring at the rune that suddenly appeared in front of her face. But the one the Professor held… that WAS a bright red. It reminded her of Josh.

Aw Josh…

Going onto the next rune though, Evelyn finally came back to reality and raised a brow. Rune of Protection? What kind of color symbolized protection? "Blue? I suppose..." she muttered, half lazily raising her hand to answer before it dropped back in her lap. Some shield spells had that color to it soooo, why not?

BanaBatGirl 10-29-2010 04:55 AM

"Gold!!!" Fletcher randomly picked a color, drawing inspiration from the room around him and from his own Hufflepuff robes. "Gold cuz it's like.... locks and keys and stuff... and if you have a buncha gold you can afford to hire a bodyguard to protect you."

That right thar is what ya call LOGIC. He reached a hand out for his floating red rune. Ooooh. Shiny.

Blue? Gold? Well since no one has said it yet...

"Green! Cuz one of the runes for protection is green" he replied. Was it? He wasnt that sure, but he just wanted Slytherin represented somewhere in there y'know?

Kurumi looked at cookie hater. Beat her to it, but Kurumi had also been thinking about blue. "I think blue as well," she said a little defeated. "I've read that the pharaohs of ancient Egypt wore blue for protection against evil." What all a pack of wolves needed protecting from was another story. Hunters?

Di had to smile at all the answers. Blue, gold, green... house colours. "Blue is correct," she said. "The Rune of Protection, or the Blue Wolf." One had to say, the names sounded a lot more imposing - even if longer - in the actual language. "Historically, blue has been one of the most commonly used colours, in terms of 'protection."

This time round, a blue-ish rune came to rest next to the red rune already in front of each student. "This rune gleams a gorgeous azure in the light," Di said, demonstrating by holding a rune up so that the light could hit it. The rune began to glow a lovely, soft blue, in result. She tucked it under her cushion before continuing.

sweetpinkpixie 10-29-2010 07:32 AM

Oooooohhhh....pretty shinny runes..and now there were two! Did they get to keep these? That would be pretty awesome if they did.

"Perhaps a shade of brown? Brown is found in earth, wood, and stone which are all used by craftsmen."

Kurumi reached out and poke one of her floating runes and made it spin in the air sending blue sparkles all around. Oooooh...shinny...

Roselyn 10-29-2010 07:45 AM

Staring at the blue rune, Evelyn tilted her head to the side some, before leaning back on the cushion. With her gaze flickering in between the blue and red rune, her concentration on the professor and what she was saying was starting to dwindle. Seemed like that was happening a lot lately.

However, she did hear the next rune. Craftsman or builder? Well, she had to agree with whoever mention brown and green. But Evelyn always thought of a craftsman or builder to be working with tools and such. Like...those hammer things she saw in Muggle Studies class. "Perhaps silver? Or grey. Whichever describes the color more." she said, her attention finally focused on the professor.

Or at least the general area of the front of the class. Glowing runes can be quite the distraction.

BearyMay 10-29-2010 07:56 AM

"Erm... Gold or yellow maybe? Because that could be interpreted as bringing good luck with trading...?" Maybe? Just a guess...

Oooooh! More shinny things to look at! Oh right, another question. Hmmm...wasn't there a color called hunter green? She could have sworn her brothers had been arguing once over whether a t-shirt was forest green or hunter green. Kurumi never did learn what the difference was.

"Green? Hunters are often in forests...and those are green...with trees," she said adding on the last bit to make it sound a little more educated.

tonks2 10-29-2010 08:31 AM

Hunter...? Hmmm. "Um, could it maybe be black for stealth? I would say red for blood except that's been taken... Or maybe even green - for freedom - like hunting in the forest or in grass..." she groaned - too many options!

Roselyn 10-29-2010 08:32 AM

Meep!

Pfft, Cookie girl. Glancing over to the younger girl, Evelyn stared for a moment before a small smile actually replaced the frown on her lips before looking to the rune that appeared in front of her. However, it did turn all sneaky like and mischievous so who knows what that could have meant.

