Divination 2 - Crystallomancy
 

Professor Blaylock sat at the front of the class, waiting for the students to file in and take a seat at each of the low round tables that surrounded the circular room in the tower. On each table sat 3 clear crystal balls, just waiting to be stared at by the students. She tapped her fingers on the table as she waited, wondering how today's lesson would go. It would be interesting, that was for sure...

OOC: Just settle in, do not chat. If I dissapear, it's only because my connection is shaky, so please dont spam my class asking where I am. Patience is very important with shaky connections...lol.

Atmor walked into the class this was her first one and she was wondering if the divination teacher was a loon like her father said she might be.She smiled to the teacher "Professor" ~doesnt look like a loon~ she took a seat around the 3rd table from Professor Blaylocks' table waiting

It was a bit of a prance that brought Jamie to Divination Class, much earlier than he usually made it. His hair sprung around in his eyes as he glanced around the empty room. No one yet arrived? He couldn't believe his luck. He got to pick the seat he wanted instead of getting stuck at a bad one.

Waving to the Professor, he took a seat, eyeing the crystal ball at the table. When he was littled, he'd had a plastic crystal ball that talked when you pressed a button. You asked it questions, pressed the button and it would give a form of a yes or no. He stopped playing with it when it verified that his mother, most certainly would die, you can bet on it.

As he waited for the students to appear, he leant forward and peered into the ball, poking and prodding at it. No fog. No voices. No swirls or images. Just a reflection of his abundant hair. Well then. Maybe this wouldn't be so easy.

Atmor smiled at the Ravenclaw that just arrieved he was playing with the crystal ball and steering in it

she sent him a note and turned around

Natasha smiled at the students who came in, it was a slow day and it was early yet, so she didnt mind that the class didnt immediately fill up. She watched the boy poking the crystal ball and fought back a giggle at the look on his face.

She caught the note passing and frowned slightly at the two students, "If you have anything at all to say, then please do so with your mouth. Note passing is almost as rude as whispering."

Atmor sat up as soon as she heard the teacher speak "I'm sorry professor" she blush and truned to the boy "Hi,I'm Atmor you are?" she smlied at him still blushing

Natasha nodded at the Slytherin to acknowledge her apology. She took a seat in one of the huge armchairs while waiting for the rest of the students to come in.

"We'll just wait til a few more students arrive before starting today's lesson."

OOC: I'm leaving this thread til a few more people come. But this means NO CHATTING.

Jamie gave a small wave and then drew his finger to his lips to signal "Shhhh."

"I'm Jamie," he said. "But the Professors don't like for us to talk a lot before class. They sometimes take points and Ravenclaw needs all the points we can get."

Atmor nodded to him and turned around to her crystal ball which had managed to become grey with red swirls ~cool~ Atmor started to stare at her crystal ball and pretend she was an enchantress some time she got a little nerdish and start to do stupid things

Touy wandered into the divination class with her nose in a book. Looking up just long enough to find a seat in a dark corner. I hope we do something fun today in class. I know class isn't made to be fun but once in awhile the professor do make class fun. Touy thought to herself.

Natasha choked on air when the newcomer addressed her as Mrs Blaylock. Sputtering she stood up and turned eyes glistening with tears of laughter at the young boy, "Oh dear, I'm not a Mrs Anything. Please, just address me as Professor Blaylock."

She leaned back against the table, taking a few deep breaths to calm herself. "Okay...I think you all know what we're going to be doing today. Anyone care to take a whack at it and tell me what is it we're learning?"

Nikki sat up in her seat and raised her hand. Professor, I believe that we will be learning the fine are of being able to see things with crystal balls. Crystal balls portend the future. If we can successfully acquire the stills necessary to be able to see into the crystal balls, we will be able to use them for making predictions. So we will be learning how to use crystal balls, the great importance of them and also what knowledge can be gained from crystal balls'

Emily raised her hand and said "We're going to learn how to use crystal balls, which is usually called Crystallomancy."

Natasha clapped her hands cheerfully and took a seat in the center of the circular room, "You are all correct. Today we will be learning the art of Crystallomancy, which is gazing into crystals...and yes, to tell the future. Although that does sound a bit far-fetched."

She picked up a crystal ball and squinted at it's murky depths, "I bet you are all wondering how on earth we can tell what will happen in our future just by staring into this thing...well, it's all in the mind. Can anyone tell me what we have to do to be able to see our future in this silly little ball?"

He listened to her talk about what they would be doing and took a few notes.
Ali had seen this in muggle places as a child, so raised his hand.

"Do you have to concentrate on the centre of the ball and wait for some kind of image to appear?"

Dis raised her hand when the professor asked the question. "First and foremost, Professor, doesn't a person need the working of the inner eye to see the future? If someone doesn't, they'd merely be looking into a crystal ball without any result. Or it could be like a form of tea leaf reading. Anyone can try and decipher the images within the crystal itself but really, only someone with true Sight will be able to utilize what they see and come up with a more accurate prediction."

Kerry prepared her parchment for notes about the days lesson as she listened to her friends answers regarding what they knew about crystal balls.
Kerry scribbled some notes on her classmates answers and then raised her hand to add her own thoughts.

"I believe you need an open mind to be able to see visions within the ball, too. Proper lighting and mood are also important for a good reading of the crystal ball. A quiet candle lit area free of distractions work best." Kerry timidly shared. Her answer was based on things she had heard about crystal balls, but she had never actually used one herself.

Erinelle rasied her hand and replied, she was probably wrong but it was just an idea, "Do you have to just...look at it, don't think of anything, don't focus, just...look with your heart and not with your head?" She asked almost, curious. Her mother had said her heart was more important, not your head...
