Magesta thought it over. I have no idea about flowers... She sighed and tried to think of what her Aunt did. "The flower needs to be in a good condition. The petals and stem undamaged. The smell needs to be complimentary with any other flowers being used as well as the color of the flower." She looked at the professor. At least I think....

Jillian raised her hand. "First, you should see if they're healthy, then look at the blooms, the shape and color of the petals, and at times, you should care about the size. When arranging flowers, the colors should blend in naturally with each other but that doesn't mean all the flowers must be in one color only. The flowers need to look beautiful individually and compliment each other when they are grouped together."

She smiled, satisfied with her answer.

Allie raised her hand again.
"Well, you should make sure non of the flowers are wilting, thats usually a sign that the flower is not healthy. You can tell by making sure non of the flowers are drooping, shriveled, or turning brown." answerd Allie. "I also think that you should look for flowers that are maybe unusual colors, when you arrange them, because it will really make you arrangment stand out."

Melina grinned as she got some points, raising her hand immediately once the professor asked yet another question. "I believe we should search for those with the most beautiful colours and try to pick the ones that suit our needs. I mean, if we're going to a wedding then we'll pick a certain kind of flower, if we're going to a party, then we'll choose another kind," She said. "Obviously, we always have to choose those that fit better with each other and we have to try to avoid the ones that are somehow damaged."

Amelia sat there stunned not really sure what to expect for Herbology. This wasn't entirely her favorite subject, but somehow with Erikson she always managed to make it through... like he knew her level. Listening to the other students, she jotted a few things down and then raised her hand at the next question. "Things you should look for in a flower are er... number of petals, how much sunlight it requires, how much water, ..."

We're gonna learn what? Steelsheen scowled. Ah great, I knew this day was too good to be true! she thought sulking. She raised her hand lazily and replied The petals and the bloom? The bigger the better? she guessed.

crystal thought for a moment, How about which type and colour of flower goes best together?

Astrid really didn't have a lot of experience with flowers but her mother had a lovely garden back home so she tried to draw off of that knowledge. She raised her hand and said, "Professor, I think that you would want to find a flower with healthy looking petals and a sturdy stem. Also the leaves of the flower should be a wonderful green color."

Ari leaned back and sneezed. Oh no she thought bending down to retrieve a small vial full of potion.If they were to work with flowers then she needed protection. Taking off the stopped, she dropped a drop into her mouth and shook her head, anger flooding her veins. She was a witch, a powerful one she might. "The colours are important are they not?" she asked, raising her hand in curiosity..

Tommy mouth dropped open. Flower arrangement!! For all the brooms in London! Are we muggle flower shoppe owners of witches, she thought angrily. She was not going to answer this question. She was so upset at this whole term she didn't know if she could contain herself much longer.

"Very good, everyone! Two points to each of you!" She smiled brightly. What bright students these girls were! She was certain the boys wouldn't understand at all.

She reached down as Jimmy brought her a cup of coffee. She took a sip of it before continuing. "Bigger isn't always better of course. But I'll give you one point for the rest. After all, who can resist the cuteness of babies' breath flowers?"

She smiled to the rest of them. "You will each have a pair of safety clippers, made so that it will cut the flowers but not you. Pick out some of the best flowers out of my collection. But remember to leave a few good blooms on the plant. Never ruin a plant for the sake of the arrangement. There's always good replacements. Put them into one of the pitchers of water. Then you will pick a vase and a packet. These packets contain powder that will turn the water into a colorful potion which will freeze the flowers' look as they are for about a week."

Allie picked some prety flowers, made sure they were all perfectly healthy, and started to arrange them.

Jillian smiled. Yes, two points! Not much, but it was helping keeping the Gryffindors up top.

She took another look at the packets. So that's what they were for! Some sort of charm to keep the flowers' beauty for a week! Her mother would love that for their garden, so long as Eadric, her frog, wouldn't mess up the flowers.

She took out her gloves from her knapsack and put them on. Then she took a safety clipper and approached the rows of flowers, carefully studying them and picking colors that would blend together. Earth tones were a safe pick.

Once she had got her safety clippers Crystal went over to the flowers and started to choose her flowers. Professor where abouts on the plant should we clip? Crystal asked not wanting to ruin the flowers

Korvis looked over at Crystal. "Keep the stem as long as possible. You can always trim it later, after all." She walked around, looking about, then it occurred to her she'd forgotten something. Well, after Jimmy followed her around a few minutes tugging on her and changing to different colors. "Oh! I almost forgot! Make sure that your colors work well together." She waved her wand and a color wheel appeared on the board. "Something about colors next to each other and across from each other. Either way, if in doubt, hold the flowers next to each other."

Amelia looked down at her desk to see that she did indeed have a pair of safety clippers. Looking up at the Professor, she listened to what the woman had to say carefully, especially since Herbology wasn't exactly her thing. Flowers? Should be easy enough...

