Eyes glancing at the Headmaster, he shook his head, eyes going back at the merpeople to see if they said something else. "Well, I don't speak Mermish much," he said, immediately interrupted by the sudden Merman who pointed his trident at them, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, "Expelliarmus!" he continued off with the other sentence, "I can pretty much only understand." Understanding what they said was his specialty, because... speaking Mermish was just too tiring.

"Nothing else, one just asked where some keeeey was and the other just told her that their leader was wearing it around his neck," he told the adult though... he was pretty sure the key led to the princess. IT HAD TO.

He SOOOO felt like he was in some sort of a fairytale right now.

Cam nodded at the Gryffindor Prefect, taking a step back in the water. "Err yeah. It's probably the key that unlocks the princess," he said confidently, OMG fighting off evil mermaids... saving princesses, how could this NOT be a fairytale, eh?

Cam glanced back at Reese to say something to her and then SCREEEEEECCCHHHHH. The merman spoke again. That one REALLY just broke his ear-box thingymabob! Too much. Another step back, closer to Reese. SHE'D PROTECT HIM FROM DEATH RIGHT?!

Not again William thought as he put both his hands against his ears, shutting his eyes closed against the onslaught of the pain. When the screeching stopped he opened an eye and sighed. Could they get any louder? He was about to walk up to open of them look him in the eyes and scream with the sonorus spell placed on his throat. Hah take that merman. Instead what he did was hold his wand in front of him, blocking the gargoyle with his body, as if that would help any.

Plymouth smacked his forehead after having heard some of the (clearly smarter) kids translate the ear splitting shrieks. "I thought they were after you grapefruits, Sir!" Plymouth yelled to the Headmaster. "They just want a key! Can we stop shooting them now? Give them key?" Right?


He hadn't lowered his shield (and he certainly hadn't shot at any of them - Plymouth comes in peace, Merpeople!!) and butt bumped Evolette again. Plymouth eyed her over his shoulder, "You ... afraid?" Eyebrow wiggle. Plymouth wasn't anymore. Bunbury and Headmaster Speedo and Lawson and Nurse AVA LON... .they all loved him too much to let him die.

Casually flicking her hair off of her shoulder, Evolette McKenna gave Plymouth Morgan the LOOK, before leaning closer to whisper into his ear. "I'm only scared of Bunbry." she replied.

Really, she wasn't even scared, she was just... keeping her distance.

"I want to poke one of them." she added, her eyes fixed on the merpeople who were screeching loudly. "They're kinda shiny looking." Huh, who knew?

The Headmaster turned up and the fishes started speaking again. Something to do with a key... around Aronos' neck... not failing... yes, just like everyone else had said. "Sir... maybe, these merpeople are on our side?" he reasoned.

"If they want the key that their leader appears to possess... then that would mean they were planning treason? Maybe they were seeking your help... This Aronos fellow seems mean. Needa give him a good slap around the fins if you ask me," he suggested, brow frowned.

Dani came up with a clear course of action, hide behing Plymouth. Sounded good right? She moved as fast as she could to him. "Save me yeah?" She poked him in the side. He had to protect her, she was just so small and cute. How could he not? Of course he had almost let her drown while teaching her to swim, but this was totally different. Well, kinda. She looked up at him with the puppy dog eyes.

As the merpeople started screeching, Elizabeth had abandoned watching to see if her spells hit, clamping her hands over her ears without letting go of her wand and flinching as the noise made her head start pounding again. Serves you right, thinking your head was perfectly fine, she thought to herself, before looking around as the people around her started talking about keys, and the possibility the merpeople weren't trying to take over the school, and were here for a different reason. Well, except Evolette, who seemed to want to poke the creatures.

Tentatively taking her hands off her ears, cringing a little as it totally didn't help the pounding in her skull, she looked at whoever was closest to her. "Okay, so what's going on here?," she asked, her wand hand falling to her side, even though it was obvious she wasn't dropping her defenses.

He nodded in acceptance of the boy's translation, "Thanks."

