Mari looked over at Ludo, who had been oddly quiet for a bit, thinking for a bit after he asked his question. " Well, I don't know exactly what the course are called...I'd have to look at my books again. But I've always been among the best in my age group as far as charms and transfiguration went." She said with a slightly proud grin." So, whatever classes those are I will definitely be enjoying...but nothing with potions. I'm afraid I haven't the patience for that. I can make one if I have to , but I'm always afraid I'm going to make something blow up in my face." She laughed a little as she finished speaking.

Mari's gaze moved back up to the table, her eyes curiously moving to where the woman in question was sitting. She didn't look very threatening, but then most things that were truly dangerous never appeared so until it was too late. " Really...Well, thank you for the warning, I guess." She smiled and sat back down, as she had been leaning up out of her seat to see better. She had probably been noticed, but that didn't matter. " Being an only child was be a bit boring at times." She said, being more honest now. It was even worse when one had just one parent and hardly ever saw the other she thought with a little bitterness. " I had a few cousins in France when I was growing up, so they were almost like having brothers and sisters." She said, mentally shrugging off her unpleasant memories. " I had a cousin named Lisette, who is two years older than me and a cousin named Bertrand who is just a year older, so we always went to school together. The rest of my cousins are all either too young or old for me to have gone to school with, " She said as she idly pushed the pudding around in it's little bowl.

"Oh am I?" Chris whispered back and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Jenn turns and smiles at Jason. "I'm doing good thanks! How about you?" Jenn said smiling.

Jenn then turns to Toshi. "I'm a first year!"Jenn says excitedly. "Wow! Boys and girls were at different schools last year!? How wierd. That must of been no fun. I mean, not seeing your friends and stuff like that." Jenn said thougtfully. Jenn leans over and grabs a brownie, then pours her some milk.

Melinda nodded and kissed his cheek back. She smiled. "Yes..." She assured and giggled.

Robert grinned as he saw Sabrina hurry over toward his table. It widened as she gave him a hug and he hugged her back. "Same to you." He shook his head and said a bit bitterly, "Of course not. I didn't cause any mischief or burn down anything so it was of no consequence to him. My mum did though, asked if I found everything I needed. "I'd be a bit worried if you burned something to be honest," Sabrina giggled. She laughed as he spoke about his mum and her turned red almost instantly thinking of the questions that would've been asked. "Don't worry, I haven't tested it, but it should be really fast," she said remembering how often she had wanted to ride it. Rolling her eyes she sighed, his dad did seem extremely strict but it was not her place to say. "Hey, Snowdrop's lovely, why wouldn't your dad like her?" she asked confused.

Robert laughed, "Yea...I would to." Only because there would be a good chance his father would send him to Durmstrang if he did. He watched as her hair turned red and smirked, "Oh, I wouldn't have cared much if you tried it out. After all you were nice enough to keep it for me." He looked down at his empty plate and sighed himself, "My dad..." He looked around making sure no one was overhearing him, "My dad is a right git. He likes sucks all the fun out of everything and takes away anything that makes me even the slightest bit happy." He played with the silverware on the table as he remembered how happy they were once before his father had gained his position.

Sabrina shook her head trying to get the colour to change, but it stayed the same red and she gave up. It would change back when it was ready, her emotions had to be stronger than she thought. "Yeah but then I would've got to go on it first, and it's better to have the owner go first to get used to it." She frowned, hating the fact that she was right, his dad was a horrible idiot. "That's horrible though, he shouldn't be able to take stuff away from you. Everyone needs happiness in their life." That was why she'd been taken to Europe, her aunt thought she was moping. Placing her hand on his shoulder she smiled, "Hey your dad can't get you here, this is where you're allowed to be extremely happy."

Patricia grinned, someone was agreeing with her about parents and how difficult they could be. And having Mariel and Jenn show her some cool new stuff was really exciting.


As Patricia looked around the Great Hall again, her eyes strayed toward a girl that seemed to be somewhat alone at the Ravenclaw table. Patty didn't like the idea of someone feeling alone in a room full of people. She waved at the girl, silently asking her to join the small group of first and second years. She smiled to entice her to come over.

Patricia shook her head, "Nope, sorry... I've never heard of her. What kind of music does she sing?" she asked with a note of curiosity. "Maybe I've heard her on the Wireless?"

