August 2019 Krel Ansell ! The interviewer, Bazinga, is in this color
The interviewee, Krel Ansell, is in this color Hello, hello and welcome to a new edition of our Member of the Month. This month we are going to be interviewing Krel!! *claps and cheers with the audience* ::waves:: Hello. 'Tis a pleasure to be here. *settles everyone down* Hello Krel Ansell, how are you today? Please be seated. We are so excited to have you as our Member of the Month! You have been a member since 2003 so why don't we start off with you telling a bit about yourself.
'03? Ptff... well, that makes me feel old. 16 years is a long time...
So about me? Well, I'm 35. I live in a quaint little place called Wisconsin: the land of cheese and beer. I've played softball since I was 8 and began bowling when I was 4. On average, I read about a book a week. I love movies, adore the theatre, and enjoy traveling and camping. I am a huge Star Wars geek. I love making costumes and my husband and I dress up together every year for Halloween. You are a very busy person! My kids have two closet full of costumes, they would love being around you at Halloween. What is one of your favorite costumes you have worn? I think my favorite costume would have to be Robin Hood and Maid Marion. The first year my husband and I dressed up in them, he spent the evening jumping out of bushes with a toy bow and arrow in an attempt to steal candy from trick-or-treaters. Spoiler- he got a lot of laughs, but no candy. I also have a complete Gryffindor student costume that I wore to the Deathly Hallows book premier and usually find a reason to put on at least once a year. Okay, that is amazing! So Gryffindor, is that the house you see yourself in? It is. Every quiz I've ever taken has put me into Gryffindor and every house debate/discussion I've had with friends has placed me into Gryffindor. Well that is always good to know that you are a Gryffindor no matter what! What about your characters? Do you find that you play more Gryffindors or have you ventured with other houses? A lot of my characters are Gryffindors. Although the few I have that didn't attend Hogwarts, well I think they would likely have been sorted into Hufflepuff or Slytherin. I don't think I'm astute enough to genuinely play a Ravenclaw. I honestly think you would be brilliant! Let's talk about the RP world for a moment, what area is your favorite and why? I love the Ministry! Now, don't get me wrong. The school and DA are great, but there's just so much potential and things to explore when it comes to the Ministry. When it opened, I was super excited to start playing an adult and interact in and explore more mature issues. I find it fascinating to discover what drives grown characters. And I really enjoy playing a fully developed adult already set in there ways interacting with another adult who is set in their ways. It can make for some great drama or clashes. Yes, the ministry is a blast! What is your favorite ministry plot or even just RP that you have been involved in? I really enjoyed the Encephalons plot. It was so much fun seeing the messes everyone characters created and I enjoyed having my character torture Airey Flamsteed. Airey Flamsteed seems to get into so many predicaments. Is there any other part of site you do or is it mostly just RPing? It's mostly the RP's and news. Although I do have a graphics shop where I create personalized pixel wands. I actually have had a few of those done. *shows off the wand* Can we talk about that for a moment? Typically graphic shops are for avatars, siggys, and profiles, but you had this creative twist to make wands. How did you decide to do that and what inspires you with them? It was sort of an evolution. Not long after I joined SS, I began dolling. Dolling is where you find a base somewhere online, take it into a paint program, then draw and shade clothes on it. That led me into prop making for the dolls which are where you create an item - say a teacup - to be used with the doll. Eventually, I made some lightsaber handles for a friend which then turned into wand making for Harry Potter. Stormdancer asked me to make a few for her characters and then suggested I open an I shop. The inspiration for each wand comes from a lot of things from walking sticks and canes to curtain rods. I think I even based a few off swords or old knives and even a set of ornate chopsticks. I really try to craft a wand to fit the character that is going to use it. It's really a fun challenge for myself and something that's kinda fun to see included in a profile. I've created over 300 wands since I started and every one is unique. Wow, 300 wands? That is awesome. Do you have any that really stick out as your favorites that you have made? Out of the ones I've made for SS members, I really like these:
The Phoenix was quite a challenge and coincidentally my 300th design. I think I had to remake it 5 or 6 times before I was happy with the wings. Those are amazing! I am in awe of your talent. Have you always been into graphics or was this something that happened once you joined SS? I've always been crafty, but the pixeling definitely came out of my time on SS. Do you do other crafty things? What are some? I have made some jewelry, dabbled in shoe painting, scrapbooking and some other paper crafts. Last year I made my husband dinosaur bone stepping stones for his garden. I'd say my primary craft is crocheting. It's something I can do while watching a movie or listening to an audio book. Your talents are endless. *stares in awe* Have you ever posted anything in our craft area? I think you would do great in some of the challenges over there. I have not, but it sounds like something I should definitely check out! Yes, you should definitely check out the Couture Closet area! So we've talked about your crafts, but let's talk about some other likes. Are you more a book person or a movie person? Well, seeing as I have a degree in English Literature, I'd have to say books! I love movies too, but with the exception of the Three Musketeers, I have not seen a movie that was better than the book. What are your top three favorite books? To steal a line from the movie Ever After - "I could no sooner choose a favorite star in the heavens..."
But if I had to:
The High King - The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander
Son of A Witch by Gregory Maguire
Atonement by Ian McEwan Those sound amazing! *writes them all down* Now we have a thing here that you might have read. We like to do a little quick answer, do you mind? All you have to do is pick the one you like. Chocolate or Vanilla Vanilla Ice Cream or Brownies Ice Cream Pencil or Pen Pencil Winter or Summer Winter Soda or water Water Also, our last Member of the Month has a question for you, Are you who you thought you would be when you were little? Interesting question and one to which I have not given much thought! Yes? And No? I certainly didn’t grow up to be a signer/performer like I had dreamt of being, but I’m happy and I think that’s what little Krellie wanted most in life. Well to be happy and to be a Jedi Master. Now that Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has opened, I might be able to achieve that goal! Yes, you just might get to be soon! Now it is your turn, what would you like to ask the next Member of the Month? I've always been a fan of the question: If you could have a drink/dinner with anyone in history (dead or alive) who would it be and why? That is a really good question and a great way to end. Thank you so much for joining us and being our August member of the month! It's been fun! Thanks for having me. ::waves::

Great interview! I enjoyed reading it and noticed all of your choice responses were the opposite of mine. I found that interesting?
Are you taking requests for wands currently?

I'm screaming So…my husband (a Trekki btw) suggested we go as SW characters for Halloween this year! The moment he suggested it, I started working on my Jedi robes! Quote:

THREE HUNDRED WANDS!? Move over Ollivander xD that's fantastic. […] My friends and I went to a HP pop-up Pub a couple of months ago and were discussing the placement of one friend who insisted she isn’t a Slytherin, only because she didn’t want to “be evil.” My party went on a 30 minute tirade about how Slytherin isn’t evil and this is why it was her house. Others people not in our group at the pub piped up too defending the house. By the end the pub had her convinced that Slytherin was a great house. I think we had ever house represented at the outing too. And I think my exact count atm is 315. It’s interesting to see how the style developed over the years. I made my first one in 2010. Quote:
