Your inspiration images are simply perfect because they help to create such breathtaking pieces :butshy: I like the cream; it looks really great :3

Particularly fond of the 'disappear' piece because fog is scary yet a remarkable sight. Yep, totally been there with thick fog and not being able to see clearly! Looking at it makes me feel as though I'm looking out at an ocean and all its vastness.

Suziella 10-24-2022 11:35 PM

I just...gaaaaah I love you and you amazingly beautiful watercolors. I just can't get over how gorgeous they are. And the images you use for inspiration just tie everything together so fantasitcally. I LOVE IT ALL SO MUCH! :whaa: :loved: :glomp:

Chelliephone 10-25-2022 02:09 AM

I really like the pieces where you add the details over the soft watercolors. Idk what it is about it but it is just so aesthetically pleasing. Like the artwork over loyalty and the contrast of the deeper ink lines with the soft water colors is just *Chefs kiss* I'm obsessed with it. It's definitely one of my favorites!

I also really really like the way the colors in Tea and Brave all play together. It's beautiful!

sweetpinkpixie 10-25-2022 09:44 AM

Wow. I don't know what it is exactly about your 'parchment' piece bit I am completely mesmerized by it. from the blending to the flecks of color to the inking that reminds me of some mythical entity from Final Fantasy...it's just so delicate and pretty and GOSH. I really enjoy these colors in combination. Like..a LOT/

It is really fun watching you explore shapes and enjoying the result. The lines/blocks in 'disappear' is a really interesting interpretation and kind of reminds me of the lines of those clouds in your reference photo as they ~disappear~

can't believe October is already almost over and there will not be MORE of these to look forward to

*will buy more paper for you, mmhmm*

Mwah. Thank you! Finding the inspiration images is sometimes harder than pulling out the colors and making the doodles. Not sometimes... every single time!

I think ink and watercolor is one of my favorite mixed mediums, and it's been fun to explore using them together in ways other than what I"m used to doing. I'm glad you have some favorites here - I think the colors in Tea are some of my favorites as well!

I think it's... the... blue and orange contrast so nicely? I don't know, but I think those colors turned out really interesting too. I'm trying to execute this cool random-not-random line thing I've seen before, and it's not quite there but is DEFINITELY interesting and contrasts with the colors underneath.

October IS almost over and I WILL finish with 30 palettes. Fingers crossed!

Day 21 - Sherbet Lemon

https://i.postimg.cc/bwFJFyRW/sherbet.jpg

I like how these colors have a sort of retro candy store vibe, which is in line with the prompt for sure! I wish that cream showed up a little better in the doodle, because I think it sort of settles the whole palette down and keeps it from being too much... Apparently cream is the new gray now that I've figured out how to make it.

Cassirin 10-26-2022 12:47 AM

Day 22 - Scarlet

https://i.postimg.cc/0NMNTTWQ/scarlet.jpg

This bird is the Scarlet Ibis, soooo it fits the prompt. I always think of scarlet as being like crimson, but the internets thinks it is much more orangey-pink than I want it to be.

Cassirin 10-26-2022 12:56 AM

Day 23 - Potted Plant

https://i.postimg.cc/XvRv4smg/pot.jpg

That's not cream. That's the color of unstained blond wood. Definitely not the same as cream.

Cassirin 10-26-2022 01:01 AM

Day 24 - Cold

https://i.postimg.cc/cLJCmgff/cold.jpg

I feel like the coldest cold color, to me, is that ice blue shade found inside icebergs. Someone once told me that it's one of the only colors in nature you can't capture with paint (although this blue is pretty close), but I suppose what she really meant was that you can't quite capture the transparency of the color, blue trapped inside of blue trapped inside of blue with light shining through it. And that is totally a true assessment.

sweetpinkpixie 10-26-2022 09:45 AM

YES, YOU WILL FINISH AND EVERYTHING WILL CONTINUE TO BE GLORIOUS :whaa:

'Sherbet Lemon' is so cheerful :butshy: I really like these colors and how you kind of took the little napkin cloth thing there and made it your own.

'Scarlet' is so nice...its kind of giving me reflection off the surface of the water beneath the scarlet ibis? Little ripples around the legs in the water.