Patricia watched as another girl patted Maura on the head. She had to giggle at the sight. She seemed like quite a card, in a good way too. So quite happy to meet a friend of Maura's, she said, "Hi, I'm Patricia.... or Patty for short." She gave her a funny grin, hoping to be on friendly terms with her too.

she smiled as he mentioned the queen poking his fingers." lets hope she doesnt take out the king. We had a pretty interesting queen in our last knights chess set. She was a rather cranky." the queen was. When she heard that it would do her well she gave him a smile." lets hope so. wouldn't want to be stuck in a house that wasnt mine. That would royally suck." she teased a little as they had talked about chess.or maybe that was cards. She wasnt the best at games.

"Fantastic." she said as ludo said he was in." This is going to be fun. I will try not to cream you both to bad. That way it doesnt look too bad." she told them both with a smirk. "That's right. Work hard. I dont want to win with flying colors." she loved competitions. she gave him a smile as she nodded a little." it was fun. You should run into me more often." she teased him.

"Well she might of done you a favor." she added when she wanted the cat to find her people who were worth talking too. she listened to her explain more of the history of slytherin and the man who started it. She should borrow the book from the library." well at least im a pureblood." she added to the end of her cousin's little speech. she raised an eye brow at her as she spoke about how she could get her to loose points." Only if it comes with transfiguring you into something." that would be fun. Transfigure someone into something. Oooo she couldnt wait to do that. she looked around rather shady as she was looking for her subject. she smiled at her cousins as she was just messing around. she listened to her talk about winning the house cup. she snickered as she chuckled a little. " Right. Right after us." Yeah she fit right in with slytherin.

"you better watch out ludo." she said as she leaned towards the table to see him better." She threatened to turn me into something in diagon alley. watch yourself." she teased as she gave her cousin a small nudge." she makes a speech. What for?"

Elizabeth couldn't help but hear when Mari told Ludo her best subjects. "Oh!," she said with a smile. "One of my best subjects is charms, too. And History of Magic, cause I like reading. I'm okay in potions. I mean, I'm not anywhere near the best. But my worst subjects are ancient runes and astronomy. I don't know why, though. I've just never gotten into them."

She smiled again as Mari thanked her. "You're welcome, I guess." Then, as the other girl discussed her family, she took another drink of her pumpkin juice as she listened. After she finished, she spoke. "I'm sorry that you found it boring. Sometimes I wish I didn't have people running around all the time. Jonathan's 20, so I never really went to school with him. And then Ariana, my little sister, is 8, and William is the youngest. He's 6. But I usually just had to deal with them running around, being annoying at home. Rhiannon just turned 18 this year, but she was always locked in her room, drawing, when she lived with us. Or Jonathan got us all into an impromptu Quidditch game." She felt bad for Mari, and how uncomfortable she seemed to be right now. But she had no idea what to talk about.

As Asteira joined in on the chess talk, she sighed. "Am I the only one who has no idea what you all are talking about?," she complained good-naturedly. Nobody in her house had ever been that interested in doing things like that. They were either outside running around, or playing video games or whatever in the entertainment room back home.

But then Asteira was getting all competitive, and she forgot her self-pity. Grinning, she said, "Yes, but both of us have been here before. So we know things you don't. And there's two of us, and only one of you. So I think we have it in the bag."

She lost a bit of her smile as Asteira pointed out she was pureblood. "I'm not. I'm only a half-blood," she said. It kind of bothered her, that her cousin had something over her. But then her cousin went on teasing her, and she got a bit of her spark back. "Who said I'd let you transfigure me into anything?," she said back. "And, two of us, one of you, remember? We're so going to win." She grinned again.

As Asteira told Ludo something else, she shook her head and laughed a bit. "No I didn't. Or at least, I only said I was going to in retaliation to you saying you were going to transfigure me into something. I don't randomly go around threatening people I like." Then she was asked another question. "Oh. The headmistress?," she asked, then continued. "She just welcomes us to the school, introduces new staff, and tells us a little about what to expect. That's all." She had only ever heard one opening speech, so she wasn't exactly sure herself.

