Esme woke up, having actually fallen asleep in the chair, as one of her shoes fell off and clattered against the floor.

She sat up, twisting around so that she was sat in the chair properly, rather than having her legs over the arm of it. She blinked and looked around. "Oh heck. I'm still here."

She frowned and pulled out her wand, summoning her shoe. She caught it and ran her hands through her hair, looking around at her fellow Hufflepuffs, still decidedly underwhelmed.

Cedric gleefully strode into their rather crowded common room. Upon entering, a girl who was probably writing near the fireplace immediately caught his attention. And there were also many other people around, of course. Some were busily and obligingly studying their lessons while there were some who were chatting boisterously amongst themselves.

He relished for this set of scene. It was just poignant 'cause he was always stuck in this kind of scene every time he idle 'round their common room. He gradually walked toward the girl, trying not to emit a single sound so as not to startle the lone girl who seemingly enjoying her momentary solitude.

"Hello there," He started, smiling at her gently. "Would you mind if I join you here?" And then he spotted a creature, he lowered his body and carefully lingered his benign fingers on its furry body, a bit transfixed and fascinated at the sight of the creature.

Katie continued to stare at the picture for a moment longer. In the corner and up the side, in large, messy red crayon writing, her little brother had gotten someone to help him write 'I love you Kattie' by laying down dots for him to fill in; the second T in her name added on purpose.

Thud! The young girl looked up and over toward the noise, noticing a high heel that had fallen off another girl's foot; she looked rather dazed, and by what she said Katie had a feeling the girl had probably dozed off in the chair. They were comfy, those chairs. "You are. But look at it on the bright side, at least you're in the safety of the Common Room and it wasn't the Library. Less chances of being the target of a prank that way," Katie commented quietly, turning dark eyes back on the picture as she decided whether or not to fold it or simply wait until she was ready to go up to the girls' dorm.
This time a voice brought her attention back to earth, and to him. Immediately, she knew that while it was definitely a boy, it was not one she was familiar with. That ruled out a total of one Hufflepuff, who she hadn't seen since they arrived. Even though it was Cy, that was not a relief. But also not what she was going to focus on at the present time. "Hello," Katie greeted, smiling a small smile in return. She nodded, her ponytail of dark curls bobbing and bouncing with the motion. "Nope, you can sit. I'm Kaitlynnh, by the way. Kaitlynnh Mae, but it's rare anyone uses my full name, so Katie for short."

"And that's Nova," She added, introducing him to the rabbit as he took notice of her, gentle fingers running over Nova's white and tan spotted furr. She smiled a little more, somewhat surprised with how nice the boy was being. Katie was too use to the troublesome boys she constantly found herself bickering with.

Esme gave the girl a sarcastic smile. "I had hoped to be somewhere else. Somewhere that has no relation to warty hogs at all." Esme stretched and her other shoe fell off. Grumbling about over priced English fashions and shoddy workmanship, she summoned that one too, holstered her wand and put her shoes back on.

"Besides, I'm not the victim type. Anyone who pranked me would come to regret it." She said this in a rather bored voice and then listened as a boy, around her own age she thought, asked if he could sit with the other girl. Wondering if she was invisible, she pulled her bag from under the chair and pulled her book out of it. The book was a leather bound, and the title proclaimed that it was Some Thoughts Concerning Education by John Locke. Every now and then, she would make a note in her fabric covered parchment notebook.

Cedric momentarily fixed his gaze upon the girl and then the fire caught his attention. Its blaze somewhat creates pictures in his mind. It gave him a distinctive touch of ardor and it was sort of... addicting. He abruptly turned to the girl who he had seen around and now he was back from a brief reverie.

He listened attentively as the girl spoke to him as he took a seat. "You have a nice name. And fine, nice to meet you Katie." He said, smiling once again. And he hoped he hadn't really disturbed or even bothered her. "Nice pet Katie. Her name sounds like a comet or a heavenly bodies' name." He ventured his fingers at Nova's soft, furry body again. Caressing the creature's wiggly tail, he felt a sudden moisture in his hand. "Oops! I think it um, peed or he's just sweating." He chuckled a bit, he was loving the creature now. He mostly loathes almost every creature--specifically, insects, cats and such--but not this one with the girl named Katie.

"Well, that's kinda true," Melissa shrugged. "Good, that's glad to hear," she smiled at Arya. She was glad though when she changed the topic, and she smiled in gratitude. "Er, fun? Hmm, study, I like sports too," she said, Quidditch too but she left that out knowing now that Arya didn't like it.

Amy jogged through the common room and fell into the chair, laughing as she waited for Lissa to come in

Lissa burst into the common room and fell on a couch and started laughing when she heard Amy do it. "I didn't know this kind of fun used this much energy!" she exclaimed.

Oh yeah, it always does, Amy said, panting mid giggle, and see no one caught us, everyone is safe from proffessors and detention, she smiled at Lissa as she fell back in her armchair

Lissa laughed and sat down the correct way on the armchair. "Good, great. Then Sarah can't be mad at me. Wait where is Simon?" she asked Amy, "he should be here, or did he go somewhere?"

Oh Merlin, your right! Where is he, Amy jogged out to the kitchen corridor, SIMONN! she called, SIMONN!, she ran back in, he's not there, I'll go back and look for him she called back as she ran back to the fifth floor

Lissa gaped, where was Simon! "Alright," she managed to speak out and watched Amy leave the common room. Oh no oh no oh no!

"Sports are fun, we played soccer in Muggle Studies last term." Looking to the fire, she stiffled another yawn. Maybe now was a good time for some sleep, she would need it if she was gonna find her friends tomorrow. "Well, I'm sleepy. It was good talking to you Melissa, I'll see you around." Smling at the girl, she craddled Perseus and walked of to the dorm room.

