Somewhere between the doors leading to the Wampus and the Pukwudgie common rooms lies another door, leading to yet another of the strange quirks of the school. Namely, the Ilvermorny gymnasium, set up with all sorts of exercise equipment in one area, and the rest taken up by an expansive court used for basketball, volleyball, tennis, and just about every other indoor activity that it might be needed for. Not only that, but there’s a storage area for the balls, along with a small gymnastics training facility and weight-lifting equipment. Along with that, a climbing wall stretches up along one side. Ilvermorny wants you to stay healthy!

Her training started the minute she walked into school. With a new cheer for the cheer club going strong Madelyn wanted everything to go according to plan. The last term was a weird term for the club since they were doing it over at Hogwarts, but now they were back and sports were up again. Quodpot especially. The club could use their talents to bring spirit into the stadium. Cheers, posters, decorations in the common rooms. It was going to be an epic year.
Walking into the gym she set her bag down and went to the middle of the mat to start her stretches. She wondered if anyone else would be joining her and hoped they did, but it hadn't been an official practice, so she would practice alone if need be.

She had just went down into a split when she heard someone else coming in. Maybe it was Blakeny or Jeremy. Her eyes lifted to see someone else. "Hey" Getting out of the split she stood up and stretched a bit.
"I'm not really sure, it wasn't an official practice, but I told them I'd be here working, so maybe." Though they might all be too busy, so she wasn't sure or concerned. "What are you doing here?" Not that she cared if she was there, but Madelyn enjoyed company and didn't know if she was there to be part of cheer now or just here for her own things.

She had many things on her mind this year after the summer and she was glad to be alone with her thoughts. "I was actually surprised you weren't a professor. I feel like everywhere I turn there is one this term." There really wasn't, but she was being paranoid because of her parents.

Madelyn looked at her questioning. That was interesting, but not crazy. "Well you can join me if you like. I'm just going to work on tumbling and stretching. " Maybe company wouldn't be a bad thing.

Sam nodded. Cheerleading wasn't something she was majorly in to so when it came to how often they practiced or anything like that she had no real idea. "Sometimes being alone is nicer... you can do what you want to and not have to worry about anyone else." It had become somewhat common lately for herself to be alone. "Really? I haven't taken notice to any professors lately..." It could just be her though. In all honesty the fifth year had been in her own little world and outside of lessons hadn't been noticing much of anything unless it directly concerned her.

Moving down into another split she leaned forward to get a deeper stretch and listened as the other girl spoke. "Yes it is and you can work on your weak spots that you might not like to show others or maybe you are in a different place than the rest of your team." Madelyn knew she was a bit more advanced than some being that she had cheered since she was six.
"Well I've noticed them, plus you haven't probably had a parent at the school showing them healer notes and things." Her summer injury had been something that gave red flags to the staff to keep an eye on her.
"You aren't bothering me one bit. There is no reason we can't both be in here working together." She really didn't mind and it brought some socializing while she did. Getting up she moved onto the floor a bit more. "I'm going to do a running backhand spring back tuck" She wanted to make sure that the other girl didn't walk in front of her before she did it.

The older girl made a good point on that. "That's true. I might not be on a team but I do play sports and things for fun, mainly with my siblings." She always liked to have playful competitions with Jeremy. "It's nice being able to work on things in the comfort of my own mind and space without anyone questioning me." Like the daily runs she had gotten into taking or the extra walks she'd be going on around the grounds or even just around the corridors most days.
Healer notes? Ah, there might be something the two of them had in common sort of. Samara wasn't going to bring up her own Healer notes or her parents having been at the school. "Oh? Are you alright?"
"Thanks," she smiled softly taking a few steps backwards to give Madelyn some extra space while she herself did a few simple stretches. "Go ahead. I won't move into your way at all." She wouldn't be silly and step into the girls way where either or both of them could end up hurt.

It's Valentine's Day and the entire castle is decorated for the occasion, but students have been aware of the festivities that were going to be placed around the castle. Love and fun is in the air so come join the professors and enjoy this lovely evening.
Valentine's Dodge Ball:
Not all of Valentine's Day has to be about food, dancing, and love. No, in this room you will find balls in the center and to sides for teams. As you come in you will have a number show up in front of you, 1 you go to the right and 2 you go to the left. This will be your team for the game. When the whistle blows you can take off to grab a ball and try to throw at the other team, but be careful these balls aren't just regular no-maj balls. No these balls have been charmed and if they hit you, you will fall into a fit of laughter as you feel like someone is tickling you. The charm won't last long but you are out if the ball does hit until the next round.

Now THIS was right up her alley!
All the mushy, lovey-dovey Valentine's stuff? Completely boring and uninteresting to this 13-year-old Wampus girl. But a dodgeball game? Brilliant, awesome, exciting, all kinds of greatness.
Lucy was so excited about this part of the festivities that she headed for it immediately. Not surprising that she'd be the first one here. More of the students would show up soon, she was certain. How could anyone pass up a fun game of dodgeball?
A "1" appeared before her as she walked in, so she moved to the right side of the gym. Of course she'd be on Team 1 - because her team was going to BE Number 1! YEAH. Winning team, right here!
She was so pumped that she figured she should start stretching, get herself warmed up, and burn off a bit of her energy until more people arrived.

