Obliviator Headquarters A lovely oak desk is near the door, and your eyes immediately fall on the giant nameplate reading: http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/v...issylou/21.png The job of the Obliviators is to modify the memory of any Muggle who has witnessed an act of magic. When on the field, the Obliviators work together to come up with memories to implant in the minds of Muggles through the use of the Obliviating Spell. This spell should only be used by Obliviators according to the Ministry. |
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q.../Ivan_ID_3.png ID Card Made By Hawken Terrell A disheveled Ivan meandered in to work, threadbare satchel slung over his shoulder. First one in. That was the way it should be if one is the boss. Or so he'd said to the Ministry official in the atrium. In reality, this early arrival was just because Ivan hadn't been to bed yet - a few after-work drinks had turned into darts, which had turned into a visit to a club... So here it was, 5 in the morning and Ivan was back at work. Tossing the satchel on the floor next to a stack of books by his desk, Ivan slumped into his creaky chair. He straightened his tie and closed his wrinkled robes. There was a dart hole in the sleeve. Darn that Jenkins and his lousy aim. Ivan groused to himself. He'd have to buy new robes. Again. From within his top drawer, Ivan pulled out a cup of cold coffee. He flicked some mold off the top layer and drank. Guess I could get the Myers Station report done. From under a large stack of folders, Ivan drew a sheaf of crinkled forms. He mended his quill, perused the top sheet and got to work. His staff wouldn't be arriving for another few hours. Maybe, if he was lucky, someone would bring in some fresh coffee. Or, better, a sewing kit. |
Mona poked her head into the Obliviator Headquarters before heading to her office. "Morning, Ian," she called out softly, her voice still soft because of the unholy hour. "Not so good of a morning? You look frightful!" |
"Ivan," he corrected automatically, looking up from the ink-smeared report. He blinked, catching the edge of a robe as it disappeared out the door. Who was that? Another remembrall glowed red in the basket on his desk. There were about six in there at present and only one non-glowing one was left. Ivan sighed. What was he forgetting? |
Katya performed a clumsy pirouette as she entered the empty office, dropping her decoy papers on her desk, she danced on towards the boss' office. Poking her head through the doorway, she found her new boss staring intently at a remembrall. She pondered the wisdom of interrupting him for all of 2 seconds, "Morning, Mr Callooous!" |
Jason walked into the Headquarters. He was afraid he had been late, so he had woke up a few hours ahead of the usual time. Knowing himself, he couldn't go back to sleep, so he had decided to rearrange all of his books that were in his house. Again. His eyes looked around to see not that many had come in, but he didn't mind. He usually liked the quiet. And by quiet he means no Katya or Dae. But his hopes for quiet was ruined once he saw Katya's body out of Mr. Callistus' office. That mad woman! Moving towards Katya, he grabbed her arm and pulled her head out of the office. He then stuck his head inside and smiled at his boss. "Good Morning, sir." Was all he said before sticking his head out and looking down at Katya. "What... are you doing?" |
"Heeeeey!" One second she was about to compliment Callous on his stylish robes, and the next she was whisked out into the main office by one incredibly annoying (although she liked him, he did tend to ruin her fun) nerd. "Maybe you should wipe your glasses, Killin," she teased, "if you can't even see that I'm merely saying hello to Mr. Callous!" |
"It's Callistus, Le Blaireau." Jason told her, taking off his glasses and cleaning them off with his robes as she told him. "And do you know that you're hazardous to that man? It's better off he's sitting alone there." "Now you should be doing your work. And we're Dae? Don't tell me she's shopping again?" he groaned. How can he be friends with these two women?! |
Spluttering at being called hazardous, Katya felt the childish urge to grab his spectacles and chuck them into the Boss-man's office, but she merely hmmphed and folded her arms. "Shows what you know," tilting her nose upwards as she walked back to her desk, she continued in a slightly snooty tone, "the shops aren't even open yet!" |
Placing back his glasses, he pushed them up and gave Katya a smiled who seemed to be hmmphing over something. "You do know you're dangerous, don't you?" he teased as he walked behind her, since his desk was located next to hers. "Oh please. I bet that Dae is waiting for them to open. God knows what she's going to buy next." Jason said, taking a seat. |
Katya pretended to ignore him as she shuffled papers around on her desk. After she'd moved a a garden gnome (one of the muggle ornaments, not the potato-like creature) from the left to the right and back to the left again, she finally deigned to grace Jason with her response. "For all you know she could be stuck somewhere in mortal peril!" She pointed an accusing finger at him, "How would THAT make you feel hmmm? Knowing you were teasing her!" |
"Mortal peril?" Jason chuckled, cleaning up his desk. "Oh please. Her only mortal peril would be that she can't decide which color to chose," he laughed, opening his desk drawer and cleaning it next. A few moments later, he pulled out a piece of paper doodled on. Raising his brow, he turned his gaze back at Katya. "How many times have I told you to not touch my papers?" |
Dan had come from his office because it was quit there so he entered the Obliviators department "Well good morning my office isn`t busy so I popped round how you guys doing today?" |
At the sight of the rather familiar piece of paper, Katya's cheeks turned pink and she smiled sheepishly at her nerdy colleague. Before she could offer an explanation, however, a stranger strolled into their space and she pounced on the opportunity he presented. Jumping up off her chair, she leaned halfway across the desk to point a finger at the newcomer, "AHA! How do you know it wasn't him who doodled on your papers?" |
