Maximus Vindictus looked absolutely resplendent in his golden officiating robes that gleamed in the stadium lights. He was STILL the Golden Boy of Quidditch after playing on five English World Cup teams and here he was officiating. No strike that. He was the HEAD official of the Quidditch World Cup Championship Game. And he looked good tonight.

Confidently striding to the center of the pitch, he looked up to the top box and raised his broom in salute to Minister Reagan Taylor. It was the cue for her to begin.

Max watched the mascot parade and rolled his eyes. Sure it was entertaining but he was ready to start THE show. It took nearly thirty minutes for the entire thing to finish but just as soon as the last mascot vanished from sight, a loud WHOOSH was heard in the Stadium just as Minister Reagan Taylor announced the names of the teams.

The fans in the packed stands cheered as a a red and white clad English team entered the Pitch led by Captain Colin MacKenzie. He was followed by Chasers Rhys Glyndwr, Kizzie Ainsley and Kip Norwood. Behind them followed Beaters Quinn Gallagher and Drake Warren. Then tailing the group was Seeker Emma Greene.

The crowd's cheers didn't fade as the green and yellow clad Australian team entered from the opposite end of the Pitch led by Captain Hailee Archer. She was followed by Chasers Blaze Murphy and Jett Turner, and Keeper Monty Williams. Beaters Chuck Liu and Jack Fletcher followed behind them. At the back was Seeker Lindie Kaing.

Both teams took their customary laps around the Pitch before settling into place.

Vindictus didn't have to say anything to them - these were professional players, and not some school-aged kids still learning the sport. He signalled to the other officials on the Pitch to release the equipment and he took his position in the air. He put his silver whistle in his mouth and raised his right arm. All eyes were on him.

TWEEEEEET!

A loud piercing sound echoed through the stadium as he dropped his right arm and the players zoomed into action
