Hellllooooo SnitchSeekers!

A while ago, we polled you guys on what you wanted to do about 'tags'. The results were cut down the middle. Since then, we've tried our best to make both sides happy. (Please read the article if you have no idea what I'm talking about).

Now, we've come up with an even better way to please both parties (those that wish to keep tags random and those that wish to request tags). As most of you have probably noticed by now, mods, admins, and staff members have odd, tag-like things ABOVE their posts. What the...? Go check out posts from these folks if you haven't seen what I'm on about.

This is where we wish to move tags to. The area underneath the username will be now be used for Official User Titles only. Before you freak out, let me explain why.

1. Moving tags cleans up the Official titles. We're freeing up space and generally getting getting rid of all the messy abbreviations (as best we can). For example, no more 'DAVP' or 'KA mod' that may or may not even make sense -- so that we have enough space to put, 'I LOVE RPATZ' underneath it. We can expand your official titles and be a heck of a lot less confusing/cramped under the username.

2. The new way is basically a profile field (except that it totally just is a profile field) so that we can turn them to 'editable' whenever we want. For example, say next holiday season or big SS event, we can turn the profile fields/TAGS to 'editable by members' and YOU can edit your OWN tag --- thus APPEASING everyone ... eventually.

3. Moving them AWAY from the area underneath the username gives us more room for the actual tag. If you're the Keeper of Daniel's Pony, then by golly, in the new position your tag can say that! No more Ko DR Pony.

4. We're actually hoping the new tag positions will provide incentive to boost involvement around the site. Like, the Ministry RPG, or the Language forums, to the Fan Clubs.

Now, I know SSer's. I know you guys well and I know the masses hate change. And I know we all love tags. But before you come at us with pitchforks and start crying foul -- give this is a chance. Don't immediately hate it just because it's different. As always, give it a chance. If after some time has passed, many members hate the new tags, then we can talk about another compromise. Right now though, I'm asking you all to at least try the new way out before you decide you hate it. Don't suppose that is asking too much, hmmm?

Moving the tags from the current location to the new position in the Post Title position will have to be done by hand, by admins and it will take us a while. I wish I had a wand to do it magically (you'd think a site such as this would come with one, right?) and instantly - but I don't. So, bear with us and keep your knickers on, if you know what I mean.

Also note that from hence forth: Usertitles are the graphics/titles that appear below a username and Tags are those that appear above posts. Bit of techy terminology for you

Lastly, and probably most importantly, HUGE shout out to Kris for like, you know, putting this together for us on the tech side. She's the bestest and SnitchSeeker wouldn't be functioning without her.

Ooh!! Nifty... I was wondering what those tags thingies were!! This actually sounds really awesome... and nice way to separate the official from unofficial! Kudos to y'all for this!!!

First things first.

This is a shout-out to whichever mod just gave me a random, spifftabulously spiffy new tag ("Coocoo for Canna"). I felt like a four-year-old at Christmastime when I posted and BAM!---all of the sudden it was there.

It seriously made my day, so thank you. You rock, whoever you are. *ten thousand glomps and a high-five to go with it*

Now that that's done...

Touzzicals, I've already told you how much I adore this little change, but, well, I feel like telling you again.

I think it's a wonderful idea! Not only does it give us room for more unofficial tags, it allows the official tags to be more clear to members who, like you said, may not know what "Ko Touz's Beard" may mean.

Next...

How do you always manage to crack me up, even when you're posting something like this?

Oh.. ha ha. I was WONDERING what was up with those things.

I think it's brilliant guys. I luff you guys for all you do and your amazing noggins. It'll take some getting use to though. XD But I'm givin' it a chance!