"Its alright. Im sure Ludo or I will help teach you. Its not that difficult. You'll learn rather fast. Obviously we cant exactly teach you now, but i promise i'll teach you." she assured her cousin. "its really simple so it wont be hard to learn. Besides your smart. You'll do fine." she listened to her talk about how they had an advantage of knowing things that she didn't." So. Its not like i cant get someone to show me around. Points are things that come natural along with talent. Which i have. So you can stuff that bag somewhere else. Just because their is two of you doesn't mean anything. i can go find someone to join and then their be two of us." wouldnt be too hard. Everyone liked to earn points.

she gave her cousin a smile as she said she was a half breed." its not as big of a deal as its made out to be." she told her trying to make her feel better."um... i did. I said i was going to." she smiled as she moved to fold her arms and rest them against the table. " And you'll win in your dreams. Better keep astronomy to me and keep to your charms."

she leaned over to see him better again when she gave him a small nod." She really does. Dont let her fool you." she teased as she moved to take a drink of her pumpkin juice." Just watch her during transfiguration class. I have your back so don't worry to much." she assured ludo as if anyone going to get to turn anyone into anything it was going to be her." Sounds interesting." she said as she turned to look at the staff table.

"Of course it is!" Celandine replied before realising that was something her brother would say and sounded fairly arrogant. She put both hands over her mouth, "Ooops I mean its Nice to meet you too, Raiden Kururugi." He had avery nice sounding name, "Sit!"

Celandine looked up at another girl who approached and gave her a little wave.
"All the people I met at first were Slytherins too; my brother is a Slytherin. Although most of my Slytherin friends are waaaaay older than me." Cela paused and looked between Lucas and Raiden, "Not any more though I hope."

Cela smiled happily; potatoes temporarily forgotten, "My name is Celandine, but call me Cela okay? Sit down!" Celandine shuffled over even more, there was plenty of space; Cela and Lucus didn't take up alot of room.

"Sit down Raiden!" Cela repeated, a little bossily but with a cheerful chirp in her voice.

"I had to sink the pirate ship." Celandine admitted, "The pirates were too big." Cela went back to eating her creation, enjoying herself immensely. "If you are a Slytherin then you might know some of my friends and my brother." Celandine said, with a friendly smile at Lucas, including Raiden in the grin as well.

Ebony thought carefully for a moment "potions." She smiled. What's your favourite spell?

Raiden thought for about half a second before shaking his head. He remembered everyone he'd met, he was sure. And as far as he could recall, there had been no Demetrius. And that was a fun name, he was sure as anything that he'd remember.

"I dunno anyone named Demetrius, Meredith," he admitted. "But I'd like to meet him! I want to get to know everyone, most everyone here seems really nice."

He grinned at her as he turned back to Celandine.


Raiden sat down obediently and laughed. This girl was very determined to make friends, too! They would get along well, he hoped. She was a second year, so... she would have many friends already, he was sure. Maybe she'd introduce him! He bounced a bit at the thought.

"Your brother is in Slytherin?" he chimed in, as she spoke to Meredith. "Maybe I'll get to meet him, and I can be friends with him, too! Then I can have more friends in my house... Right now I only know Evangeline Green, I think."

And then... she was talking about pirates? And sinking pirate ships? He stared at the plate and giggled.

"There were pirates in there?" he said, incredulous. He liked this girl already, she was fun!

"Demetrius? Cool name." Celandine prodded her remaining pirate thoughtfully ensuring it was still on dry potato and not risking meeting an early end in gravy jones locker.



"My brother is over there." Celandine agreed and pointed at Nicholai who was sitting next a hufflepuff with a badge over at the Slytherin table. She frowned, "Usually he is surrounded in girls." Celandine nodded at Raiden,

"Evangeline Green? Cool, that rhymes; if she's pretty she might be friends with my brother...or will be eventually. Which one is Evangeline Green?" Celandine peered over at the Slytherin table.

"This is the last pirate," Celandine pierced it with her fork and held it up to the light, "And now, since I apparently just killed him, He needs a funeral." Cela carefully balanced the fork on the edge of her plate and scraped a hole in the remaining potato island. She scraped the dead vegetable pirate into the hole and covered it with potato.

"A moment of silence please." Celandine instructed, with a sly look at Barry to see how he would take it- he didn't seem to impressed with her table antics today.

