Ivory raised her timidly. She wasn't excatly sure but if she remembered correctly...

"Don't all types of tea, white, green, oolong, and black, come from the same one plant Camellia sinensis that Gold metioned? And I know my mother always said that old tea leaves make great fertilizer."

Tea?? She didn't really know what to say about that topic, it was a strange one. Smiling a little
"There's loads of differnt types of tea Professor, and umm there are loads of way's of making it" She said, quitely putting her hand in the air.

"Tea...usually calms someone down." she muttered after tripping over her own feet. Yes, that was the first thing that popped into her mind. Frowning at the words of losing house points, she sighed, wondering if that meant...Slytherin would be losing points. They couldn't afford that.

Oh well. The simple no at Destiny's request for a hug was good enough. Smirking, her job now done, Evelyn walked back to her seat with a lighter step than when she came in. Now to just figure out why they are talking about tea. It sounded like something Professor Pickle would do...

Annie tried to think creatively for an answer that woudl impress her herbology teacher. She raised her hand slowly. "Tea can be used to read the future by reading the left over tealeaves in the cups. The symbols made are soemtimes beleived to mean something." Hmmmmmmm, She thought to herself, Well that answer was... vague.

Kita didn't know what to say. Her mother drank tea and she knew, from Muggle primary school, that tea contains something called caffeine in it. Apart from that she didn't know a thing. Sometimes she really hated being Muggleborn and not knowing wizard things. She looked around the class as people said their thoughts. She couldn't believe how much she didn't know sometimes. She still raised her hand and said, "It's made from a plant, tea leaves. By adding milk to it, tea becomes less strong. So, the more milk you add, the weaker the tea becomes. Strong tea isn't god for your health."

Immediately, Jake raised his hand. He knew this one; KNEW IT! Oh man, epic. Pure epic. He'd wow everyone with his amazing knowledge. CHYEAH!

"It tuhh-tuh-tastes revolting."

Dani raised her hand. "Tea is that stuff that old people drink." She said, completely serious. She hadn't ever seen anyone except her grandparents drink tea. WHat that had to do with Herbology she had no idea..

No hug from the Bunz? Well that just made Destiny all gloomy now. Fine. She would just have to try again next class.

She moped over to the seat next to Evelyn. No way was she going to lose this.

Annnnd now they were talking about tea. Okay. Destiny didn't know anything about tea, except that her grandmom drinks it. It was the only way for her to take her medicine. After she would drink the tea, she got all crazy, more crazy than she already is.

Maybe it was from the medication..not the tea?

Destiny will just keep her mouth shut..

Jack wrinkled his eyebrows. TEAAAA? That was soooo boring! He had been hoping for something fun to brighten up this boring day likeeeee the Mimbulus Mimbletonia or something. THAT would have been awesome.

He raised his hand, trying to hide his distaste for the subject they were studying today. "Well, some people like to drink it a LOT...personally it's not really my thing, I'm more of a coffee person...anyways, it has...leaves?" he added uncertainly. It HAD to if they read tea leaves in divination, right?

"Its made from a plant. They dry it out and then put it in water. I`ve known it to have a calming effect. Like hot chocloate and coffee. It makes you feel warm and safe" Barry said raising his hand. That was a bit more personal but it answered the question so who cared?

"Tea.." Jenny began happily. "Is made of leaves and water. It comes hot, sweet, iced, or unsweet. There is flavored hot tea."

Nina raised her hand.

"Professor, tea is a plant. It's leaves are used to make a drink by the same name. Sometimes, the leaves left in the glass are used for fortune telling. The drink is high in anti-oxidants and contains caffeine. It's drunk when you're sick. There are also other herbs that can be mixed in."

How did someone walk in heels like that? Melanie's head snapped up from her desk (The warm greenhouse atmosphere made her tired...) as she heard the incoming clickity-clacks that surely meant Bunbury had arrived.

"Tea." Melanie repeated thoughtfully, tapping her fingers on her desk and staring out the window. "It's spelled T-E-A.... annnnnnd people drink it." she informed Professor Bunbury, hand held high up in the air.

Pssssh, everyone else stole all the good answers.

Emily raised her hand, this seemed like an easy,a nd a little fooloish, question.

"Tea is the agricultural product of the leaves, and internodes of the Camellia sinensis plant.Pea contains various types of polyphenols, Many people thnk it has tannic acis in it, but it doesn't. There are at least six varieties of tea; white, yellow, green, oolong, black and pu-erh.After water, tea is the most widely-consumed beverage in the world. It has a cooling, slightly bitter, astringent flavour which many enjoy."

Emily had her information in chuncks of different types of thing. But that was what she could remember and that was how she had to phrase it in a short amount of time.