Sighing, he messaged his temple and pushed the closer to her and said. "I know it was you because no one would write 'Oche+Katya= LUUUVVV' except you." Jason told her, crunching up the paper and throwing it in the trash bin. "Dan." He said with a nod, acknowledging his fellow department worker. Going back to Katya, he merely shook his head and said, "You'll never leave me and my work in peace, will you?" |
Sinking back in her chair with a slightly hurt frown, Katya drew one of the boring folders towards her and shrugged a shoulder at his question. "Maybe I would, if you didn't seek me out all the time." Licking the pad of her index finger, she flipped through the papers to look for something she was supposed to be doing. |
Jason looked up with a confused look. Seek her out? What was that supposed to mean? He didn't like her. Well he did, but only as a friend...err college. Scratching the top of his head, he tried to figure out what had she meant. But seeing as he couldn't get it, he spoke up. "Seek you out? What do you mean by that?" |
Looking over her shoulder at Jason, she raised a brow and gave him a significant look. "That's exactly what I mean." she said cryptically before turning back to her folder, just flipping randomly now. Merlin's underpants, this was dreadfully dull work... When were they going to go out and blow up some muggles - errr... erase some memories? |
"Why would I have done it. One I would have never come into your department without asking. Katya do you want me to turn into a lion and eat you" said Dan a little offenced at the fact they thought he did it. |
"Oh that made no sense, Katya!" Jason complained, giving her a puppy pout. "How am I seeking you out?! If you mean by looking out for you then fine, yes I do look out for you only for your best interest. You know well enough that if I wasn't here you would've been fired eons ago." After that, he turned back to his desk and started to work on whatever he needed to work on. Darn Katya. |
Katya had been trying to be all serious, but Dan's remark had her staring at him for all for five seconds before she burst out laughing. Gripping her sides, she had to hide her face in the crook of her elbow to muffle the giggles. "T-turn *gaaaasp* lion *wheeeze* and *gasp* and *choke* eat me?!" the words were gasped and wheezed out as she tried to control the mirth that had resulted from such an outrageous proclamation. |
"You don`t think I can`t do it ok I will" said Dan and he trans formed into a lion and growled at her. |
Jason stared down at Katya while she laughed and shook his head with disappointment. She always took things as a joke. That will be the death of her one day. As he went back to his work, a growl startled him. Turning his head back to Katya, he saw a lion growling at her. You have to be joking. Quickly, he took out his wand and pointed it at the lion "Petrificus Totalus!" he said, making the lion petrified. Sighing, he flicked his wand once more turning the lion into a little kitty cat. "See what you've done?!" |
Katya leaned across her desk to look down at the kitty and looked up at Jason with a puzzled expression, "I... made a kitten?" Turning back to the transfigured lion/person, she wagged a finger at it/him, "tsk tsk, you know that's against Ministry rules, don't you?" |
Dan turned back into a person "Yes I do you just made me angry" said Dan who was about to go when he decided to watch and see how it went. |
"Dan, go back to your office. If our boss see's you here I don't know what'll happen." Jason said with annoyance. All this happening in the morning. Why oh why does this happen to him? He should transfer Departments so he would get out of this chaos. "Katya, sit down and do your work." He said while sitting down and going back to his own work. |
"Very well bye see you guys later" said Dan and he headed to his office. |
"Geeeezo," Katya muttered under her breath as she settled into her seat again. Propping her chin up with her hand as she flipped through her folder with a blank expression on her face, she wondered when Dae would arrive so they could sneak off for coffee and croissants. She wanted to complain about how Jason kept bossing her around. He was starting to sound like one of her brothers, and they'd only been working together for a week! Oche did that too sometimes... Katya smiled to herself at the thought. |
"No lions or casting spells on co-workers in the cooridors, people." Ivan said, head still down and pouring over papers. He liked his people. He really did. They were just...a handful. "Hallo Katya, Jason, anybody bring any coffee or pastries? Or a sewing kit?" Never hurts to ask. |
Katya was glad of the distraction and jumped off her seat eagerly, "Do you want coffee, sir? I'll be glad to get you a cup from the cafe." She wasn't being a brown nose or anything, it was just that she was eager to stretch her legs and talk to other people for a bit. Work was B-O-R-I-N-G! |
"Nah," Ivan replied with disappointment. He'd always thought all women had sewing kits on them. What a shame to be wrong. "Probably some coffee in the breakroom." He stood up, stretched and yawned. "I'll go." He moved around his desk, tripped over a stack of books on the floor, and managed to catch himself on the desk. Katya was the newest member of the team. "Would you mind delivering this report?" Ivan handed the ink-smudged sheafs of parchment to her. "Thanks!" And with that, Ivan ambled on past her to find some coffee. |
"Not at all," Looking down at the messy parchment, Katya crinkled her nose and held it away from her new robes. She could hardly make out the handwriting due to all the ink spots and wondered for a second if Callous needed someone to hit him on the head so he could get a good night's sleep. "Er, wait, who am I supposed to deliver this to?" she asked, skipping after the Boss-man. |
Quote:
Once he had mentioned a sewing kit, Jason couldn't help but blush a little. "I--" he started as he opened his drawer and took out a small box. "I have one, sir. Do you need any help sewing something up?" |