Poking each rune, her thoughts turned to what could represent the rune of a hunter. These were some, rather plane names for runes. Hunters were...bleh. She had no clue. They hunted stuff. They were...earthy people right? Play around in the woods... Brown was already said though sooo. "How about orange? Why? Because the color reminded her of Huffies and well, they had a badger for a mascot. Didn't badgers like, play in dirt and stuff?

Mell 10-29-2010 08:47 AM

Hmmm, the hunter? Mia chewed on her lip for a moment before raising her hand, "I think the rune color for the hunter is green bordering more on the darker side of green rather than light green."

She wasn't positive that it was the right answer but she figured hunters were connected to the earth and to her the earth element said 'green.'

Mia knew a little about gray wolves but she was not sure why it was associated with the Rune of the Hunter but she raised her hand. "Gray wolves tend to hunt in packs, they live in nuclear families consisting of a mated pair followed by biological offspring. They are extremely territorial and they usually live in places where there is an abundance of prey." She paused for a moment while thinking about it. "Perhaps the rune is associated with the gray wolf because the similarities between human traits and the gray wolf are very close to one another."

sweetpinkpixie 10-29-2010 09:24 AM

sooo trying not to have a total Wolf's Rain moment...

"They are the best hunters?" she asked naively. Better put some more thought into this one. "There is a story in Japan that when the end of the world comes, Paradise will appear only wolves will know how to find it. The story also tells of a people who can change into wolves and the leader of this group is able to turn into a grey wolf..." There was a connection, even if it was a little bit of a stretch. "So, the grey wolf is the best at hunting or searching for paradise, or whatever it is seeking."

The Slytherin lad stared at the various colored runes assembled before him. He was as fascinated over the engravings as much as the color symbolisms. "The gray wolves are known to be at the very top of their food chain. They're the top hunters, one of the few animals that arent food for another animal."

Freya raised her eyebrows. The associated between the Rune of Hunter and the Gray Wolf? She raised her hand "Isn't that because Wolves were generally revered by tribes that survived by hunting, Professor?" she asked. "I had had read a book about some tribes in the native America respected the wolf's hunting skill and tried to emulate the wolf in order to hunt successfully. So maybe that's why The Rune of the Hunter is Gray Wolf." she said and lowering her hand.

PattyH. 10-29-2010 01:49 PM

Patroclus had so far been rather silent, he was not very quick today.

The dive roll, must had jostled his brain! But now it was time to speak up!
"Professor, this maybe a stretch, but with large Primates for example Gorillas those with Silver or Gray markings are usual classified as the leaders. And in tribes those that are the Hunters are also usually the Leaders, as they are the ones that make the decisions, deciding when to move when the prey moves." Gorillas....wolves.....same thing! NOT!

Rosa Chispa Princessa 10-29-2010 02:48 PM

"I would think it's because the alpha male whom in superstition turns into wolf leads the pack. And some students have mentioned that in monkeys the silver back gorrilla leads the pack so it makes sense for it to be so with werewolves as well. Which means it's only natural for the quilute tribe to have high respect for the grey wolf to be it's symbol for the great hunter rune.", Chloe said with her high in the air.

BanaBatGirl 10-29-2010 03:37 PM

Hmmmmph. Just look at that Kurumi girl. What was with this Gryffie firstie getting all the answers correct? Sure she had been adorable asking for help in Transfiguration... but that didn't mean she got to be cute in all the other classes! Professors were going to start giving her points and basing their lessons around the too-smart-for-an-eleven-year-old-oh-look-at-me-I'm-so-tiny firstie!!! NOT FAIR!

Fletcher wrinkled his nose but kept his thoughts to himself, choosing instead to play with the colorful runes on his desk. He lined them up like dominoes and then raised his hand to chance another HOPEFULLY correct guess at the question.

"Wolf like meat. Wolf eat meat. Wolf hunt meat. Animal have meat. Human are animal. Human have meat. Wolf hunt human. Wolf eat human. Human respect wolf hunt."

Why did that.... come out sounding so caveman-ish....? Fletcher shook his hair and elaborated on his answer. "Er... I mean... like everybody said, wolves have to hunt to survive so... they're hunters.... and they have gray fur because they used to have brown fur when they were younger but as they got older their fur grayed. Just like yo--- I mean, just like old human peoples' heads."