Uuuuuuuuuuh I love the brush strokes on 'potted plant'. The blades of grass and stems are just so interesting and the different pressure and color intensity on the petals is so elegant. #vivalacream

Your concept for 'cold' is so nice and calming and this idea of color trapped within another color is so mesmerizing. I really enjoy these 'DNA' strand like doodles you do with ink too and the placement of all those little bubbles :delicious:

#vivalacream, indeed. I think I'm off cream and back in my gray period, sadly, but neutrals are required to keep these palettes from feeling overwhelming. I like how you believe my doodles have so much more intention than they do. Felix made me stop accusing myself of cheating, and I guess you're going to force me to say that I have any idea what I'm doing when I start out doing it.

Day 25 - Raspberry

Day 26 - Orchideous

Day 27 - Earmuff

https://i.postimg.cc/1XZ0QWRx/earmuff.jpg

I think this one is another of my favorites. I'm very pleased with how that indigo turned out, and the tan/camel shade with the bright red and indigo really hit me in my 'fall academia' aesthetic.

FearlessLeader19 10-29-2022 12:30 PM

Yaaas, another dump of pretties! And you're almost done, Ern! :woot:

Immediately sticking out to me is Potted Plant! I just adore the colours. Also adoring earmuffs, raspberry and cold :loved:

sweetpinkpixie 10-29-2022 03:14 PM

YOU MAKE PRETTY THINGS, OKAY?

Okay.

Orchideous is gorgeous. I really like the detailing and thin lines on your inking and that flower is just so pretty and UGH the use of negative space...like how the color does not all quite reach the lines and creates highlights in just the right places.

The ~infinity rings~ with your 'raspberry' prompt are so nice and I really enjoy the texture you added with your ink work. It's just really fun and playful.

'earmuffs' is fun and those colors are so nice and the brush strokes give me a feeling of the knitting itself. I'd but some yarn that looks like that, for SURE.

emjay 10-30-2022 02:06 AM

Oh my gosh you have so much stuff in here since the last time I commented. And you're almost done with just three more! I continue to enjoy all of the palettes that include grey especially. What is it about grey that is just so lovely and works so well with other colors? I really like the doodly concentric circles in Patience and I especially like the flower in Orchideous. The colors in Raspberry are so delicious! I mean, they are really vibrant but remind me of something really good to eat. Have you ever had the Dove bars that are raspberry sherbet and covered in chocolate? So, so good.. makes me think of that. All of your colors are really vibrant though. I enjoy your watercolors so much.

Felixir 10-30-2022 01:34 PM

Look! I came back! and I'm here to say all the things about all the things~

your parchment prompt is wicked mesmerising, I really do like that effect with the blendy-then-splattery colours, and there's just a certain something about the line art too *-* (also kudos on mixing colours to get the one you wanted (or close to it). colour mixing/matching is so hard.

you disappear piece is so... perfect honestly, and I love the thinking that got you there, and the gradient is :delicious: and I am highkey in love with the palette for sherbet lemon as well. and now i want sherbe(r)t lemons. or to run amok in a sweet shop.

that birb is RED. like a supercharged flamingo. and you know how I said one of your art pieces looks like biology? I'm getting geology vibes from scarlet. on to potted plant and I feel like I should let you know that I kept misreading blond wood as blood wound. so. the flowers are beeeautiful, that's such a nice effect, where it's not overly defined and is (I think) all paint, no ink. I love.

so also I think one of my fave things about your cold prompt is that for your palette as well as the cold blue you brought in the ~warmer~ colour from the sky, but that all together and especially in the doodle it's still coooold. (also biology again). I do enjoy those colour clouds, and I also love that part on the left side with the deep blue *licks it*

raspberry is very fun, so much energy in those colourful little shapes and patterns. and you know I always love your plant/flower paintings (which is still so strange to me bc I am generally not about that plant life but it's different when it's aRT). and and and finally (for now) (because I will return) I am all sparkly eyes over the earmuffs palette, the boldness and the contrast, the whole thing is very aesthetically pleasing. I love looking at what you can do with watercolours.

you're on the home stretch :pea:

BanaBatGirl 11-01-2022 11:06 PM

I LOVE the sherbet lemon one. UGH. The best. My favorite colors all together.

also, you absolutely NAILED the disappear prompt... whoa.

the copper color in the tea one and ALL the colors in the loyalty.... no notes. Perfect.

WHY ARE WE YELLING.

I'm glad you like the orchid/orchid-like flower. The splashy doodles (tm) are fun because they're not meant to be realistic in shading or perspective, but I also get in my own head about them not having correct shading and perspective... you know? Anyway.

