Favourite Canon Couple The Wizarding World gave us more than spells and adventures; it also gave us some incredibly memorable relationships. From sweet slow burns to steadfast partnerships forged through chaos, the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series are full of canon couples that captured our hearts in a variety of ways. |
I went with Fleur and Bill for the poll. It was a tough choice between them and Ron/Hermione for me, but even though I do still like Ron/Hermione, Bill/Fleur have really grown on me over the years. I liked them even back when I first read the books, but since they're both very much side characters, they don't get a ton of development, so I didn't really think much about them. But there's something about them that I just really love. Fleur is underestimated/looked down on so often in the series, especially in book six when she and Bill are dating and Molly and Ginny don't approve of her. But then Fleur proves that she's not the person they assume her to be when she shows that she loves Bill no matter what, no matter what happens or what he looks like. She loves him for who he is, and he loves her for who she is too. :val5: |
I always loved the Harry and Ginny pairing. Childhood friends or long-term crushes being reciprocated were charming for me to read. The books portrayed Ginny in the form of a metamorphosis, where she became shy and clumsy around Harry, to eventually blossom into a popular, pretty girl. But it was her strength and courage that Harry saw beyond her beauty that attracted him. Harry thought that he wasn't equipped to handle another person's emotions like Cho, but in fact, he merely needed someone who shared similar trauma and heartbreak that he did. Harry and Ginny just fit the mold with each other once they were able to form together. She did idolize him when she was younger, but she saw him as an individual and not as an idol, which I'm sure also grew Harry's respect and love for her. I just hope the upcoming show does a better job of portraying this than the movies. :xd: |
This this this! ^^^ You explained what I love about Harry/Ginny much more eloquently than I could’ve right now. I agree with everything. I also love the dynamic when Harry tried to protect her by breaking up with her, and (I believe - it’s been a long time since I read the books) she called him out, accepted his decision, and continued working for the cause in her own way. Then they, obviously, came back together after the war. |
