Pippa grinned at Mr Kutcher, and pocketed her wand again, before heading off out of the room, and up towards the next challenge. Now, this day WAS turning out to be rather fun, or so she was hoping it was going to continue. Really she was.
Briony walked into the next challenge and listened again as Mr. Kutcher spoke about their task. It definitely seemed a little more easier than the last tihng she had to complete. So all they had to do was fix a charmed object and then make a potion go back to normal color. Okay, time to begin.
She walked into the room where tea cups were flying past her and she quickly had to duck before getting hit in the head by one of them. She took out her wand and did her best at saying, "Aresto Momentum!" Before it could come back and it her in the head. The tea cup slowed down and she was thankful for that. What was next? Oh right, turn it back into a bird. The Homorphus Charm would clear that bit up. Briony pointed her wand back at the slowing tea cup and thought as hard as she could of changing the cup back into a bird. It suddenly transformed into a canary right before her eyes. Satisfied with herself, she walked forward to the table where the potion was.
The potion was an orange and she thought about how to fix this. This was probably a shrinking solution. Looks like someone added one to many rat spleens. She decided that it was going to need 3 more sliced caterpillars and a handful of daisy roots. She went to work, slicing the caterpillars and added them to the potion. Then she went to chopping the daisy roots very carefully. She added the ingredients and it went from it's orange to an acid green. Yes! It had worked. Time for it's final test.
On the table she saw a stack of quills. Briony found a vial and put some of the Shrinking Solution into it, making sure not to spill it, or else the whole table may shrink. Once the potion went into the vial, she took a quill and stuck it in, watching the big quill shrink down to a very tiny quill. She smiled and set it down on the table.
"You need to know so that, if you ever DO need to fix a potion or brew it yourself, you don't accidentally make your head explode or something," Wes explained. True he'd never heard of a potion that actually DID that but...oh well.
Sighing and figuring that his small amount of cheerfulness was the best he was going to get out of him, Wes nodded. "Alright, you may proceed."
Michel raised her eyebrows at the man, a little amusement flashing across his face. "There is no potion which makes your head explode." He simply stated with a nod, the corners of his lips curling up a little to almost form a small smile. Almost. He had felt the need to make that clear in case the man was scared of head-exploding-potions.
Well, at least he allowed him to proceed. And he did not talk about Alice in Wonderland anymore. Which was good. Very good. "Thank you, Sir." He gave him a curt nod before turning around to leave the room. Now, hopefully this would be over soon...
Oh no. This one seemed a bit confused. "Your potion is perfectly fine, however, I don't think that's the correct spell to transform things back into their original form," he said, turning to the board once more.
Emma looked behind her to see her teacup, still frozen, but which was still in its strainge form.
"Darn it!" She said under her breath, smiling at the man she stepped towards it once more.
Lifting her wand she said, "Finite"
Throwing a half glance at the man, hoping this time she had got the spell right.

Madrigal shrugged lightly and watched he yellowish liquid appear. Now that she saw it a second time, she realized that it wasn't as bright yellow as it had been when she'd first seen it. "Oh, that makes more sense," she said more to herself than to Wes as she grabbed a vial of leech juice from the table and set to work fixing the potion. She splashed a small amount of the leech juice into the cauldron and stirred clockwise for two minutes, let the concoction sit for two minutes, and stirred counterclockwise for one minute. Then, she dashed some more leech juice onto the mixture and repeated the process.
After the third application of leech juice, the potion finally turned an acidic green color. She removed the stirring rod again before setting aside one of the quills and dropping two drops of the new potion onto it with a small dropper. After a moment, the quill began to slowly shrink.