Katie raised her eyebrows at the girl's response. Apparently, she hadn't come to Hogwarts on her own free will. Or maybe she had, and was disappointed in what she found? Eitherway, she was clearly not a happy Hogwartian. "Sorry to burst your bubble, then. You know, I didn't care for it here when I started school either. But after three years, I'm beginning to figure out it's not so bad after all. It grows on you, and so do the people. If you give them a chance." Never in her oh so short life did Katie ever think she of all people would be advising anybody else about that; apparently, there really was a time for everything, and the words came out before she could think about stopping them. Not that she would have, anyway.

"Well atleast they'll learn if they tried to prank you, right? Maybe make them think twice next time." MAYBE. Because in all honesty, Katie still doubted it would stop a prankster from playing his or her game. She knew from experience with Legend, Mat and Cy. She liked the girl's attitude toward being a victim though, Katie couldn't see her ever playing the role of damsil in destress. "Did you transfer from another school?" the brunette decided to ask, knowing the stakes were high she could be very wrong since she was hardly in the Common Room or around her own housemates, but this girl.. she hadn't seen at all before.

She had a nice name? Katie blinked. It was rather common in some places, but she liked it enough, too. How she spelt her name set it apart from others. "Thanks.. what's your name?" She was not intending to be blunt or sound ridiculous for not knowing her own housemates, but that was the truth - she hardly knew any of them, and he hadn't said his name yet. "I've seen you before. But never did catch your name," Katie admitted.

His remark about her rabbit's name surprised her just a little bit, and for a moment it shown on her face. Since when were boys this age thoughtful? Assuming he was around her own age, that is. "Closer to a comet, yes. I heard it before, through Astronomy and stuff; it sounded cool." Nova shifted, rising to her feet and peered up at the boy, one of her lop-ears twitched.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Nova hopped further away from the fireplace, hiding in the shadows of her owner and the boy where the heat couldn't hit her directly. The small rabbit sniffed around, eyeing the boy warily every now and then. "Rabbit's don't have sweat glands." Katie informed him, trying hard not to look amused. She failed, a small giggle escaped her lips as she turned to pull her backpack closer and rummaged inside until she found a tissue; locating her wand was much easier. Clearing her throat, the young girl pointed her wand at the tissue in her other hand and said evenly, "Aguamenti." so a little trickle of water would drip out of the tip of her wand, wetting the tissue just enough. Katie offered it to the Hufflepuff boy with a smile, stating the obvious, "You might want to wipe your hand now. Sorry about that."

"Really? I didn't know you play sports in that but then again it IS Muggle Studies," Melissa spoke. "Okay then, it was nice talking to you to Arya. Have a good sleep," she spoke to Arya, smiling at her and watching her cradle Perseus and walking up the stairs to the dorms.

Simon walked into the common room, he had had a busy day and so wanted a rest, he went and sat down in a chair and waited for Amy to join him, they had been so lucky not to get a detention or so Simon thought, he wondered what Amy thought about it all, well he would have to wait for her to come into the common room.

Amy walked through and flopped down on the sofa, she let out a great puff of breath as she sat up, well that wasn't as bad as it could of been was it, she couldn't help it, she giggled loudly, she was so convinced she'd be in detention by now, not in the common room with Simon, did not see that coming she said, happily, deciding she would visit the proffessor tomorow to say thanks

Simon looked at Amy. "I thought that we would be in detention by now." he said as he took out his book. "I can't believe he let us off so lightly." He looked at Amy, he was hoping she wouldn't be mad at him for leaving her, well at least he came back and so she should know that he would stand by her.

Amy put her head back and ran her fingers through her thick hair, you know you really shouldn't of come back I would of been fine she smiled at him and stared at his warmly, she didn't know what was up with her she always felt different around Simon, weird I really want to dance right now amy said randomly I dunno why i just do she smiled at him, sorry about earlier

Simon looked away from Amy, for some reason he couldn't look at her without smiling, it was the same when he talked to Maddie and he didn't know what the feeling was, he had never had that feeling before. "I couldn't let you take all the blaim could I." Simon said looking around the common room. "I wonder when the first class will be."

I Dunno I'm used to it um it says so in the noticboard, divination, tomorow she smiled as she had a look at the board and came back to sit down, she yawned widley and pulled out her book, deciding to finish her chapter, she was tired but she didn't feel that way around Simon she felt happy and bubbly and a little nervous like she'd muck up it was odd, she'd never felt that way around jay she didn't really have a feeling aroud jay, in that moment she realised she hadn't ever really really liked jay ooh she murmered to herself, everything becoming clear

Simon smiled at he looked at Amy. "That is good." He said as he felt into his bag and realised he had a letter from his dad that he had sent in response to what him and his cousin had sent. "I had so forgot about this." He sighed. "I need to find my cousin soon so we can read it together."

. Is your cousin in hufflepuff? amy asked him wondering whether she should go to bed soon she closed the book as she finished the chapter as she put the book away an owl hooted she turned around charletta! She took the reply and watched charletta fly off she opened it an read it quickly then stuffed it in her bag with a glare at it

"No she was sorted into Slytherin." Simon sighed. "And I haven't seen her since the start of term feast." He sighed. "I'll have to look for her later so we can read the letter together." He looked at the letter and read it, he made sure it didn't say anything about him being a Prince, which it didn't so that was a good thing. "What do we do now?"

. We? Amy asked what do you mean Simon? She asked mischeviously then feeling like a total idiot, she reached into her bag and pulled out the box of brownies she had got from the kitchen, want one? She asked offering him the box
