I used to work for a company that made movies from books and loved it. But when it comes down to it I would rather read the book. It is too hard to bring a book to screen. You can never bring everything to the screen and those moments mean a lot to people.

OnyxRaizel 08-17-2019 03:32 AM

I love both, but I like how the books tend to describe even the most mundane settings in a fascinating and humorous way.

KCSpector 08-17-2019 08:22 PM

I prefer the books because there's so much missing from the movies.

bobb19 08-18-2019 02:12 AM

For me books are more interesting than films, cause you control the speed of reading, and your imagination processes can build your own mind in a totally new way.

love-for-HP 08-20-2019 07:45 PM

I prefer the books because you are able to use your imagination more, create the look of characters and creatures in your own mind. (Thought I had explained why in my previous post, please forgive me if this is considered a double post then as well).

Books

The books just have more detail! way better

Freyr 08-26-2019 02:58 PM

Books because I can feel more involved in the storytelling due to provided little details .

827lbr 08-27-2019 08:52 AM

I like books because the movies omit the details

QuaterBloodPrince 08-27-2019 10:51 AM

I prefer books. Perhaps perception works in such a way that for me the world of Harry is a world of books, and films distort it. In some moments, very much.

malfoygrl 08-30-2019 07:52 PM

The books because they give more insight on what's happening and we get more character development.

Books, Books, Books

Because you cant call yourself a HP fan if you prefer the films. Right?

mounkeygirl 09-06-2019 02:48 PM

I liked the books. Firstly, live-action movies often make me really uncomfortable which was a good chuck of the reason I didn't go see Fantastic Beasts for well over a year after it was released. Turned out I liked that, I think the wide angle shots help alleviate the feeling the characters are in my personal space bubble.
But as for why I liked the books, JKR can really write a scene. I loved all the details of the peripheral characters just living their lives completely oblivious to the fact Harry was in ear shot. My favorite scene in the entire series was in book 4, where a MoM official was arguing with Old Archy at the Quiddich World Cup, trying go get him to change out of a lady's dressing gown into suspenders and the old wizard was not having it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movies, however the books were captivating. I couldn't put the books down once I got them until I finished the book.

SiriusRex 09-26-2019 02:55 AM

:albus3: Books are amazing... from the first, I was charmed by the style and complicated thread-weaving. The films made me sit up and scream "They shouldn't have changed that!"
It wasn't really Harry that interested me the most, but the cast of characters around him-- friends, relatives, enemies. But I do admit his awe of magic was endearing.

i watched the movies first and really fell in love with them , i first decided that i will never read the books becuz i thought why waste time reading the same thing that i have seen. But most of the people on the internet were like books are better and they left a lot of stuff from books. So these kind of things kind of motivated me to read the books but the thing that motivated me the most was when someone said that they left voldemorts back story so when i haerd this i bought the books in one week and i liked the books so much becuz of the details and characterizations and little or minor sequences that were not in the movies.

APleasantHeliotrope 10-06-2019 08:00 PM

The books! Whenever I watch the movies I always wonder how weird it must have been to see the movies as the narrative just doesn't make sense in some places as vital information is left out

Sioween 10-09-2019 07:41 PM

While I love reading I would prefer the movies as I can watch them way quicker than I can read. And while maybe there are some things that happen differently both are still rather enjoyable.

LiaBia 10-13-2019 10:56 PM

I prefer the movies because when I read books I get easily distracted and I have a hard time imagining things. But when I watch the movies it helps me picture the book.....yeah. lol But my Aunt Suzy (Suziella) is going to borrow the Audio books from the Library so I can listen to them instead which I think will help.

L.E 10-16-2019 07:27 PM

Books are better than movies, imo. Though the movies have their own charm (the courtroom scene in GoF, for instance)

Lord Evansiline 10-17-2019 03:59 PM

Both can be good depending on the mood I'm in at the time.

NephilimWitch 10-28-2019 12:35 AM

as a bookworm I prefer the books, mainly because there is more information. I Now I love the movies, I watch them over and over but I will always prefer the books.

EveT1991 11-03-2019 02:21 PM

I love the films and I need to read all the books but I planning on reading the first one. I have flipped through thr first one.

NephilimWitch 11-06-2019 03:27 PM

I have always prefered Books to Films, mainly because in books you can get so much more detail and emotion I find. The Harry Potter movies have a special place in my heart and always will but I feel television or a mini-series would have been a better platform but alas I still will rewatch them over and over.

Sunflower 12-10-2019 03:41 PM

I prefer the books, just because they were released earlier than the films and they feel more authentic? But both are truly wonderful and I love both reading the books and watching the movies in my leisure time.

doodledog&hermione 12-14-2019 07:57 AM

books or films that's the problem

Oh My God. I can't decide!!
Um...Um... I think I prefer books, because in film there are some scenes that are missing. I like films too, because hermione is sooooo beautiful.:jamesprongs:
