The State of the Snitch

Hello fellow SnitchSeekers!

It's time for another lovely update from your Minister of Magic (or site manager but, that's not an HPish enough title for my liking). There's quite a bit going on here on the site so, I'm actually remembering to post this less than a couple months after my previous update.

First off, I apologize for my extremely cheesey title. Lissy said she thought it was funny so I used it but, I think she's as nuts as I am so, there ya go. For those who don't get it, it's a take off on "The State of the Union Address", the yearly report the American president gives to the American public.

Secondly, I'm actually going to start talking business now :gasp:

The new school term has started off without a hitch (at least OOC-wise :shifty:). The Opening Feast is currently running and the term will start soon. If you haven't started interacting in the school and you're sorted, get your rear over there. It's going to be a fun term!

There's a new game located over in Knockturn Alley for those of you interested in RPing. Each week a mod posts a challenge and you RP the situation out with the Host Mod of the Week. At the end of the week, the Host Mod judges the entries based on creativity, grammar, adherence to canon (when appropriate), and completion of the task within the set post limit. RPers of all abilities are welcome to participate. Just head on over to Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes and check it out. This week's Host Mod is yours truly, Biochemkris.

The new and improved Fan Club forum is up and running. The old forum will be deleted but, never fear! The old clubs aren't gone; they've been revamped along with the new forum. In addition to a brand spanking new forum for the FCs (as they are briefly, yet affectionately known), we've now got character FCs to go along with the expanded actors FCs. We've also got some brand spanking new public usergroups to go along with them. Check out the new forum for more details.

Note: I think maybe I should have done an update last week. There's so much going on; this is going to be one long post. My apologies.

We've played around with the word censorship and have decided to allow the use of the words git, hell, and damn within FanFics and Role Plays for the purpose of adhering to canon. Ron can now say, "Bloody hell" on SnitchSeeker. :lol: Any use of these words in a derragatory manner toward other members will not be tolerated and will still be grounds for a warning. In addition to this, it has come to my attention that there are a couple words that were formerly censored but that we took off the list a while back for obvious reasons: 'she pricked her finger' and 'Bob sniggered', for example. We took prick off the list completely and fixed it so that the word within the second word could be used if, and only if, it occurs within another word. Again, it is still inappropriate to use any words as cuss words on SnitchSeeker.com (see the SS Board Rules for details).

Last week you may have noticed the sideblocks disapparating and reapparating. The technical staff is currently trying to optimize site performance so some features (such as the side blocks) may become temporarily unavailable while they test stuff out. There's no need to be alarmed and they will post announcements when stuff like this happens. I advise you all to pay attention and read any announcements that have been posted before you start flooding our threads and inboxes with 'OMG! blah isn't working!!! Ahhhhh!!!', freak-out type posts, PMs and emails. :D If there is no announcement, please DO let us know about the problems you experience. (Database and SQL errors and the like are automatically emailed to us, like it says in the error message, so there is no need to email us about those, either).

And, last but most certainly not least, we've got quite a few new staff appointments. We'd like to welcome Karl (*Potter*) and Jade (AerynJade) back from the Ministry to the Administrator team. They've stepped up as Chat Manager and Aragog's Webbie Guide, respectively. We've also got a few new school staff members to ~~haze~~ greet: Hebecraft18 (Arithmancy), Meandering (Charms), Mrs. Weasley (Groundskeeper), and Ozzy (Assistant Groundskeeper). And finally, a hearty welcome to our new news mods: katiebell, Lupin Jr and wickedweasley.

I want to remind EVERYONE that use of the words we've pulled from the censor is to be restricted to areas where they are necessary for creativity purposes ONLY. Please stop using them in this thread (and others) just because you can. Abuse of the new leniency will only lead to the words being recensored.

I was honestly going to comment that it sounded like a spin-off, then you said it. It just made me laugh. I would much rather listen to The State of the Snitch then The State of the Union. Hee.

The school staff DO teach. Sorted members (which you are) can attend classes when school is in session.
