| | | emjay's Star Wars Spaceship Now announcing the newest Member of the Week emjay!
Interviewer = Black, as usual!
Interviewee = Blue!
Hello folks! Grab your wands, your drinks, and a seat, because it's time for another Member of the Week interview! And now, welcome her to the stage! *cheers errupt* Heyyyy! *waves* I'm so excited to be here. Like winning the lottery. Well... not exactly, but you know. Sort of.
Well could you have this amazing audience if you did something as measly as winning the lottery? Haha! Can you introduce yourself to us? *thinks* No, you're right, this is better. Okay, so most people on SS call me MJ, mostly because it's easier to type than my full name I guess... Anyway, I'm a stay at home mom to two little boys, which gives me lots of time to play on SS. When they let me, that is.
TWO boys?? You live my dream! What are their names?: Yes, two and they're a handful... Jeramy and Brandon. It's very noisy at my house. Looks like I'm going to get suckered into playing with Legos during the interview. hehe
Oooh! Can you build me a house? More like a spaceship if that's okay. We got the Star Wars Legos out...
Oh SWEET! Star Wars is where it's at! Haha. So how long have you been a member of SS? Yeah we love Star Wars here. Um, I haven't been on quite a year yet. I think a few more weeks and it'll be a year. Sometime in June.
We'll have to throw a celebration for you And how did you come across the site? Yay! I love parties! I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was the almighty Google, just like it was for 97.8% of the members on the site. I believe I was searching out fan fiction, which was something I was really into at the time. I think I lurked around the site a little while and then had to register to leave a comment on someone's fic.
And then we sucked you in! Still into the FFs? Exactly! Still love the fics, but what really did it for me was the RPG. When I first came on the site I had absolutely no intention of RPing whatsoever. A friend of mine who became a member about the same time as me was talking about getting sorted right before we did. We were both excited about getting sorted, but when she mentioned RPing, I told her that I didn't think that was for me. She wanted to try it, so I did too right after the sorting and I quickly got addicted to it. Now it's my favorite!
Wow me too! When I first heard about it, I was just like ... "Ehh...." but it's a lot of fun, isn't it? Now do you prefer the Ministry, or the school? Because if I'm correct, you're a Division Head, right? Haha, yeah it is a lot more fun than I ever expected. And yes, I am a Division Head in the Dept of Mysteries, which I absolutely love by the way. Um, which do I prefer.... That's actually a tough question for me because I like both for different reasons. I think the school is much more active so there's more to do thereand you can pick and chose what you want to do. But at the same time I absolutely love the Ministry. It's just a different experience. Or maybe because my guy's in charge of his own Division. Haha. It's fun being the boss. And I adore my employees. (and my Department Head )
Bahaha And she adores you too! So what else do you do on the site? Any hidey holes we can sneak into to find you? I love the Fan Clubs here too. I'm an officer for a couple - The Graveyard and Luna. They're tons of fun and everyone should visit the FCs here. I also frequent WWW - which I believe used to be called Zonko's, right? That was before my time. Anyway, the games are super fun too. Sometimes I'll hang out at Borgin and Burkes and RP there, but I haven't had much time lately. So yeah, pretty much everywhere.
Oooh, I remember the days of Zonko's. I still call it that sometimes. It's hard to adjust to! Okay, you ready for the Harry Potter side of the interview? I figured that was coming.... okay, hit me.
*smacks you with a rubber duckie* Ouch! hehe. Not too hard ...
Bahahaha! Okay I'm sorry. No more beating up the interviewee. All right, so I'm going to ask you five questions at lightning speed. Answer with the first thing that comes to your mind! Ready? Oh I'm so nervous... okay, ready!
Chamber of Secrets or Prizoner of Azkaban? POA
Fred or George? George <3
Fudge Flies or the Chocolate Cockroaches? Uhh, chocolate cockroaches!
Ewww hahaha. Okay. A date with Lockhart or the chance to punch Umbridge? Haha, punch Umbridge hehe
Oooh. She'd give you detention! And finally, a pets question. Would you rather have an Acromantula or a Basilisk? Haha, I was no stranger to detention Oh, totally unfair question! I'm terrified of snakes so I'd have to pick Acromantula by default. Ugh.
Hahaha they're both classified as XXXXX. I think you'd be terrified either way! Yeah definitely. Acromantulas eat people, don't they? *cringe*
Haha true. At least with the basalisk, you'd just look and it'd be over. So back to the detention thing really fast - did you do a lot of time in there in high school? Haha. Not so much, but I did my time. Usually for lame things like breaking dress code or being late. I went to a strict school.
Hahaha you rebel you. Is there a character you think you relate the most to in the HP series? Haha, right. Hmmm, I never really thought about it that much. I guess I'd have to say Tonks. I don't think I'm quite as intellectual as Hermione, but Tonks was a bright girl - she'd have to be to become an Auror, I guess. And she seems like a creative person. I suppose I can be a bit clumsy too.
