Lyra felt her hand being yanked from it's socket as Agie pulled her in the opposite direction of Mr. Meanie. Oh there goes more points for them running! Woot! But now she knew that Agie had a plan and she hoped it was to get that meanie set in his own place. If he demanded respect then so did she!

He gestured at the boy a he scrambled to pick up an armload of books. "Should a prefect not help every student, regardless of house?" he asked her casually.

Anna took a deep breath and walked forward just a bit more, leading herself into the trap known as Professor Kazimeriz. "They should be willing to help anyone," she answered, a little confused as to why she was being asked such a question. Had there been someone she'd seen, yet hadn't helped? "...regardless of house," she added. Anna followed the professor's gesture and turned around to see Seymour Addams, scrambling to pick up an armload of books. Anna turned back to the professor, realizing now what he'd been asking her about. "That must have happened when I'd turned to talk to you," she remarked. "I'll go help him now."

XanaSnape 01-24-2009 05:58 AM

Professor Kazimeriz nodded once, watching her. He was by no means done with her, but first she would help the young Addams child; a prefect needed to be an example, after all. He would make one of her.

When the professor nodded, Anna turned and walked over to Seymour. She didn't mind helping Seymour, of course, but she was also glad to be a few additional steps away from that mean, old professor. "Hey, Seymour," Anna greeted. She smiled and then leaned down to collect the remainder of the books, handing them to Seymour when she was done. "Have a good day," she added, standing up to head back to the professor.

Seymour watched in slight horror as the Gryffindor prefect walked over to him with the intention of helping him with his books-- which would have been fine, if it hadn't been purposeful and/or hadn't been Her-- of all people! Spawn of the Devil! He looked up at Anna, hunched over the massive pile of books, glaring slightly-- well, that wasn't supposed to have happened!

"No, really, I'm just fine--" he hissed, his eyes darting over to the professor and back. He swiftly reached up and knocked the books out of her hands, scattering them everywhere again. "I don't need your help, peasant! Go back to what you were doing!" He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, looking up at her.

Anna watched Seymour, noticing the horrified look on his face at the thought of someone like her helping him. The professor had pretty much told her she had to, though, so that's just what she was going to do. Anna tried to work as quickly and carefully as she could. She wanted to hear what the professor had to say, get this all over with, and then head back to the Common Room. This professor was causing to her to never want to step foot out of the Common Room again, although he probably had access to every Common Room anyway.

Anna softly gasped as Seymour began exclaiming that he didn't need any help. Anna closed her eyes, beginning to feel clearly defeated, when Seymour purposely scattered his books all over the floor once again. "Alright, alright," she said. "I apologize for upsetting you. I'll just grab these books, straighten them into a neat pile for you, and then I'll be on my way." Before Seymour could protest, Anna grabbed the books near her feet, straightened them into a stack and then nodded at Seymour. He obviously didn't want any additional help, so there was no need sticking around. Anna turned back towards the professor, hoping she'd done enough to please him.

XanaSnape 01-24-2009 06:40 AM

Professor Kazimeriz watched the interaction with interest. Peasant? The Addams child obviously had an issue with the prefect. The question was...why? "Addams!" he called to the young lad. "A word with you."

Seymour turned his attention towards the professor, both curious and bewildered. Hadn't he been talking to Anna? He'd just dropped his books-- he didn't need help to pick up his books, after all-- and he'd quite been looking forward to what the professor had to say. "Yessir." Since when had he known his surname anyhow? He'd never met him before... had he invaded his mind?

Dutifully standing up, he made his way over to the professor, wringing his hands and bouncing slightly on the spot. "You wished to see me, sir?" he squeaked, looking up at the professor.

XanaSnape 01-24-2009 06:59 AM

Kazimeriz looked from Addams to Greingoth and back, peering at them both. They had both grown up quite a bit from the previous year's yearbook, but not enough as to be unrecognizable. "What is the issue between the two of you?" The question was for both students... he waited with interest. Ah, story time.

