Rhea couldn't believe she lost track of time. She had been sitting around by the lake doing absolutely nothing but counting down the time until she had the meeting and now she was sure she would be late for it. She took the steps two at a time and was huffing (teehee) and puffing by the time she got to the top. They needed to invent special ways for badgers and snakes to get to the towers, they were just not used to that many stairs. Whew.
She hurried past the visiting section, no time to stop and say hi to Riven, she was upset with him anyways for visiting her with a dead rat stuffed in his beak, eeew. When she finally entered the room in the tower she stopped by the door. gross dried owl poop, maybe she should use a free saturday to practice her housing cleaning spells in here. She saw the back of Professor Carlton and hurried in. Two other students was there. "Hello, sorry If I'm late..I err, had problems with the stairs."(and totally lost track of time)

Jack walked into the owlery and attatched his letter to a school owl. His owl was at his parents house. "Take this to my cousin. He's called Desmond." he said to the owl and watched it fly off.

Whoo, time for another Invitations Committee meeting, and this time in the Owlery! Sweet. Vashti hadn't been up here much, as she didn't have an owl and thought it might be odd to send her Muggle parents a letter by owl, especially with the neighborhood they lived in, so she tried to refrain from it as much as possible.
When she reached the room, she noticed a few other people here, although it didn't seem quite as full as their first meeting was. Were people afraid of owls or something? Hm. "Hi all," she said.

Keeley skipped to the owlry, hoping that she was in the right place. After all, she'd never been there. Why? Because sending a letter with an imaginary owl to an imaginary family would be rather pointless. Oh well. She pushed her red fedora hat higher onto her head and waved at all the invitation peoples.

"Higherrrrrrr," Jadyn giggled as her daddy climbed the stairs with her on his back. Giving her a piggy back ride up this high was definitely much easier than letting her walk. Fussiness would have ensued. Crying and whining. Something he was totally not good at dealing with. Nope.
"Hello," he breathed as he finally entered into the room they were supposed to be meeting. Whew.

Every step the young Hufflepuff took up the stairs leading to the Owlery was a reluctant motion, growing stronger the further she went, dreading the moment she'd actually reach the top. Of course Katie had known being on the invitations committee would involve actually sending the invites and still, knowing completely and totally that there would be owls at some point, she had signed up.
It wasn't until now she started having second thoughts, when those doubts didn't actually matter anymore because it was TOO late to back out. It'll be fine, just fine . Finally arriving at the top landing, Katie took to standing on one side of the archway and eyed the closest owl. "Sorry if I'm late," Katie murmured, just loud enough to be heard if she were lucky.

Slowly, trying not to make a single sound, Antonia crept into the owlery. She was afraid she would be the last person to arrive and didn't want to draw attention to herself, but she was relieved to see that the meeting appeared not to have actually started yet.
With a toss of her long blonde hair, the tiny girl walked towards a chair in the back of the room and took a seat.

Having gotten involved with a group of housemates doing homework, Simon had been distracted nearly forgetting the time he was supposed to meet up in the owlery. Geez not a good impression he mused to himself as he left his fellows seeing as he was supposed to be helping out with stuff for the upcoming event.
Thankful that the common room wasn't too far from the passage to the correct tower, the Gryffindor quickly headed for the owlery, noticing he wasn't the only ones running late.
Sophia was going to the Owlery for the Invitations Committee Meeting. She'll get to see her owl, Hedwig, too. When she was there already, she saw some students from the committee, and Professor Carlton. "Err. Sorry I'm late"

Oh, crap! Was she late? Judging by the amount of people already in the Owlery she totally was. Oops. Nancy slowly entered the room, trying to look as inconspicuous about it as possible...maybe nobody would notice her late arrival? Maybe? Yes? With a quick glance around at the other people she was relieved to see that they hadn't really started with the meeting yet...at least it seemed like it.
Nooooooow...? The Prefect put on her 'I have totally been here all along'-smile as she looked at Professor Carlton and Mr. Masterson...and his cute little girl expectantly. Did they have a list of names or something?
Fallon hurried up the stairs to the owlery. By the time she reached the top, she was pretty tired and had planned on resting for a long while before going back down. She looked around at the bunch of people already gathered there. She hoped she wasn't going to be the last late person.
She smiled at Mr. Masterson and Professor Carlton before going to stand with everyone else.
With a handful of Alumni Ball invitations in her hand, Lexi Carlton made her way from the third floor, the floor her office was on, to the seventh floor, the floor the Owlery was on. She took about a minute to peek in and say hello to Apollo, her snowy white owl, before making her way to the place the Invitations Committee would meet.
Stepping into the room, Lexi glanced around in search of any committee members. She thought there would be more in attendance already, but for some reason, she was only able to find Lysandra Malfoy. "Miss Malfoy," she greeted, making her way over to the Slytherin girl. "How are you today?"
Lysandra heard someone coming and saw Professor Carlton come into the room. She headed over to were Lysandra was at. Professor Carlton she greeted back. I'm good today and how are you? she asked back.
The boy grimaced a little and ducked through the people, found his owl, Fly, and tied a letter to the creature's leg. He wasted no time in sending the owl away and running back down again. Heck yes, he'd just asked someone to the ball.