Yeah this professor didn't have any gray hair that Fletcher could see, but that didn't mean she wouldn't have a few strands by the end of this lesson. Snickerrrrr.

lilithpotter 10-29-2010 04:38 PM

"In most cases the grey wolf is the leader of the pack. They are to be known for there wisdom and knowledge. In a hunting situation they would be the ones who would make the decisions"She said. She was intrested but she kept thinking the last time they were handed runes. Please no more mazes.

BearyMay 10-29-2010 11:52 PM

"Because grey wolves just like in Japanese mythology were portrayed as almost god-like and Ancient Greeks associated wolves with the sun god Apollo. So these wolves are like the alpha's. Also they are known to have more success in hunting alone rather than in a pack and they make their own choices." she said as she lowered her hand.

They are extremely territorial and they usually live in places where there is an abundance of prey." She paused for a moment while thinking about it. "Perhaps the rune is associated with the gray wolf because the similarities between human traits and the gray wolf are very close to one another."

"That's not exactly it, but good thinking, Miss Gibbins," Di said. "Take a point for your house."

NOT!

Gorillas? Di... resisted the urge to smile. No, not at the answer, at the fact that Mr. Hudson had managed to pull gorillas into this!

"One answer is as good as another," she smiled brightly. "Take a point for your house."

Not the right answer, but one that had some thought put into it, all the same. Di gave the girl a little nod. "Not exactly, Miss Merets, but take a point for your house."

"Wolf like meat. Wolf eat meat. Wolf hunt meat. Animal have meat. Human are animal. Human have meat. Wolf hunt human. Wolf eat human. Human respect wolf hunt."

Why did that.... come out sounding so caveman-ish....? Fletcher shook his hair and elaborated on his answer. "Er... The story also tells of a people who can change into wolves and the leader of this group is able to turn into a grey wolf..." There was a connection, even if it was a little bit of a stretch. She had to smile at Kurumi's first statement. "That's it, more or less," the Professor said. "Or, at least, in the then-Quileute tribe's opinion. That said, wolves are excellent hunters. I don't know if they can find paradise, Miss Hollinberry -" She smiled lightly - "But they probably have a good chance if anyone does, if that scenario ever happens... Blank Rune? Like a blank slate? Did that mean it was white? Was it possible for a run to be clear? Or maybe it was black because in nothingness there is everything...or something like that. Clearly, she was over thinking this and her brain was going to be fry. Or...maybe it was along the lines of black, meaning that it embodied everything?

"Professor, is this blank rune perhaps like the blank tile in muggle game Scrabble? It is the tile that you can use for any letter of the alphabet."

She paused for a moment.

"So...maybe it means adaptability and change?" They were shape shifters after all. "Like...maybe it is the rune of the shape shifters?"

A blank rune? What could possibly be the use in a rune that was blank? Hm. It was probably either white or black - those were the first two colors Vashti tended to think of when something was blank. But what could it mean? Hmmmm...

Finally, she raised her hand. "The Blank Rune could be white, like a blank page or like...dull, blank, whiteness, like everything would be if there weren't other colors and all that," she said a little uncertainly. Kind of a weird comparison, that last bit, now that she thought about it. She probably should've just stuck with the blank page one. Ah well. Moving on. "And it's meaning...maybe it could mean a beginning, or starting from nothing, kind of like the legend about how the tribe was created. They were wolves once, not people, but then their creator came and turned those wolves into people, so, in a way, they started their tribe from nothing and it grew into what it is today. So maybe the Blank Rune kind of symbolizes that and reminds them of their origins and how they began." Or how they believed they began, depending on how one viewed it and whether it was entirely true or not.

Taking down each rune one by one, and observing each detail, Evelyn glanced over when something about a Blank rune was mentioned. Why in the world were there blank runes anyways? Did they just happen to run out of ideas of runes and decided to just pick a meaning for the last rune? Which happened to be blank obviously. Made perfect sense in her mind at least.

