Not necessarily sarcasm as sometimes it is frustrating as a reader to come across a character constantly being sarcastic {I see sarcasm as someone making a mockery of something and not at all being helpful}, especially in serious situations where things are tense. What I love about witty remarks is that they display cleverness in a quick thinking manner and they are not meant to offend anyone.