Anna glanced over at Seymour, barely able to remember exactly why she'd somehow gotten on the Slytherin boy's "Bad List." She knew it had something to do with what had happened in the library with Will last school year, but she couldn't remember exactly what. It had probably amounted to her tendency to get a tad bossy from time to time. It seemed rather odd to be bringing up the story now, but nevertheless, the professor wanted to hear it.

"Last school year, I came across as being a bit on the bossy side towards Seymour and his friend Will," Anna explained. "I eventually apologized, though, so hopefully everything is in the past." Anna glanced back at Seymour again and then back to the professor. "That's the only incident I can think of that may cause Seymour to not care for me too much."

Seymour glanced at his feet, thinking back to that particular day in the library last term, where he'd first met Anna. "Well... you see, sir, when not being supervised by a professor, Prefect Greingoth is an entirely different person. As she mentioned, she can be extremely bossy, sir-- and overall, very rude, arrogant, and self-centered. On multiple accounts last term, she repeatedly insulted me and my fellow classmates, even attempting to nick some very important... textbooks when we were having a study session, sir."

He glanced over at Anna and back to the professor, taking a deep breath. "She was also insulting her fellow prefects, particularly Billium Q. Jones, noble knight and prefect of Slytherin house... and it was my duty as his squire to defend him. She constantly favors her own house and picks on the others." He looked up at the professor, eyes wide, curious and fearful of his response.

XanaSnape 01-24-2009 07:43 AM

Professor Kazimeriz listened to both positions. Very interesting. He thought back to Diagon Alley; he remembered seeing young Seymour Addams being quite picked on in the street. Something about a creature and shouts of 'nerd germs'... Hm. Had the prefect's behavior led other students down the road to misbehavior and disrespectful attitudes, even to bullying of younger students? By the company she chose- Miss Brandywine in particular- it was clear that she was comfortable with impertience and boorish behavior. Perhaps it was time for her to take a lesson.

"Prefect Greingoth. I had initially called you over to offer you an opportunity to earn back the points I took from you during the Great Feast. However, now I have new information on your conduct, and I must address it."

"Between your two perspectives I see a disparity. It seems that while you are an excellent student academically and favored by... some professors... " he glowered at her "perhaps to students of other houses and your underclassmen, you present a image that is most unfavorable. Certainly the impression you have made on this young Slytherin is hardly that upstanding role model that a Prefect must be." He paused, shifting his weight and moving his cane.

"And so I assign to you a task. Until further notice, you are to be young Addams' advocate. You will assist him in homeworks, help him engage socially, defend him to those who might--" The image of children screaming 'nerd germs!' ran through Kazimeriz's memory "treat him unfavorably. You will not explain your actions to anyone. You will treat him as a valued member of the student body that you here to serve, as Prefect." He looked to Seymour. "I will call you both to my office at my discretion. If I am pleased by the developments of this little... experiment... you will earn rewards for your triumph. If not... well... a Prefect is more than a shiny badge. If a badge is the only mark of a Prefect you wish to bear, we can happily revoke it." He smiled his Gila Monster smile at them both, his eyes cold and flat and calculating.

Kayla made her way back to the fourth floor in the hopes that this was where she had left her bag. She remembered having it with her when she had reached the corridor but she could honestly not remember taking it with her when she had left with Gabben.

Oh look Banana was still here and she was chatting with...uh oh it was the new DADA Professor that she had heard so much about. Well she was only coming to get her bag and leaving, how much trouble could she get into for that. Her steps halted about six feet from the professor as she looked up in horror...apparently a lot of trouble. Her pet tarantula Webster, had made his way out of her bag and was now venturing up the professor's back. Oh mother of Merlin...she was going to be in for it now unless of course the professor could see the funny side of it...er she was definitely dead.

"Uh...excuse me Prof..." oh crap too late...Webster was now crawling on the professor's head.

XanaSnape 01-24-2009 08:05 AM

Something was tickling Professor Kazimeriz's back. He shifted, wanting to fidget but unwilling to behave in an undignified manner in front of students. He heard a student address him. It was the Hufflepuff girl prefect. What was her name again? His eyebrows furrowed as he tried to remember from the registrar. "One moment, Prefect --" his fingertips went to his temple as he tried to remember. "Prefect Winters. I am trying to address a --"

He felt something. Something soft and tickly on his head, a slight addition of weight. His hand flew up to see what it was and he drew down..