After a long enough moment, Cela solemly scooped up a mouthful of potato and pirate and ate it, chewing thoughtfully.

"Sooooo, what is the first thing everyone is going to do after the speech?"

Meredith waved back at the girl named Cela. She seemed very nice, with a lot of fantasy..Something about pirate ships? She didn't really know what Cela was talking about..
There was also this other boy,Lucas. Appearantly, he knew Barry and was in Slytherin. Lucas was also talking about the pirates. Did it have to do something with food?
Meredith watched Raiden finally sit down, after Cela had said it afew times. "Yes, everyone here seems really nice" she agreed, smiling. She'd have to visit the Slyhterin table later, but right now she was enjoying meeting new people here too much.
Even if Raiden only knew this Evangeline Green, who she didn't know, he seemed to know quite a lot people outside his house already now. She only knew Slytherins and Ravenclaws, yet.
Meredith was glad Raiden asked about the pirates, because she had no idea what they were talking about either..At least she wasn't the only one.
Meredith was just going to ak if there wasn't going to be some kind of speech later, when Cela said something about it. "What kind of speech will it be?" she asked. Most speeches she had ever heard were really boring.
She was already pretty tired from the long journey with the train.

Raiden followed Celandine's pointing/gazing and spied who he hoped was the person she meant. He hadn't met the older boy yet, but he sure hoped that he could! Having friends in his own house was something he really, really wanted. Evangeline Green was a good friend, to be sure, but that didn't mean that she had to be his only friend in Slytherin. He smiled at Celandine again.

"I didn't meet him yet, is he as nice as you?" He giggled as she speared the pirate. "I know! I told her about it, she didn't even notice it rhymed... I even made a rhyme in my head for it. Evangeline Green is that one, right there with the Prefect badge."

He pointed out the older girl, and then thought for a moment. Could Evangeline Green know Celandine's brother? He couldn't be sure. He didn't even know what was going on between her and that boy who she'd talked to after the potato incident...

"After the speech?" he asked, following the moment of silence for the impaled pirate. "What are we supposed to do?"

Raiden then turned his attention to Meredith. She was talking about how nice everyone here was... Raiden chose not to mention anything about the Gryffindor Table incident. That was an isolated event, and nothing was pointing to the idea that it might occur again.

"Most everyone I've met has been really nice to me," Raiden said brightly, beaming. "Everyone's been very friendly, especially Kingston Wendleworth, he was very nice, he was teaching me things." He looked around to see if he could spot the seventh year, but he couldn't seem to find him. "And Evangeline Green is really nice, and Daphne Hopton, and Barry of course," he said, indicating the boy who was still with them. "He invited me over here, to meet new friends."

"I really love the Patronus Charm and Accio," Edie said after a few seconds thought. "What potion do you like the most?"

"Its supposed to be a welcoming speech by the headmistress." Celandine turned to look at the staff table, "I'm not really sure, last year was kind of different. But she is really...awesome, so it will be interesting. After that we get to go up to the Ravenclaw tower. We can find our dorm together, Meredith since I haven't been here either."


Is Nicholai Toussaint as nice as Celandine Toussaint? Cela decided to take that as a rhetorical question and just giggled.
"Oh she's a prefect! Neat! You can introduce me to her! I already know the other Slytherin Prefect, Will; he is really, really nice; although sometimes a little bit angsty but its okay because Jai's rope will work really well now that the school isn't seperated." Celandine chattered to herself, not really thinking that the three first years wouldn't have a clue what she was on about.

Cela looked over and examined the indicated prefect.
"Oh she's pretty; Nico will make friends with her." Cela confirmed before finishing the last of her potatoes. She continued to rubberneck over the Slytherin table; she recognised Clifford; he'd gotten a parchment piece too.
"Clifford is scared of girls." Celandine announced and pointed to him.

"Well we are supposed to go to our common rooms I guess." Celandine answered, "But I really want to see the library; right Barry?" Cela elbowed Barry gently.

