"Right, professor."

Gold took down a few notes, and then looked up to see that Professor Dodson had set a Fluffletuff in front of her. Right. Now for a lie. Lie. Gold couldn't do that to save a life, or so she frequently told Raven. Now though, she thought this would be pretty easy.

"I have enough high heels!" She lied cheerfully. She had a HUGE amount of high heels, more pairs than she could count, and she kept ordering new ones all the time. But Gold obviously didn't think they were enough. The more, the merrier, that was what she believed in, as far as the pretty shoes were concerned. Especially if they were sparkly. Though, come to think of it, she did have an awful quantity of high heels.

Too many of them, in fact.

But definitely not enough, right?

Err.

Sage leant against the nearest desk and folded his arms across his chest as he took to observing. Observing Gold and her adventure with the Fluffletuff Bloom. After her statement about having enough high heels, the flower quivered and hummed.. the flowers turned a gray colour and just a small dribble of the liquid oozed out. Quite pathetically too.

Huh.

"I don't think the flower can conclude whether that's a lie or not," Sage said, head tilted to one side. "I think you DO have enough high heels."

Alex sniggered at the Professor's statement amused. Now that was just funny the Professor saying that. True, but funny she thought. Alex wrote down the plants reaction, must react if half truths as well. The girl thinks she doesn't have enough and the plant thinks she does.

"Hmm...interesting" Zane said. He took notes on the half truths and raised his hand. "So it picks up on smell, so if a person knows they were telling a lie, but had on perfume or cologne could that have an effect on the flowers reaction also?"

Simon wrote everything down, he thought that the Professor statement amusing, he was enjoying this lesson.

Ellie nodded at Dodson's answer. Okay.. next.. next... She had to keep talking. There must be something she could continue talking about... Something she could ask..

Gold watched with interest, as the flower changed colour and... eh? This wasn't what she had expected. She had been ready to step back, in case the flower squirted something in her eye. Not for this. It looked like the Fluffletuff wasn't in the mood to react!

"Oh, but that's really interesting," Gold said. "Does that mean that if I'm not sure if what I say is true or not, the flower won't be either?" Sooo she couldn't use it to test out... stuff? Like, whether she hated Dylan or not? Or did that depend on her state of mind, when she asked the question? Gold was really tempted to take notes. But then Professor Dodson had spoken again, and her lips turned up into a pretty smile.

"I don't think one can ever have enough high heels," she said simply, dimple in one cheek. "But I do have lots." Like... LOTS. Maybe too many. Could they be too many? "Can I try again, professor? This time, I'll claim I'm a five-legged, pink banana, or something."

That should satisfy the Fluffletuff.

Freeman kept his head down, focusing intently on scribbling notes and trying not to look at anyone else. His ears had turned rather pink but he wouldn't admit it in a million years. It was just an unpleasant interaction, he told himself. You have those every day.

Determined not to let anyone cow him into silence, Freeman raised his hand yet again. "Just to clarify," he said, looking only at Professor Dodson's chin, "The flower reacts based on the person's own physiological response to whatever they are saying. So if the person believes they are telling the truth, it won't react, even if someone else knows otherwise. And the flower didn't explode for Gold, not because it is judging she has plenty of shoes, but because she herself doubts what she said. In other words, the flower isn't all-knowing. It's just measuring your electro-dermal activity. Is that correct?"

He put his hand back in his lap. Let them mock him. He was still going to get top grades in this class.

"Perfume or cologne wouldn't effect the flower and it's response," Sage said with a small shake of his head. "It only picks up on natural scent."

Sage couldn't really comment on the heels talk.. it wasn't like he wore them. How on Earth could one do the gardening in high heeled shoes? Not sensible in the slightest. "Precisely," he nodded, "the flower is working according to your emotions, so if you're not sure of what you say... the flower will get confused."


It was Mister Smartypants again.

Sage mentally scolded himself, he wasn't meant to think of the students like that! "Your clarification is correct," he nodded, a little surprised by the boy's observations. He'd seemed so disinterested.. even admitted that he didn't like Herbology, yet he'd clearly been thinking things through. "Did everyone catch that?"

Alex had a smart but response to the boy's explaination, really she did. "Yes Professor." She muttered annoyed, when was the actual lesson going to begin? and why did that guy act like they were idiots? They had understood the first time.

"Ahh.." Zane said, nodding in understanding, writing down the questions and answers on his parchment. He was surprised that the Ravenclaw had been paying attention. Zane wracked his brain, but couldn't think of another question, so he waited on class to move on.

Meh, that guy was a Ravenclaw wasn't he. Yea, Evelyn could tell. Wasn't that hard though.

