| | | Music Classroom Upon entering this large classroom, it is very obvious what its purpose is. This room is dedicated to teaching Muggle and Wizard Music and is used by members of both the Frog Choir and Orchestra. Instrument cases of all shapes and sizes as well as rows of music stands with accompanying stools fill the inside of this room. In the front, a conductor's stand is positioned in between a polished black piano and a complete drum set.
For many at Hogwarts, students and adults alike, this is one of their favourite places inside the castle. At various hours throughout the day, wonderful music is made and you get to take a break from anything overly theoretical and hone your musical talents. Fortunately for those in Transfiguration or in other parts of the castle, your marvelous melodies cannot disturb them for the room is completely soundproof. So play as loud as you want! This space can also be reserved after scheduled class hours if you and your friends have formed a band and need somewhere appropriate to practice.

Even with the acoustic, he was still learning. But once that was mastered, Logan was certain the others would be a breeze. But, for now, acoustic was his favorite guitar, and he found himself agreeing with Vera's thoughts about the instrument. "Definitely. Nothing overly fancy about the acoustic guitar. It's ... simple, but very effective."
A few nods of his head were given when asked if he had heard his mother's music before. "Mum showed us a few of her memories, and then they did a couple of recordings that we listen to every now and then. They were pretty popular during my mum's Hogwarts days. They played a few gigs and whatnot, though she didn't continue with them after because of her magizoology studies." While she enjoyed music, caring for creatures and a few years later her family became more of a priority.
When she pointed out that his humility was improving, one of his brows rose. He dramatically rolled his eyes and retorted with a "Improving? Puh-lease. I'm the most humble person you know." Teasing aside, it wasn't an incorrect observation that he was getting better at the being humble thing. Perhaps he was maturing a little after all.
The response given to the revelation of his song-writing dabbling was reassuring and encouraging. It wasn't something very many people knew about. In fact, besides maybe those who overheard him randomly playing, no one could have pinpointed him playing an original. So, that made Vera the first to experience a proper performance of something he had been working on. "Since this summer? Maybe a bit before that? It really just started as messing around with different chords and stuff, and then ... well ... here we are." She chuckled and gave a small shrug, “Guess you’ll have to actually keep in contact with me post graduation so I can ask then.” It was a weird thought and she nearly regretted making the joke, because when she and Vasco too weren’t living under the same roof would the entire group still see each other? Would they if she ended up on not even the same continent as the rest of them? These were all things much better ignored until she was 19 and a freshman at university, when it was actually necessary. “Simplicity is nice.” For as overbearing as a personality type as she was, she liked things fairly simple. It was why citrus was her favorite scent - it was simple and straightforward and natural. Florals might have been natural too, but they were SO much.
Hady and Frankie Paton had to be the coolest adults. Naturally she thought Papa was up there too and she’d have to admit Raju too considering he was… well, the Raju Misra, but Mr. and Mrs. Paton had always been so approachable and subtle in how awesome they were. “That’s awesome you can still hear it though too and experience it. It makes sense though that Magiczoology took over. There are so many creatures, I imagine it’s like… super intense to have to learn everything about all of them.” Which is perhaps why even though that’s heavily where she was leaning now career wise, though she hadn’t given up her love of Gobstones yet either, she planned to specialize with reptiles both magic and mundane.
The eye roll, which was so professional it was like her level, made Vera giggle. “Right, of course. My mistake. How could I have not noticed.” She teased in response, refraining from adding her own eye roll to the mix.
She would have been honored to know she was the first to get to hear a Logan Paton original. Well, actually, she was pretty touched in general he had shared this part of himself with her. “That’s awesome! Do you write lyrics too or just the chords so far?” Though asking if he wrote lyrics and to hear those seemed infinitely more personal. She wouldn’t really blame him regardless if he just said no, even if he did.

