Chapter 18

Where is Ron?

I searched through almost every corridor and yet I still can't find him. I turned a corner and saw Ron and Lavender snogging the daylights out of each other. I walked up to him and pulled him back from her. I let him see my tears fall down my face and I ran off back to the ball.

My lip quivered as I cried and I sat down on the stairs outside of the Great Hall. I buried my face in my hands. My heart had felt it had been stabbed and broken in pieces. Nothing ever could go right for me. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I decided not to look up. I would never want someone to look at me like this.

"Hermione, I mean Hannah. What happened?"

I smiled to myself and was greatful Harry had still been a true friend to me. I looked up at him and his face softened.

"What happened?"

"Ron...Ron cheated on me with Lavender."

"You've got to be kidding me, he's been crazy over you for about six years. I can't believe he did that."

I nodded and shrugged. "I wonder what I did wrong, I mean i-

"Potter, Zabini. Either go to this dreadful ball or go back to the common rooms." Snape said.

I squeezed Harry's hand and nodded for him to go off without me. As I began to walk towards my common room, father stopped me.

"I'm thinking you wouldn't want to miss this big of something before we go home tomorrow." Father said.

I nodded and looked at myself, I was a complete mess. My make-up was everywhere on my face.

Father muttered an incantation and everything was back in place. I smiled at him.

"Thank you." I said walking off towards the ball.

A hand grabbed me around my wrist and pulled me with him to the dance floor.

"Where were you Hannah?" Blaise asked worried.

I started to dance with him and I sighed.

"Ron cheated on me with Lavender. No big deal." I shrugged.

Before I could say anything else I felt myself spinning around being caught in Malfoy's arms.

I rolled my eyes.

"Hey don't give me that look Zabini, I told you I would dance with you tonight." He said smirking.

Chapter 19

I sighed, I knew I couldn't get out of Malfoy's grasp. It was no use to even try.

"So I heard you talking with Zabini." Draco said.

I looked over at Blaise who had walked off, talking to Father. I raised an eyebrow but shook my head looking back towards Draco.

"Wait what?" I said not keeping focus on what he said.

"I heard you talking with Zabini." Draco repeated, rolling his eyes.

I smirked.

"Oh really, why were you listening on our conversation?" I said raising an eyebrow.

Draco stuttered but then cleared his throat, from the embarassment.

"Why are you not crying in your room with Potter because poor Weasel-Bee cheated on you?" Draco said.

"I would, but it's no use." I muttered softly.

Draco had heard but decided not to say anything.

"Well did you hear, Hannah, that Pansy had moved onto Theo? Probably the greatest day of my life." He said.

I laughed and saw Draco smile, while looking at the other people dancing.

"You just smiled." I said simply.

Draco looked down at me and smirked.

"I don't think I did, Hannah." He said shaking his head.

"Yes you did, I just saw you." I said bringing my hand up to the corner of his lip and turning it up in a smile, making me laugh.

He then had this glimmer in his eyes and he leaned towards me, kissing me. I kissed him back, closing my eyes and smiling against his lips. I then finally got a sense of what I was doing and pulled back, pushing him away lightly. I saw him look behind me and I turned, facing my Father with Blaise. Blaise's face had a look of terror on it while Father's was his usual straight-face complexion.

What had happened?