Distracted by the fact that Jason had a sewing kit on his person, Katya didn't realize that Callous had gone before he could answer her question. Pointing at her sometimes-friend, she said in a monotone, "You're weird." |
Hanging his head, he nodded his head and said. "I know I am." But quickly recovering from that, he raised his head up and beamed like a child. "BUT! There's always work to cheer me up!" And with that, he quickly went back to his job. |
Shaking her head at his strange self, Katya gave up on trying to find the human underneath the nerd and meandered off in search of someone who would know who she was supposed to deliver these papers to. |
Ivan returned after his visit to the breakroom (and a medi-wizard), face ashen, holding his stomach. "Don't," he gasped out, wagging a finger in warning at the members of his team sitting in the office, "eat anything you can't identify in the breakroom....BURP." He covered the belch with his hands. "'Scuse me." Ivan staggered to his desk and slumped on his chair. "Some prat left evidence that looked like raisins in...BURP...a bag. Just anybody could've eaten it." And that 'just anybody' had. "They were Leachapillers. Very dangerous." Ivan cursed the unknown evidence-dropper under his breath and lay back in the chair, holding his stomach, head tilted backwards. His adam's apple jiggled up and down. "I don't feel so good...BURP..." |
She had entered the Ministry building in such a rush, Kim Dae Sun had knocked down a couple of new employees on her way inside. Luckily for her, none of the guards stopped her for trampling innocent bystanders. Entering the Obliviator Headquarters, short legs working quickly inside her gray pencil skirt, which she kept partially hidden by the silk navy colored wizard robes she had placed on top of her red silk blouse. Dropping her large and furry (and growling?) purse on her desk, along with two paper pink bags and a small white plastic bag, Dae Sun sighed dramatically, puffing and huffing obnoxiously. "I'm late! I know I'm late!" She began, raising one hand in Jason's direction, not bothering to look at him as her free hand rummaged through the plastic bag. "I'm very sorry but you have no idea the trouble I went through to get here!" Pulling out a small white box she placed it on her desk along with several cups of coffee. Once done that, her hands found their place on her hips, pushing her robes aside. "First off, this morning my alarm didn't go off and I was luuucky enough that my bladder let me know it was time to wake up or I would have missed the Early Bird sale at Chanel's. So I had to put this tra-shy outfit together," she whined gesturing at her chest and black pumps wildly. "And apparate eee-mediately!" Another wild hand gesture escaped her, as it was prone to happen. "In the closest dark ally, run down the sidewalk in my pumps," went on the short woman sweeping the air before her with her arm to demonstrate the speed she had reached earlier that morning. "And once I got there I fought through a savage crowd of misers who were trying to buy the items I was wanting for centuries!" Finished, Dae Sun in a squeaky voice, shaking her head ferociously. It was only after she took deep breaths for several moments that she calmed down and gestured at the goodies on her desk. "I felt so bad that I was going to be late I just had to stop by the bakery to get puff pastries and coffee." Spotting at her last, the man in charge, Kim Dae Sun laughed nervously. "Good morning," she greeted in a sing song voice, completed with half a wave of her hand. Placing her fingertips against each others, she curtsied slightly before asking: "This isn't coming off my paycheck is it?" |
Madeline peered inside the office before smiling and walking into Headquarters. She missed this place...she really did. It felt like ages since she had stepped inside the office but really it had only been a few days tops. "Good morning Ivan. Kayta, Kim, Jason," she added, nodded at each of the employees in turn. "Everything running smoothly in here?" she asked. |
Ivan tried very hard to swallow the burp that was just aching to get out. "Uh..urp...hullo, Madeline," Ivan sat up straight, polite smile on his face. He hoped she wasn't here for another surprise inspection of the files. They never passed those. After all, wasn't it a little ridiculous to expect people who's business was erasing memories to be good at recording their memories of the incidents? Not that Ivan let his team get away with that excuse - they still had to complete their reports. Of course, it could also be assignment time. He loved when they got assignments - gave everyone something to do besides writing reports on the last assignment. Ivan stood up. Was his tie straight? He fiddled self-consciously with it. "We're all good. Everyone's good, right everyone? How are you? Are you good? Do you have an assignment for us?" Ivan asked eagerly. He held out his empty coffee mug. "Want some coffee? Oh..uh, Kim brought some in." Ivan hid his empty mug behind his back and nodded in Kim's direction. Merlin, he was babbling in front of his staff and his boss. Memo to self - no more all-nighters on a work day. |
"I smell coffee!" Katya exclaimed, still clutching the documents Callous had told her to deliver (but not whom to) as she walked in through the door. If anyone asked, she had been trying to figure out the intended recipient of these sorry scraps of parchment. Grinning at the head of the Department, she wiggled the fingers of one hand to wave at her even as she propped herself up on Dae's desk. Dropping the papers, she hunted around in the bag til she found a cup of mocha latte (extra chocolate, less coffee). "I bet you're just here for the coffee, aren't you, ma'am?" she asked the Head with a teasing smile. Katya really needed to start taking things more seriously... but serious was so boring! |