Malachi walked into the room and couldn't help but chuckle as he saw the array of enormous pigmy puffs, walking mops and canary tea-cups. After listening to the Department Head introduce the task and then carefully picked his way around the room, finally choosing a teacup, pulling out his wand and performing a non-verbal Homorphus Charm to return the canary to its original state. The little bird sat on his finger, trilling and warbling with happiness. Malachi stroked the little bird's chest with his finger gently. "That's better, isn't it?" The bird took flight, apparently enjoying the chance to fly properly.
Malachi put his wand away carefully made his way around the various obstacles towards the cauldron. Looking into it he saw the potion was yellow. After taking a tentative sniff he was convinced that it was shrinking solution. He began to look for the leech juice. Finding it, he uncorked the bottle and added one drop to the potion. It turned a pale green. He waited five minutes and added another drop. The potion turned a brighter green, but it still wasn't the acid green that it needed to be. After another five minutes, he added one more drop of leech juice to the potion and it turn acid green.
Using his wand, Malachi conjured a pipette and drew a sample of the Shrinking solution into it. He pulled one of the feathers towards him and dropped a little of the solution onto it. The feather began to shrink. Malachi smiled a little with satisfaction.

Jade walked into the next room and quickly glanced around, taking mental notes for herself. Turning her attention to the rather handsome gentleman speaking, she gave him her complete attention. Again, she mentally took notes as she listened closely to all he had to say. Thinking is was probably wise for her to perhaps write down everything, she shrugged the notion and stored away everything she could in her head.
Rolling her her sleeves, Jade reached for her wand and cast Finite. Nothing appeared to happen, but it was worth a try she reasoned to herself as she set her sights on the canaries above. It would be a task to get to them with the puff toys in her way. Think girl, think. Looking to some of toys in her way, she pointed her wand and cast Diminuendo. Quickly, the toys returned to their original size. Stepping around over them, she made her way across the room and looked above her. Aiming her wand upward, she cast Aresto Momentum and watched as the canaries above her slowed down. That wasn't all that difficult she thought as she cast Homorphus Charm. That charm had always given her trouble in her young but luck for her, she was able to get her non-verbal charms perfected in the last few years.
Smiling to herself, she made her way to the end of the room as a canary landed on her shoulder. Giving the bird a smile and light pet, she read the notecard and then looked to the cauldron. Potions was once her favourite subject and she felt she would be able to achieve the needed result. Noticing the yellow color of the potion, she thought back to all she remembered and smiled. Yes, she would need leech juice. Finding the bottle of leech juice, she slowly added a dash and turned her attention to the carnary on her shoulder. "You do look rather happy to not have teacups for wings, don't you?" she laughed as she waited. She couldn't add more juice for five minutes and she knew that just that dash was not going to fix it. After the initial five minutes, she glanced back to the potion. Still a yellow colour, just as she thought. Uncorking the bottle again, she added another dash and waited another five minutes.
After repeating the steps another three or four times, she noticed the potion was now a green colour. But the real question now, was if it would work? Picking up a quill, she carefully dipped the quill into the potion and pulled it back out. Raising the quill up to her eye level, she watched the tip start to shrink down slowly. Question answered.
[QUOTE=Miss Lissy Lou;9293455]Uh oh. The canary that this woman had just used Finite on popped back into a teacup! "I don't think that spell is strong enough for that...try something else, maybe?" he said. Hint hint. Wink wink. Tee hee.
Alyssa sighed as she watched as her tea cup turned back into a canary. What spell was she going to use now....Alyssa looked over the list of spells again. She saw one that might work.....it was non-verbal. Oh boy, Alyssa wasn't good with those, spells out loud worked so much better than the ones in her head...okay here she goes she prayed it worked. Homorphus Alyssa whispered in her head and then opened her eyes and saw that the canary was indeed turned backed into a tea cup with a flower print. "I'm done now!" Alyssa told to head.