"A very astute observation, mate. Perhaps they'd like to speak to us some more and we can determine whether or not there is something we can do to help them, or if they are against us, to defeat them."

He looked around. "ANYONE SPEAK MERMISH AROUND HERE?" he shouted. Darned if he knew a word of the language.

Varius smiled, pleased that the Headmaster saw some sanity within his theory -- and not many of his theories had any form of logic usually! "Erm... I can speak Mermish... with a hint of a french accent," he volunteered.

"Great! You've been nominated as translator. Try and ask them what they want from us," he suggested and then looked around. "Unless anyone else has a better idea?" This was one headmaster who was not too big for his britches.

As translator? Being given a title as important as that during a crisis such as this unnerved Varius greatly. It wasn't often he was responsible for things . Plucking up some courage, he stepped forward and repeated what he had said earlier, making sure to move his mouth more drastically to ensure a much clearer translation.





That was right, right? He hadn't accidentally asked them to do the macarena in only their underwear... probably. He'd soon find out, right?

Elizabeth blinked as she registered the conversation between the headmaster and some students. Now we're needing translators? So we're going to negotiate something? She didn't know if it was the return of her head trauma or just normal confusion anymore. But she definitely knew she wasn't looking forward to more screeching. But if it meant they weren't going to be threatened by spears anymore, the idea sounded fine to her. She just was going to need earplugs or something.

Cam looked at the Hufflepuff who'd previously showed he could speak Mermish, and waited for him to screech. He put his wand down and glanced at the 6th year Gryffindor, then back at the professor. Nuuu more attacking?! Another step back just for saaafety, right next to Reese. Yup. They'd take Reese rather than him...right? RIGHT? Hopefully.

And then the screeeching began.

He stared at the Hufflepuff until he was finished and then waited for a response from the merpeople. Guh. So close. Mermaids. Grindylows. How could this not get any awesomer&scarier at the same time?

William hesitated before putting his wand hand down and glancing at the Hufflepuff. Would it really all be a misunderstanding? he didn't really want to hurt the merpeople, he liked them they were cool. But he had to know all the facts. Putting his hands up to his ears he barely made it as the boy started screeching, and even though his ears were covered he still heard every word. Made no sense to him though but if they understood it then perhaps everything would work out.

Putting his hands back down he gripped his wands, looking from the headmaster to the Hufflepuff boy and back again.

"Ohh...thanks! You're not so bad yourself," she replied, a tiny hint of a smile forming on her face. She studied the girl for a moment, wondering how on Earth she'd managed to attend school with her for seven years and not know her, but then again, it was also possible that she was a transfer student. "I'm Anna. It's cool to meet you, Rave." She raised her wand in an attempt to casted Expelliarmus on the nearest merperson, but the shrill sound of one of them trying to speak caught her attention.

...a key? What key? The key to the cave Aornos' sister was locked in? The latest turn of events in this freaky flood disaster had her all confused, but one thing Anna was sure of was that the students and professors needed that key. If the key was secured around Aornos' neck, then it had to be the one that opened the sealed cave his sister was currently held captive in!

"That's exactly what I was thinking, Cam. I think the key supposedly dangling from Aornos' neck is the key to unlock that sealed cave he's got his sister in," she replied. Some brother he was. This was why Anna was glad she had no siblings...they were dangerous! Exactly how they were going to retrieve that key if it was around Aornos' neck was beyond her, but then again, they had to think of something. They couldn't just let Hogwarts be destroyed and overtaken for good!

Anna shook her head, indicating that unless she misunderstood, the merpeople did have the key. It was the students and professors who needed the key...definitely not the merpeople. "The leader of the merpeople, Aornos, has the key, Plym. Aornos is the one who's been flooding to the school, because, according to what the squid told us, he's not content to just rule the area he's been given. Apparently he wants to rule Hogwarts, too," she explained. "We think that key opens a sealed underwater cave that Aornos currently has his sister held captive in. It's important we get that key, so we can help rescue her. She's the rightful ruler of the merpeople..."