Jason was happily working away until he heard a thud on one of the desks. Raising his head to the sound's direction, his eyes widened once he saw a hand pointing at him. Blinking for a few moments, he realized that this was Dae's hand. It was obvious since it had rings and bracelets. "You're late Kim." He told her, going back to his work. He didn't even bother listening to her yap about why she was late. Obviously it was because of a lame excuse called shopping. At the mention of coffee, Jason raised his head once more and eyed Dae. "You have coffee?" He asked her, but his nose replied to his question. "I'll take some if you don't mind, Dae." Jason said with a warm smile. As a new voice came in, he looked over and smiled at his Head of Department. "Good Morning, Ma'am." Looking over at Katya, he glared at her for teasing with the Head of Department. She should take things seriously! This is a job and not Hogwarts! |
On her way to the breakroom Mikalya pops into the Obliviator Headquarters to introduce herself to her fellow workers. "Hello, my name's Mikayla and I'll be working in the Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee." She walks back out and makes her way down the corridor. |
The Bigger Boss entered and Dae pushed Katya's legs aside slightly to lean against her own desk, cup of coffee in hand. Gracing Jason with a sideways glance she didn't answer. Hadn't she just said she brought coffee for everyone? It wasn't like she was going to charge. Although--that was a clever idea. Unconsciously, her left brow had rose. Then someone abruptly entered their office and left. Kim Dae Sun blinked repeatedly before speaking. "Oohwa!" She exclaimed. "Who needs excuses when you can just obliviate them?" |
Katya nearly choked on the hot mocha as she did a double take at the doorway, "So..." she grinned at her co-workers and Bosses and pointed at the spot where the Excuse person had just been, "Does that happen a lot around here?" |
A folded sparkling white piece of paper with a calligraphic 'A' in the corner zooms in and lands on the desk. Quote:

"Jason, you research muggle broom use and work on some plausible substitute memory scenarios." "Katya..." Ivan blinked at Katya. Was she sitting the DWR (Department Weekly Report)? He could've sworn he'd sent that off to Madeline. Ivan opened his mouth, frowned at Katya, and then shook his head. "Katya, mind giving that," he waved to the crinkled edges sticking out from under her bum, "to Madeline, please?" Ivan looked to Kim. "Get out the area travel maps of floos, flight paths and port keys." He grabbed the coffee marked 'Triple X-tra Strong' on the lid. By the wand, Kim had already earned her weight in coffee today! "Thanks." Turning back to his desk, Ivan rummaged around a parchment under a stack of books, Ivan yanked. The books tumbled over with a crash, bouncing off the nearby filing cabinet. Ignoring this, Ivan picked up his quill and scrawled out an answer. With a flick and a flutter, the response was on it's way. |
Raising his brow at Dae's side glance, he took the coffee without a word. Women and their glances. Sighing for having to work with the two most noisiest women, he took a sip of his hot coffee and then smiled. The smell and taste of coffee in the early morning. How relaxing. The relaxing moment was then cut short when a piece of paper landed on the desk. Eying his Boss, he waited for him to open and read what it had contained. A few moments later, his name was called. Listening carefully to what Ivan had to say, Jason gave him a firm nod and quickly stood up to search for the uses of those muggle brooms. Although, he couldn't help but smile at Katya once the boss called her. Giving her an "I told you to do your work" look, Jason walked off, searching. |
"Oh," Katya leaned to the side (spilling mocha on some papers on Dae's desk) and pulled out the messy documents from under her, "Why didn't you just tell me that earlier?" She got off the table, giving Jason a rude hand gesture for his patronizing look, and handed the documents to the department head, "Not coffee, but you'll need it." Just looking at the handwriting and ink blotches got her cross-eyed. |
Kim Dae Sun saluted her second boss as he walked out, leaving a destructive path behind him. Glancing at her desk, Dae Sun experienced some more destruction. "Aigooo," she whined again, and continued to prattle on in Korean, the only intelligible word here and there was Katya's name. Pulling out her wand she cleaned the mess before rubbing her temple with the tip of her wand. "I don't even know where I left those maps," she whined, eyes glancing at the ceiling, head titled to the side and back, messy bun nearly undone in her hurry to reach the office. Placing her hands on her hips she pondered this. "I'm going to have to run around the departments aren't I?" Dae Sun stomped her pump clad foot. As long as she didn't have to go to the beast division it would be fine. |
As he found what he was looking for, Jason sat down by his desk and started to read up on muggle brooms and their uses. He tried to concentrate as he read, but found that very difficult since Kim Dae Sun was yapping around in Korean. Looking up with an annoyed look he stared at her and waited for her to calm down. "Third cabinet on the left, fourth drawer." Jason airily said."Next time, Dae. Remember where you put your own stuff. And Katya, don't think I didn't see that. Behave. We're working and not at a party." |
Immediately, her response was to inhale sharply, letting her hiss resonate against the office walls. Her eyes narrowed even more than were their natural tilt and she grumbled softly in her native language, arms crossed, wishing the worst magical malady on Killin she could possibly think off. Walking swiftly, following Jason's instructions she retrieved the old maps and coughed as dust (and a couple of moths) flew out. "I think...these might need and update." Groaning, she rolled them up and folded them underneath her armpit. "I'm taking a field trip to level six. Don't work too hard, Killin. Next time you open your eyes you'll realize you're sagging in unattractive places and by the time you want a social life everyone would have shunned you into non-existence." Taking a sharp turn, she exited the office, more unintelligible prattle following her figure. |