She took a deep breath and smiled at Meredith, Raiden and Lucas.
"After that I want to unpack all my things, read the books my brother got me for my birthday, ooh I have to think of a name for my new owl," Cela turned to Barry, " Thanks Barry," She continued her list without missing a beat,

"settle my owl in the owlery, see what the view is like in the owlery and compare it to the view from Ravenclaw tower, go see the Astronomy tower, find a tree to climb in the grounds, find the best area for Steelsheen and I to skate, go say hi to Allie and Sheeta, have a look at the greenhouses, meet the professors I don't know yet, get a headstart on homework and avoid my brother."

Celandine paused and casually poured herself a glass of water.

"So what about you guys? Surely there are things you want to do most?"

Celandine took a sip of water and popped a couple chilli candies in her mouth, looking around curiously.

"Oh wow! That's saying something if you like History of Magic. Absolutlely nothing wrong, just impressive. I'm more of a Potions guy. Don't get me wrong I know my way around a wand, but I've got a passion for potions." he said with a smile. "My older sister, Kit, never drank anything in front of me because she thought I was odd for enjoying potions." he said, as Liz took a sip of her juice.

Liz then became upset when the conversation went back to Chess. "Oh, Wizard's Chess is exactly like Muggle Chess except the pieces attack one another...hard. I'll show you some other time."

Asteira and Liz then spoke of transfiguring someone. "Well...I will try my best not to get on either of your bad sides."
He took a bite of a Cauldron Cake and looked up at the Staff Table for the Headmisstress.

Mari looked up and smiled as Elizabeth told her she was also quite proficient in charms. " Well, seeing as we're both in the same house, I'm sure we'll have that class together. " She said happily. Mari had always had a bit of trouble making good friends with other girls; Back home, she only had two close friends who were girls. She always seemed to get along easier with boys, as if her own gender was too mysterious even for her. However, so far Elizabeth seemed to be very easy to get along with, and there wasn't the usual discomfort in the conversation.

When Elizabeth mentioned History of Magic, Mari wrinkled her nose and laughed a little. " I'm terrible at that. I can never keep the dates in place or who did what when," She shook her bangs out of her eyes as she spoke. " So, needless to say it takes a lot of studying for me to even pass the class at all." She said. Surprises seemed to be commonplace for Mariska now. First there was the train ride, and now she was actually enjoying herself again. She supposed it would be surprising when she had set out to be as miserable as possible, but now she wasn't so sure that was even a feat she could manage. She watched with an amused expression as Elizabeth and Asteira began a little bit of good-spirited arguing and competition, and she thought that she might just want to stay here for the rest of her schooling.

Most everyone? Not everyone? It sounded like someone had been mean to him..Maybe he had gotten in the food fight..Anyway, if Raiden wanted to talk about it, he would. If Meredith had something bad happening now, she would try to forget it..
She looked over to the prefect at the Slytherin table. She looked beautiful. Evangeline Green, she should try to rememer that. As it rhymed, and was a nice name, she didn't think she would forget it.
Of the other people mentioned, she only knew Barry.

Actually, all Meredith wanted to do after the feast was sleep, but this all seemed very exiting, exploring Hogwarts!
"Oh, Hogwarts wasn't open last year, was it? I heard something about a different girls and a boys school.." She liked the idea of searching for the dorms together. "Sure, we could look for our dorms together. That's short for dormitories, or the place where we sleep, right?"
There was library here! Of course there would be, with such a big school, but Meredith had never really thought about it..The library would have all kinds of wizard books..She already looked forward visiting it.
"I'm looking forward to going to the library a lot, I love reading! And the flying lessons.."
Cela was talking about her owl, and Meredith wondered were Arkarian was..They had told her to leave him and her other stuff in the train..
"Oh, is your owl a boy or a girl? I have an owl named Arkarian" she said. She'd pounderd quite a while about naming her owl, finally deciding to name him after one of he favourite fictious characters.

"I've never been able to produce a corporeal patronus, I will one day though. Have you seen whay yours is?"

Ebony smiled, widely "veritaserum." She nodded.

"Mine's a cat. Tabby I think. I saw it for a few seconds. Veritaserum's an interesting potion. Do you have a least favourite potion?" said Edie

Ebony chuckled "Its a complicted potion, but thats what makes it fun." Pushing her now empty bowl away from her, she fiddled with the hem of her sleeve. "I don't really have a least favourite, although there are a few sleeping draughts that don't smell to good."