I like those raspberry rings (although if I had even a BIT of patience, I would have waited for them to dry and gotten those lines a bit closer) and the earmuff colors ARE some of my faves even still.

Hey-lo! I AM ALMOST DONE. I did include gray in some of these final ones, although I promise you that they aren't all straight off the palette Payne's Grey. There's a purple gray and a blue gray...

that raspberry one now DEFINITELY makes me think of an ice cream treat, now that you mention it. I'm so glad you like the watercolors and that I kept you entertained this month <3

Felix with the novel, THANK GOODNESS. I'm actually not great at color matching, but I'm working on it. The lighting doesn't help on these, because my camera phone sort of washes everything out, so it's hard to tell (for you and for me both) how close I"m getting, but I think you can get the idea enough that it's been a good time for all.

I think it's interesting that a 'cold' palette needs warmth and a warm palette needs cooler tones to make it work. You need highlights and lowlights, vibrant shades and subtle. It's kind of interesting how that works out, yes yes.

Here's my last stretch, OKAY?

You WOULD love the sherbet lemon, you candy baby. I really like the colors in 'tea' and 'loyalty' too, actually. I'm not surprised that blue and orangey shades look nice together, but the colors in loyalty are a very pleasant surprise for me.

<3 Please send notes.

Day 28 - Avis

https://i.postimg.cc/CKyZktWW/avis.jpg

I love this little round bird. I love his bright belly and his indigo coloring and his ATTITUDE in this picture. Maybe the colors don't speak to all birds for you, but for THIS LITTLE JERK, absolutely. I love him. I have no regrets.

BanaBatGirl 11-02-2022 12:31 AM

I can't, as there are no notes. :whaa: speaking of color matching, tho, I assume you've seen the absurdly good tiktoks of people matching colors/blending paints?

they're not nearly as good as YOU though  sweet lil birdie

Cassirin 11-02-2022 12:31 AM

Day 29 - Bitter

https://i.postimg.cc/q78NLwrg/bitter.jpg

Bitter. Coffee. I have no regrets.

You sneaky little potato! Where did you come from???

I've seen those videos and they knock my socks right off! It's so amazing (and soothing) to watch! And they are 8 times better than me.

Thank you for saying hello to birb.

Day 30 - Ethereal

https://i.postimg.cc/3RYdbGr1/ethereal.jpg

Pinterest says this is ethereal, and I do love the flower color and the sort of fairy cottage look to it. Plus I wanted a chance to show you my absolute favorite color to mix. This is Alizarin crimson and orange, which makes a really gorgeous coral color that makes me SO HAPPY. A nice note to end on, I suppose <3

THANK YOU FOR VISITING WITH ME THIS MONTH.

sweetpinkpixie 11-02-2022 02:32 PM

Have I ever told you how good your feathers are? Your feathers are so nice and I love their placement in your Avis piece. You have SUCH an eye for how to use space and balancing your designs and I am truly in awe with the composition here.

Bitter is so soft :butshy: looks like some SWEET coffee to ME

You know me...I am an absolute SUCKER for your flower pieces and this is so lovely. You have good taste in your favorite color mixy mix because that is stunning. I love it and it does feel like the perfect note to end on. YOU are ethereal, Ern :loved:

Suziella 11-03-2022 08:05 AM

Congratulations Ern!! Everything you have created has been so beautiful. I have thoroughly enjoyed every piece. Wonderful job lovely :glomp:

Felixir 11-05-2022 01:10 AM

I do love writing novels, almost as much as I like looking at Ern art. And learning that Erns also have difficulty with colour matching (we're all in this together *clap*)

ANYWAYS, congratulaaaaations on finishing the thing! I have words aplenty for the final stretch. that bird, by the way, is the most adorable, most angriest, most attitudinal avian sprout I have ever seen and I love him. and so vibrant. your doodle for avis captures his vibe so well, heheheh. ugh. has it been long enough since I last said I love the way you get these watercolours working together on the page. because I do.

and and and bitter has me thinking of trees, but also the way the colours blend into each other in that piece is so *-* yk? just. *-*.

I love that you finished with flowers ;; that's a beautiful technique and effect with the paints and and and coral is such a pretty colour tbh. perfect note to end on. I have greatly enjoyed all your arts.

emjay 11-05-2022 01:20 AM

Omg that bird is so cute and sassy. I really love the doodle that goes along with it - the feathers and little splotchy spots. So good! The colors are so nice in bitter and I love a flower doodle like the one in ethereal. Congrats on finishing! Such lovely work!