Major eyeroll time. Katya walked back to her desk, having nothing assigned to her, and semi-glared at Jason. "Yeah, I knooow that, Killin." One more eyeroll as she twirled around on her chair (it was the one thing she loved bout this office), "Like you'd be at any parties I attend anyway." |
"Yes. And they need cleaning too. I wonder who was assigned to those ages ago," Killin said, looking down at his papers instead at Dae. He told her for the past two months that she had been assigned to work with those papers and yet she had ignored him buy going shopping. He chuckled lightly at her words and pushed up his glasses. "I don't think I will sag, Dae. That's ages from now and I'm in my late twenties," he smiled, picking up a paper and walking to one of the cabinets. "Don't get lost, Dae! I won't come looking after for you!" Jason called out as she left the department. He turned his gaze after at Katya and smirked. "I have a reason for not going." Jason told her, walking back to his desk. "Because I don't like calling my friends at 5 am telling them to come pick me up, because they have seemed to have forgotten their house address." |
Having dispatched the missive, Ivan ignored the sounds of staff squabbling to concentrate on the restacking of his books. He really needed another bookshelf - but there just wasn't any space to put one. His eyes slid over to Jason's desk. Jason had space. But Jason was...particular. Anal even. Jason, Ivan felt certain, would one day rule the world. With a depressingly high level of efficiency and hygiene, no doubt. Sighing, Ivan shoved his stacks to the edges of his desk, clearing enough space for him to work. Sitting, his strawberry blond head disappeared behind the bookstacks. He sipped his coffee and pulled out the department weekend on-call work schedule. I think I'll put Jason and Katya on the night shift together...he can keep an eye on her if something comes up... Kim was the bringer of coffee. Ivan needed her on his shift. |
Katya was probably going to pull a muscle but that didn't prevent her from rolling her eyes at the ceiling. What on earth was he talking about? Geeeez, she'd just been working here for a week or two and she already wanted to shove him down the elevator shaft. But no. She took a deep, not-so-calming breath and pushed with her foot to twirl her chair again. She didn't bother saying that Jason probably always got The Call anyway, but it was too obvious. "Merlin," she grumbled, pushing herself up, "Is it time for lunch yet?" |
Chuckling again at her question, he looked up and saw his boss staring at him. Not really him, but at his desk. What was he thinking about? Acting like he didn't notice, Jason turned around to look else where. But once he turned back, the boss had gone. Blinking at what happened, Jason looked back at Katya and gave her a warm smile. "It's morning, and lunch isn't until maybe 12 pm. Just work, Katya. That always kills time." |
Katya stopped spinning around and returned his smile with a slight frown. He looked as if he was giving her an early birthday present or something... Figures. More work probably was his idea of a present. "But the only thing I had to do was deliver some letter..." not that she was really complaining, "What should I do? Do you need any help?" |
Looking up again, he gave her a warm smile. "Well," he paused thoughtfully, trying to think of something for her to do."You could rearrange some files..." Jason stopped though, since he had realized that it was one in a million chance Katya would do that. Frowning, he opened his drawer and pulled out a bright pink paper as well as a pink muggle pen that had a furry thing on top. "I told you I'd never give these back to you, but since you're bored..." Instead of finishing, he passed on the things and went back to his work. |
Katya gasped when she spotted the pink items, and she was going to give him a piece of her mind when he just handed them over. Staring at the cute, fluffy pen she'd bought in a muggle store on the way to work a few days ago, she smiled happily. "I still don't forgive you for that," she piped up, "but maybe now I can write to the employment office and complain about what a dictator you are!" She grinned to show she was joking, but pulled her coveted stationary close just so she could admire the pretty flourishes around the corners. |
"Katya, you could read up on muggle brooms and help Jason come up with possible scenarios to replace the children's memories," Ivan piped up from behind his bookstaff. The scratch of his quill paused. Not unlike a prarie-dog, Ivan's head popped above the books. Blue eyes darted to Jason. "Have you finished compiling any yet? Give Katya some pointers in what a good scenario looks like." Ivan randomly grabbed a file from his desk and tossed it over the bookstack, across the aisle where it skidded across Jason's desk. "Use that case as an example." Ivan's head disappeared below the bookstack. The sound of quill scribbling resumed. |
Katya turned to the boss-man and pondered his suggestion. She couldn't exactly decline... she did need a job. At least that's what her brothers told her. Sighing, she stood up (taking the pen with her) and dragged her feet over to Jason's desk. It was already messy anyway, thanks to the file Callous had thrown, so she perched on the table-top and leaned back to wait for his instructions. "Okay... teach me, sensei." |
"Cupppp-cakkkess!" Trism burst into the bustling Obliviator's headquarters with a bounce. "Get a cupcake! Free cupcakes!" He pushed the tray of teal frosted cupcakes under a girls nose and was promtly brushed off. Must be on a diet. Trism shrugged it off and then wandered around the desks until he came to a familiar overly cluttered cubie. "Cupcake for a cupcake?" He said slipping a cupcake onto Ivan's desk. |