Another chuckle sounded at the comment made about him needing to keep in touch with her post-graduation. Internally, there were fleeting thoughts about what could unfold in the future. But those what-ifs were swiftly cast aside. He did, however, like the idea of still being in contact with Vera after Hogwarts. He liked that a lot, actually. "Sounds like such a burden," he teased, sticking out his tongue at her. As for the 'simplicity is nice' phrase, he nodded in agreement. He was a big fan of several things that were anything but complicated.
"Yeah. It is pretty cool. It's like attending a concert when we all revisit those memories," Logan replied before adding, "But seeing her and dad being our age is weird." It was such a strange, foreign concept that their parental figures had been kids once too. Mum was always magizoologist mum, and Dad was always the dark wizard catcher. It was mind-blowing seeing them be anything else. "For a normal person, it probably is intense. But Mum has a big brain and knows everything. Dad always said she was the brightest in their year by a landslide."
Those eye rolls, Vera Thanatos style, could be done in his sleep with no effort at all at this point. He grinned at her giggle, and that expression remained when she made her own eye roll. Classic. "Makes me wonder what all you have noticed about me," the blonde pondered, the sentence sliding out of his mouth in true Gryffindor fashion: it was done before the thought was even fully processed in his mind.
Vera's words continued to keep that smile on his face. "The chords are pretty much set, might need a little tweaking here and there. Lyrics are a work in progress." In fact, there were a few verses he had strung together over the past few weeks when his face wasn't buried in a textbook, but those weren't polished at all, and, well, they were quite personal indeed.

In fact, there were a few verses he had strung together over the past few weeks when his face wasn't buried in a textbook, but those weren't polished at all, and, well, they were quite personal indeed. While she didn't put much thought into what if's for the future and what things would really look like, there were people she just assumed would forever be constant. Even if she and Logan hadn't figured out their friendship, obviously Vasco was a common thread that wasn't going away for either of them. Which honestly, was a bit of a relief. "Heavy is the crown." She replied teasing as well, her friendship itself obviously being honor she referenced.
She hadn't considered how Hady's memories themselves would be like a concert. But considering some of the memories were probably literally that, it made sense to her now. At the comment of his parents, she laughed softly, before nodding at the idea. She hadn't experienced that, but she could imagine it. "Was your Dad totally a groupie?" She asked instead. Growing up with a single parent, the Paton's had been the prime example for her of what being in love looked like, particularly in adulthood. And they both certainly seemed to be very much so. "I believe that." Considering she showcased just how deep her intelligence ran now in attempting to share it with the current students. Though the use of 'attempt' was simply a criticism on herself and her peers and naturally not Professor Paton. "What was your Dad like in school?"
At his question, she thought about ignoring it and simply giving a shrug, but at the same time he HAD just played her a song so she figured she could show a hint of vulnerability as well. "Hmm. Well, to name a few, when you're not being annoying you have a really good sense of humor and I certainly laugh a lot around you and your sense of adventure and overall optimistic attitude makes it pretty fun to hang out with you." She could have mentioned his smile and his eyes too, but that was a little more telling than she wanted to be for the moment. And maybe a bit superficial too, even if it was true. "Writing lyrics seems like it would be something super difficult. Do you not find it hard?" If it was a work in progress, she assumed there was some difficulty but.. even being able to start somewhere was impressive to her. She considered asking if he'd share any of what he was working on, but she decided against it - mainly because as she saw the clock behind him she realized staying here any longer would risk running late to dinner and then Astronomy later. A soft sigh escaped her, as she turned on the bench again to carefully close the piano lid. A project for another day she supposed. " You going down to dinner?"

A soft sigh escaped her, as she turned on the bench again to carefully close the piano lid. A project for another day she supposed. "You going down to dinner?" Heavy is the crown indeed. Logan casually rolled his eyes and let out a few chuckles. "Well, if I must, then it's a crown I will have to bear." Not that he minded really, and he honestly didn't think such a thing would be too difficult to do considering Vasco was the original commonality between the two of them.
"I'm not sure about Dad being a groupie," he informed Vera with a chuckle. "But he was all eyes and ears for Mum." That much had been crystal clear in the memories he had seen in the pensieve, and, honestly, he was still the same way now after all of those years. Arguably he was not as wild, considering his position in the Ministry. "Well, he was a Gryffindor like us, so I'm sure you can imagine the shenanigans he would have gotten up to. Though, from what I hear, Mum kept him grounded and out of trouble." Beyond that, he couldn't say for sure since he didn't know much beyond just a few stories, which were probably the tamer ones anyway.
He was prepared to share some of the stories involving good ol' Frankie Paton, though his focus had completely shifted over to the list of things Vera was divulging. He rolled his eyes at the 'when you're not being annoying' bit, but found himself dumbfounded by everything else that had been said. He, quite truthfully, hadn't expected such praise. Collecting himself, he then reached out a hand and gently placed it on her forehead. "Who are you, and what have you done with Vera Thanatos?" There was a brief pause before he added, "But thanks. I, uhh, I would have to say I enjoy the same things about you." There were, of course, other things he had noticed as well, but he'd be keeping those to himself.
When it came to writing lyrics, he honestly couldn't say he had much experience with it. This was his first go at it. "It can be," he shrugged, recalling that starting off, picking the right words and trying to align them properly with music, hadn't been a walk in the park. "But it isn't as bad when you have the right muse."
Speaking of, his eyes watched as Vera closed the piano lid. He wondered what had made her do such a thing, but the word 'dinner' was all he needed to hear to understand why. "Wouldn't miss it for the world," he told her genuinely as he stood up and walked across the room to return the guitar to its original spot. He then went over to the door and opened it, though, like a gentleman, held it open for Vera to depart the room first.