Smiling at Lysandra, Lexi said, "Oh, I'm just fine. Thanks." She shuffled through the pretty large stack of invitations in her hand as she waited around for more committee members to show up. Hopefully they hadn't forgotten about the meeting---did she need to send them an owl, too? Deciding that they'd probably be arriving soon, the professor just relaxed on one of the railings and quietly admired the surroundings.
Pretty soon, lots more committee members came in, most apologizing for being late. "Oh, don't worry---you're not late," she assured them. She'd only been here waiting around for about a minute or two anyway. "Alright, so...we'll go ahead and get started, then when the others show up, they can just jump right on in." She smiled and waved at Masterson and his cute little girl as she talked.
She distributed a few Slytherin invitations to those already in attendance. "Mmkay, these are already addressed, so just call for an owl and attach one or two invitations to its leg," she said. "I'm giving each of you about four or five invitations, though, so you'll probably need to call at least two owls."
Emmy called her owl, Kes down from his perch. "Come on, Kes, shake a leg!"
When he alighted on her arm, she attached the letter to his leg."Nw, I need you to take that to mum as soon as possible - and bring me a reply! Now go on, off you go! Scram!" Daft bird...

Vanessa listened to Professor Carlton and was excited to get these sent to everybody. She called for two owls who took a stand right in front of her. She attached the invitations on the first owl and then the rest of the invitations on the next one. Once she was done she told them to go off and give the invites to the people who were addressed on the letter. She felt...accomplished.
Antonia heard that they were going to start sending out the invitations, and that she should call her owl, make that owls, as the professor had mentioned they would need at least two for the job. "Beaky, come here, and bring your girlfriend with you!", Antonia shouted, and moments later her small eagle owl and an even smaller screech owl flew towards her. She tied one invitation on each of the two owls' legs, four in total, and watched as they flew away. Ah, that had been easy!
Lysandra took the invitations the Professor handed to the Slyterins and called down her owl. Pandora! I've got a job for you, come here. And bring a friend. A snowy owl, along with a big barn owl came from their roosts and landed in front of her. How are you doing girl? she asked the owl, then handed her a treat. Pandora hooted in reply and put her leg out. She knew that she was about to go out. Lysandra tied one invitation to her left leg and said Take this to the assigned address, ok? Again she hooted in reply. She tied another to her right leg and said And this one too. She then tied the remaining two invitations to the big barn owl and watched them fly off.

Brant ran in. totally out of breath. "Sorry Professor, Im here now did we start yet" but even before she could answer Brant noticed Antonia already sending some out. "Oh..." he said while still trying to catch his breath.

Hearing the sound of footsteps drawing closer and closer, Lexi turned to see Brant DeVaice hurrying into the Owlery. "Oh, Mr. DeVaice, you're just in time really. We just started sending out the Slytherin invitations," she said. She passed him a few invitations. "You can go ahead and call for an owl and send a few of these out."
Lexi called for Apollo, her own owl, and attached two of the invitations to his leg. She pet her little owl on the head then watched him fly far away, the invitations still dangling from his leg.
Smiling at Lysandra, Lexi said, "Oh, I'm just fine. Thanks." She shuffled through the pretty large stack of invitations in her hand as she waited around for more committee members to show up. Oh, okay, so they weren't late after all. Well, she would have had a good excuse anyhow...getting lost on the way up here and having to ask a first year for the way was a good excuse right? Embarrassing, yes, but good too. Sort of. Err...whatever. Not that she had to mention any of it now. Which was...a relief really. It would have sounded a little strange if a Seventh Year Prefect had to ask her way around the castle...but then again she was Queen of Confusion so what to expect? Aiden would have understood...
Nancy was brought back to the now when Professor Carlton started handing out the Slytherin invitations which she took with a "Thanks" and a grin...which faltered as soon as she actually LOOKED at the invitation. It had a snake on it. And not one like the one on their crest but like a real-life-looking one. EEK! Her complextion was even paler than usual as she gulped and slowly took the invitations with two fingers so as to not touch the part where the snake was on. Why did they have to put a snake up there?!
Trying hard NOT to look down at the invitation the Prefect walked over to where a few owls were sitting. "Err...I'd need some of you." How did you call owls? She didn't have one herself and she hardly ever wrote letters so she was a little lost there. "Pleease?" She added and looked pleadingly at a brownish-colored owl. Which simply resumed to sit up there out of her reach and blinked down at her. Yes, great, just great.

