| | |  Of Mandrakes, Limpets, & Other Peculiar Creatures
Nemesis Upstead and Kinsay James have a friendship that not many understand. It was platonic love at first cling.
Stranger yet, is how this unlikely friendship withstood the tests of both distance and time. (And also, war, but just the one time). In fact, with so many Upsteads to choose from, and two other James children who were closer in age, it was a wonder that this duo came to being at all.
But, well, here they were.
Kinsay and Nemesis kept up with one another far past their tenure at Hogwarts, exchanging letters and dropping by for visits, now turned playdates. No different is today's adventure that brings them to the park, one with a playground suitable to toddlers.
This is intended to be a CLOSED RP featuring the following SSRPG characters:Nemesis Upstead & The Mandrakes™ played by Felixir

While Kinsay wasn't exactly dressed for a playground day, the playground was exactly where she found herself. She was early, which wasn't exactly a surprise. Or maybe it was. Kinsay James usually ran at least 10 minutes late to any function on a good day. It was only now that she had so little to do during the day that she found herself showing up to things early. Turns out, there is such a thing as too much time spent shopping.
Besides, the eager anticipation of seeing her friend and his children was so so exciting. Buzz worthy. Someone alert the presses!!! (Except don't actually, they were far too involved in her life and she hated it). Plus, now she just looked like a weird grown up hanging out at a children's playground by herself.
So weird.
Not wanting to look as pathetic as she felt, she walked over to the swings and sat down, kicking her legs forward and swinging her head back to start moving. She had always loved swinging. The weird, unsettled way it made her stomach feel, like it was doing somersaults. Nem would be here soon, she was certain.

Nemesis had been sure to make sure the Mandrakes - that is, the toddlers, who were not so much like mandrakes as they had been as infants, though the moniker still stuck - were each clad in at least one item of clothing gifted by Limpet. It was the obvious choice. Nem avoided dressing them absolutely identically if they could help it; they looked alike enough already with the blue eyes and blond locks, and those little faces like butter wouldn't melt. In fact, according to Jake, both looked uncannily like Nem and Pax had at the same age.
They were right on time, but saw that Kinsay had beat them here. Nem entered the playground with Mandrake #1 perched stoically as ever on their hip, while Mandrake #2 barrelled on ahead on those precarious toddler legs. They'd lost count of how many times Levi had face-planted the floor doing this, but it never deterred him from the aforementioned barrelling. Wishing to avoid nosebleeds and tears before they'd even got through the pleasantries, Nem stooped to grab Levi by the back of his dungarees before he could pelt too far ahead.
"Hey there, Limpet," they called to Kinsay, heading for the swings with a finger hooked inside Levi's hood and letting him lead the slow-charge towards her. Percy just watched, as he was so often inclined to do. "I have a delivery for you." The Mandrakes. Obviously.

It was a bit like apparition in the way it made her feel. Swinging, that is. She loved it. Seth Elliot had clocked her on the why while they were at Hogwarts, but still, the feeling had always stuck. She didn't enjoy apparating by herself (of course), but when she did find herself in need of a quick transport, it always left her dizzied and dazzled and--
!!!!
With an excited gasp, Kinsay James gracefully hopped off the swing and made her way over to one of her favorite trios of all time. "Hi, favorites!" Her smile only brightened when she noticed how the little ones were wearing items that she had gifted. It always left her so, so touched, did Nem know?
She wasted no time in crouching down to meet little Levi where he stood. "Lev, look at those legs on you!" He was a total natural at the walking fast, faces passed thing. "He's a runner, he's a track star, Nem!" She slowly stood up again, her whole body practically vibrating with the need for a hug, but he was holding a baby toddler and so, she practiced restraint.
But it was so good to see them. It really, really was. She had- It was just that- Things were just, like, really hard lately and she- She just. This basically turned her whole mood upside down and right-side up, y'know? Like. Does that make sense?