A tarantula? He looked at it in his hand, more than a little surprised.

Mell 01-24-2009 08:12 AM

Kayla looked at the professor and she was wincing slightly waiting for the fireworks but he actually looked rather stunned to be holding a tarantula in his hand and she quickly seized the opportunity.

"I am sooooooo sorry Professor Kazimeriz, I accidentally left my bag behind and Webster was inside. And I...I...guess he wanted some fresh air. He is fully tame and he wouldn't hurt a fly...well actually he would because he eats them" she shook her head, trying to get a grip of herself. "What I mean is he wouldn't hurt anyone, he just looks rather scary" Kayla took a deep breath and rocked back and forth on her feet, anxiously waiting for the Professor to speak.

XanaSnape 01-24-2009 08:29 AM

Professor Kazimeriz smiled at the Hufflepuff Prefect. "Scary? My dear, I do not believe we have been introduced. I am Professor Kazimeriz, your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. My tenure on this planet includes experiences with lethifolds, chimeras, nundus, pogrebin, boggarts, acromantulas, werewolves, and many other dark and mysterious creatures including that most challenging of creatures, the adolescent human. I hardly think that this small creature is anything of grave concern." He smiled at the spider almost... affectionately? Yes, with genuine affection, so unlike the smiles he had offered the students today. "However, not all professors share my enthusiasm for such creatures. As such, you would do well to keep a more careful eye on him." He drew his wand and conjured up a tiny yellow and black leash and collar on the tarantula, attached to the upper portion of one of its forelegs. "Perhaps this will help." He held out the spider for her to take, the long, tiny leash hovering in the air for her to grasp as well.

Mell 01-24-2009 08:59 AM

"No we haven't" she agreed and holding out her hand. "It's an absolute pleasure to meet you Professor Kazimeriz. My name is Kayla Winters, fifth year Hufflepuff and..."she gave her badge a fleeting glance of course he wouldn't be able to miss it, but she thought it best to introduce herself properly...Prefect" she finished rather lamely.

Oh wow was that another smile? The professor didn't seem all the bad to her, actually he was rather charming and anyone who loved creatures just s much as she did well they went to the top of her list. Really what was everyone talking about? Her eyes widened slightly as he rattled off all the dark creatures and she couldn't stop herself from asking. "Oh will we be covering any of those this year?"

Kayla watched with fascination as he conjured a leash and she took Webster and the leash from the professor. "Oh thank you, this will really help. He doesn't like to be cooped up for too long and does tend to wander" she chuckled softly. "So did you have a good summer Professor? Oh I hope I'm not out of line asking personal questions like that?"

She was sure that was probably not what Theo had in mind, but he did say he'd tell her anything. "Yeah, Peeves is a menace," Anna added. "You don't want to get anywhere near him. Not unless you want disaster to happen."

Theo looked at the floor. Now he was in trouble. Or he thought so. "I wanted her to hold my hand. So I didn't get lost," he announced. "I only wanted someone to look after me. My Mummy always holds my hand. She doesn't want to lose me at all." He still didn't like being lost. At least he wasn't alone anymore.

Then the lovely professor came and said hello. But he sent them away. Now he was standing in the middle of the Forth Floor Corridor all alone.

Maybe he'd see what they had in the library.

Snapping out of his distracted trance only just in time and skidding to a halt, he stopped only feet away from a thin, frail old man, nearly dropping his books in surprise. What was he doing, standing in the middle of the corridor? He quietly shifted to the side and began to continue on his way to the library, when he heard the old man/professor person mention 'having a word' with Anna. He froze, barely concealing a grin, and intentionally accidentally dropped his books, stooping to collect them again and pausing to hear what the professor had to say.

This would be interesting.

Theo, standing in his own little world, saw a guys books fall over. But then Kazi ordered Anna to help him. But Theo could do it. He wasn't that stupid. Really.

He would have to see if that boy was ok. Later.