Holding the glowish runes, creating a weird little rainbow like thing in her hands, the Slytherin looked back up to the ceiling, trying to think of the reason for this oh so mysterious blank rune.

Cookie girl’s answer echoed in her mind, though it wasn’t what she was thinking of for the meaning of the rune. "Since, it’s a ‘blank’ rune an all…perhaps the color is white?" she asked, her head tilting to the side so she could actually glance towards the Professor without straining her eyes. However, a moment later she went back to leaning against her cushion, and staring at the ceiling. "And it could mean something about them in general? I mean, they’ve all been about them, but I mean something on the inside. Like their inner strength or just the entire focus of who they are as a whole? In other words, the rune could represent them, and all of them combined as one. Not necessarily their origins like someone had mentioned..." Whoever that was. "But...yea. Kinda like a family rune."

That…sounded so much better in her mind.

The blank rune? Huh.....

The Slytherin lad was drawing a -- well blank. What does a wolf-centric tribe want with a blank rune? If it was blank then there were no nifty engravings of wolves on that rune now would there? And that would look like-- well nothing. It would be empty. Totally clear.

Hmm.

Salander raised his hand and replied "Maybe the rune doesnt have any colors, it would be clear because y'know its-- blank, its empty. And when the wolves see something thats empty, it means... they got no food and they hafta hunt? Otherwise their tummys are gonna be as empty as that blank rune. And thats a threat to their survival. Which can be the same for the tribe-- its a rune that tells them they have to do something or they face a bleak future." he was so grasping at straws here.

... and there came another correct answer. Di nodded brightly at the Slytherin girl though, when she spoke, she spoke to all the students gathered in the classroom.

"The Blank Rune is just that... a blank. Colourless." The last rune appeared in front of each student as Di spoke, a hard, transparent nugget that sparkled like a diamond. "It represents - for lack of a better phrase - everything Quileute. The tribe; its beliefs, spirituality and customs; their purpose, history and trades; and the other runes. It's the 'lucky stone' in a sense, and it links all the runes, causing their energies to multiply and flow more fluidly... and of course, it does the most marvellous things in actual light."

She held up the rune, showing how its illumination was the illumination in the room: all sorts of colours, soft and many and pretty, radiating from the rune in gentle waves.

Collecting all five of the runes that had appeared in front of her, Di made them disappear, before addressing the class again. "We're going to recreate a Quileute battle, today," she said cheerfully. "This is the battleground." This meaning the classroom. "Your weapons are -" Fliiick of the wand, and a pile of fat pillows and cushions appeared in a corner of the room. "- Over there." The pillows and cushions? YUS. "Each of you has five Quileute runes, so make the most of them. Stick them to a pillow, wear them round your neck, braid them in your hair, the choice is yours."

"The cushions you're seated on are going to disappear, once you get up. There's an endless supply of pillows -" Near enough, that is -"So you can pick up more, later on. Sooo... once I give the go-ahead, the battle is on."

So saying, Di got up. Her cushion disappeared as could be expected, but she appeared not to notice. The Runes Professor skipped over to the pillow!cushion!pile and strapped a small, round cushion to her head. What? She had to make sure she stayed safe!

Kurumi's gaze flew towards cookie hater and a nervous smile crept across her face. She was going to need to keep that protection rune...and maybe about 100 more of them.

She put all the runes into her robe's pocket for the moment and made a mad dash towards the pillows and grabbed as many as her short arms could carry - she even had one in her mouth. Why waste a perfectly good carrying method? Returning to her spot, she tossed all her pillows on the ground and took out her runes again. She was definitely going to need that protection one. She took the blue rune and stuck it to her headband and put it back on her head but instead of using it to hold her hair back, she let it sit on her forehead to that the blue gem was dead center and only slightly covered by her bangs.

Hmmmm...what next. That hunter rune seemed like something that would be helpful. Since she was right handed, she stuck the wand to her hand and charmed some bandages to keep the silver rune in place. She then took the red rune and did the same to her other hand. She looked at the craftsman's rune and wasn't sure how to use that one just yet, so she put it back into her pocket. She still had the blank rune, the rune that was everything that the tribe represented. That was probably something that should be kept close to the heart, so she wore that one like a necklace.