Once Brant got his invatations Brant quickly picked out an Owl. Petting is softly, he told the bird where they needed to go. attaching the invites to the owl's leg Brant gave him a little treat and then told him it was okay to go.
Bonnie so hated herself right now! She felt awful. Just awful. She chewed her lip and tried to slip into the room quietly, not wanting people to look up and stare at her. 'Cause that's what people do when some is late... Grunt. Blushing, she walked up to her favourite Professor Carlton and said shyly, "Sorry I'm late." She took a few invitations, not looking up and crept over to her sister. "Have you been here long?" she whispered, tying an invite to a small owl's leg. How it was supposed to fly with it she had no idea!
Melanie stomped up the staircase leading to the owlery, careful to dodge droppings on the way up. Ewww.
Once the girl reached the top of the stairs, breathing harder then usual, but not exactly out of breath, she turned around to talk to her friend. "I can write a quick letter here." Melanie decided, tying her hair into a ponytail while she waited for Cadence to respond.
Cadence reached the top of the stairs looking as though she had merely taken a relaxing stroll as opposed to climbing the nine flights of stairs they had just ventured up. When Melanie said she'd just write the letter here, Cadence smiled and pulled parchment, ink, and quill out of her bag, handing them to her. "Okay! Here you go!" she said. After a few moments she began wandering around as Lanie wrote, looking for Arya. "I hope they say yes! It's going to be so much fun!" she said, feeling excited about the prospect of all of her friends camping out in her backyard. Spotting Arya, Cadence whistled up to her, and the owl fluttered down and landed on her shoulder, nipping her ear affectionately. Walking back toward her bag, Cadence pulled out an owl treat, and fed it to Arya as she stroked the owl.

"Me too." Melanie agreed, taking the parchment, quill, and ink (awww, she forgot to bring her color changing ink...) from Cadence. Then, she put the paper up against the wall so she'd have a hard surface to write on. The girl contemplated the situation, staring at the blank piece of parchment for a moment. Then, she began to write.
SPOILER!!: letter
Dear Dad,
I miss you. How have you been lately? I hope you’ve been feeling GREAT. I mean, really, really GREAT. After all, I am your daughter and would only wish for you the greatest happiness.
I can think of something that would make me really happy. My friend Cadence (I'm pretty sure I’ve told you about her) is having a camp out this summer at her house. I was invited and I really want to go.
I've given it some thought. If I stay with one of mom’s sisters and we won’t have to buy an extra plane ticket.
Please consider it. And don’t forget to write back!
Love,
Melanie
P.S.- If Bugle starts nipping at your finger or something, he probably wants food. I've found he's rather partial to Goldfish crackers.
Finished, she held the parchment up to her eye level, reading over the words. Right on time, her owl hopped from it's perch and began to flutter around her head, twittering like it had had too much sugar or something. After a minute of this, the little thing settled down to perch on a window ledge a few inches from where she was standing, holding its leg out in a helpful sort of manner. Melanie seized the moment of cooperation, folding the letter neatly and tying the tying it to Bugle's outstretched leg. "Take it to Dad, okay?" The owl hooted. Melanie took that as a yes. And apparently it was, because, at that very moment, Bugle flew eagerly out the window.
She watched her fly until she was out of sight, hoping she wouldn't hit any bad weather on the way home.
With that done and over with, Melanie turned around to look at Cadence. Her eyes lit up at the sight of the owl perching on her shoulder. "Oh! Can I give her a treat?" she asked Cadence eagerly, grinning from ear to ear.