Anna's eyes grew as wide as the posibly could and her jaw practically dropped to the floor. Remembering who she was in the presence of, Anna quickly snapped her mouth closed once again. She simply stared at Seymour as he fed the professor a story that put her in a light she knew she didn't deserve to be put in. This was completely ridiculous. So she'd been a tad bossy to Will, but she'd apologized and thought all of it was in the past. Apparently it wasn't, though. All she knew was that she was not a completely different person when the professors were not around. Anna shook her head as Seymour claimed she "insulted" a group of students and attempted to steal a textbook during a study session. Ugh. Seymour was painting a completely different picture of the story for the professor. No telling what the man thought of Anna now. She said nothing as Seymour continued with more and more talk that just wasn't true. The way Anna saw it, though, anything she said at this point would probably just end up in her losing more points.

Anna looked back up at the professor when he called her name once again. Her eyes saddened when she heard that he had initially intended to give her an opportunity to earn back the points she'd lost at the Welcoming Feast. Now thanks to Seymour, she may never see those points again. Not opening her mouth to say a single word, Anna listened to what the professor said. She had to swallow a few times to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall. This whole situation was completely and totally unfair. She felt as if she should speak up and say something, but once again, she figured that anytthing she would say would end up with her getting into more trouble than she was already in.

Anna eyes became a little more alert when the professor said that he was assigning her a task. Great. Tomorrow, she'd probably be cleaning the dungeons with a toothbrush...or worse, the toilets, scrapping gum out from under desks, or something equally as disgusting. The thought alone made her nearly puke.

An advocate for Seymour?!?! What?!?! The toilet cleaning was starting to sound better by the second. Not that Anna minded being nice to Seymour and helping him in any way, but the boy made it so difficult for her. He absolutely refused to allow her to make up for what had happened last school year. The professor was threatening to remove her badge, though, and that was something Anna knew she deserved to keep. Ughhhh. "Yes, sir," she stated for the third time. "I'll start right now."

Anna turned towards Seymour. "Seymour, I'd like to apologize for anything I've done to upset you. Please accept my apologies and know that from here on out, things between you and I will be different," she said, hoping the boy wouldn't throw a book at her or something like that.

XanaSnape 01-24-2009 06:51 PM

Kazimeriz nodded, pleased. He hoped that she would not turn on the boy when there was no professor present as Addams had claimed. It would be interesting to see if she could showcase leadership and mentoring skills as a Prefect should.

Speaking of mentoring... "Very good, Prefect Greingoth... It is my belief that the role of the upperclassmen is to encourage and guide the underclassmen." He paused, surveying the situation. He remembered Theo's visit in his office... The boy was somewhat slow, in his estimation. And he just stood there, staring. "Newtington, are you lost or has someone hit you with a stunner?" he snapped.

"I see. " He paused, thinking. The boy was both slow and apparently insecure. Perhaps even lost. "Very well. You will be with Addams. Addams, see to it that Newtington finds his way to his destination safely and securely and returns to his common room before curfew. " He rocked back slightly and then turned to Prefect Winters.

Kayla couldn't help but beam at the Professor. "You're most welcome also, I am glad that you enjoyed your summer." She looked at Anna and gave her a slightly sympathetic look, Kayla didn't know what she had done to upset the Professor, she was just glad that it wasn't her. And oh what was this...she just earned five points for Hufflepuff. She stroked her tarantula lightly with her fingers, he would get a special treat for this.

"Why thank you Professor Kazimeriz, that should help with our points total a little" she picked up her bag and hoisted it onto her shoulder. "Well I better get back to the common room and prepare some more for classes. I do hope that I can visit you sometime during the school term Professor, I think you would have some interesting stories to tell."

Angie 01-27-2009 05:25 AM

Because the fifth year already knew how protective Madame Kohan was of her domains, and books especially, she was not even going to bother to put up a flier inside the Library itself. She really didn't want to get on detention, nor did she want to lose points--especially not now that they were on first place. Perhaps she could ask her about it? Maybe later. She still had to go to Vindictus office.

After putting up one the flier, she left the place, again, completely oblivious to her surroundings.