"Trism!" Ivan sat back as cupcakes were shoved under his nose. HIs arm flung back out of the way of the plate, knocking over a stack of books. Whump! They fell into another stack, sending that one over. Like a domino effect, each stack knocked off a few from the stack next to them until books were scattered in every direction. "Oh...well...nevermind that." Ivan waved off the mess. "You should've come last night - we ended up going to McGump's afterwards for drinks and darts." Trism had begged off Ivan's invitation to join him and a few other friends. "Could've used your help. Got slaughtered. Now I owe Blimple over 10 galleons." Ivan shook his head ruefully. He picked up a cupcake. Trism's treats were...doubtful tasting, at best. But he was always working on improving them, so Ivan optimistically gave them all a try. "How'd things go with your thing?" He bit into the cupcake. |
"I told you not play darts with him.You have to challenge him to 9-ball. He's pure rubbish." Trism picked up a a few books and then tried to get a passing obliviator to try a cupcake. The obliviator ignored him - again. "Thing went alright. Found the book I was looking for. Had a nice time at the shop like usual and then I went home and caught up on some much needed sleep." He settled his backside against the edge of the desk as he watched Ivan bit into the too-dry cupcake. "I made the frosting myself." He got his usual smile on his face. |
The cupcake had a distinctive sawdust taste. The icing...goopy and way, way, wayyyyy too sweet. Ivan's eyes water as his taste buds went into sugar-shock. He spit out about half, splattering a few other cupcakes with half-masticated cupcake particles. "Blugh!" A swig of the cooling coffee was hastily applied - bitter being a nice antidote to sweet. Coughing, Ivan set the rest of the cupcake aside. No, Trism hadn't quite gotten the hang of baking yet. Around the cloying dust-like pieces, which seemed to have gotten stuck in between Ivan's teeth, he said, "I think you're improving." At least this time Ivan hadn't vomited. |
Trism frowned even more then he had when Mr. Lawyer Man had told him the cupcakes were rubbish. And now Ivan had wrecked the rest of the cupcakes with his spitting out. He sighed and tossed the cupcakes out into the trashcan next to Ivan's desk. "So," He snatched up Ivan's coffee cup and took a swig. "So...how are things in the Obliviator world?" |
Ivan waved a hand at the files. "About the same - plenty to do, although we're a bit short-staffed." His eyes landed on Katya and Jason. "We could use a few more experienced people, but..." Ivan shrugged. "We get the job done." He smiled. "How're the..er..." Ivan lowered his voice, "..brains? Anyone jump the pond lately?" Trism never really talked about his work, but it had once slipped that a brain had gotten away and caused departmental havoc. Ivan found that very amusing, but try as he might, Trism still wasn't very forthcoming on the Brain Room scandals. No wonder they were called Unspeakables... |
Trism shhh'ed Ivan loudly. He knew that that night of too many Flamming Toadstools at Yusuke's was going to come back and haunt him like a bad penny. IF he had any skill in the area, he would have oblivated the memory from Ivan's head. As it was, Trism had figured Mr. Forget-ful Ivan would have forgotten. Go figure he hadn't. It was - what was it his old muggle-born ex had said? Murphey's law. "You are going to get me into so much trouble one day." He put Ivan's coffee mug down. |
Ivan grabbed up the mug and brought it to his lips, only to discover Trism had emptied it. He set it back down. "Nah. They know you're the best. And you never tell tales. Unfortunately." Ivan liked to tease Trism. It tickled Ivan that Trism was so chatty about everything else and completely tight-lipped about work. "So, rumor has it something big is going down soon. Nobody's saying what, though. Since our work is on hold until the Department of Transportation locates some muggle children, I was thinking about scouting the cafeteria for prattle. Want to come?" |
"Something coming down? What's going down? Did the Minister die his hair pink again?" He stood up. "And I could go for a bag of snoodle doodles. Maybe Yusuke'll be around." He picked up a few books and put them down on Ivan's desk. "You need to tidy up mate. Seriously." |
Ivan nodded. He did need to clean. Tomorrow. He'd straighten up tomorrow. After all, what was the hurry. It'd just get messy again. "Whatever it is, is bigger than the hair dye incident. Maybe Yusuke will know. Blimple thinks there's going to be a tax increase and the goblins are on the verge of revolt." But then, that's what Blimple always thought. Goblins and taxes were his two favorite conspiracy themes. Standing, Ivan shoved the schedule he'd been working on back in a drawer. Or rather, he'd attempted to do so. The drawer wouldn't close because it was so full. Ivan slammed it hard, crushing the paper. The drawer remained askew, but it was close enough. "I'll be back in a half hour," Ivan said to Jason and Katya. "If Kim gets back before I do, see if you can't help her get those maps posted...uh..over there." Ivan waved at the only empty wall. "Ready?" he asked his friend. |
"That's what Blimple aways says." Trism gave voice to what Ivan was thinking. Trism watched Ivan with his drawer and shook his head. If he worked in a space like this, Trism'd go nuts. Thankfully he only visited. "Common, I think it's turkey and potato day in the Cafeteria and you know how fast that goes." He started for the door. |
Ivan followed Trism out, waving to his staff as he went. "Let me know if any word comes from Transportation on those kids, okay?" Ivan said this primarily to Jason. With that, he disappeared into the hall. |
Katya leaned back on the desk, resting her elbows on some folder or other of Jason's. She watched Callous and his friend leave with a bored expression, "Geez... he just had to go to the cafe, didn't he?" Sighing, she frowned and tried to read what Jason was writing upside-down, "Now I can't tempt you to go grab a snack with me." |
Jason ignored what his Boss had said because frankly he can't teach Katya a thing. She's helpless and is better off not being taught in his opinion. Once Trism, a friend of his boss came in, Jason zoned out and focused on writing up something. Once the both of them were gone, Katya started to nag him again. Sigh. Smiling, he nodded his head, giving up. "Fine Katya, fine. Let's go have a snack!" |