Jabre had taken some food from the dining hall and quickly checked in the craft area, but really Jabre wasn't going to be doing the art, so he headed for the next area. This area was what he was wanting to get to, but he didn't want to seem rude.
Heading into the gym he looked around and grinned, this was going to be fun. Seeing the number "2" come up he moved to the area with the twos. Giving his teammates a wave he looked across to the others. This was going to be fun!
Getting set in the line he focused on one of the balls. Now all they needed was the whistle.

Hunter had not discovered his love for tennis {the regular one, not table tennis} until his second year of Ilvermorny. Since then, he could be found in the gymnasium with one of his friends or relatives for recreational fun. The fourth year did not like to boast but he was getting even better at it as time progressed.
This Saturday morning was his first in the gym this week as things had gotten rather busy for him in terms of homework and his other duties to clubs like Debate Team, Quiz Bowl & Strategy Games, Student Newspaper and Yearbook. Aside from his limited sporting time, Hunter was feeling extremely guilty about abandoning Zion. Luckily for him, his cousin and best friend was rather understanding.
"You awake, Z?" H joked doing a jog on the spot to loosen his leg muscles. The tennis balls in his tennis shorts pockets bounced against his thighs as he did so. "Let me know when you're ready."

It was known that Zion preferred other sports, and surely within a day or two, Hunter would be happy to return the favour by playing football or something Z liked. Maybe they would have multiple football sessions, or maybe many basketball games. However much Z wanted! Because H was feeling quite guilty about rarely having the time to hang out with the bestie. It also dawned on him that he needed to better manage his time.
Z’s comment had him snorting. “Clearly,’’ he said, playing right along. “That’s exactly how you snore when you sleep so I believe you.” Now laughing, Hunter ceased jogging. He retrieved a ball from his pocket and began bouncing it against the ground with his racquet. “This game is sure to wake you right up.”

That was exactly how it always worked. It was something Hunter was grateful for, even if he had never told Zion about it. Heck, there were many things he should have told Zion but he never seemed to be able to. Instead, Hunter had simply channelled his gratitude into being protective of Z and being there for him. “Yeah, but not for the past week,’’ his brain reminded him nastily. Hunter pushed the thought away quickly by reminding himself he was here now. The weekend was fully open to the duo to have all the sports moments possible! “How would you know?” H asked slyly. “You’re out completely when the snoring's happening so…” He grinned wickedly. Someday when he caught the other guy snoring, he’d be sure to record it then Z would never doubt him again.
Now that they both were ready to get the game started, H bounced the ball a couple more times before grabbing it with his free hand. “Okay, brace yourself!” The ball was tossed into the air and as gravity pulled it back towards the court, the racquet reached out to whack it over the net that divided the court in half towards Zion.

Nothing needed to be said. Zi got it. Naturally being quieter in nature he understood how sometimes things were easier left unsaid. He was also very aware of the fact that Hunter tended to be more protective of him at times than some of their other family members.. and that was okay. There was no denying that he tended to need it most on some occasions. "Because I'm the quiet one. If anyone snores, it's you," he commented cheekily. Game on, Hunt, game on. Challenge accepted. Not that he had even been challenged yet but they were heading that way.
"If I brace myself too much we won't have much of a game," Zi joked. As the ball sailed over the net, the fifteen year old easily moved towards it and swung the racket hitting the ball back over the net towards Hunter.

Whether it was Z who understood him best, or whether Z understood everyone around him, Hunter was just relieved that Z could be like that always. H couldn’t help it: he loved Z and he often worried that Z’s shyness and quiet demeanour could mean that the loud and more outgoing people run the other guy over. There was no way H would let that happen. Ever. Those words made Hunter gasp in mock surprise at the sheer cheek. “How dare you, Zion!’’ Then there was laughter. “Just you wait, I’ll prove it that I never snore!’’
Oh man!
The adoptive cousin was on a roll today, wasn’t he? “You’re extra sassy today,’’ Hunt observed. Not that he minded; this sass put him at ease and just made him want to keep laughing. Unfortunately, he had to concentrate on the game for now. As he did with everything else, that focus came easily to him. His eyes easily stayed fixated on the ball except for that time when Z hit it back to him. That was when H took the time to study Zion’s stance and power level which he used on the racquet and ball. H ran backwards, catching the ball with his own racquet and let it sail smartly over the net.