Awesome!
Bossman was in charge of this Challenge. That and he was in this Department, so he would sorta have to know how to deal with this stuff. Especially seeing as he was head of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad.
He listened to the speech and was actually rather interested because this was in the field that he liked. He liked charms and fixing objects that were not working right. It was rather cool.
He looked around the room and saw that there were canaries turned into teacups, giant pygmy puff toys, and a cauldron of potion that hadn't been brewed properly.
Right, he was going to deal with a canary teacup.
He took out his wand and thought of what he would use to deal with it. He had an idea because he had dealt with things like this before.
"Aresto Momentum," he said as he pointed the wand at one of the birds. It slowed down, which would make it easier to deal with the thing. Then he used the trusted Homorphus Charm to turn the thing back to its usual form. And that was that.
Now he stepped over to the cauldron and looked at the yellow potion. Before he could fix anything, he would have to identify the thing. And it was good that he was a Division Head, because it meant that he would be able to do it.
It was a Shrinking Solution.
He knew this because that potion turned a yellow if the daisy roots weren't chopped correctly.
So he had to fix that now.
He grabbed the leech juice, and looking at the clock added a dash. Then he waited 5 minutes before adding another one. He kept doing that until the potion was green like it was supposed to be.
Now he was almost done.
He picked up a quill and placed it in the solution carefully, making sure not to get it on himself. When he pulled the quill back out, it had shrunk.
He was done now, and he just needed to wait to be passed on to the next Challenge.

Oh dear. Maybe the light was shining on the potion in a weird way...she seemed to think it was orange instead of yellow! "Uh oh...that's not the correct way to fix the potion. Try again?" he said with a smile, waving his wand and watching as the potion was cleared out and replaced by a yellow liquid once more.

Beware.
Amaria walks in glad she finally passed the first Challenge. To her it was very CHALLENGING. She looks up to the directions on the board when a teacup canary hits her head. "Ahh we're supposed to help out this room," she says then she points her wand upon the teacup and thinks HOMORPHUS. The teacup just runs away and she remembers, "Aresto Momentum," and the teacups slow down long enough for her to think HOMORPHUS. The teacups then turn back into canarys.
Next she looks at the potion. "Ahh, it is yellow instead of green. This is the shrinking solution with unproperly chopped daisy roots. To change it you must add a dash of leech juice every five minutes." Amaria adds a dash of leech juice, then waits five minutes. In the wait she looks around. Most people seem to be progressing, it seemed like an easier challenge. After five minutes it is a yellow-green so she adds another dash. After five minutes it seemed to do the trick so she pours a little onto the quill and it shrinks.
Claudian gulped quite audibly. This was just like Hogwarts. His eyes gazed around momentarily and he half expected Professor Dresden to POP out at him and demand a million-paged dissertation on the many uses of bubotuber pus, but the man was nowhere to be found.
"Ooh!" A quick sighing yelp as one of the disoriented canary teacups hit smack-dab into the side of Claudesy's face. Like a kamikazi flyer it bounced off its target and began spiraling towards the ground before it ricocheted off of one of the too enormous for words toy pygmy puffs and was airborne again.
"Sheryyyyllll!!! Noor! I have abandonment issues!" He called for it after winning a brief inner-debate over whether or not to get attached and name the tea-nary. He took a deep breath...and a seat upon one of the too enormous for words puffs, giving up on trying to get around them as he tried to remember the spells to use.
"Aresto Momentum!" He shot out at the get-away tea-nary. Like a vastly over-grown bullfrog, Claudian moved from puff to puff to pluck 'Sheryl' out of the air and change her back to her original form. H'mm. What was that? Was she a teacup turned canary or a canary turned teacup? Gentleman's choice? We'd soon find out. Drawing his wand again and positioning it for the gesture, he casted the homorphus charm upon poor little Sheryl.
But there he remained. In a sea of over-grown PUFFS! And, he couldn't remember the spell to get himself out of it for the life of him. Seeing them all there in the drab shades that nature gave them, only one spell came to mind. Left and right he casted upon their large bodies until they resembled the cosmetic poufs in all the colourful pigments of a ladies paint box. So pretty! He singled in on a lime-green one and tried the size-reducing charm, but mispronounced it slightly.
He tried this a few times before he got the wand motion and the incantation correctly. "Diminuendo!" He uttered and though he mis-aimed at the intended target, he hit the one nearest to it. The room seemed bigger already. One puff after another, he shrank his way to a clear walk-space until he was in front of a rather large cauldron. Was he meant to shrink this too? Best not to try that just yet before inspecting the contents therein.