"Briiiiiilliant!" Katya trilled, hopping off the desk and suddenly animated again. Breaks always gave her an adrenaline rush, "I've been absolutely dying for a break from all this work." Before he could change his mind (cos really, he could be such a stick in the mud), she plucked the quill out of his fingers and pulled him to his feet, "Come on, come on, Callous is coming back you knoooow?" |
Having finally collected all the newly updated maps, when Kim Dae Sun stepped once more into the Obliviator Headquarters, she was almost hiding behind the amount of badly rolled up scrolls. Peering over the scrolls she spotted Katya holding Killin's hands. Her brows rose quickly but she willed them back down to their normal position before speaking. "I'm...back." Aww-kwaaaard. And since Dae Sun couldn't possibly shut up in an uncomfortable situation her mouth and lips started moving at an alarming rate, words flying out left, right and center. "I can't believe the people who work at level six. Not only do I get scolded for not having the maps they question my reasons. I thought they were informed about the broom scandal. Didn't THEY get a memo too? Bloody idiots." |
Jason laughed at how excited Katya was. It was only a break and they were going back very soon. It wasn't like they were going to go away for a long time. His laugh died down once she took away his quill and touched his hand. Killin stared down once he was stood up by her. She was touching his hand. His ears reddened as he wanted to pull away, but he reddened even more when Dae's voice appeared. She had seen what had just happened. Dear Merlins why him?! "Umm..." Jason opened his mouth, but words wouldn't spill out since he was too embarrassed of what had happened. "Yeah. People. They're mean. Very mean. Let's go have a break, Kim!" Jason nervously laughed, taking his hand off Katya and quickly walking out of the department. |
Katya snorted at Jason's strange behaviour and made faces behind his back for Dae's benefit. Once that had lost its appeal, and he'd left without even making sure they were following, she bounced over to Dae's side, "Come on, let's get snacks and you can tell us all about those potatoes." Leaning in just a wee bit closer, she whispered (not like there was anyone to listen), "And I'll tell you bout my Callous theories!" |
Unwillingly, she dropped the maps on her desk and glanced around for either fellow Obliviators or one of the bosses. None were within sight. Organizing her desk (it seemed Katya had gotten to it again) she nodded. Katya was at it again. Such a gossip. Dae Sun pretended she wasn't interested for the sake of her professional image. "Oh?" Inquired the dark-haired woman. "What is it this time? That he likes cupcakes." Allowing herself a loud giggle promptly turning into a snort, Dae Sun linked her arm through Katya's and led her out of the office. |

She then pulled a small folder with a few lone pieces of parchment out from under her arm. She had popped in that morning to deliver something, but it wasn't that important, hence the reason she had waited so long to tell them about it. "If you were all wondering why I've popped in for a visit, it's this." she said. She placed the folder on Ivan's desk. "Now, things are rather slow around here this morning, so I figured now would be the perfect time for a mock mission." she explained. She tapped the folder with her manicured forefinger. "You'll find all the info you need on the sheets inside. They're all the same. I figure it will keep you busy until we get some real business around here." she added. The tone of her voice clearly conveyed just how much Madeline was missing the action around the Department as well. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go deliver these," she turned to reveal a few more folders tucked under her arm, "to the rest of the Departments. Have fun!" And with that, she turned on her heel and walked gracefully from the office. Quote:

"Okay, let's get started..." Ivan looked at each member, sighing over Katya, who seeemed to be staring blankly into space. "Kim, you'll take the Town Square scenario. You'll need to have a plan for drawing the woman in hiding out before you can obliviate and replace her memory. Try to make it a happy new memory, okay?" Kim wasn't always the most patient person, in Ivan's opinion. "Write it all out and hand it in by the end of the day." "Jason, take the the Churchyard scenario. And no dabbling in the other scenarios." Ivan's eyes narrowed at Jason. Jason liked to prove how quick he was by 'helping' out the others, even if he hadn't been asked. Sometimes Ivan was tempted to toss a leg-locking spell on him just to keep him in his area. "Turn in to me by end of day. If you get done early," - a distinct possibility - "maybe you could get us some fresh parchment supplies and help Kim post the transportation maps to the walls." There, that oughta keep him busy! "Katya...Katya?!" Ivan waved a hand, trying to catch her attention. When her eyes turned in his direction, Ivan decided that was good enough. He spoke a little slower since he wasn't sure if she was all 'there' yet. "You'll work on the Meyers Barn scenario. Write everything down. Turn it in to me before you leave today." His head bobbed a little to the left and right, trying to discern whether she understood her instructions. "If any of you have any questions, ask. I'll be outlining our approach and departure." He scooped up the maps on Kim's desk and brought them over to his own, where they were spread over the mess of books. He'd be grateful to finally have these on the wall. |
Katya looked over at Callous from where she stood beside Dae. He was back too soon, and was already giving out more work. It was such a bore... "Eh," she shrugged a shoulder and examined her nails. ... Darn, my nail's chipped. ... She let out a heavy sigh, "...Okay." Not. |