Watching the plant spew out, disgusting stuff, the Slytherin was rather glad she was more towards the back of the room and didn't decide to sit in the front. Twirling the quill in her hand, Evelyn looked back down to the blood petals on her table that she still hadn't used yet. Hmmm...

Nah, she couldn't think of any pranks to use with them. Darn.

Pshh. No!

"What's 'electro-dewhatever activity', exactly?" Ellie asked giving a look at the boy.. He was ODD. Beyond odd, really. But, the rest she could follow. Just the 'electro-whatever activity' part freaked her out a bit.

Nymphy felt like saying "bless you" to the boy who used the language he couldn't even properly spell, but instead decided to show him up.

"I do beleive that mister freeman (o how he wanted to say Freakman.....) is mistaken. In order to take an electrodermal activity sensor, the plant would have to physically touch the skin, which as we saw, it does not. But I do belive that this is magic and does therefore NOT need a scientific explanation. However, what he said about the person beleiving it to be true is quite right...." he said, smirking at the boy. But why did it all matter....it didn't.

"Besides all this jibber-jabber is just to show off. Lets try and learn what our excellent teacher has to teach us.....and not butt in with scientific prattle." he finished, now looking over to the teacher. "Please....continue" he said, smiling.

Dianna opened up her small bag and got out a small face towel to wipe the ink splattered all over her. While doing so she listened to the-Ravenclaw?-boy who looked really really snobbish while answering.
"Quite smart for someone who looks.." she said to herself. She couldn't even finish the sentence in her annoyance.

Selena now realized why she was not placed in Ravenclaw. "Smart Ravvies..." Selena muttered to herself. She was grateful she was put into Slytherin. It seemed loads better than being in Ravenclaw... always so smart and all. But still... Ravvies were so smart. Selena was a tiny bit jealous of their smarts, just a tiny bit of course...

Freeman tried not to roll his eyes at the older boy's obvious brown-nosery. "Excuse me," he said. "But it was the Professor who first said it was 'electro-dermal', and he would know. And isn't the entire point of this lesson that magical plants have scientific application?"

He hated when people smirked at him. Even though maybe every once in awhile, he had smirked first.

Older-Boy probably had issues with Ravenclaw, Freeman decided.

Nymphy seemed like a good kid.. but he was being just a tad inappropriate now, Sage decided with a sigh. "I know you're trying to help Mister Smith," he said in all serious, "but let's play nice, okay?" He wasn't very good at the whole being a stern Professor thing, but he tried. "I'll have to take a point from Hufflepuff for rudeness."

With another breath and a rub of his neck, Sage turned to Ellie. "When one is put under stress and grows anxious, there is activity in our sweat glands," he explained, "electrodermal activity is when this is picked up by tiny electrical properties in our skin. Mix that with the magical properties of the Fluffletuff Bloom and you have a natural lie detector."

He was starting to feel a little stressed with some of these kids.. the electrical properties in his skin must've been going crazy.

Celandine scribbled down the answers to ickle Freeman's' clarification question, and smiled to herself. Gold's shoe statement had been interesting and had illustrated some of Cela's own thoughts on the matter. She wondered if the plant quantified 'enough' as one shoe for each foot?

Alex had half a mind to hit herself, What was the difference between it all honestly! Alex sighed she was suddenly very bored and she really wanted to start class and not have a disagreement about something being one word or it not being one word.

Zane leaned over to Alex, "What are the odds I can beat him in a duel? Or shoot off a quick hex before someone notices? I'd really like to Confund him, but I can't do that one yet.". He mentally made a note to learn that spell as soon as he could.

Okay...

Ugh, "So... I don't think electro-diggly has anything to do with it. I think it's magic. If it was so 'scientifical' then the muggle's would have found out or made something like this already, right?" Whatever happened to good, old fashioned magic?

You're welcome (sarcasm).........what a way to repay respect and one fighting to defend another's honor. But that was fine, Nymphy would no longer put up any fuss to the Ravenclaws rudess. He felt like telling the other kid to do his best on the Professor......but didn't. Wow.......ya, thats right......HE's the bad guy, as if.

"I'm terribly sorry, Professor. It won't (you got that right) happen again...." he said, somewhat agast at what the professor had done to HIM (the man who had defended the Professor)!

"You," Sage pointed, noticing a bored looking Slytherin. He tried not to let it hurt him.. "Do you know any hexes?" As he asked, he retrieved a potted herb from the side of the room.

Selena smirked when she heard the professor address Alex. "Of course she would, she's tried to hex me before," Selena muttered lowly. She had also changed her hair colour. Note to Self... get revenge on Alex for that.