He then went over to the door and opened it, though, like a gentleman, held it open for Vera to depart the room first. The information about his parents didn't surprise her, "That's sweet." She remarked, though she saved her from saying too much further since she didn't imagine gushing over his parents love story was a favored past time. "Makes sense you would have gotten your mischief from somewhere." She replied with a soft laugh, considering they both knew it wasn't Hadleigh Paton. "Your mum was a Slytherin, right?" She never could quite remember, considering she still tended to associate the woman with Gryffindor as their previous Head of House. "I wonder how much of our bucket list your parents would have gotten up to." She said curiously, not really looking for an answer but just something that struck her.
She smiled at the eyeroll, which had been her intention in slipping in the words. She couldn't be JUST nice, could she? Not without making it far too serious or risking him losing the bit of humility he had garnered in their time in the music room. After a beat when she had finished talking, he reached out and she eyed his hand with a raised eyebrow before laughing as she batted it away. "Sometimes I can be nice and say nice things about you." She stated, another soft giggle. She took the compliment as it was, offering a smile in return and a nod of her head in acknowledgement. "Thanks to you too. I'm glad the sentiments are returned."
The right muse? Her head tilted a bit and she considered asking what exactly that meant or if he'd found his. She wasn't super familiar with most musical or artistry related terms, but from what she HAD heard of the term, wasn't that usually a person? She decided she wasn't certain she'd want to know the answer if it was, so instead of a follow up she just simply nodded. "A subject would make things easier, wouldn't it?"
She laughed at the sincerity in his response, a fond shake of her head as she put her books away in her bag too and slung it over her shoulder, before following him towards the door. She smiled her thanks as he opened it for her, walking through it first before pausing to wait for him too right outside. "Maybe some other time when we don't have impending lessons you could show me how to play something?" She knew he'd given an example and showed his own skills, but she was interested in learning as well. And while she knew a few musically inclined people that she was sure would be willing to help, it wasn't hard for her to know which one she'd rather be in the presence of.

And while she knew a few musically inclined people that she was sure would be willing to help, it wasn't hard for her to know which one she'd rather be in the presence of. A little shrug was given in response to the remark about his parents being sweet. Their love story was something he could personally live without; other aspects of their youth, such as their Hogwarts days, were a different matter. "Yeah, she was a Slytherin. Makes sense since that's where my sisters wound up." As for their list and what his parents would have accomplished: "Probably wouldn't have gotten very far with it. They were Prefects and later Head Boy and Head Girl, did Animagus training together, and were involved in a heap of extracurriculars. But Dad did turn one of the sofas in the common room into a sheep once." Fun fact.
Was that a slight moment of hesitation before she decided to bat his hand away? Whether or not there was, Logan was of the opinion that there was. Not that it was anything worth mentioning since she had giggled again and found himself focusing on that instead. He chuckled, "Not sure if you know, but all days that end in Y are great days to say nice things about me." Joking aside, he did add a quick "Same" following the detail about returned sentiments.
He could tell the gears in Vera's mind were turning now that the muse comment had been said. Yes, there was a muse. The blond was a bit relieved that she hadn't asked who his muse was, mainly because he didn't want to outright say it was someone with brunette hair and hazel eyes, and there was no way he could think of something random off the top of his head that would be believable enough. "Yeah, it does make it easier," he said simply.
The laugh from Vera made yet another smile appear on his face. He was seconds away from making a comment something along the lines of being deeply committed to food, though the request derailed the thought train. Not that he was going to complain about that at all. The smile on his face remained as they departed the music room. "Of course. It'd be my pleasure."