A brow rose as she glanced sideways at Katya, realizing the girl's head was lolling slightly to the side. Meanwhile, by the gleam on Killin's face he was positively wetting himself with the prospect of doing something that was both time and brain cell consuming. "Some consider having a mullet back in high school a very happy memory," she replied out of the corner of her mouth, a hand flying up to flatten fly hairs. "Whatever you say, boss." Dae Sun sighed. Aigoo, more work. |
Sighing and generally taking her sweet time in reading the assignment over, Katya wondered what Oche was doing right then. Glancing at the clock on the wall out of the corner of her eyes (while rubbing her chin to look as if she was absorbing the mock scenario), she realized he was probably scaring more kids off his lawn. Reading the assignment properly now, she made a face at the parchment before shuffling back to her desk. Where she promptly started doodling. |
Theo strolled onto the 3rd floor. He was looking for the Obliviators. And having been here several times, he knew where to go. He strolled into their meeting place. "Hey guys. I was wondering about this thing I am meant to be doing with you guys and broom regulatory. And I don't really know how my department can help." He spotted Katya. She was an obliviator? He fiddled with his fingers, in a nervous sort of way. |
Katya paused in the midst of drawing a young boy being swung around by a tree branch when another voice interrupted the calm of their office. Looking to the doorway lazily, she stopped short when she saw Theo filling it. Sitting up slightly straighter, and gripping her quill a little too tightly, she smiled hesitantly. What did he say? Whatever... who cares, he's just so gorgeous... |
Theo just stood gazing at Katya. "Um...hi Katya," he mumbled, waving slightly, "Nice to see you again." He smiled at her, and then realised why he was actually standing in the doorway. Something about broomsticks. Who cared about stolen broomsticks when Katya was sitting there, it wasn't like the broomsticks were going anywhere. |
Dae was well on her way of illustrating scenes of her plan. It involved a very angry stick figure labeled "Sunny". There was a slightly familiar voice echoing against the walls of the office and Kim Dae Sun made some kind of bored sound mixed with annoyance. "You can always just find a way to track your brooms." she quipped not bothering to look at the man. "Don't you guys implant tracking devices on those things? Some kind of...." Frowned, Dae Sun, using her eraser excessively on a crooked tree she had drawn. "Code number for each broom made that you keep in some sort of magical database?" Honestly...level six... Finally looking up she watched Theo staring at Katya and Katya staring back. The staring was so that the intensity began to make Dae Sun feel uncomfortable forcing her to do something drastic like snap her fingers repeatedly. "Katya," she hissed finally, picking up a pack of colored post-its and chucked it at Katya's head. |
Knocked violently out of her semi-floating (metaphorically, of course) state by a pack of coloured paper, Katya blushed and ducked her head over her assignment. *cough* "Yeah..." she supplied weakly to add to Dae's speculations, "Can't you just... summon them?" |
"S...s...summon them?" Theo questioned. He had completely ignored what the other woman had said. "If we could just summon them, why is my Department needed? After all Broom Regulatory could do that." He was so confused. It wasn't up to him to keep track on the brooms, he just flew them. Theo liked that he could stand here all day gazing at other employees, that weren't his. But he knew his Secretary would be wondering where he was. He ran his hand through his slightly ruffled hair, and nodded to himself. "Thanks for your help guys. Best be going to do some work." He smiled at Katya, "Hope to be working with you some more." |
Staring at him blankly she wondered what kind of work she'd done at all for him? Besides one really lame suggestion (which he'd rejected), she really wasn't much help. Reaching up, she rubbed the back of her neck shyly, "Uh, sure... Theo." |
Theo thrust his hands in his suit trouser pockets. He had looked like a total idiot. It's ok, you can just lock yourself in your office and never come out again. He nodded to himself again. "Good idea," he muttered. He turned, and left the room as quickly as he could. He heard his tummy rumble. It was lunch time. |
What idea? Thoroughly confused now, Katya turned to Dae with a helpless expression, as if the other woman could possibly tell her what had just happened. She wondered if she was actually living in a completely different dimension than everyone else and was hearing and seeing different things... |
The whole time she had been staring at the duo with a mixture of annoyance and incredulity. Scoffing as Theo left, she shook her head slightly, pencil still in her hand. "Broom Regulatory Control," she repeated. "Chock full of idiots." |

There was lots of 'hmm-ing' and harumphing from behind Ivan's piles of books. He finally figured out the best route for his team's arrival at the 'event' location, pinpointing a nearby floo and then a short apparation behind buildings close to the muggles in question. Having assinged tasks and established transportation to and from the event, he just needed to sit back now and wait for his team to get in their responses. My, they are a sluggish lot today, thought the man with the drooping eyelids. Tossing his hands behind his head and throwing his legs up on his desk, Ivan stretched out and closed his eyes. Maybe a little shut-eye before checking in on how people where coming with their pieces of the scenario. Within moments he was softly snoring. |
Looking over at the snoring pile of books, Katya snorted, "I love Callous," she sighed just loud enough for Kim and Jason to hear. Not that the bossman would hear anyway, he slept like a log once he got to sleep. She turned back to her "solution" for the mock scenario. The parchment was in a sorry state, scribbles in the margins where she'd gotten bored, scratched out words and even a smiley face at the bottom saying hello to Callous. Bored, she re-read what she'd written: Quote:

A small piece of paper, with very hurried writing written on it flies into the room, and lands on a desk. Quote:
