Tori looked up as her professor spoke. Taking out her wooden spoon she carefully used it to add the flobberworm mucus not even touching the container. She stirred it into the simmering pumpkin juice. She scribbled down the next step while carefully stirring. SPOILER!!: Tori's Notebook |
Eek I'm falling behind Jacob added the Pumpkin Juice, then ignited the fire. And brought it down to a low simmer. Jacob listened to the professor's next directions. Why couldn't the the professors just tell us to use the spoon. Why must they tell us not to use our hands, it was so tempting to do so when they said not to. Jacob took the wooden spoon and added the mucus into the cauldron, then stirred with his right hand as he wrote down the notes with his left... Yay, he didnt touch the mucus! SPOILER!!: Destiny Marie had barely finished writing the ingredients in her journal when she was being dragged off to the supply closet by Destiny. Darn that blasted rope. "Gee Destiny, you could at least warn me when you're going to get up and move like that." Luckily she had grabbed her journal so she would know what ingredients she needed to get. There were a lot of ingredients they needed so she was just going to use her journal as a tray to carry most of them. The rest she would carry in her other hand. The journal would be in her left hand since that was the arm that did NOT have the rope tied to it. She did NOT want Destiny pulling on her arm and making her drop everything. As they got near their table Marie decided she didn't want to sit with Destiny anymore. They may be bound together but that didn't mean they had to work together. There was plenty of rope between them for her to sit at the next table. She placed her ingredients on Carter's table as they passed. She then went back over to the table she had been sitting at (which was next to him) and gathered the rest of her things. She quickly and quietly got her work station set back up so she could get this pottion brewing. She wanted her hair back NOW. She did not like being bald Marie. Once she had all the ingredients lined up in front of her she looked over her cauldron to make sure it was clean. She did not want anything to go wrong with this potion so she cleaned the already clean cauldron again. Once she did that she poured the gallon of pumpkin juice in it. "Incendio" she said as she pointed her wand under the cauldron. She adjusted the height of the fire so the pumpkin juice would not boil but instead come to a simmer. She then grabbed her quill and updated her journal while she waited for further instructions. Quote:

Mina checked on her cauldron and found it was at a light simmer. It was time to add the mucus. Reaching for her wooden spoon, she gave it a quick look. It was clean and she was ready to use it to add the mucus. Taking great care as to not touch it with her hands or any part of her, she added it to the cauldron. Making sure she had it all in, she started to stir it in with her left hand. Her right hand reached for her journal and quill. Writing everything down in her journal, she then turned her attention back to the stirring. She was going to get her hair back, if it was the last thing she did! Victoria brought the pumpkin juice to a simmer, just like Professor Lafay said, before adding the goo to it without touching her hand. This time, she was less nervous unlike last time...of course, Lafay was yelling last time and she seemed a bit nicer than before. Other than the fact that she made them lose their hair. |
Alexandrie sighed cleaning out her Cauldron before pouring the pumpkin juice into it setting the fire to a low shimmer. afterwards she took out her wooden spoon and used it to stir in the goowey mucus, which she didn't think was on the list of ingredients at all. In fact she noticed from her notes the name of any mucus was infact Flobberworm. She sighed this Professor really liked trying to confuse people. |

Professor Lafay sounded COLD. But that, Gold reflected, could be expected, after what had happened in the professor's last lesson. Of course, a number of students had been angered, mostly righteously, but Professor Lafay had suffered no less. Or so, at any rate, was Gold's opinion of the matter. Somehow managing not to roll her eyes at the smirk on Professor Lafay's voice, and in the woman's tones, Gold picked up a wooden spoon, and used it to ladle the flobberworm mucus into the juice. Which she then proceeded to stir, ensuring she did not touch it with her hands. Somewhat because of Professor Lafay's words, but mostly because she didn't want to get sticky, gooey stuff on her pretty and clean hands. Because cleanliness is GOOD. Generally. |
Alcemee stirred the mucus into the juice, being careful not to touch it with her hands. The whole time she was adding it, she was very nervous; she didn't want to ruin the potion. When she had finished, she sighed in relief and waited again for the next step. |
Willow looked at the goowey mucus for a moment and thought it looked rather disgusting. She took out her wooden spoon and poured in the goowey mucus and started stirring. She was careful in pouring it out with the spoon not wanting to know the effects of the mucus on her hands. |

But, it had to go into the potion. Waiting for her potion to actually make it to the low simmer, when it finally did, she slowly used the wooden spoon to put the mucus into the pumpkin juice before stirring it. Okay, gross part down. Well at least from the list, that was the one that seemed the most gross. And hopefully, she was right. Using her other hand to stir, Evelyn picked her quill back up again and quickly jotted down the next steps in her notebook, making sure she didn't over stir the mixture at the same time. SPOILER!!: Evelyn's notebook |

Awww, man. No opportunity this time, either. Oh well, the teacher will talk again. And an opportunity's bound to come up at some point in this lesson... Ellie quietly took her wooden spoon. She evanesco'd anything that may be on that also. She was taking no chances. And she scooped the mucus with it, and stirred all that ickyness into the yumminess of the pumpkin juice. Some potion. |

SPOILER!!: pets the good babies This was going quite well... she should shave them at every class... Though... something was missing... "Step three. Drops of Lavender. And what do you have to do when dropping lavender in a hot cauldron?" She asked. |
catching up =) Quote:
After 5 to 6 minutes, the juice was boiling softly. She stopped looking at the beverage to listen at the Professor's instructions. Quote:
She almost drop it on the table..."eeww I really don't like my no-hair head, but I wont drink this...arggggggh..."mucus"..no no, no way! She said in a low voice, hoping that anybody had heard to her... While dropping the mucus in the cauldron she whispered "but my hair....my beautiful LONG hair!! and I look like an alien... haha AN ALIEN!" Kate started to laugh alone, and she couldn't stop...just thinking about the baldness was soooooooo funny haha now..the lavender! While adding the drops Kate raised her hand and answered Professor Lafay's question "We have to take care NOT to smell the potion because if we do we will smell lavender for 2 days" |
Putting the wooden spoon back down, Evelyn looked up as the Professor passed their table, listening to the question about the lavender. "Hold your breath?" she asked more than said after raising her hand, unsure if that was the right thing to do. But, it was...right? They did that last lesson... In fact, didn't Destiny get into trouble with something having to do with the lavender? Meh, didn't matter now did it. |
Hehe. Found it. "Well professor. I would hold my breath, because lavender is very strong. Especially when it's heated. Then I would take a dropper of some sort and fill it with lavender by squeezing the little squeezable part and once it was inside the lavender, I'd release the squeezy thing. But still hold onto the dropper. Then I would hold it over the cauldron and squeeze that part again, but only a little, so it doesn't all come out, and make sure only one drop drips at a time. And in this case, I'd repeat that 7 more times, eight total." That seemed thorough enough, yes? "What do you have to do?" Who knows? Maybe she was different. Being mean and all could make people quite different. |
Victoria didn't really know what to do with lavender since she left right when it got to this point of the potion last time. So, she decided to listen in. |
Trixie added the lavender to the potion and followed everyones instructions to not breath it in at all by turning around and facing the other side where no cauldrons stood. She didn't know the answer to the question obviously seeing as had lost a lot of her memory, lessons were pretty hard. |

She picked up the lavender and turned away and inhaled clean air and held it. She carefully dropped eight drops into the hot cauldron. SPOILER!!: Tori's Notebook |

Setting her spoon aside, Mina reached for the lavender essence. With her free hand, she went to raise it only to stop. All her other classmates had answered already and she wasn't about to sound redundant. Taking a deep breath, she loaded the dropper and turned to the cauldron with her her breath held. Finally with her head and hand at a safe distance, she slowly added the lavender. Drip One Drip Two Drip Three Drip Four Drip Five Drip Six Drip Seven Drip Eight Setting the dropper down, she turned her head and exhale. That wasn't all that bad, she thought as she pulled her journal over and started to write in her journal again. SPOILER!!: Potions Journal of Jasmina Simone Bennett: Third Year, Ravenclaw 2071-2072 |
I'm always playing catch up in your class. Sidney is so slow sometimes Sidney goes through her notes from the last class. "Professor, you said we should hold our breath while using the lavender oil, or we will smell nothing but lavender for two days. Does the same rule apply for lavender essence? We also had to put on our dragonhide gloves before adding the lavender oil. Should we do the same with this ingredient?" Professor Lefay is being entirely too nice today. Someone needs to irritate her a litte. Sidney smiles. Back to potion making Quote:
Sidney takes her cauldron to the sink and washes it out good, then dries it. She takes it back to her work station and places it on the stand. Sidney builds a fire under her cauldron. She does not set it yet. Next Sidney pours the galleon of pumkin juice in. "Incendio Medium Estus!" Her fire starts at a medium rate perfect for simmering pumkin juice. While the juice heats up, Sidney finds her wooden spoon in her Potions Kit. She places it to one side and takes out her scales. I'm going to need 4 onces of flobberworm muccus. Let's see, I will need to use a bowl that's wide enough that I can remove the mucus with my wooden spoon. I'll have to measure the bowl first, so I can add its weight to the four ounces. I think that sound right. Mom does it that way all the time in her lab, so it must be the right way to do it. Sidney goes over to the work table and gets a clear bowl. She places it on her scale, measure it, and rights the information down. Sidney puts on her dragonhide gloves since Professor Lefay said flobberworm mucus does awful things when it comes in contact with skin. I don't want to have to parade around Hogwarts to the Hospital wing with no hair no way! Sidney removes the mucus and places it in the bowl. Four ounces exactly! Now I put it into the pumpkin juice using my wooden spoon. What to do next? Sidney checks her notes. She stirs the flobberworm mucus in. Then Sidney holds her breath and adds the lavender essence one drop at a time. Sidney stares down at the potion in the making to see what kind of reaction the flobberworm, pumpking juice, and lavender essence will have on each other. |
Alexandrie raised her hand to answer, "I would hold my breath and drop one at a time leaning back as anything tends to Splash when hitting liquid. You also may want to wear protective gloves to do this part?" Alex said remembering the last class with Lavender as well. She held her breath leaning away from the Cauldron adding the drops slowly and carefully. |

"Step four." she said "This needs to be times perfectly, so watch me before you do it. You will add the Gotu Kola and set the stirrer to magically stir 9 times clockwise, once counter, but before you do, you will place one of the Mandrake leaves in the mortar and crush it with the pestle in the same motion and at the same time of the 9 stirring, pouring the herb in with the 10th counter stir." She put a leaf in her mortar, poured the Gotu Kola and charmed the stirrer in cauldron. As the stirrer began turning, Hecate matched the turns and speed of the stirred while crushing the leaf. When the stirrer turned the other way, she added the contents of her mortar and started with another leaf. She repeated the motion the five times she needed to add her five Mandrake leaves. "There. Do you all understand?" |