Zion would quietly say that he did not understand everyone the way that he understood Hunter and a few others in his life. That was a good thing to be worried about when one was as quiet and shy as Zi was, and yes at times he did get lost in the shadows because of it but truthfully it never bothered him. He did know how and when to really speak up when it was important, not that he liked to do so but he could do it if he had to.. so that was important. "How dare I what?" The young man laughed along with his cousin and best friend. "Are you saying that I'm not quiet?" A hand was waved in the other boys direction. "Sure, sure. You have fun with that." He was sure he wasn't the one who snored.
Yep! This guy had his moments and today happened to be one of the days he wanted to have some fun. "Gotta make sure you're awake." Just in case HE chose to fall asleep while playing. They didn't need any injuries now. See? Z was looking out for him. All of his joking aside, the fourth year was paying attention to how easy H made it all look as he ran backwards and hit the ball back towards him with ease. There really wasn't any time for him to do much else but follow the ball and run off to the side of his court and swing the racquet to send the ball back over the net.
If the start of the game meant anything at all, this should be a good game today

All of his joking aside, the fourth year was paying attention to how easy H made it all look as he ran backwards and hit the ball back towards him with ease. There really wasn't any time for him to do much else but follow the ball and run off to the side of his court and swing the racquet to send the ball back over the net.
If the start of the game meant anything at all, this should be a good game today
Yes, Zion always one hundred percent understood him. Maybe this was why the other guy never got annoyed whenever Hunt was always lurking there, ready to be the protective one. Hmm… maybe he needed to cut Zi some slack lest he suffocate him with his constant presence. He trusted and knew that Z could defend himself when needed but Hunter could not help it; he just didn’t want to see anyone walk all over Z. “How dare you suggest I’m the snorer when it’s you who’s the snorer!” H was still laughing though. It really felt great to be so relaxed after the week he had. “Okay, brace yourself to be proved wrong.” Hunt was determined to go through with his little scheme.
A lively game like this was sure to keep him from falling asleep! Z need not worry; but thank you, bestie, for looking out for him. Z thought he made it look easy? Yeah right! If anyone who made sports - and art - look easy it was the adoptive cousin. Hunter admired Zion very much from these few reasons. See the way the other boy easily sent the ball back at him? It was done in such an elegant manner. Meanwhile, Hunter, expected the ball to come his way in one direction so he started inching towards that side. The ball ended up heading in the opposite direction leading him to hurriedly run there. The result was that he barely caught the ball with his racquet. There was barely enough force in his hit for the ball to clear the net and back at Zion.
Definitely! This was going to be a really good game.

Maybe. Or maybe Zi was used to it. There could also be the fact that he liked having Hunter around. He also knew why H was protective of him and the reasoning didn't really bother him any because he knew it had nothing at all to do with his past. Zion had long since outgrown most of that trauma and was living his best life now. There was nothing for him to fear anymore. "I don't need to suggest what's fact." This was stated very calmer and with the most innocent grin. "We'll see which of us is wrong and it's definitely not me." Poor Hunter was going to be so sad when he realized that he was the snorer of the two of them.
Neither of them would be falling asleep anytime soon! Oh, come on! H has to have a little more faith in his sports playing abilities because yes he did make tennis look easy. At least in Zion's eyes. He had only made that last hit look easy because he hadn't been too far from the ball. Unlike now, when the ball came just barely over the net and Z had to run across his court to it. Sure he did manage to hit it back over the net again but he wasn't even sure where it has gone as he was busy backing up away from the net now.
They each had their strengths and weaknesses when it came to sports and this was why they were decently matched when playing together. Zi always enjoyed spending this time with Hunter.

And that past played a huge part as to why Hunter was so protective. He didn’t want Zion to have to relive that sort of thing. He liked to think that since his aunt and uncle had adopted Zi, the adoptive cousin’s life had been a lot better. It’s moments like these that Hunter lived for: these moments where the other guy was being super cheeky and making him laugh. “We’ll see,’’ he remarked, but not at all giving into Z’s accusations about being the snorer. There would be time to prove his innocence!
His bestie really needed to have more faith in himself. Hunt might be partial about whom he hung out with often, or whom he asked to partner up with in sports and there were reasons why he usually chose Zi. It was not just because they were close but because Zi always put up a challenge, much like he was doing now.
This time, Hunt was ready for the ball and was able to sprint towards it. However, the whack he gave it was not enough to get it over the net. The ball collided with it instead and fell to the court. “Points for Zion!” But since their games were usually friendly, they didn’t keep track of their points. Hunt grabbed the ball. “You ready?” he called, walking backwards to the edge of his side of the court and wiping sweat from his brow with his sleeve.
That they did. And the feeling was mutual. H didn’t feel as guilty about being super busy during the week now. He was slowly righting that wrong.

Only six years old at the time? It seemed much longer to Hunter; it seemed that they had known each other from the time they were born. But yes, it had been a while now and it was clear that the entire family had accepted the siblings as their own. Well, they were, and in particular, Zion was his. Hunt wasn’t being possessive; he just meant it in the manner that Zi was his best friend, the person whom he was closest with.
Psssh. Zion was a worthy opponent, even for friendly matches and Hunter enjoyed all their matches whether it be tennis or some other sport or activity. “Thanks!’’ he said grinning, brimming with energy and good vibes. This was all he needed after his busy week. “Here goes.” Tossing the ball up in the air once more, the guy whacked it over the next in Z’s direction as it came down. He followed it with his gaze before it lingered on Z briefly.
