Trent Hirty's Hut Smoke gently piles out of the small chimney of the small bricked den. A couple of rabbits hop here and there and a fence blocks off the back garden of the hut from the rest of the grounds. There were just some places students shouldn't be. A lovely variety of flowers blossomed around the hut which just gave it that extra homely feeling. A man who is of a reasonable height with firey red hair lives within the hut. He had taken over from the previous groundskeepers and made the hut his home already. His door is always open for visitors and he has many stories he would love to tell you about his time at Hogwarts and his life after his school years. |
Erin had been wandering around the grounds, alone, for most of the afternoon. She was bored, but the girl didn't know what to do. She couldn't find anyone to talk to. Anyone interesting, that is. The Gryffindor spotted the Groundskeeper's home and decided to go on over. From what she'd heard, he was a nice man. Erin hoped that was true. After bouncing up the few steps to the door, Erin knocked. This would be good for her. Erin was a sixth year, and she hardly knew any of the staff. Honestly, she found them a bit intimidating. Maybe even frightening. Erin put a smile on her face; she'd have to get over the little fear. |
Trent woke up with a start when a knock on the door happened. It was a nice nap, but it was really time he was awake. He walked over to the door and opened it to his first visitor of the term, "Hi there, how can I help you Miss...?" |
Ameer walked around the grounds with his hands in his pockets, whistling tunelessly. He had nothing much to do and he remembered the groundskeeper Trent Hirty, who lived around here. He walked up to the hut and saw him talking to another girl. He walked up to the groundskeeper and said "Hello Mr.Hirty. Do you mind if I come in?" he asked politely. |

Smiling slightly, Erin began to talk. "Umm... help me?" she asked. Erin had forgotten that she was the one who'd knocked on his door. It was only natural for him to expect that she was there for a reason. "Ohhh," she said, now understanding the question. Erin smiled slightly. "I don't need anything. Just came to say hello." Quote:
The boy seemed rather polite, so Erin decided to let him off. This time. "Who are you?" she asked, her tone not overly friendly. |
Trent fluttered his eyes for a moment as if he had gone blind for a second and was trying to regain his sight. He gave a loud yawn and beckoned the two students inside, "Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water?" Trent asked kindly. |
Erin couldn't help but grin as the man yawned. It was loud and funny-sounding. When he offered her, as well as the suspcious boy, something to drink, Erin considered each option. The hot chocolate sounded good, but it was a bit too hot for that. "Water, please," Erin said, stepping inside. |
An owl swooped in and dropped a piece of parchment on the Professor's desk. Written on it in a loopy handwriting are the following words: Quote:

"Uh Ameer Krump. I'm a 5th year here." Ameer replied, nonplussed. He then turned to Mr. Hirty and said "Water for me too please Mr. Hirty" |
Trent waved his wand and three waters appeared before them on the table. An owl swooped into his hut and landed a letter on his lap, "Oh, wonder what it could be." He opened it and smiled. Blaylock give a tarot reading? this should be fun. " So what subjects are you both taking this year?" he asked, pocketing the letter. |
Ameer picked up the glass of water and took a sip. "I'm taking Muggle-Studies, Transfiguration, Charms, Care of Magical Creatures and Potions." he answered "And the homework just keeps piling up." |

Erin took a seat in one of the chair beside the table as her water appeared. "Thank you," she said politely before taking a sip. The water was cool and refreshing. Erin took another drink before setting the glass on the table again. "I'll definately be taking Muggle Studies, Astronomy, Transfiguration, Charms, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. And I haven't decided about Potions, Arithmancy, or Care of Magical Creatures. I don't want to have too much on my plate," she explained. |
"Nice variety of subjects you both have there," Trent assured them. "Do you both know what you want to aim towards becoming when you eventually leave this school?" he asked curiously to the two students. |
Erin really didn't mean to snort when Mr. Hirty asked the next question. But she did. For some people, the question would seem rather logical, not something to snort about at all. But it was different for Erin. She never decided anything in advance; she never had a future plan in mind when she did something. Erin was much too spontaneous sometimes. "Erm... no," she finally said. Erin assued her snort got the point across that she didn't have any idea in the slightest what she wanted to do, but the thought it would be polite to answer with an actual word. She scratched her nose. Erin didn't know what else she was supposed to say. Instead, she looked over to the boy, Ameer, obviously waiting for him to respond. |

"Oh dear, well if you need any help in picking careers I am more than happy to help, as will your Head of Houses," He smiled kindly. "This shall be my second year working at Hogwarts. I used to own a hotel in Glasgow before coming here to settle down a bit more," Trent waved his wand and refilled their now emptyinh cups with more water. |
"Oh thanks. But I suppose my career will depend on my O.W.L results." Ameer replied, taking a gulp of water "Glascow is such a nice place isn't it? Did you own a hotel for muggles or wizards?" |
"Yes, it is so gorgeous. The architecture and the castles... it is wonderful," Trent said dreamily thinking back to his times working there. "Well, it was a hotel for both muggles and wizards - we had special rooms for wizards that allowed them to do magic in privacy and that their room maids were witches or wizards as well." |
"Wow it must have been great there. So why did you decide to come to Hogwarts?" Ameer asked. |
"I needed some rest from the busy life of owning a hotel. It isn't as easy as it seems," Trent chuckled. "So, looking after the grounds of Hogwarts is a piece of cake, especially since there is two groundskeepers working on it." |
"Oh I'm sure it was very hectic. And Hogwarts is so relaxing." Ameer answered, twirling his finger around the glass of water "Mr. Hirty, why is the forbidden forest forbidden?". Ameer felt that he had asked a silly question but he had heard many rumors of what there was in the forest and he just had to confirm that. |
"Well, it is forbidden because of what lies inside the forest. You see there is a wide variety of magical and dangerous creatures and some do receide in our very own forest," Trent explained. "Maybe you should ask Professor Maline what sort of creatures you can find in the forest." |
Erin snapped out of her daze. She was still listening to the conversation, but she hadn't really been taking in anything that was said. She looked from Trent to Ameer, wondering if her silence had been noticed. She didn't thinkk so. She heard Forbidden Forest and nodded, as if she'd been listening the entire time. Erin took another sip out of her water glass. |
"Like werewolves? Or Centuars?" Ameer asked exitedly "We studied about them in Care of Magical Creatures but I've never seen them in real life. Have you read about them Erin?" |
Erin looked up from her water when she heard her name. She was being addressed. "Um, huh?" she said, without even thinking about what she was asked. "I mean, yes." Erin had heard the question, she was just so surprised that Ameer was asking her something that she wasn't thinking properly. "Centuars are very, er, interesting," Erin added. She was still slightly flabbergasted. |