Tonks is really witty and funny, and yes, clumsy haha. I could see you two being sisters Do you like to change up your image like she does? Haha. Sisters... that would be pretty cool to have Tonks for a sister. Probably not to the extent that she does, but, yeah, I get bored and then I change certain things about my appearance.
If I could, I'd change my hair color everyday! What else do you do in your free time, besides legos and SS? I read. A lot. I also love art, I studied it in college, and I try to draw and paint as much as I can. I scrapbook too. And that's about all the free time I get with two little ones to chase after.
Oooh I didn't know you went to college! And to study ART! That's awesome. Yes, it was a fun degree to pursue. Unfortunately, I haven't actually worked in my field having gotten married and having two kids right after I graduated. But maybe one day...
I bet you got to try a lot of new thing with it. Art just sounds like such a fun passion to get to play in! Now did you have both of your boys at the same time? Yeah, I did. And I still try to do as much as I can even if it's just for myself. But goodness, no! They're a few years apart. I don't think I could handle twins. I'm sure that would take a lot of patience. My grandmother once said to me that when she had her first baby, she was disappointed that it wasn't twins. I merely smiled and nodded, all the while thinking she must be crazy. Of course, twins would be a blessing, but I'd much rather have them one at a time.
Oh man. I couldn't imagine two boys, the same age >.> It'd be so hectic all the time! What about music now? What would would we find if we snooped and looked on your playlist? I love music! My mp3 player is nearly permanently attatched to my head. My favorite band right now is Franz Ferdinand. I love them to pieces. And also my perennial favorite The Smiths. They're from the 80s and aren't together anymore, but I could never get tired of listening to them. But really, I have very eclectic taste in music. I could be listening to James Taylor and then the next song would be Metallica.
Oh wow, what a borad range of taste. I <3 Franz Ferdinand! Is there anything you don't like? Seriously? Not really. I'm not much of a country fan, but even in that genre I could probably pick out some songs that I like.
What about ... bluegrass? Could you shake it out to some banjo? Hahaha, not really, but I was on some really obscure music site searching out some Franz Ferdinand b-sides... and I came across some blugrass band that covered FF's entire first album. Some of it wasn't bad!
Bluegrass Franz Ferdinand? HAHA! You'll have to send that to me! all right, well our last Member of the Week Tina has a question for you. Did you get to read it yet? Yeah, it was pretty funny Oh right, I almost forgot. Um, refresh my memory... something about a blue moon...
Okay. she says you REALLY have to think about it! Here it is: "What’s something that’s so extraordinary and self-satisfying that its magic only works once every blue moon for you? Oh, and o’course why is it that of all things?" O.o haha I was thinking it was something else... Can you hold on one sec? I gotta put something on tv for my son, I'll be right back. And it'll give me time to think
Take your time. It's a toughie! Okay, that's a really tough question and I honestly can't think of anything that happens that infrequently... but when I have the time to get charcoal out and make contact with paper - which probably happens just as infrequently given the amount of free time I have - it's a pretty amazing feeling to be able to create something out of nothing, incredibly dirty, which just adds even more to the experience. It's that medium for me more than any other, I guess.
It actually sounds very relaxing. I'd love to see some of your work sometime. Do you have a spot on SS for it? Um, no I don't. I probably should.. I haven't done a whole lot of HP stuff. I did a couple for my charrie when she had to draw something for CoMC, and they're somewhere in the school RPG threads. I was working on a drawing for a piece of HP fan fiction on another site, but I haven't finished that yet. That's a Pansy/Draco piece, not my favorite ship, but it was a fantastic story.
You should make one! I would love to see some Harry Potter work from you. Now it's your turn! What's your question for the next Member of the Week? If you could trade places with any fictional character for one day, who would it be? And fictional character could be from a book, tv show, or movie.
Oooh great question. I can't wait to see the next mystery member answer it Just curious, who would YOU be? Not fair! I'm not prepared... Um.... *thinks* Princess Leia? She's plain amazing. Yes, we have a slight SW obsession here.
Hahah that's fantastic. We're Star Trek nerds here ... we should do movie marathons together!! *pulls out popcorn* Well it looks like we've covered everything! Anything you'd like to add before we wrap this up? Oh yes! Popcorn? Share? That was totally fun! Thanks! But I really should get back to my Legos and now a pirate ship has mysteriously appeared...
For sure! Thank you so much for letting me interview you. I had a fantastic time getting to know more about you Thanks so much for the interview, I really had fun chatting with you!
Make sure you check back in two weeks to catch the next MotW interview when it's up! |

Wow, MJ, I'm really happy to have learned more about you! I, too, hope you share some of the awesome artwork you've done here on SS some time in the future (I would love to see it!), and maybe you'll take up a thread in the craft area some time, too, that'd be awesome!
Congrats, again!