Blink blink.
WHO was Sheryl? And why on Earth was he shouting about abandonment issues? Hmmm. Was it...possible to get that attached to a canary!cup without even really spending time with it? Strange.
He watched the man--Claudian, that was his name right? He tried to think back to their brief meeting when he had gotten lost trying to find Taylor's office. Yes, he was certain that was it--and observed him changing the objects back to normal.
Well, that part was all done, and once he fixed the potion he'd be free to move on!

Claudian lumbered a little closer to the large pot and took a whiff. It had an oily smell and he could not tell what it was, nor could he remember any potion that was meant to be the shade of yellow like it was. Seeing the ample supply of feathers nearby he took one from the pile and dropped it into the concoction. It made a strange noise as the liquid swallowed the feather whole and seconds later out it popped in a very odd disformation. Potions never were his forte, and he wished his Aryanna were here.
This was obviously the something wrong that had gone with the brew. Claudian peered back over the sea of psychedelically coloured toy pygmy puffs to the poster. He smiled in relief when he read that yellow was indeed a sign of something wrong AND it had a fix.
Rolling his wand between the palms of his two hands, Claudian first adjusted the flame for eveness. Who knew...with potions it was better to be safe than sorry and an even brewing temperature would help. He placed his wand to the side and rolled up his sleeves. He tossed one more feather into the brew just to verify what was wrong with it. When he fished it out, he was certain what he was working with now by the uneveness of the feather. He reached out towards some nearby ingredients and picked up a large phial of the leech juice. He uncorked it and turned away the smell something unpleasant, but it reminded him of that time he and Natalie tried to make a potion together. It was shrinking solution and she'd spilled lots all over him.
He carefully tilted the juice into the cauldron and watched it very closely. Slowly, the potions colour began to fade until it was far less golden and more of a springy sort of yellow. More like the colour it was supposed to be. Claudian kept on adding to the cauldron until by and by it had changed into a very bright green shade. He recorked the phial of leech juice and grabbed a feather, again allowing it to sink into the potion. When it resurfaced, it was tiny enough to be a doxy quill. Using his wand, he levitated the small feather out and cleaned the area after himself.

Malachi looked up at the bird, which really was much more of a yellow blur. He chuckled and nodded at the department head, who's name he had missed. He took out his wand again and conjured a net. Waiting for the best moment and with a well practised movement, he swished the net through the air, capturing the canary, who protested loudly.
'Chirp, chirp, CHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP!'
Malachi careful took the bird out of the net, placing his palm on it's back and wrapping his fingers around the bird with his thumb and forefinger on either side of it's head. He held the bird like that for a long time, allowing it to get used to him. When he felt that it was calm, he relaxed his grip on the bird, which took flight again, but in a much more restrained manner. It circled the room and then chose to perch on one of the enlarged stuffed pygmy puff toys. "Much better," Malachi said to himself quietly.

Wes smiled as Claudian successfully fixed the potion. Hmmmm. The area was starting to thin out...he wondered if any more would wander in from the previous challenges.
"Great job! You may proceed," he said with a smile.

Interesting. Not--exactly what he had had in mind, but it had worked!
"Alright, you may move on!" he said with a smile.

Oliver walked into the room for Challenge Two after getting instructions from Mr. Kutcher and oh what a mess it turned out to be. He started to move forward until he almost walked into a stuffed pygmy puff toy that was completely blocking his way. Oliver took out his wand and "Diminuendo" and watched as it shrunk back to it's original size.
Pleased with how well he had done well with the first part of the challenge Oliver walked over the cauldron that appeared to be full of a Calming Draught Potion that had obviously been made wrong. It seemed that there was one too many drops of hellebore. To correct this Oliver picked up and added two more ginger roots to the potion and than stirred counterclockwise a total of ten times. Seeing the potion was on the right track and returning to a light blue color Oliver added two leaves of lovage powdered moonstone and two crushed scarab beetles to make the potion complete. Satisfied with his work Oliver took a vial and filled it with his new and improved Calming Draught Potion and waited patiently to see if he did well enough to move on.

"Your spellwork is just fine," Wes said with a smile. "But..." he peered over at his potion. "I think you've tried to correct the wrong potion. Try again!" he encouraged. He picked up his wand and waved it, watching as the potion vanished and was replaced once more by a yellow liquid.

Entering the next room in the challenge, Gavin was pleased to see his own boss standing by the door ready to give instructions. Should have no trouble with this one, he mused to himself with a small smirk before letting his face return to normal. He listened carefully to the instructions Wes gave so he knew exactly what was expected from him before giving a nod of understanding and going to work, his wand out.
Walking further into the room, he focused on one flying cup in particular before raising his wand to catch it as it neared. "Arresto momentum!" , the man cast, the spell slowing it down to the point where he could catch it without too much trouble. The cup-bird fidgetting in his grasp, he gently shifted it to hold in one hand before giving another swish as he cast the non-verbal charm, the bird finally returning to its rightful shape.
With no other place to put it as he walked to the table with the potion, Gavin settled it on his shoulder for the moment so he could see what he could do with it. "Ok so its yellow and wrong so it would be a...shrinking solution," he mused quietly to himself as he double checked it with the notes.
Finding it correct and and the solution, he picked up the vial of leech juice and added just a dash before waiting the required 5 minutes to see if it worked enough. When it was still too yellow, he repeated the process a few more times including the waiting till it was finally green. Satisfied, he picked up a quill and carefully added the potion to it, watching it shrink before returning to Wes for his permission to go on, taking the bird in hand and moving it from his shoulder to the other man's.
"Present for you, Wes," he said with a small smile.
Edward walks into the next room. He notices a man standing next to a giant poster board. Edward walks over and introduces himself. “ Hello, I’m Edward Lestrange. I work in the Auror Division, Magical Law Enforcement.” He then finds a seat and listens to the lecture. Edward makes sure he takes detailed notes because he has no experience with household mishaps. When Wesley finishes, Edward proceeds to the next room.
As soon as he closes the door, Edward finds himself in a disaster zone. Mops walk around on their own. One even steps on his foot. Edward tries to grab the thing, but let’s go when he’s bombarded by flying canary/cup things. The air are full of them. Obviously a transfiguration class assignment that go away from the teacher. Edward tries the catch the next one that hits him but can’t. The cups are just moving too fast. Wesley mentioned something about a charm that slows things down. I need to use that on these cups. Edward looks his notes over and finds the Aresto Momentum. That charm slows things down. It should work on the cups.
Edward points his wand in the air and performs a silent Aresto Momentum Charm. He manages to hit one of the canary/cups on the third try. Edward has no trouble catching one now. He holds it in his left hand while he looks his notes over again. This cup/canary must be under the influence of a transfiguration charm go awry. I need to reverse the effects and get the poor canary back to his old self. The Homorphus Charm should do the trick. Edward points his wand at the canary/cup and performs a silent Homorphus Charm. The cup turns back into a darling yellow canary. Edward releases the bird. He flies happily around the room. One down. One to go.
The second part of the test says he must fix an incorrectly brewed potion. Edward makes his way to the end of the room. He finds a giant cauldron full of bright yellow potion. A yellow potion… If you don’t chop the daisy root properly, the Shrinking Solution will look yellow. The Calming Draught does not turn yellow when brewed improperly. That potion turns dark blue, so this must be the Shrinking Solution. Now, how do I fix it? Edward checks his notes and looks around for a bottle of leech juice. The instructions say you use leech juice to correct this problem. Edward takes out his watch and opens the bottle of leech juice. When his second hand moves to one of the numbers, he pours in a dash of leech juice. Edward watches his watch and the potion to see if there is a change in color. Five minutes passes and the color is still yellow. He waits for the clock to get into the right position and adds another dash of leech juice. It takes another three dashes and five minute intervals in between for the potion to turn green. The instructions say that’s the color the potion should be. Edward finds a ladle of potion and pours it over one of the feathers. It shrinks to half its normal size. Mission accomplished.