Putting her gloves on, she stood up and approached the front row of flowers looking for a mixture that would make a good arrangement. Gulping, the seventh year raised the scissors and snipped off her first bloom... a lovely orange one, which nearly matched her hair. One down; four or so more to go...

Ah, flower arranging. Not quite what Hermy was expecting from a Herbology lesson, but she was sure there could have been far worse. Plus in theory she might have a chance of doing well, since she was planning to go into an art based career and had a good idea of how colours worked together. Okay, these were flowers, but surely it was no different to setting up a composition, getting the small details in the right places and leading the eye to the focal point.

She scanned the selection of flowers, and two main colours came to her attention. The first was an obvious choice, it was her favourite colour, and the second was yellow, for a certain somebody. Perhaps if she chose more orangey shades of yellow, she could combine the two, since blue and orange were complimentary colours. With that thought in her head, she went on a hunt for her main focus flower.

Okay Professor thank you. After looking at the colour wheel for a few moments Crissy decided on flowers that were between the colours Blue Violet and Violet Red. She the proceded to clips some of the prettiest flowers and went to an empty space to begin arraning them

Jillian looked around for something red. AH-HA! Roses! Perfect. Very classy. She trimmed three roses, making sure the stem was of good length and the petals were not wilted. Now something to contrast it's elegance.

Yellow daisies. Casual, and yet very fragrant. That balances out the roses, plus they make wonderful Gryffindor colors. She picked the ones with sturdy stems and snipped out three yellow daisies.

Okay, to contrast the fiery colors, we need something mellow...violet-colored. She walked around in search for dark-colored baby's breath.

Looking at teh color wheel, ALlie decided to make her arrangement bright, and use colors that reminded her of summer.Afterpicking one yellow, and some orange-yellow flowers carefully, she trimmed them and arranged them so that the orange-yellow flowers surrounded the yellow flower.
"Hmm, may this is just a lttile too bright." she thought.
She looked at teh color wheel again, and then carefully picked some of the darker orange flowers, trimmed them just right, and stuck them in with the orange-yellow flowers.
"Much better she thought."
She then picked a pretty vase, and put them in.

Ari sat there, glancing around as everyone around her began picking up the flowers. This was not going to be fun she thought as she got up and put her gloves on. Hopefully she wouldn't sneeze too much, knowing that her potion was doing its job. Picking up the scissors she looked around at the different color choices. Hmm not bad she thought, looking at a bright pink tulip type flower. Having no idea what it was called, she cut off a flower, making sure to keep a long stem and moved on to a light blueish colored rose. "Nice," she muttered, taking two of the roses and placing them with the pink one.

Yes she was different, yes she loved clashing color scheme yes she was going to add some orange and green if she found a green flower. Yes she loved being someone who no one else could be. With a firm grin on her face, she sneezed once more and went to work, searching for a certain color. "Professor, you wouldn't have any multi-colored flowers would you?" she asked, turning to look at her with a smile, remembering the blue/yellow one she had made previously.

Magesta looked down at the flowers and struggled to decide which ones she should choose. A slow smile spread across her face as she grabbed a few Yellow-Green, Red-Orange, and Blue flowers. She didn't really care if they were complimentary or not, they were symoblical for her best friend, her boyfriend, and her. She took the safety sissors and cut a few inches off the stems and set them in the pitcher of water in front of her.

Jillian finally found the right color of baby's breath she wanted and carefully snipped out the three that had the prettiest petals. Okay, so Jillian wasn't much of a girly girl, but flower arranging she didn't mind at all. More flowers attracts more bugs and frog! Coolness.

Now to lighten up the flower arrangement a bit. She needed yellow-orange flowers. She knew the perfect ones. Daffodills. She quickly spotted the daffodills as her mother grew them in their own garden. Most of the daffodills were too lightly-colored. She observed each one until she found three healthy-looking ones that were the right color.

She looked at the bunch of flowers she carried. Light contrasted the dark, classy contrasted the casual, they definitely complimented each other. The petals were perfect. Some of them had petals that spread while some had petals that were compact. Absolutely perfect!

She smiled to herself and put them in a pitcher of water and began arranging them, putting the flowers next to each other so that they looked balanced. She trimmed some of the stems to make sure they fit perfectly.

"This is nuts," Sheeta thought to herself, "I didn't mind one lesson on how to be a proper young lady but now three?"

*Sitting on a broom sideways was one thing (hard all be it) but now the girls were being forced to arrange flowers?! Sheeta would not play nice anymore. She put on her gloves and with clippers in hand, Sheeta went to look for a flower that didn't look to healthy. Finding it, she cut it off and then went to find more colorful ones to use in her "arrangement." *

She blinked a moment at Arianna. "Multicolored? No. Those are rather rare, aren't they? I mean, besides with..." She thought a while. "Oh my..."

Jimmy came up and tugged on her clothing... within its body it projected several types of irises, roses, and lilies that were multicolored.

"Oh yes! Those! I think there are a few, then. If you just look around."