There, now little Rune Warrior Kurumi was ready for battle...ish...

She took a pillow and hugged it close to her chest.

Roselyn 10-30-2010 01:04 PM

Evelyn couldn’t help but think that, this was totally her favorite rune now. Yes, it was because of the colors, but just look at it! It was rather pretty. No one could know that though. Pfft. As far as anyone can tell, in her opinion, she didn’t like rainbow stuff. So there.

Picking up the blank rune, the Slytherin held it up to the light, staring at all the colors with a serene smile dancing across her lips, threatening to turn into something actually happy before her ears picked up the words 'battle' and 'weapons'. Of course, everything else in between, but those two really stood out. Perhaps Professor Marko-polo was a cousin of Professor Lainey- Eh!? Her cushion was going to disappear once she got off!?

But she didn' wan' it to disappear! Grr!

It was Cookie Girl’s fault. Why? Because it just was. Sighing loudly, the Slytherin flipped herself over on the cushion, laying on her stomach, and scooted herself over to the pillows with her feet. She wanted the comfy-ness of her comfy comfy-ness as long as she comfortably could. Stacking up on pillows until her legs and eyes were pretty much the only visible thing, Evelyn STARED at Cookie Girl as she scooted herself back to where she previously had sat. She was GOING DOWN!

Now, what to do with the runes? Grumbling, she flung the pillows off herself before sitting up and pulling the runes out from the sleeve of her Slytherin sweater. Right, soooo...obviously they could use magic for this part right? Conjuring a rope, since that was pretty much the only thing she could really conjure without it going wrong, the Slytherin used it to tie a pillow to her front. That's what was going to keep the runes safe. Into the pillow they went! Except the Blank Rune. That one was tucked neatly and safely in the rope, squished against the pillow.

Now. Cookie girl! Where are you!?

HOPEendures 10-30-2010 01:26 PM

Daisy took down the last of her notes. A pillow, cushion fight was about to get started and she wasn't going to be unprotected and left without a pillow or cushion. She looked at the runes she had and decided you could never go wrong with a quick braid. One by one they were placed into her hair and she felt as if something felt right about it. The long french braid completed and resting on her right shoulder she ran after the pillows and grabbed as many as she could, about six, and then got ready for what was to be the most EPIC pillow fight she'd ever encountered.

lilithpotter 10-30-2010 02:17 PM

Rene got up and noticed the very comfy cushion had disappeared as told it would. She marched over to the pile of pilllows and grabbed a few. Conjuring some rope she tied them to her head, two around her torso front and back and two around each knee.

She stood there and wondered where she would stick her runes. The Protection and Blank rune she would braid into a rope and wear around her neck.

Two down three more to go. The next she put the battle rune on a rope and stuck it in the front pillow around her torso.

The Hunting rune she stuffed in the pillow on her head and Latly the Craftsman rune she stuffed in the pillow on her left knee.

She thought she had a good plan dont keep the runes together then she could keep them safe.

Canoir Greengrass 10-30-2010 06:34 PM

Pillow fights? Oh this is going to be fuuuuuuuunnnnn. Freya got up from her comfy seat and started to collect as much pillows she could carry. She grabbed the runes and wore them around her neck. Okay now she is ready for the battle. Bring It On..!!!

Nixy! 10-30-2010 06:54 PM

Pillow fights....

Iris was pretty sure that this was not going to be an acurate reinactment of this battle.

The prefect listened to the teacher talk, getting a bit confused at places. In all honesty, she'd gotten a bit confused with all the runes. GAH.

She stood up, and waved goodbye to her pillow, then skipped over to the giiiant pile of pillows, and picked up some that she liked the luck of.

There was a huge green square one, a polka dot one, and a couple of smaller ones with rainbow coloured tassles on. There, they'd suffice for now. Noooow, to find a corner to sit down in and sort out her five runes. Where'd she put them? Surely, if she were to put them ON the pillows, then she'd lose the runes at some point. It'd probably be better to put them ON her somehow.

Teehee. PILLOW FIGHTS! Wooo!