"There's quite a few of us that can help Varius if need be, sir. We found a book in the library that taught us how to read and speak Mermish," she replied. She listed as Varius spoke with the merpeople. In the meantime, they needed that key. Now where was Aornos?

He, King Aornos, was growing impatient with everything and the human wizards were getting in the way. His ear-piercing voice echoed throughout the school as he spoke:


He weilded his mighty trident and pointed it at the locked door. Loud screeching was heard and a brilliant purple light shot from the trident tips.

KABOOM!

The door splintered into a thousand pieces and Aornos directed the debris at the human wizards only. But he wasn't done just yet.

Alessia ran down to the gargoyle entrance after a silvery chimera patronus practically bowled her over. "Holy Sewer Rats!!! What is that thing!" She said and pointed her wand at the Merchieftan "Petrificus Totalis!" Alessia's wand work wasn't the best thought, and her hand was shaky.

Satine bent over from the high screeching coming from the King's mouth...wow that hurt...but that was nothing compared to the next thing...she quickly figured that he was trying to break down the door or get through them so she flicked her wand and said, "Protego!" to create a protection in front of her just in time to keep the shards of door from hitting her but those around her were not so lucky.

Once she could focus again, she looked at the King to see what his next move was and she fought with herself about sending a spell his way...did she really want to get injured that bad if he fought back? what a dilemma....

But she figured others would be shooting off spells in his direction also and he couldn't find them all off...right?

She pushed her doubts to the back of head and pointed her wand with a flick and yelled, "Stupefy!" and just prayed that it worked on a powerful merchieftan.

As soon as Jack saw the big mean Leaderman Merman point his big pointy trident at the door, he knew something bad was going to happen. He gripped his wand and sure enough, with a deafening BOOM the door exploded. EEP! He had to save Reese! And now that Rave was nearby, he had to save her too!

He held his wand and concentrated really REALLY hard..."PROTEGO!" he yelled. To his immense surprise, a shield actually flew up in front of the three of them, causing the pieces of splintered wood to fly away from them. Once the wood was out of their way he dropped the shield, still in awe that he had managed to conjure such a good shield on the spot like that.

It really hurt his head. He hoped he wasn't going to pass out!

Aornos swam out of the way and the spell missed him. However, he was not in the least amused. The king turned and pointed his mighty trident at the woman. An unintelligible screeching was heard and from his trident, a bright red light shot forward. It headed directly at the chest of the witch who was pointing her wand at him.

William glanced around, not even noticing the king had arrived until he heard a high pierced screech. "Grrrrrr!" he shouted, covering his ears and shouting "Prot..." before the door exploded. Luckily for him he hadn't gotten hurt, but he pushed Paris out of the way, landing on top of her to block anything from hitting her.

Rolling as he landed he jumped back up, now completely drenched in water, his eyes angry. Making sure Paris was okay, he directed his wand at the King, shaking.

Seeing the Merchieftan aiming for the Professor, Satine ran over next to her and yelled, "Protego!" creating a shield in front of herself and the Professor praying that it was strong enough to protect them both....while she wondered what was she doing being brave and heroic...wow she was a stupid firstie...

One of the merwomen shrieked and threw her spear to the headmaster, then swam towards him with grabby hands out to try to get his face.

Another merwoman threw her spear towards a ravenclaw girl! (Lezleighd) She wasn't going to let her attack her king!

The spell hit her square in the chest and pushed her back, slamming her against the wall. She was unconscious and floating in the rising water.

Satine turned in time to see a spear headed her way, but she wasn't quick enough and the spear hit her in her leg. She was in complete shock and was more worried about the Professor than about herself. She fell to the ground and out of the line of fire looking for the Professor to make sure she was okay.

She looked around frantically from her sitting position and then glanced at her leg and saw the trident sticking out and she knew that her best choice was to just pull it out...

She felt the tears come flowing down her cheeks but she gritted her teeth and pulled...

And that was all she remembered..... the pain....made her quickly pass out...she thought she saw the professor out of the corner her eyes get hit...and then there was black...

And she was out...