...oh. So this class was actually... about something he knew a bit about. Raiden stopped rummaging around in his bag and started paying actual attention to what was going on. After, you know, the whole points deduction for... people who didn't seem to understand that they'd arrived at a class and not a social event. Sigh.

"There are quite a few myths about the origins of the plant itself, and the drink that's made from it. But the plant itself is guessed to have originated in Southeast Asia, and spread from there." He paused for a moment, then shrugged. "A lot of cultures are very tea-oriented. I know the Japanese have actual tea ceremonies and other things like that."

Pierre looked around the Herebology classroom. He looked around as everyone else who answered the question. He thought of a few things that he couldn't remember whether or not they were mentioned. He raised his hand and said, "There are six different kinds of tea. I believe they are white, yellow, green, oolong, black, and pu-erh." He lowered his hand and smiled, very proud of his answer.

Kel stared blankly at the others around him. Tea? Seriously? ...Maybe this Herbology class would be easy! Although Kel hoped they wouldn't have to drink tea or anything...he hated the stuff. His mother was practically in love with it, though.

Deciding that it wouldn't hurt to just say what he knew, he raised his hand. "It's a plant - a shrub I think...and it's leaves are dried and then put in water to make the drink." That sounded about right...right?

Cela raised her hand and gave Ivory, Allison and Arya a quick and warning smile. No chatter mmkay? Especially Ivory and Allison.

"Tea is a drug and a drink, professor. You can use it for healing and for hurting. Its actually, if you think about it, a kind of potion made up of mundane herbs. The idea of just calling it 'tea' is kind of misleading though on account of not just dried bits of Camellia sinensis. There are actually six different kinds of tea as well as infusions and tisanes made of herbs and fruit and all sorts of things. In Russia we have our tea differently than most places, though several middle eastern countries use something similar. We use a samovar and it has two chambers, one for boiling water and the other for a concentrated tea which is preboiled and its traditionally black with a smokey flavour." Cela offered. Obviously tea was considered important in her family.

Ian blinked.

Professor Bunbury's hair was so red and bright and shiny that it gave the impression of being on fire. Of her entire head being on fire. She was, however, quite pretty (for her age anyway) so he decided he would ponder later, whether her flaming hair improved Bunbury's appearance or not. "Dry tea has more caffeine than coffee itself." Ian made a face at this. Coffee was dreadful.

But then, tea wasn't exactly his thing so ... nevermind?

Becca shuddered at the memory of her bright red sunburn ((actually happened to me)) and raised her hand, "If you ever get a sunburn and your skin gets all...peely and gross, green tea can clear it up a bit." Then, she made a face. Peely and gross was right!

Allison missed Cela's warning completely for she had already abandoned the eleven year old and had become the ageless student who ignored everyone but the professor and work at hand. As it was she didn't really believe she had spoken before class, she had merely greeted her friends and taken a seat to read next to the prefect. It was all a matter of good manners, was it not?

Tilting her head in wonder Allison recalled everything she knew about tea. The only thing that came to mind was tealeaf-reading and she really did not believe in it. However seeing as it was her first thought, she went with instinct and rose her hand to answer, "Professor, tea has often been used when trying to read one's future. In this case the leaves left behind after the teas has been taken is what is used for the reading. In other words...tea-leaf reading."

The loss of house-points wasn't so surprising. It wasn't unusual either. The least she could do was earn some back, perhaps. She decided to introduce 'chai' into the conversation. Aschere raised her hand.

"Professor? Tea, in its many forms already described by a number of students here, is an infusion of herbs. It is often thought to have a calming effect. In India, tea is grown on tea estates primarily in the north-east, and is served with milk and sugar, and sometimes spices. We call it 'chai', as do several other cultures, I believe."

She hoped her answer was sufficiently unique. She shot a smile at the Ravenclaw from Russia.

Brant didn't really understand the question, but he answered anyways Raising his hand first of course "Well Professor, Tea is a good way to get someone warm, or invite others for a social. Also It tastes yummy, Better with sugar" he said and laughed.

Adrienne shrugged slightly as Professor Bunbury spoke before Fia could answer her question, not entirely surprised by the instruction to not chatter excessively. And she was intrigued by the professor's shoes. Not so much the color, since that was almost expected, but it was just nice knowing people who knew shoes actually were at Hogwarts, and the fact it was December didn't change anything.

But then they were discussing tea, and her blue eyes went up to the professor as she raised her hand slowly. "Different types of tea can affect people in different ways. For example, while most tea is known for its caffeine content, chamomile tea is used to help people relax and fall asleep quite often." And that was just random information, considering she was far rom knowing scientific names for teas and all the other stuff people were mentioning.
